how to become a successful entrepreneur in today's episode I am going to introduce you to Brock felt he is a multi-millionaire a entrepreneur and a very very successful internet marketer he's going to share with you how he has made 3.6 million dollars in six hours and some of his other successful tricks in business let's go [Music] so we are here today with Brock felt this is like one of the most exciting days of my life that I am meeting this absolutely successful entrepreneur who is going to share all of this awesome information so I'm gonna just start and get right to it so Brock tell us your amazing story on how you took trash and turned that into a business so I had gone on a church mission and came home when I was 21 and I had to figure out a way to make money and I hadn't gone to school yet but I I was living in Arizona and I noticed on the weekends at the luxury rental did that like it was an apartment but they called it a luxury rental because they had CEOs and stuff that would come in and do like part-time rentals and then they would leave but they would leave all their Furniture so a lot of times I that's how I actually furnish my apartment my house was I'd go get their stuff and put it in there but then I was realizing wait a second this stuff's really nice I wonder if I put it on the Arizona Republic if I could sell it but then I was also super lazy so I would put it on there and say I have beautiful love seat for sale and I do this nice description and people would come and be like well where is it let me show you my showroom so I like bring them out to the dumpster and um and at the dumpster they were like do you even own this I'm like no but it's 300 bucks so um so that's what I started doing I started my my furniture business selling it then the apartment complex where I was at called me one day and they're like hey we need to talk to you I was like oh no I'm gonna get in trouble right for doing this so they pulled me in they bring in the office they have like a president some managers and stuff and they're like are you the guys selling the furniture right uh yes I am like well so we when you do that we don't have to pay for extra trucks right can you go do that at all of our places yeah we own six other places I was like Wow sure so I started doing that to all the other places and I I think I was making six or multiple six figures pretty quick off of doing that and I was actually I just gotten engaged and my future wife comes to me and says um I you know we're getting married maybe I should know what you do for a living yeah what do you do for a living I was like I'm in the furniture business I got showrooms around town like that was my funny you know joke but um yeah and then so that kind of led to another thing is then the Arizona Republic called me like hey we noticed that you're doing all these classifieds have you ever heard of a banner ad I was like no I haven't heard of a banner ad what is a banner ad and they showed me well if you if you put this little Banner ad we can put it all over our site and you can put whatever you want on it and then that will go to your classified yes I was like oh that's it okay so I have to interrupt because this is just an amazing story and I hope that like like you you don't even hear how amazing your story is that you basically took furniture and and I have to even go back because I do lots of airbnbs now and so we get a lot of corporate leases with luxury apartments similar to the one that we are in now and I know what you're talking about where they have these luxury Furnishings thrown away all the time great mattresses great couches and the fact that you were able to take that and think of a business for that and turn that into an entire business I like that is amazing what so so one thing that I do another with the banner ads that was how I everyone asked how did you get started online did you have a tech background or anything no the Arizona Republic called me and said can you do this and I didn't know how to make a banner ad so you remember a long time ago that Microsoft Paint no that was so it was like a free program again so it was a free program it came and my banner ads were the ugliest it just said cheap furniture like just in print and the Arizona Republic It's Like These are so ugly can is there any way you can fix them up like no no so my banner ads my ugly ones were getting the highest click-through rates of any of the other ones on there because I think people like what is this right so and I think there's the the great thing about Simplicity and ads I always I often tell people people like how I got started in real estate was bandit signs like these little Cheap Signs behind on your mortgage payments and you know are you facing foreclosure question mark you know in just a number and keeping it simple in the advertising is a great lesson for any business entrepreneur yeah that's kind of funny that you say about keeping it simple so some doctors approached me at the same time and said hey we know that you're an internet guy I'm like yeah I can do stuff online like we're selling this diabetic product in our clinics and it's helping people like with their circulation and all these other things but one of the positive side effects are a lot of them are losing weight okay I was like so could you think you could put it online and it would sell as like a weight loss product so I put it online and it did okay like we did 10 20 30 sales a day okay and I gave it to one of my assistants because at the time I was big now I had six locations right so I had like an assistant help me coordinate when to meet people yes and uh she's like hey I took it last night it's really cool you can take it at night I was like well why is that significant yeah she said well a lot of the diet products that are out there they have caffeine in them or they have uh there used to be something called fenven I think yeah yeah so she's like you can try it at night you should really should call this a night room um I was like okay so you can lose weight or it works during the night right so we all literally all we did was change the name and I can't say the name because it's a doctor's name but it was a horrible name to night trim and our sales like quadrupled overnight wow it went through the roof and then at that point I'm like oh I'm gonna this is what I'm gonna do with my life I love seeing people be successful lose weight I'm never selling this company we're gonna do this forever we're gonna grow this huge thing and then the doctors came in and like hey we want to buy like all the stuff you're doing with it and kind of kick you out so we can own it I'm like no I'm in it forever we'll give you two and a half million dollars okay where do I sign so they that was my first exit wow I've never actually done an exit just being honest with you so I have to it's slowed you down for a second because you're saying like 20 phenomenal things in one so the advertising and the marketing how you grow your internet business I think that is such a thing that people cannot figure out and it was one of the things that I struggled with for a while was how to get customers on the internet so share with us kind of some of your secret sauce with your ads and how you get these big internet sites going and making millions of dollars so I like Teamwork Makes the Dream Work true so um so so most of the time I work with influencers is what I do currently okay as I work with influencers but what I do that's a little bit different than anybody else is instead of giving them my product and telling them to do a promotion or whatever I'll help them script it out I'll give them samples I'll I'll do like the um the whole FTC disclosures with them I give them a whole nice package but then what I also do that's completely different is I run the ads through their accounts and so what the big part of that is is now they're getting the followers and they're building their brand and they're getting the promotion out there but I'm getting the sales they are too yeah because we split it yeah so everyone wants to do it the other thing that I do is um well partner so am I allowed to like humble yes you could just brag so I had a a gentleman came and he was a big Tech guy and he's like hey I want to learn how you launched this night trim thing in a couple other projects can we just film you for like a week like doing stuff like yeah that's the stupidest thing I've ever heard but sure so literally he's like he's filming screen cam all the stuff that I did we put it together in a package and then what we did is we went out and we grabbed all these other partners to help promote it and we announced the launch date so launch is a really big part of the things that we do now or they call them drops yeah right drops so um so we do a lot of drops but we announced that we're going to launch it like on November 13th or 12th whatever it was we did all the promotions I was hoping we'd do 100 to 200 Grand and it'd be really good and within about five minutes we hit that within yeah oh but five minutes 200 Grand well again so within six hours we had done 4.2 million dollars in sales wow this is incredible so so it wasn't so the product was actually a course it was a it was a horrible horrible productive okay so like there you go I'm sorry you sold 3.6 million dollars of the course in a day right in a day so yeah so we did we actually did 4.2 I'm glad that you saw that and then we and then we realized that a lot of people because the site kept going down kept reordering yeah so when the dust had all settled it was yeah it was 3.6 [Music] when it comes to taking advantage of opportunities this is really about just having an open mindset Rock has these opportunities coming to him opportunity after opportunity after opportunity because he's open to take meetings with people because he's open to listen to what ideas new entrepreneurs have and he is open to investing money in things that he thinks will make money this will definitely work so one of the things that it was required to be a successful entrepreneur is being able to take advantage of opportunities and go to meetings go see what that new thing is that people are talking about put yourself in different situations that you may not normally go to for example one of my mentors told me if I wanted to be a millionaire I needed to buy evently and go play golf now this is kind of funny because I did not have money for a Bentley and I surely didn't know how to play golf but what he was really trying to tell me was that I needed to go be around different people and go learn some new ideas and start finding successful people that I could hang around you'll notice that Brock shared several opportunities that he got just from being in the right place at the right time it would seem but no he put himself in those situations so that when those opportunities came he could take advantage to it okay now let's get back to this interview so you've done all of these amazing things in business and I feel like there's one core thing that you do differently than everyone else kind of talk to me about that what is that thing that you different you're X Factor so I think so what I do that's different the reason why a lot of big companies approach me is I'm really good at selling things online yes and and I think part of that came from growing up in LA in a harder environment so a little bit of like how to to understand people and then I think part of it is also I was raised by a single mom and sisters and 80 of all the orders online are from women okay so that's interesting yeah I don't know what the statistic is now but it's pretty it's pretty close so a lot of times what I'll do is I'll just present it to them and if it doesn't make sense it's not going to work but the thing is it doesn't matter so I've probably launched over 200 different products everything from gadgets to clothing to cars I've done it I've done a butter one of our most successful products is butter really yeah what kind of butter I know this butter must be something different it's from Atlanta so it's a lady in Atlanta approached me she said I make the world's best butter okay well let's see so she has a bourbon butter and apple cider uh butter a peach she's just got all these Butters so I was like wow that's really cool we should package it differently because it the way that it was packaged wasn't right and and because then we can get more value out of it so we packaged in this little cool little box thing and then we did a little launch just to test it I think we spent a couple hundred dollars on ads and it did five or ten Grand right okay so we knew that we had one so then I approached QVC and said hey would you be willing to do it so I think I don't know what the exact numbers were but I think we did like 30 grand a minute wow okay well again I gotta stop you because I this this rock is amazing first of all and he doesn't even realize how amazing he is so he's saying all of these amazing accolades that we almost are like in awe of like I am in awe of what you're saying and you're not even getting it so again I gotta go back so you're selling all of these products and I and I can hear what the difference is because I sell online and I know some of your stuff is like nerdy yeah of like looking at some of the analytics maybe and but you have one secret sauce I feel like that you're not even picking up one okay and your ability to find what the value in the thing is not necessarily you want this but like why the person would want it you're you're better at verbalizing that I'm good so I'm good at that part and also finding the right people for it yeah because what a lot of people do is they go and they're like I could tell ice to Eskimos yeah well why right why would you sell it they don't need that you don't need that but but a lot of it especially with the targeting that goes on right now is you can actually find people that want want that product and then just presenting it to them in the right way but I think some of the biggest things that are going on right now especially with Corona is you have to change up your marketing a little bit we're we're noticing that most of the people that are buying online whatever the product is it doesn't matter the product if you put Bill Gates and Tim Cook or whatever from Apple in the room and said hey sell this they would figure out a way to do it that's true so that's true so a lot of it is right now what we're finding is like skirts I own a fashion company that I I bought but um we're selling skirts but a lot of people are opting to finance it so almost 60 percent of our orders instead of just selling a 30 skirt they're opting for like four payments of seven bucks wow so by offering that that helps and then the other thing that's really interesting that some people are probably looking for products right number one is I always just sell what selling all right I don't want to be fancy and recreate anything but the other part of it is a lot of these companies that were really big are looking to get online they're that were retail really big I get calls from Banks all the time like hey we have 20 million dollars worth of product here we have a million dollars worth of product here will you take it and for a while I was like I don't want to get into fashion oh I don't want to start another business and I'm like well why I'm like well I don't want to put 10 grand or 20 grand or 50 Grand into this company for ads and they're like okay we will wow so the banks are literally calling now saying hey we'll give you this company yeah they owe us three million dollars we'll give you money for ads yes and then once the three million dollars is paid off if there's 20 million in inventory you keep that and then you keep the company wow and so this goes to two different points that that again uh goes to your phenomenalness one is the thing that you're seeing that you get all these opportunities so success beget success I say that all the time once you're successful like people literally offer me free houses why because I'm a millionaire and I don't need a house but if I was homeless and I had no place to live no one would give me a free house but because I have rental properties and I can monetize them and I'll take over the payments people offer me that okay OMG did you hear what Brock was saying about knowing your customer this is so important if you want to be a successful entrepreneur so one of the things that I realized when I got started in real estate and how I learned I could make a ton of money was by focusing on people with property problems in other words I needed to change who my customer was I needed to know my customer better I thought that I needed to find properties that I could make money on or houses that I could flip that I wanted to flip but really what I needed to focus on were people that were behind on their mortgage payments or in bankruptcy or in foreclosure or having some type of issue where I could buy the property at a discount or wholesale the property and make some money for myself so in other words I really had to get clear on who my customer was and start to tap in and learn what my customer needed and what they wanted so I could bring them value okay back to this interview success is why I think you know you've been successful and you're proving yourself but I also think that you could share with people how to start from the beginning I know you know I've listened to some of your interviews and I talked to you and I just love how you can start anyone from the beginning so if you had a business that you were starting absolutely from scratch and you just had what we have now Shopify and maybe printful or you know name some sites where you would just get started as a successful entrepreneur right now so so I always use Shopify yeah yeah everybody's trying to get here so but Shopify is just super easy it is it is um there are some other companies that are out there uh Joba that just have products right they have tons of product really what I would do though is I'd back up just a little bit okay for the last four years I haven't known what I wanted to be when I grew up right I've been trying to figure it out I've been I'm raised I'm a single dad raising four kids and I haven't and I've had some opportunities come I haven't really known what I want to do yeah so what I decided to do is just help everyone so if someone will call me I'm like hey I need money I'd be okay great I'll give you the money or I'll find you investors and a really cute story about a a female entrepreneur called me the other day she's like hey launch this cosmetic line it has this really cool concept kind of like hot topic-ish I was like oh that's cool literally sent three or four text messages she called me back in tears she's like I got 100 Grand because a bunch of my friends were willing to do it so backing up a little bit what I would the first thing I would do is you can't do everything one of my mentors used to say the less you do the more you'll make wow Ronald Grand yeah and um the less you do the more you make so what I did over the last couple years is I started meeting Partners I was at an investor and I met this guy Bill and I went to Bill and like what do you do he's like oh I finance companies on the on inventory I gave School candy two and a half million dollars a month when they launched I was like okay Bill Bill's my guy what do you do and then I wrote down this whole thing so now when I launch a Shopify store I know who my influencers are who's going to fund my inventory who's going to do all that stuff but it's really easy just get a Shopify set it up right and make a really good offer yep and then just get some influencers to promote it or you can spend five dollars a day on Facebook ads and it and they work really and they do and the thing about it is what I like I said I love that you're you're saying things quickly but at the same time you it's not difficult and I think we can hear and everyone can hear really quickly this is not anything that's difficult to do right so someone when quarantine happened I honestly didn't know how to do Facebook ads because I hadn't run ads in a long time this is kind of embarrassing I'm showing my but when it happened there was nothing to do I got on YouTube and watched videos on how to do Facebook ads yeah and then I still couldn't figure out some of it so I call I hit up on some Facebook forms I met this college kid in Boston yeah and he was and he knew how to do them really well he was putting himself through his college I'm like look can you teach me he's like no I'm too busy I'm like what are you doing he's like I'm going out with my boys right now I'm like do you have venmo he's like yeah I'm like okay 200 so I sent him 200 bucks he's like what's the 200 bucks from like beer money whatever money you want will you work with me an hour tomorrow yeah so John has been after about a couple months I was like I can't yeah because he was like in patience with me here's the thing though like I'm telling you this is how phenomenal you are her Facebook ad s so what did Noel well I paid 7 500 to a coach to teach me Facebook ads and you basically learned from a college kid so again to your scrappiness yeah but you also got what you paid for because you probably got your lessons a lot quicker and a little bit more advanced I was still dealing with are you hungover when can we meet like you know and your true story my coach he was following so I and then I actually did enroll in a cup so I did enroll in a couple of courses I actually bought some courses on how to do it and then I still couldn't figure out some of the stuff so I brought my 16 year old son yeah and I bought a thousand dollar course on how to do Facebook ads and some of it I couldn't figure out on the video side so I told my son I'm like hey I know you're getting paid 50 I'll pay you 20 bucks an hour to watch this course and do it with me so that was literally how we got started about about year year and a half ago with it and then since then I want to say we bought 12 to 14 companies now wow and our whole thing is on Facebook ads info so there's like the trifecta so can I this works every single time every single time let's go every time I meet with someone whether a celebrity or someone launching it they have one of these three things off um the first part is they need to run ads right they need to have a face person or someone influencer and then they need to have SMS or um email if they have those three I mean I'm this is like a technical side right what you mean if they have those three you can make it work yeah if they don't and they're like well I ran Facebook because you probably do do something right well I had an influencer okay like a lot of influencers what they'll do is they'll just take the product that's really cool right and they don't really go into it but if you actually you don't script it because they need to have their own opinion of it but if you give them talking points hey can you give us your opinion of this feature of this feature this feature and then the other trick to that is is once they know what features they like then you teach them how to convert those features into benefits because most people will only talk about the features when they launch something and not the benefit of that feature yeah so if they convert it over sales go up yeah and that was what I was saying that you're really good at you're good at verbalizing not the feature the benefit now you can I can I can hear your training I can hear how you speak you easily can turn a feature into a benefit so that people see the value in it one of the other things that I did that really helped out with online sales is I took a job with a door-to-door company for a couple weeks which I don't recommend doing but there's literally 13 psychological triggers that you can put into every one of your web pages that will help motivate people to buy okay like one of them is fear of so Fuji fuja so fear of loss is one urgency is one Jones effect if such and such bought it then you'll buy it and then indifference I mean I can go yeah right right and it's funny any every marketer now that I'm successful as a marketer I stay successful you're way way more successful I'm learning these things too you know social proof and having a web call to action I think we could have a whole conversation and you teach on a call to action yeah for sure because of that I think is another reason why all of your internet businesses do so well you know this you know what the site should have that's pretty funny that you say the call to action so one of the fashion brands that we're working on taking over that this really cute intern that was doing a phenomenal job and she would send these emails out and then she's like they're not really working can you edit them so I'd edit them the only thing I did is put a call to action on there like a big ugly nasty yeah orange oh yeah let's go and like click here to buy and so they triple their quadrupled the sales wow and she she would call me so they had paid me a good amount of money and they're like well we looked through all the emails and we don't really notice any edits that you're making except for that can we get rid of this nasty thing like that is our money maker that's the money maker that was the only thing that I did was put that on there and just made it clear that people need to know what to do next because most people don't know right to do correct so you are amazing and I guess I need to ask them what is Brock's call to action um you know what I'm pretty happy right now I've got four kids you know I'm hanging out with them for you being of that of four I'm a mama Fox so I know what it's like to have all the look so what I don't like to do and this is part of my call to action is I don't like creating things I'm not a Creator I'm very good at taking something that's already there and turning it into something good so I love working with entrepreneurs who have great ideas or products not ideas but actually something moving right tangible yeah so so if anybody ever wants to contact me about launching a product helping out with a product looking for investors I I do local pitch like shark tanks here right and I have about 200 to 300 investors that are always looking for really good amazing so here in
