My two favorite parts:

Narrator: A half that had everyone in the world asking one question...

[cut to Bill Belichick]

BB: Where's McVay? Where's McVay? I can't find him.

Absolutely savage.

And:

We've been here before; the confetti, the hugs and kisses, that familiar pose. It's all so 2016. And 2014. And 2004. And '03. And oh brother what is it about this dynasty that it won't die?

Narrator's deadpan is perfect.

Good god. That play where Van Noy takes out the underneath route and then forces Goff out of bounds is legendary. Shows what kind of high-IQ player he is

good evening from Atlanta Georgia and inside the mercedes-benz stadium and a Superbowl 53 between the New England Patriots and the NFC champion Los Angeles Rams Toula who blob out to game in this Bill Belichick of course in his ninth Super Bowl as a head coach Sean McVeigh only his second year as a head coach in the NFL like you know a man so much respect for you like what the way that you guys are able to shift your identity and I mean week in and week out it's unbelievable man so much respect guys are playing good now he touched up in the offing yeah not look forward to that looking forward to catching up but really how much respect for you in the way [Music] Thank You ppreciate coach the Patriots have come back to the Super Bowl for the third straight year and for the fourth time in the last five let's go baby why we play baby the Rams already they're ready for this moment they're ready to play they're ready to take on the Patriots the Patriots have owned the past the Rams represent the future tonight they play in the present I can't wait to see what they put their plan is impassive hey you not his game that you cannot esteem you play for each other and fight for your brothers man for you a champion didn't get that by yourself you get that what'd he talk to me [Music] let's go peepee men do it all kind of night do it [Music] [Applause] [Applause] in the first half New England took a simple approach get the ball in the hands of your most dynamic player and keep your opponent's far from it it's something they learned the hard way last time they faced a Wade Phillips led defense in the postseason [Applause] Phillips Broncos hit Tom Brady 21 times including two to half sacks by their best defender von Miller [Applause] their use of man coverage bottled up New England's top receiver Julian Edelman holding in 253 yards his worst postseason performance since becoming a starter [Applause] Oh also floors [Applause] do we do now if New England was going to avoid history repeating they need to stop two-time Defensive Player of the Year Aaron Donald controlled aggression controlled aggression controlled aggression big boys need you let's go this is a matchup that I am excited to watch Eric top the best offensive player in the National Football League going against the smartest coaches [Applause] the Patriots use two offensive linemen on Donald on 72% of their first half pass attempts holding him to a single quarterback head [Applause] [Music] but I feel like I let my team down just the big stage that's what you working for and I felt like I wasn't there when we when we needed a big play down and attack one accord so i'm china i cant even split it why do you think I've been game Phillips Rams have played more zone this season than his Broncos units ever did with his previous success against Edelman using man they tried both with Brady having time neither worked [Applause] [Music] [Applause] versus zone Edelman found the holes weights got to get out of song or it's gonna be a long day Julien element is carving up the middle of the field against la verses man his quickness allowed him to use his opponent's leverage against them this is just a great problem this is why Edelman has like a gazillion catches in the playoffs he wins by five yards sigh leverage on the motion square them up oh we better run out doesn't have to double him I've been fine I think I feel like I've been finding it and I've been bringing them in and throwing them because they I see that he's waiting for me so I gotta sell that and get out just trying to get it open your job as a receivers he could open and catch the ball and block in the wrong game with that yardage element now second only the Jerry Rice in the postseason that woman's just too good you can't match him up with a linebacker they're doing this for a reason to get Julian element matched up on the same line back yeah once I looked at Tom Brady he said this I was like sounds good that woman is killing whoever is on him hey you from Richmond you're from Richmond if I Richmond I'm a baby boy - man come on I know I understand I understand we'll get after you played the best game he has all year he just cemented himself you know again in the history of the NFL for for what his accomplishments are to the 31st down Patriots on the third down play Wade Phillips called a man defense the coverage worked on the outside it didn't against Edelman in the slot [Music] watch this route Edelman just 10 yards away from Roby Coleman I mean it's almost laughable to think think you're gonna cover him one-on-one Edelman's route wouldn't have come open unless Brady had time the Patriots once again used to lineman on Donald giving Brady a clean pocket [Music] Julian always gives us those kind of clays it wasn't like we couldn't move the ball we just weren't able to it doesn't show up on the scoreboard in the first half Brady and Edelman connected on seven of eight targets for 93 yards but the Patriots managed just three points let's get some point Tech down fortunately New England's defense had their own historic half defense was unreal yes it's pretty crazy they should be MVP told e here's a bird's-eye view of the won first half scoring play in Super Bowl 50 3 3 nothing New England in the second quarter a half that had everyone in the world asking one question Chris McVeigh where's McVeigh I can't find where was Sean McVeigh the +40 okay I gotta I gotta I gotta come yep more specifically where was his juggernaut offense [Music] the truth is McVeigh is still the new kid on the block and this was the Super Bowl Bella checks turf alright Jared listen to this alright here we go Bella checks Patriots shut down the next generation Rams the old-fashioned way by out hitting outsmarting and out working them so that series fizzles out as well perhaps haven't done much in this a feather then to first downs 57 total yards that's it I stop I stop [Applause] good pressure that's a good pressure [Applause] that's a few yeah turbo set the Patriots don't just enjoy winning they enjoy playing that's good Java Selma dandy Shelton for every great play made by a patriot there's another patriot on the field loving the physicality of football [Music] [Music] and a third Patriot beating his block because he's following the game plan this is a great plan by Belichick he's not gonna go sideways he's gonna go vertical watch them he just go straight up the field you have two guys in the backfield keep land vertical now keep Lambert one and pass just get vertical it wasn't just the vertical penetration that stymied the Rams vaunted run and play action games look no further than the Rams second play the Patriots played buzz coverage with a safety coming down to hunt up the crossing route and linebacker Kyle van Noy made one of the coolest plays of the Superbowl taking out jared Goff's underneath route and then redirect it to chase golf out of bounds [Music] that's it right there [Applause] Bella check would be the first to tell you coaches coach and players play he's not the one shedding blocks he's not the one covering Brandon cooks he's not the one knocking passes away with a big head in the back great timing to get his hand right in there perfect technique but when it comes to putting players in the best position to beat the opponent no one has ever done it better there's only so many things you can do with 11 players on a football field Bill Belichick knows them all and while his players don't often make the all-pro team they are all pros [Applause] and can't determine who's the down lineman and who's pressuring or not he feels that on the third and seven goth adjusted his protection bringing in a seventh blocker and sliding his line and CJ Anderson to the left to account for the Blitz that left Dante Hightower with a winnable one-on-one pass rush opportunity we're getting pressure okay we're getting pressure the Patriots forced the punt but they could have had more they could have had points dangerous throw anyway because the Patriots were jumping in front of that crowd [Applause] sort of Anderson stated I got out way Robert Devin McCourty was responsible for Anderson and coverage when Anderson blocked McCourty was free to freelance Oh picked it I'm gonna pick it and I'm like this I'm like this and they deflected that along disguise dude way to hang down in there he had no idea [Music] yeah at halftime adjustments three Rams zero holy help what a great job defense is done saw you can ask for min but hey we got one half right now man you guys should feel real good about where we're at guys all good believe it man me too man all right let's get it done midway through the third quarter Shawn McVeigh's offense started to click yeah [Music] [Applause] converting for the first time on third down Rams right now with their best strive to go so right here I'll pin it we'll get a nice lip right right here go get a nice lip right here the young play calling prodigy was hitting his stride but the old defensive master was prepared with an in-game adjustment [Music] play fake Godfather drop as time shows the growth depends on wide open receiver coats [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] a touchdown they did and you saw both the Cortese in the frame one watching the other making good pleasure cooks does a great job throwing his hand up he sees no coverage back here no safety offseason late Jason but Cordy saves six points they let him go in coverage he had to wait for the ball Jared sees him wait defender to come in and make a play on the ball write it right away now she's waiting and waiting great the balls in there forever it is an unbelievable play by Jason McCord II he comes from the opposite side of the field and makes that play he's not supposed to be there actually Jason McCourty was exactly where the Patriots wanted him to be based on a play from early in the game isn't it the same play what we told Jay to get back that's the same play it's the same play from the first quarter the Rams have run the same route combination with Brandon cooks post pattern breaking open behind his safeties Brandon but heavy pass pressure had prevented the deep throw okay how do we have that or what [Applause] New England realized its quarters coverage was vulnerable to the combination an instructed Jason McCourty to sink to the middle to help cover the post route in the future just got to keep or just keep on yeah we talked about it when the play came up again in the third quarter cornerback Stephon Gilmore inexplicably dropped cooks post route and only Jason McCord ease awareness and hustle would keep the Patriots in the lead hey did you see him drop them that's what happened on the pylon post Phil that's all oh yeah you just feel yeah that'd be one of those deals where if you see him everybody jump Brandon cooks he was underneath the goalpost and went off let it go there wasn't a patriot within 10 yards Jason McCourty closed quickly that should have been six [Music] instead of the game's first touchdown it was the best offensive play in the lowest-scoring Super Bowl ever Bill Belichick's defense went right back to being assignment perfect across the board just turned into a long field instead of a 44-yard attempt it turns into a 53-yard try for Greg Suhr line [Applause] from the right hash table hold of Johnny Hecker his first attempt this evening he's ready snap his back hold his down the kick clears the line and Greg Suhr line got it yes so we just over a quarter to play in Super Bowl 53 it's a new game 3 apiece 3 2 3 what the hell TenPoint 500 let's get a lot of receivers look what's made a good catch all right I mean he's gonna make one we're okay we got a play quicker with better communication we missed a double we missed the post okay we just got to get it communicated and play faster all right we have no problems with anything and we just can get it lined up right and do it for nearly three and a half quarters the Rams had smothered one of the game's most explosive offensive attacks you just had to worry about one play at a time and just keep knocking at the door and then just keep on working big drive big drive I need a plate let's go baby right here all right football let's go we grinded it out it was tough they they made every play tough tonight on their 11th possession the Patriots finally broke through with a turning point thanks to a few schematic adjustments by offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels [Applause] that's Josh the good put together a good driver [Applause] first down in ten Brady and the Patriots from there 31 yard line play fake to Michele Brady stands enlasa Turner Bukowski down the right sideline makes the catch face chopped down by W calm whoever gets called on whoever's number it is was crunch time somehow we pull it off and we need to make the plays we make a place the only touchdown drive of Super Bowl 53 began with the two back one tight end set since New England had run the ball 66% of the time on first down la was expecting run instead Tom Brady faked the handoff to Sony Michele which gave Gronkowski a chance to sell his block then release up the sideline for the completion just a great job by Crocs selling her on this catch for grande tonight turns out the play was drawn up by McDaniels just moments earlier [Applause] on the next play McDaniel's switched things up again [Applause] a chance start here [Applause] tv12 alone in the shotgun drops back stands and throws to Edelman makes that catches the 45 turns left and Lenny slides past the 40 yard line Edelman fieldwork there's no way [Applause] on the completion to Edelman the Patriots deployed 22 personnel to backs and to tight ends a grouping that is often an indicator of run that caused the Rams to match up with their base 3-4 defense but instead of lining up in a tightly compacted run formation McDaniels spread out his big personnel in an empty set with Brady in the shotgun a predominant passing formation the play known as Haas y Juke called for the backs to run hitches on the outside the tight ends ran seam routes on the inside against the Rams linebackers and safeties blown wide out Julian Edelman ran an option route against an overmatched linebacker we're gonna come back to that I can promise you they just saw what that looked like they are gonna ride this point once they find you have a weakness it's gonna keep coming at you now McDaniels called poss why Duke out of 22 personnel on three straight plays a decision that enabled the Patriots to move the ball consistently on route to the decisive score well again I think that key breakthrough on I came with you know with the when Josh once of a anyway Dianna's met Grady Johnson when we talked about that on the sidelines one of the two tight end offense but we spread them out and were able to complete some passes and they go empty again with Rex Burkhead out to the left side Brady looking that way at the snap he throws to birth had to catch at the 34 he goes out of bounds left sideline oh boy revs good work came back with the exact same play they just made it look different Jim with motion this is a Tom Brady I know right now number 12 is in the rhythm or spread them out he's taken what the defense is given a patience patience I'm telling he's gonna cut one loose right down the seam here second down and three from the 31 Julien trots in motion brands can't light up I never saw here from the Rams 31 shotgun snap pretty dropping back lobs a throw [Applause] incredible catch I knew it was gonna come to me I just had a feeling you know we ran the play like two plays before kind of beat the guy had a little leverage McDaniel saw it he repeated the play again Tom threw that ball where it needed to be went and made the play so it was huge [Applause] perfectly thrown [Music] [Applause] see folks that's one for posture [Applause] [Music] it was a great throw and an even better adjustment by braiding the pre-snap motion by Edelman caused confusion for the Rams defenders making them line up incorrectly initially linebacker Corey Littleton followed Edelman across the formation moments before the snap Littleton realized he was still responsible for Gronkowski and tried to race back to cover him but it was too late Gronkowski got a free release off the line and that sliver of space was all Gronk needed to get open for the longest game of the night trying to find a way to figure out whose cover the Rams a Brady season and it's a 29 yard strike the Rams struggles with Haase were surprising since it's been a staple of the Patriots offense for years in fact McDaniels ran the same concept several times against Wade Phillips defense in the 2015 AFC championship game first play in the redzone the first one for the game on the other side from the two first and goal games to Michelle Watson left [Applause] shrinks quarters that we have that save us go down but it's fourth-quarter that's money time for the greatest guy ever give it the ball over the dates on the line cool as a cucumber good job good job great throw the success of the drive could also be attributed to excellent pass protection especially by left guard Joe Tunney twice defaced offensive MVP Aaron Donald one on one both times to knee came out on top [Music] [Applause] laughs I was going me too on the world not only get a few I got a window Brady on that drive four four four four sixty-seven and really surgical three different guys on the exact same play call and here we go so with seven minutes to go the Patriots are back in front 10 3 maybe 15 calls left in this game huh let's go through and get them right here let's just know what we're gonna call here all right makes you read the right person all in the game and you know we know what we're doing [Applause] [Music] you trying to make a home run right now the Rams gained just 157 yards through the game's first 53 minutes but it took them just under three minutes to gain 48 yards and put themselves on the edge of the red zone God stands on the logo and deals right side it's brought in at the 30 by Robert woods [Applause] first and ten rants in the twenty-seven of New England golf pros right side over the top looking for cooks he's depth at the goal line incomplete thus every cooks from the football second I'll get a pic the second down and ten oh they're coming here to comment out golf with three to the left takes the snap karma not have lift-off throws at the right [Applause] [Applause] a ball intended for Brandon cooks that golf put up for grabs and it's pick by Stephane Gill Bowl [Applause] we're resilient we can't tell me they came in too late [Applause] Hey [Applause] stephane Gilmore's pick was made possible by a perfectly timed Patriots blitz Florez rusher on number 16 you know the kid was good at cracking he did there [Applause] lined up and cover zero the Patriots rushed seven while the Rams had just six blockers in to protect leaving Darren Harmon unaccounted for well obviously we're creating the pressure to make them make the tough decisions rain was thought corners are off to read in the quarterback that there's a better job of just pulling up finding the football and they gonna play on the ball and coming down with it I can't put us in that situation I knew they were bringing cover zero blitz there and try to hit Brandon on the COBOL and Gilmore was too far off for me to make that decision a decision by me I knew long when I get towards the touchdown and they like to take shots and I was able to get his own vision on it and I knew he's go check it up and I made it very play I just know I couldn't drop it you know that I've seen it the whole time it's probably one of the easiest Peaks I had all year it was covered zero quarter might have to get the ball out his hands my reaction was more so try to really get a VI but you know wasn't really able to it you made a play let's go hey let's end it Hey let's run this down their throat with just over 4 minutes remaining New England went to the ground to try and put the Rams away all about runs right past the 10 to the 15 20 fish your cousin left past the 25 first down to England [Applause] Sonne Michelle helped get the Patriots out of the shadow of their own goalpost thanks to blocks by left guard Joe Tunney and right tackle Marcus cannon chugging Michelle does a great job Reed is blocked witness foot in the ground making the safety miss beginning at an action yard in the final minutes of Super Bowl 53 it was the Patriots power run game that helped bleed the clock leading to one final decision from the game's greatest coach and quarterback I always kick that field goal to 4 to get rid on the field goal hook in the tingle 40-yarder games over all right let's go you're gonna see them swagger the right leg kick driven to the upright and then [Applause] and the Patriots there's six Super Bowl title [Music] yes it's Telangana state journey and for the Los Angeles Rams difficult difficult game to watch at the end of a very very incredible and exciting season my god what am i my brother man I don't know where life takes us you always be my brother man didn't be here without you oh yeah it's awesome for bringing another championship home table ready Bill Belichick and their ninth Super Bowl together six-time champion I am yes crazy bro yeah coach I appreciate him in MVP long year man I appreciate as I watch Brazil you too buddy I appreciate what a year through the down stair and big man zero the way you treated me on the whole thing was awesome like a fatherly dinner buddy you earned it thank you we'll see pop up grandpa our coach hey baby [Applause] this is good as it gets right here this is blocks last game what a way to go out [Music] we've been here before the confetti the hugs and kisses [Music] that familiar pose it's also 2016 and 2014 and 2004 and o3 and oh brother what is it about this dynasty that it won't die because the funny thing is they were dead or left for it earlier this season after the Jags Maldon weak to the Lions piled on a week later nobody this is a microcosm of what they are right now offensively two consecutive double digit losses pundits were calling the Pats patsies Brady was too old Belichick was checked out he couldn't even be bothered to adjust the postgame microphone he's gonna have to work our way out of it obviously we've got a little work to do so it's no shortcut nobody's away it's gonna be literally over then back like a light switch the Patriots were on guys you barely knew we're making plays you could hardly believe sure it helped that Julian Edelman came back and read five after not playing for 606 days join first catch in more than a year and while number 11 did it like no one else what it was corkscrew those defender keeping the play alive he had lots of help like James White who became the first Patriot with more than 400 yards rushing James White and 700 yards receiving in the same season throw in a lockdown secondary and six straight wins came quick Devin McCourty even hit 22 point oh five miles per hour on this interception return fastest clocking in the league all year they won close games in the clutch and they kept on prevailing all the way to a 10th straight AFC East title teams usually fail from the top down but this year's Patriots won from the bottom up seems those old pros weren't ready for pasture just yet the five for the ninth straight year the dynasty still lives for the Patriots the secret to their success I just like went in that's like winning you know what happened in the playoffs eviscerated the Chargers then outlasted the upstarts which brings us back to the confetti the hugs and those kisses but let's go even further back to that week 3 press conference because it reveals the secret to the Patriots success there is no secret I mean there's no magic play you can call this just comes on to execution they want to catch it it's not one thing it's everything and everybody in New England it's personal here so now we're gonna be somewhere sit back feet kicked up and somebody glass tell me about tell me about the 18 team don't forget what it felt like when I said you wouldn't get enough you shouldn't be here you can't play your old exactly right team [Laughter] how sweet is this one of all the ones you've had it's sweet it's sweet gentlemen everybody counted us out from the beginning of the season midseason Bella chat and braided the most potent duo since steel meth fire what will motivate you to come back how will you reset and do it all over again look at this it's not motivates you why quit now New England not only has the secret to football but apparently the Fountain of Youth as well [Music] you
