[Music] hey guys it's tom from liftoff today I'm going to show you how to create an smtp connector so you can send mails from your on-premise devices programs and anything else you might need to send mail from to begin with we need to find out what the IP addresses are that might be sending messages this is your external IP address and usually you can get it from your ISP or your firewall if you're not sure you can go to a website called what's my IP net and you'll see your IP address at the top of the page in this case we're going to use one 1.1.1 as an example the next step is to go to portal access comm and login as a global administrator once logged in we're going to go ahead and click on admin and then in the bottom left hand corner we're going to choose admin centers and exchange in the exchange admin center loads we're going to click on mail flow and at the top we're going to click on connectors from here we're going to click on plus the from option is your organization's email server and that can actually be your organization's email devices not necessarily your server the two is going to be office 365 go ahead and click Next here we're going to give it a name can be anything this is a description for your purposes so we're going to say SMTP on-premise relay connector in your case if this is for a program or a specific device you may want to add that as well we're going to uncheck the box that says retain internal exchange email headers and click Next here we're going to choose the second option and we're going to specify our IP addresses you can enter a single IP address you can enter multiple IP addresses and you can also enter subnets so if you get your ISPs subnet that is dedicated to your organization you can enter that here again these are just examples you would want to enter your own IP addresses once they're all entered go ahead and click Next and click Save once the connector is set up we're going to go ahead back to the main admin center by clicking the nine dots in the top left hand corner and choosing admin and here we're going to get your MX record this is what's going to be used as your SMTP server under settings click domains and then when your domains load double click on your primary domain and make a note of the top record DMX record that's the record that's going to be used as the SMTP server for all of your devices and programs the information you need is your MX record that's going to be the SMTP server the default port is 25 that's the port you have to use for most devices and applications the default encryption is none again that's what you're going to have to use and there's no authentication the firm address needs to come from your domain but before the @ symbol can be anything so you can put no reply at your domain if you want obviously you're going to replace your domain comm with your actual domain and the SMTP server with your actual MX record as a reminder you must allow outgoing port 25 for this connector to work this is tom from liftoff and I hope this has been a helpful video for you
