hello everyone good afternoon to this webinar about how to connect a novice first of all Ricardo is above me so he is at home I am at home as well and we are trying to do as well as we can this webinar the idea of this webinar hello Ricardo and hello everyone the idea of this webinar is basically to show you that anubis as a converter monitoring tool mixing device real-time mixing device has a very straightforward simple connection so basically yes we use the network and for obvious reason instead of using USB you are thunderbolt we use the network because you can carry actually a vast amount of channels through one gigabit ethernet cable we can go up to more than 400 channels in bi-directional with one gigabit ethernet cable obviously that's far too much of what Anubis can handle but if you go higher and separate you have to remember that you will have each time this amount and so it will be 200 channels or more than 200 channels in 96k more than 100 channel in 192k and still more than 50 channels actually only 64 channels in DSD 256 in one gigabit ethernet cable and this a USB or Thunderbolt is not really achievable on on that aspect this is the first reason the second reason is that it's extendable so it means that you can already have a point-to-point cable that is quite wide in terms of meters or foot or feet depending where you are but but then on the top of it if you need you can put switches in between extenders even more and the switches bring you a real network as well so it has many advantages on that aspect so I'm a presentation today or rather our webinar of course if you have questions please feel free to ask them over the chat and we will try to respond well as we can also if something is not clear in terms of the technical aspects the audio is not clear whatever it is please let us know also or if Ricardo is too loud over me or I'm too loud over him so the first idea is we're gonna have a few slides of a PowerPoint that you see on the right side of the screen and we're gonna guide you through and explain the very basics of it then we're gonna open really the driver for the other side for the window side and explain what it makes what it does what are the functionalities and to make it as easy as possible and then Ricardo is gonna do the Mac side I have a PC here Ricardo has a Mac at his place and he's gonna open the core Audio Driver and explain the functionalities and then we're gonna look at at the end we're gonna look at Anna man which is our basically our virtual patch Bay which you have to setup once if you just make a point-to-point connection but then and that's it like a patch but when you want to use the network by a switch then you might have different types of configuration depending if you record which to do a ones 24 track and then Studio B just to track and then you want to combine is IO for an eye for another job and so on and then obviously you would I mean in the olden days you would patch your things and this is what virtually you can do with anima so let's start unless Ricardo has something to say to be clear that that well explained by Morris on the cable we can do lot of i/o on the end of this itself it has a physical input but it has the 256 are you that can receive output within the end of this we have a mix engine that can mix 128 of these you can imagine with the crossfades which makes okay Dennis tells me hello everyone that Ricardo is not loud enough compared to me so I put him louder I hope this I keep switching from I was with Dennis very recently on the PC side now I'm on the Skype Mac side so it's like you know there's some balance issues anyway let's go on to the on to the that is better thank you that is so to the right side of the screen where you have this first picture or this first slide so it really shows very clearly very straightforward that if you connect if you need or want to connect in an obese to a computer either Mac or Windows sorry yes Mac or Windows 10 basically you need just one cable and you connect from the rj45 connector of the Anubis that you that you have behind here you take one cable or cats preferably cat 6 cable but you it works also with a cat 5e cable and you connect it to your desktop door that contains the door or a laptop and laptop in today's laptop you don't have any or rarely let's say even that connector so you would have an adapter from let's say USB C to Ethernet or standard USB 3 to Ethernet or Thunderbolt to Ethernet or whatever you want but this is how you connect it from point to point yes there is a question about the vdm driver we will talk about this a little bit later you will see in a second so this is the very basic point-to-point connection and it's very straightforward it means you install either the VAD drivers or the core or your driver for the Mac side or either you track you installed Windows driver for as you and you can connect it and you just have to go through a few settings like every driver and it's pretty much straight ahead on that aspect so let me go to the next page unless Ricardo has something to say about this page so the next page is obviously putting a switch in there so a switch just I mean we have webinars specifically about switches and other things we're not going to turn into the how can I say the details about switches but nevertheless we need some specific switches that are very common actually but that have certain protocols included so that the audio IP basically is functioning over it and we provide for some switch manufacturers a config file that you can download and install on the switch that means so that the yo-yo is passing properly and it's not stopped by trying to do something for Mirotic's or whatever it is and so this switch then allows and this is the beauty of it is it is extendable today you need some more iOS you put a switch and then you go for more iOS other emerging iOS that we have here on the left with happies and Horace's and on the right side I have a focus right and another computer that means that we are then open to the network basically a protocol is called a s67 and we are open to donta 67 or array of 67 devices and we just then can use their in and outputs and for example listen to them on Anubis or mix them on Anubis and also from different computers so you can use the Anubis capability linked to several workstation and this is then the capability of obviously the network but for the entry-level just a point to point converter to the DW you don't need it you don't need a switch to make a work to do a job already okay Ricardo you want you add something well the switch we have in our knowledge database the recommended switch we have also the configuration files for the switch because we want to for those that need a switch we want to guarantee a switch that we can support there's too many switch otherwise in the world where you could have renewed of address and southern glitch over the or over IP so we have those sets of switches that we recommend that you use and you dedicate to the rather than a network and parallely if you have a handle this next to you you can all you like we also recommend the power over ethernet switch so we have the cisco qo e and the POA is very useful in a studio at times you even the goods to you you can have ground ground loops you can have some wiring noise issues so with with the with the power of your Ethernet it's a way to to to bypass that realm loop and noise problems you could have and also it gives redundancy if you decide to connect both powers the power supply or if you recording you want to put the idea and you listen a happy to record you can use the p OE 400 meters the power supply on the yeah and if you have it like me on a desktop I just have a power of ee switch and it's just it's just one cable which makes it very nice instead of of I mean apart from the analog audio cables or headphone whatever and it just makes it in very high snice to move around good I'm gonna move to the next slide and this is now how we can compare my or our core audio for the Macworld driver or virtual soundcard and our ask you for windows side driver it means that because of the architecture of the operating system the behavior of the track count when you go higher and separate is not the same in the mac world as it is in the PC world so you in the back world basically it always remains at 128 in and outputs but obviously when you have 128 in and outputs at 192k you need to have a system and a device that that is able to to support it that that makes it very obvious and on the other side you have it each time so it's 120 18 1 FS 64 2 FS 32 in in four FS and so on but you can go higher up to the and dxd with 16 tracks which makes it pretty unique in there one important thing to understand also is that on the core outer side so basically on the back side we have two drivers there is one coming totally free of charge that you can download you can do use it with whatever hardware device and so on it is not limited to merging devices but it has a limitation in terms of its track count as frequencies in terms of its sample rate and then we provide this premium driver that you see here where you can go higher in track count and higher and separate but you need one of our hardware devices this is basically to have the PD so that you have a stable connection and on the right side of the on the other side we only have one version for the moment at least new one is coming or another one is coming you will see that in a second and and and this comes and has to work with one of our hardware devices do you want to add something Ricardo no as you say this is the two current ones and I see some interesting question about WDM yeah that will come later and we have something promising and we have something for you so obviously that allows me a full compatibility in terms of all kind of workstation the idea here is that one day you use this workstation for the recording the next day you use another one because it is a better editor and the day after what you use and third one because this is what you prefer in terms of mastering so you're totally agnostic of the workstation and this is what the system and the Seco system provides and this is the beauty about it ok and this is just an overview I going to open it also afterwards as a software this is just obviously a picture or screenshot this is our animal that stands for audio network manager basically our virtual patch and this also exists as an executive all in the windows world and Macworld basically on the left side here you see that you will have different devices and basically you select those devices and on the right side you then have the i/o available either software or hardware I use but you have them available on the right side and you make your connection basically from your hardware device to your DW or from one da W to another Dibley ta W if you wish so because if you have a switch you could connect to one logic one Pro Tools with a hardware device for the monitoring and you can feed your multi track output from the logic back into the Pro Tools to mix it yes I know pyramix wasn't listed on the compatibility list because obviously it is compatible so salvation so the thing is we are we are trying actually to to make it very clear that our hardware ecosystem is workstation agnostic and I think this is very important even for pyramix users for whatever reason they have a gig somewhere and perhaps the customer wants to use something specific or they have an engineer or an assistant who is more comfortable on something else because he or she is not used to it you can do it and and at least the job can be done and then you move to pyramix because you will need to do your super editing or whatever it is and at the top of it what is interesting also with Anna man is that we of course opened it to third part manufacturers for some plugins that they developed so that we integrate their products as well into anime and for interconnectivity but this is the more advanced type of of work great let me go I gonna close this and let me go to my driver so I'm gonna bring it to this window now here so basically this is my as your driver to connect my computer my DW to the network domain and so I can connect to my Anubis I'm doing it here for the Osseo for for the windows 10 and Ricardo we'll do it on the OS 10 I mean the the Mac OS basically in a second on his window I wouldn't change the sizes of the window so that you can see better so basically once it's installed the executable it's very easy you boot it up and first of all you have to select which basically network adapter you want to connect your nubes with so here I have a sorry a USB C to Ethernet adapter on my laptop and this is the one with an IP address that is totally automatically dealt with that is the one I want to select and if I select another one I see at the bottom suddenly it tells me all but there is nothing connected obviously this is the one I want to use and then here this is the buffer size I want so this is mainly if you go into a bigger project bigger track count and with several devices you can increase or decrease the buffer size of the packets you receive in 1fs and then this is the more I mean a very important aspect of it I want just to underline I installed it by default so I didn't change anything the only thing I change is to select which network card I missed that's it this comes by therefore a 67 that means that this is a latency in a network or in a point-to-point all my devices my Anubis for instance and my driver have to be set into al 67 so that the latency of the packets are the same for each device this means that if you are in a multi track configuration and you record 24 tracks and of course over the network those 24 tracks or the packets of those 24 tracks have different routes is that to make sure that when they arrive at destination is that all those 24 tracks with their packets are aligned not that track 15 has some delay or some advance so this is why the latency is crucial that for each device it's set to the same so here we on the mode of 16 12 sorry 6 12 48 samples latency which corresponds to the a 67 known or we could put it 16 32 64 samples and this would correspond to the ravenna mo Ravana motors it's one or the other and for the entire network in this aspect that makes it very clear and then here I could choose the numbers of channels at maximum I want to use so here I'm just connected with my Anubis so I don't have more than four inputs and eight outputs and I could have some summing or some some some how can I say some some tracks coming from my DW to my Anubis to be mixed in there so even if I would work in immersive I mean I could go to 32 in and out and that's it but that means that I will not use the entire bandwidth that I have as a net availability unless I need it of course if I need it I can go higher but as long as I don't need there's absolutely no reason to use all the bandwidth and especially what is interesting also is to observe how it behaves when you go higher in frequency obviously it halves each time that it gives you also the track count for how high something raised and here obviously it's the it's the 48k the status that I'm in because my workstation is now set to 48 K if I will set it to 192 it will switch 292 and that it's all happy and running last but not least in case you have a conversation with our support team with Georgie for instance or someone else what is important to mention is that obviously like every executive all that we produce or provide we have a zero another sorry not a serial number a built number and a version so this is not a version 1301 and build 3376 so in case you have a question an issue or problematic with this device it is key to provide this number in your email support request or whatever so for us it is much easier to follow up and and not ask in question which number which version and so on and it makes the whole process a much speedier and much easier for everyone I think I've said everything I gotta move on to Ricardo unless you want to have something but no the driver for the as you it's available for we certify it on Windows 10 and Windows 7 64 bits so it's a 64 bit driver and we highly recommend that you are on these OS and you're not on the server or Windows Server version or Windows 8 or other versions so let me share quickly mice yes I just make myself much smaller wait a second ah yeah one second just so Ricardo I just gotta move you here and up like this and now me there we go so here we are so I have the VAD panel running on the Mac no javi so our RVD supports the latest dot that latest ultimate catalina because we're super careful because Apple has a tendency to to play tricks on all the audio community in the world and it's pretty hard to keep up with those Apple and Microsoft people I'm sorry to say it's been very hard there's still some restrictions and security enhancement and big sniffing so we are on Catalina 1015 to now it can run on Catalina 1052 it can be installed on newer Catalina but we cannot guarantee the performance on the new on the new Mac OS yet so it's a bit that your own race if you go about so I have my interface connected I must say that you need that the recent Macintosh at the 10 I've often attending a big port and that the revenue accurately support for the idea knows is on one gigabit so we saw that at times people were having the first symptom is actually that the PTP does not lock when you're on a 10 gigabit like Internet port so it's important in that case you don't need to throw your back away it's a fine Mac you just have to get a small adapter that's a network adapter and you have a USBC tuner to RG 44 rj45 scuse me network adapter and you just connect this Thunderbolt or USB C to your Mac and you're up and running on this on this interface the second menu we see here is the latency this is the premium version I have as you can see my Anubis is discovered below so the end of this premium where the DD premium version gives you a bunch of latency we have the 64 here that's pretty merging like still work a lot in 64 people that are on masks or are familiar with the low latency mask or mode but yes 67 the 48 is popular very popular and they actually the AES 67 for example is the latency mode for the standard D ID if you don't have a merging interface you run the standard and you are limited to 48 as I run the premium I have more choice here in the frequency if I have the standard I will be limited to one FS so 44 1 or 48 if I haven't ended this preview of a pro I will go all the way to 192 despite the panel goes all the way but you will do 192 anyway then I do this role premium I mean you can go to DSD 256 and you can have a follow DDP detection or not enable safe mode is to give some to ensure that like you have enough so the buffer ik and the buffering is fine and you have the best performance wise and guarantee some safety measures on the driver running on the number of channel with the standard version you will be blocked 264 but with the premium version of the VAD you go to 128 as a Maurice explain this is not divided by the sampling rate counting if you increase the two FS for FS the count is the same so I would say use the number of i/os you physically need or you were really strained so in this case I have 8/8 because I just haven't any base and I won't go connect another device over the network so that's a sufficient normally I can do even DSD with that at this rate so important why I put 8 because with any base in theory you can have four inputs but actually you have the split channel so it gives you 8 in a way to use the channel that you can use plus the topic that we count as number 5 actually and share you have the driver running status you have the PTP lock status so it's important the first thing that if you everything is connected you're starting you make sure that you are all locked and fine if you have problems there like I said you check the interface is well selected you verify that it's one gigabit interface and you should also go in our knowledge database where we recommend some settings configuration for Mac OS or to make sure that you have the best performance and experience when you're using this so the discovery here I can open the end of this here and I can have I can see the preamps of the enemies that's a new page we've implemented so remote control I haven't Lite here next to me connected in the enemies so I can have remote control over the preamp so if I use Reaper by example or logic that don't have the preamp control directly busy preamps like Pro Tools added protocol you can use this this remote control the UI browser access and if you're in Pro Tools we'll see later you can connect the preamps directly within Pro Tools so I have done the launch any man so I can launch any man from here or from my any man shortcut so bonus we'll go more into detail with any man but you can see I have my GED here I've connected my door to the cords you're here and I've connected my combos here and my jacks here to the VAD so I'm normally up and running and can consider starting to work so I will just launch let's say Pro Tools so that's basically what I'm explaining here you you have more details in tutorials we made so you can find all the details and there's some videos on YouTube where you can have more steps for connections so with that you should be up and running I have a project here so basically have a project open Pro Tools I can check my hardware playback engine might leave a kitchen I select the revenue here I can use I don't know why it's a bit slow I can choose a buffer size I basically this is an example of how I'm running now depending of the project the size of the mixer and plugins you put in you can change that here I can also go in the MIDI devices and select the MIDI pray I could select me do the end if I have a keyboard and if this has MIDI support so you just need to also get the small cable or check the pin out for the cable we have a jack break up giving people exactly we have a great cut cable that's available from merging so you can get that so then the preamps configuration I can make sure this is - I'm growing pretty fast but it's just to to make sure I can quickly have the remote for a control from from Pro Tools here so normally right here if I click in my strip I can see now I'm talking into my microphone here one two and then I have here the control over the media pray control so I can reduce my preamps or increase my level here directly yes and I can connect the output to the door and normally I'm up and running in pretty fast and I can start working and tracking with with any disconnected so since it's a webinar on multiple things I will I think let now Morris continue for the other Thank You thing perhaps just to finish it protons what is cool is that you have the mic pre game but you also have the the 48 balls and you have the pack and you have all the the classic thing you would you would need exactly I don't need to use the web access and stuff like that of course like other companies we have some special settings we have the boost some people add the air so that those things are not within the specification of the MIDI pre protocol necessarily so there are some parameters that are a bit special like everybody but in general you have full control over over your your and of experience exactly and let me open now anima here that you see so what I've done with admin here is basically like I would have first install okay so I open it for the first time and everything is by default to explain you a little bit how to navigate through is that here you have your devices so basically I have my computer because I'm in connected to my driver with a workstation running and my Anubis and I can use the mouse wheel to to go in and out if I want to in terms of zooming so here I go in and out and I see now if I move this guy there when I when I see that is that I have a little Swiss watch there basically it's to show the precision of the of the anoobas basically that this guy what I have a network is my PTP master he has the club and he's generating it to the others and if I leave my mouse on there it will give me some information on it the IP address the and so on and so on but again let's make it simple that's not what we were looking for not what we one thing that is important is to understand that for the moment nothing is connected remember it's a virtual patch so I have to connect in and outputs from my workstation to my Anubis because from the moment yes there is a cable connecting them but there is nothing basically in the cable that is fed to them or received to them one thing also I have here is there you see a globe and a pin that's basically we have a world view and a pin in view and it means that by therefore the first time those devices will appear in the world view and what I will have to do is to take them to select them and to bring them in the pinned view so that now the connection is I will do for the first time it will remember them okay if you leave them in the world view each time and you switch everything off tonight you come back tomorrow the connections will not be there so I bring them to the pin view and I can now make the connections because they are selected automatically shows up here the air and the outputs of the devices so I have here my Azure device the outputs the inputs and my Anubis outputs and inputs so the interesting thing is that you will see already that there are things that are connected in my Anubis for example in our previous French webinar I inverted my channel left and right so I'm right and left so I got to put them back into the proper direction so that it means that this is the internals how can I say the internal patch of my Anubis so it means that my two Excel are connectors with a microphone input are properly in the software called make input one and two but I could say no no I want to change that totally or instead of having physically my headphone output connected to phone one and two I could have a 5-1 output and couldn't and use my first headphone output as my Channel five and six for my 5-1 so all this is customizable that therefore this is how it looks like and then obviously moving my mouse around you see sometimes in the screen sometimes it's red when it's red it means I cannot connect that because it is already saying it here output is already receiving something so I cannot override it I could but I would have to delete the connection first and then to overwrite it and now I'm gonna connect here da W is basically my source that is by default in my anubis when I unwrap it and I'm gonna connect my output one of my workstation and connect it here and now I say either multicast or unicast to make it easy and straight forward I'm not always having this choice but I have it here apply multicast a unicast to explain it the difference is that symbolically I have a microphone on stage and I have a switch and three workstations so do I want to record this microphone on all the three workstations redundancy or whatever it is or just on one if I want to record it on all the three workstations I will apply multicast because it multiplies it wherever the receivers can get it and which is great but if you have a bigger install in a multitrack environment multicast means that you do multiply also all this data which is perhaps not needed and at one point you would have a bottleneck in bigger installations when you multicast everything this is why there is the unicast which is then unique to receiver it means that my microphone I decided to which DW I want to send it and if I do that in unicast only one of the three workstations will be able to get this sound of the microphone so here for the mode I'm saying no I gotta work in unicast because it will have this dark blue color instead of the purple color and the interesting thing now they will see an interesting thing now here also it has made this connection with two channels obviously you can save those connection we call those connect so however you want and if you double-click on the device like on the Anubis will now see it opens in my other window I just gonna bring it over in the second here I have to minimize it a little bit there we go and I'm gonna bring it to you so double-clicking on Anubis device opens me my web browser in every of our device you have a web browser which is basically a remote control that's what Ricardo was showing earlier for example with the preamps there and now I show it simply with my standard web browser and if I select the aw now here because it is connected on the main output for example and I go onto my workstation and I'm gonna play back so module you will see that now I hear it or I see it rather because it's I haven't connected it to the to the YouTube feed so but I see that because I'm a dispatch connection I'm now set and again to make it very clear coming back to my presentation at the very beginning if I'm connected point to point I set up my animal once connections and that's it then I close it I hide it I never need it again but of obviously when I'm in this type of configuration I need a patch Bay I need a virtual patch Bay and this is what I know man is made for added aspect Riccardi you want to add something maybe a quick thing on the sampling rate zone as you say it's very important because people sometimes they cannot monitor all the devices so as more a show or something rate zone you put the device there and you're sure that everything follows well I can show you here you can add a new sample rate zone and you have to click on it and now this is a new sample rate zone you can change the color if you wish and so on you can whatever if you prefer it in let's put this beautiful color there now basically all the devices hardware software I'm gonna put in there by electing a queen or king will then have this upgrade of the queen or the king so if I move my Anubis in here so Maya nubes is now part of the sample rate zone and I move my DW mic and I elect this one as the queen or the king I changed out a sample rate of my workstation and every device in this sample rate zone that you can announce and diminish in terms of size will then change to the sample rate of the queen or the king can I move on to the last so sorry for or rather thank you for your patience this is what is coming up so basically and you obviously you've noticed that Mac has a different architecture in the way it manages its sound to the Windows device and the core audio or the Mac has a great functionality called aggregate where you can mix different things coming from the computer from the web basically from the OS environment and then on the professional side on the colder side and this is kind of lacking and missing in the Windows environment and we've done now this new as your multi client and windows media driver so that means that first of all you can connect and you see you have the same features like selecting a network card and so on and so on but basically it's in the idea that you obviously connect and as you to analyse for example but at the same time you can buy windows media driver connect eight channels coming from Spotify for example or from Apple music because you want to compare something or for somebody who prefers to rehearse something he plays back on a youtube video and just plays his guitar and I mean obviously there are many different applications or in our case doing now a webinar or podcast instead of using our microphones from our headphones we could have used the microphones on our Anubis and use this device to do that so this is on the preparation it is under on the beta for the moment and it will be on its way to be released I guess the summer or something like that so we are still in the beta cycle but it's going well and it proves to work nicely Ricardo something to add yes indeed it's something that was really lacking especially since we entered a larger market with the Anubis we needed there's something that that fur feels the need of monitoring the sound of the CC and having a way I mean I knew this is a monitoring mission now so with with the this new driver you can create a source that's the WDM source and you can have in this panel in the better two version of the panel that's coming up you have the WDM integration so it's basically that it allows you to to monitor the sound of the PC check for mastering sound mastering you did before or you that you like as a reference check snare drum that you have it fortified can be on YouTube or whatever on the system and with the tunneling and bridging we have done in it you can even pick that feedback in the door of your choice and record it back while you play guitar over it from the combos of an abyss or their lines the instrument input so basically it's pretty great and it works today and and it does dxd also for it can go all the way to so it's a it's actually very good I can tell you we're right now testing it and it's and it's those who really want to join the bet I had to contact me but we we want to come up with this pretty soon so he's the man to contact yes okay I think all what we wanted to talk I hope for those who don't know yet how to connect they're newbies it made it clear easier more straightforward and yes if you have more questions do not hesitate and we wish you all a great evening and see you at the next wave thank you Morris see you also might have seen the cap is sleeping right behind me on the keyboard she or he seems very happy nice to be so it's a bit the mascot curious me but anyway nice talking to you and I wish you those in the US and on the other side a nice end of the day and we will have a nice evening amorous oh yes indeed Thank You Ricardo everyone [Music]
