How to Apply Retinol with Dr. Bomer

Hi I'm dr. Bomer and I'm going to teach you about how to apply retinol today I have already washed my face and I've brushed my teeth the brushing of the teeth is also very important we want the water to be completely dry on the face we don't want any moisture on the face when we apply retinol after I wash my face I already applied TNS recovery complex and Lytera and that is completely soaked in so now I'm going to move on to my retinol application I am using the retinol + MD from Jan Marini which is a 1% and it's actually a pretty strong retinol I have acclimated to this stronger retinol over a period of many years and I first started with a very light concentration retinol because my skin was very sensitive so I'm going to go ahead and apply actually a full pump which is the amount that I can tolerate and I have again worked up to this level it is important that everybody gradually start at a lighter strength retinol and slowly work up to the concentration that they can tolerate and so I'm going to get this evenly on my fingers and I start on the outside of my face and up onto my forehead and along my jawline where my skin is less sensitive I come down onto the bridge of my nose and now I'm at the point where I don't have nearly as much product on my fingers and I can start working into where I am more sensitive and we all are more sensitive in the center part of our face on the upper part of the lip I don't down believe below on the chin and now I have very little left I'm going to actually get closer to my eye underneath my brow bone into the corners of my eye not actually right near the eyelashes still about a finger breadth away and then underneath my eye and then actually into the corners of my nose the actual edges of my lips and then I'm feathering what I have into the edges of my hairline onto my earlobes which I actually have earrings on right now what you don't usually but it is good to get the ear lobes down on underneath the chin and back here and now I'm going to follow with a moisturizer which is really important after retinol because the retinol is somewhat drying for the skin and that's going to help keep my skin nice plump and hydrated so I hope you enjoyed this educational video on how to apply retinol it is really important to understand the steps of how to do it so that you have consistent results without irritation
