hey guys it's flip today I'm going to show you how to apply silicone to a joint behind a faucet alright ideally when you install a new vanity and a backsplash you want to run your bead of silicone along that joint before you install your faucet we didn't do that so we ran into the problem of how do we fit our silicone gun along this joint with the faucet in the way so I'm going to show you a little trick we came up with to work around this problem alright so the first thing we did is we just took a regular popsicle stick like this and took a utility knife and just cut the corners off so you kind of get this shape then obviously you want to use a utility knife and cut the end of your silicone bottle off and if your gun has a little spear on it you can use that to poke a hole in the tip if not just use a little piece of metal first we ran a little bead of silicone across the top of the backsplash always use a hundred percent silicon this is gonna make it mold resistant and waterproof after that you can use a wet finger or this little tool I'm going to show you in a second to smooth it out and give it a nice finish now I'm not gonna show the top part cuz this video is basically focusing on the bottom part behind the faucet which is a tricky part but if you use your finger just make sure you get it wet before you smooth out the silicone or even better you can dip it in a little bowl of water and put some dish soap in it that'll keep the silicone from sticking to your finger in our case we got the popsicle stick wet and then even let it soak while we are putting on the silicone now as far as getting the silicone behind the faucet there is no real easy way you just kind of have to fit it in where you can and rotate the gun back and forth around the different fixtures until you can get some level of silicone all the way across that joint behind the faucet they do make smaller squeezable bottles of silicone sealant that can fit in smaller spaces I'll put a link to one of those below the video so one more time here's the shape of the popsicle stick we just cut the corners off with a utility knife and then use that to smooth the silicone out so the narrowness of the popsicle stick will allow you to get back behind the faucet fixtures to make a nice smooth finish so here's the finished product now we've got a nice mold resistant waterproof joint between the wall and the backsplash and the sink and here it is with the mirror up when it's all finished that's it thanks for watching please subscribe to my channel [Music]
