hello simmers welcome to my channel sensational builds in case you don't know my name is deb and thanks for joining me today for another tutorial so today we're going over how to build off a floor plan in the sims now this is something that seems super straightforward and in fact most builders in the sims will say that if you are new to building and don't know how to go about it go over floor plan but this can sometimes be easier said than done and if you are new to building even going for floor plan can sometimes look proportionally incorrect so today i'm hoping to give you a few tips and tricks that might be able to help you so essentially what we're going to do is we want to make sure that the proportions are correct now um i'm going off this particular floor plan here today there are a few different websites that you can go to if you are looking at floor plans and i'll pop them on the screen for you now but essentially any floor plan will do and if you can't find one online um that is exactly what you're looking for you can always make one up yourself but again if we're just starting going a full full plan can be the easiest thing if you know how to go about it so usually a floor plan will tell you the feet or meters of each particular room or area now i'm going to completely ignore and disregard that that's not what i'm interested in today and i know some people when they're building they do come up with a conversion of meters or or feet to tiles and now when i'm talking about tiles i'm talking about these solid squares in the sims so one tile would be this two by one two by two or a four tile square etc so what i'm going to be working out is how many tiles roughly each area has now this is just a guide for me at this stage you can always fiddle with it to make sure that the proportions are correct later because at the end of the day it doesn't have to be exact it doesn't have to have exactly the same you know sizes as we've got here but what we do want to make sure is that the proportions are correct so that means that proportionally each room is correct to one another that the actual items within the sims will fit within each area correctly as well and so that the overall finished product looks proportionally correct to the finished product in real life essentially or what you're going off of so to start off here when i'm working it out there's a few easy ways to do it now number one easiest way is find your doors now as we know the sims most doorways or especially standard ones are one tile wide this gives you a really easy straightforward base to go off now sometimes front doors can be too wide and i know in this particular house it is a slightly wider front door so we'll keep that in mind with this one here but every other doorway we're going to assume is only one in this case two tiles wide so this already gives us one base measurement now i'm going to look at this great room here being the largest area now being on the side here i don't have too much to go on as i said i assume this is about two or one and a half tiles wide and again this window will be another one but i'm going to ignore this side for now i'm going to use this side here as my measurement so i'm going to assume this broom cupboard here is one tile these two here look like they might be built-ins and i'm going to assume they're also one so if we've got one two this here is a fireplace now in the five in the sims five places tend to be two tiles wide so one two three four five and here being another doorway six so i'm gonna assume that this space here is six tiles wide or six tiles high now looking at the room itself it is a slightly rectangular space so without having to try and figure out what the hell this side here is and you know this is exactly this y this is exactly this wide i'm just going to go by the fact that this is 6 long i'm going to make this 7 because it looks roughly that very slight rectangular shape so what i'm going to do is just using this one room as my starting point i'm going to start putting that within my game if you want to you can draw it out and roughly map out each space as you on a piece of paper but i find that to be very time consuming and not always correct because if you find that one space isn't quite right and you do need to make it you know bigger that will affect every room around it so i tend to go room by room again you need to work out what works for you but this way i have worked found out works best for me so starting here what do i say six by seven so again keeping in mind this one here does have a little bit of a porch in front of it i'm going to just sort of start roughly about here actually no i'm not i'm going to start roughly about here now again you can always move your lot and i'll show you how to do that a little bit later but here we've got one two three four five six seven and holding shift can make a square one two three four five six so that's our first first little rectangular square there that first little rectangle there so now that we've got this room here we can start working on the rooms around it so if i'm going to go straight up here to the kitchen now i'm not including this staircase here cause i'm not doing a basement in this particular build so i'm going to ignore this wall and that doorway i'm just going to have this as one big area so here we've got that space here now here i have a i'm assuming one tile out bump one tile wide bump out and then we go up here so this length here is narrower than this length here or shorter so i can't make this one where i said that one was six tiles wide i'm not going to make that six tiles wide i'm going to assume it's five but let's count it out anyway so we've got a corner tile here one two three four five now i'm going to ignore this little pantry here because um that looks like it'll probably only be about half tile and again i don't want to make this quite so wide as this one here so i'm going to make that five tiles wide and the length is easy because it lines up with this wall here so going back into my game we've got one two three four five and line it up here oh actually sorry we have to have this little bump out as well so that's our first two spaces now we can start working on the other sides as well so i'm going to work on this master bedroom so this is quite straightforward because we're only got that doorway there so we go out that one and this is a square so i'm just going to go down one and make it a straight square so i think that'll work out at five tiles so one five tiles now when i'm doing the floor plan as you can see i tend to work with the walls down you can obviously have them up but i just find it to be easy just to see that floor plan laid out just like it is um on the actual plan itself so now that i've got the master bedroom here i can work on the master bath so this one again bathrooms also have another easy way of working at the tile so here we have a shower easy that's one tile a tub we know that's two tiles so that's one two three then we've got a doorway five and then the toilet which is six now this bedroom here we've already worked out to be only about five tiles so this one here is one of those funny ones that looks like an extra half tile and again we are not entirely sure but the fact is that this has a huge master closet we don't need such a huge mass closet in the sims because it's not going to be properly functional since all they use are the cabinets themselves so i'm going to give that an extra bump out here and make that slightly longer than the bedroom itself to accommodate for all those separate pieces there so that i can easily fit the bathroom in exactly as how they have it in the full plan itself so that's that one there i did it three wide because of it as you can see i've only got that one space in the middle one two three here we have a little half bath and there looks like a little closet here so i'll when i'm putting it in i'll see how much room i've got because again that's not going to be particularly functional and unnecessary the half bath itself looks like it's only one two two and a half three maybe here by too wide or too high sorry but i need to keep in mind that i need a hallway so i think if we do it three by two there and that's our little hallway i think that'll be fine so this build here is a straight rectangle so i can easily just fill up this space and then put in those other couple of rooms there so i've got this flexi space that will be a office and then i've got the laundry space there as well again keep in mind that i'm not sure what i'm going to do here yet i'm just going to fill in that gap and see what i've got to work with so essentially the laundry itself doesn't have to be very big we've got the dryer the washer a corner counter so that's saying clearly three wide and we can call that again it's slightly rectangular so we can call that four long although i don't think it really needs to be four long if i don't have the space so if i do it for long i've only got three left for the actual office so i'm going to for the sake of argument i've got to make it a three by three square i know it's a rectangle in the actual floor plan itself but being what i need it for and that this space is more important to me i'm going to make it a square it'll still serve the same function and that way my hallway will be the same one tile wide the whole way through usually i don't like to make always so narrow but again for functionality and seems to mean that this is a smaller house i think that'll be totally fine i'm just going to pop a doorway there and that'll be our office space so now we've got the entire this side of the house now it does look like i have built this off center so if you need more space on this side the lot itself is big enough you just hit this button here it's move lot and house so i'm just going to move the house but you can move literally everything that's on your entire lot so if you started um landscaping or adding other furnishing around there you would hit the entire move lot button and then you can move everything because i've only got the house i only need to move this one and i'm just going to move it over a couple of squares and i can move that again if i need to basically what i'm going to try and aim for is that the doorway itself is going to be centered but i'll fiddle with that when i've actually put in all the rooms so now i've got the entire right side of the house let's back on the left so again it's pretty straightforward here what's going to make this one a bit harder is that we've got these little closets here again it's not entirely functional and i can make it working as a walk-in closet and we do have those couple that came with um city living i think um that are more built in style but they're not important so if i don't run out of room i don't actually need to include them what i do need is this bathroom here being at least two tiles long wide and one two three tiles long being that rectangular shape so that is the most important thing here and that is centered as well so in terms of width i'm going to make this one keep in mind that beds are roughly two by three or two by four tiles in size the beds themselves sorry i mean i can make sure there's enough room for those so this one here i'm going to make it five tiles wide and see where we go from there and here's the bathroom itself actually those two rooms the same size now this is where it gets a little bit awkward i suppose with the sims itself and this is where the floor plan doesn't work so much because we can't build on half tiles these two rooms here i'm not going to have enough room for if i fit them in my room is only going to be three tiles wide which is doable but it's taking up unnecessary space and the hallway itself is quite wide i can actually make this a touch narrower so as you can see that bathroom is probably a smidgen too big here if i had if i wanted to i could make the entire block one tile wider on either side or even just one side and then that would give me enough room to be able to create those two built-ins but as it stands it's not hugely necessary and i think this is going to be enough room and if anything it just gives us a slightly bigger bathroom to work with so here we have essentially the rough floor plan that we're working with all i need to do is add those couple of porches so they look like they're about two tiles wide again keeping one that one you know the size of one doorway and it fills in roughly that space there but centered again i can fiddle with that i can make it maybe a little bit narrower as necessary but that's the rough shape and there you have it i'm just gonna do a quick speed build now to finish it off and show you what it's gonna look like [Music] do [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music]
