you know I'm getting paid 74 dollars to be here [Applause] [Music] you know I try to save a dollar just like anybody else and you know we have properties all over the Upstate and obviously you know there are some places you can register vehicles that are cheaper than other places and we have a lake house that we usually register our new cars that save a little money on property taxes everybody does it from time to time whatever so I Richard my new pickup truck down to Lake House a big buildup I mean I own it so it works and you know saved on property tax and everything went good for a few years until my parents who live at the lake house get a summons from the court for me I've got jury duty in Oconee County and there's only one problem I live in Greenville County it's about an hour away and I tried every way in the world I called in and just short of telling them I'm dying of something I gave them that excuse and there was no way of me getting out of this I have to go down so I'll put it off got the date change several times but I had to do it couldn't get out of it Monday morning I get up 9 o'clock and more I gotta be at the courthouse in Oconee County and Oconee County is a very small town if your mayor must worry about the windows the courthouse is dead across the street from where I bought all this trailer load of windows from so that explains anything's a very small town one thing that is very interesting though the courthouse it's a real pretty old-school brick courthouse but then it's got a newer building with a drive-through I'm like a drive-through to pay child support now keep in mind Oconee they don't even have a damn McDonald's but they have a drive-through to pay child support apparently the only thing pulls out in Oconee County is the couch so here I am you know at the Oconee courthouse tire loop Center and slash child support payment center and and I'm sitting there waiting you know for jury do you have to be chosen here I'm in a room by 50 people and I'm thinking to myself the judge comes out he's like a substitute judge he's not even the real judge he they they drugged him him from somewhere else and he came in and he said all right I'm gonna call your Jordan I'm relieved it's a little sticker he said I'm gonna call your juror number he said you stand up you give me your full name what you do for a living who you're employed by I'm thinking to myself I've got to think of a job that I do that would make it like we don't want him for a juror also he said anything that would keep you from being a juror in a drug-related case meth then I started thinking about it and I heard guys talking about like they had like day jobs dealing with the public that they he let him go and I'm like I got this juror 128 Robert Pitts on-air radio personality for intercom radio stations he has slides glasses down the judge saying guys you ain't one of those DJ's that runs his mouth about his day and I said I can be sir you ever seen the inside of a jail cell mr. Pitts sauce that back down so I'm standing there I said well still gonna be chosen so they call us up one at a time you know of course you know prosecutor and the defense you know and I'm standing up there and they chose me so I sit down and I noticed there was a very attractive redhead they got chosen also and she happened to be sitting beside me I made me a new friend that day super-nice and we're laughing and cutting up and you know I mean having a nothing better to do but hanging out the courthouse they weren't doing anything with the trial that day we're just standing around waiting so we go to lunch and yeah we get to laughing and cutting up and you know one big thing about the court is they won't let you bring your phone in yo so it's so weird having your phone in your truck or your car on importantly I'm having phantom vibrations for a phone that I don't even have like I'm feeling it vibrating and I don't even have the damn phone with me so we were talking about that she said yeah they let me bring my phone in I said really why they let you bring your phone cuz I'm over here trying to figure out a way to keister this damn thing in and I'm thinking about someone Hilda have to get a phone such a big screen you know and you know she said the other let me carry my phone and she said I just stuck it my purse that even look at it you know she's got this little person I said really she said give me your phone when we get back I'll just take it my purse we get back or else we will right in not a word was said we walk both right through we got in the elevator she hands me my phone back yeah and this this girl's gorgeous she's a Clemson cheerleader you know she may be a rally cat in real life but this week she was my phone mule so we're sitting there in the juror the the deliberation room I guess what you called her whatever and we're sitting back there I'm scrolling through I'm online looking at cars found a really nice 69 SS 350 car matching numbers x11 car four-speed hugger orange I mean it just checks every redneck green messaging back and forth prices right he's local I said hey here's my address can you run it by my shop he so I'm actually off this afternoon I said if the car checks out I rot you check on the spot for it so I takes my dad from court saying hey I got a guy bring by a 69 Camaro this is how much it's a nice car I'd buy so now I get to look in then I found a van seem that bought it twelve hundred bucks in Oconee County I was on Facebook marketplace then what I was like you know Amazon I was buying I was stocking up on everything you know moving into new house and you know I'm buying up just just crazy stuff and I mean why I'm doing all my shop and this is good this is so convenient then the shipper was coming I had a 68 c10 that just sold was going to Nashville so I had the shipper gettin him lined up to go to pick up that truck I mean it's so good I'm getting something done it's not a total waste of time so we've got a problem in Greenville so I'm in Oconee but I got a problem in Greenville we got a guy that loves to buy charolette trucks he buys the square bodies and the OBS trucks up he's a little bottom feeder flipper and it it puts joy in my heart making his life a living hell I live to make his life hard and he lives in a small town I was at Spartanburg South Carolina which is right above Greenville here there was a bright red Oviatt popped up online and I mean literally this truck is in his backyard and it's like the perfect OBS truck bright red good color super low miles one owner pawpaw truck this guy would be elevating and I bought it sight unseen just to keep him from getting it well I'm stuck in court how am I gonna get the truck I called my buddy up guy says be off work at 4:00 I had him sitting in his driveway at 3:30 part behind it to pay him so I got that ball was in court and then my mom sides you know what - clay I'm getting tired of it keep my I'm still sitting in court and so me and my mom were texting back forth buy her another car she said want something sporty my mom said several Corvettes over the years I got the coolest 60 year old mom in the world lovesick speed vets so started doing a little digging around and something was really cool was we actually had a Salesman for the local Chevrolet dealership in the juror room with us and so we got talking about Corvettes and he said the owner's son has a 2013 427 60th anniversary event 505 horsepower just a badass car bright red chrome wheels I mean black top black leather loaded out every option it's got 13,000 miles on it he said you know I don't know what he wants for it so well I left court that day I swung by the Chevrolet dealership down and checked it out his sitting in the showroom in it was absolutely perfect we got the deal put together on that got it bought got a great deal on it it'll sell a whole lot Corvettes in Oconee County um sir so they were excited to move it got that done got mom in a new ride she loves it drives it every day and so that that's good so we got that ball got the truck delivered got the red OBS truck in got the come here like I'm walking in the shop like the later of that evening and I'm seeing cars I'm like where the hell this come from where's this van come from Oh about earlier you know but I love it I was actually getting something done and the thing that was funny was and now back to the being in court they're gonna be serious this is juror this is like my civic duty to be here you know I'm getting paid 74 dollars to be here so you know and of course you know they said Rob how do you feel about it guilty you know just insulin I mean he's open to shut the atom on videotape it was a pretty unanimous decision it was kind of like asking one of my friends were voting for Hillary but one of the funniest things is they left the evidence in the jury room and it's a drug case so part of the evidence was drugs and there's a bag of meth and so we're taking selfies with it you know i'ma take post no social media or anything about those layers but from warning for my attorney I shouldn't share that picture because that's bad but anyway it was fun for summer been close to meThe before and so the judge comes in and tells us about drugs he's tell us about meth and tell us that you know I'm thinking like hell they're making it everywhere now is what are you he said there don't even making it anymore they're actually buying it already made overseas and I'm like it's pretty damn bad when you can get good dope made in the USA anymore you know and a judge laughs nice I've never really thought of it like that but yes yes I guess I guess so I actually got out quarterly that day everything was done they need us anymore I did about $150,000 in transactions while I was in court coming and going bought three sold two and put mama in a bright red vent to boot so it was a good day and even got my check for $74 two weeks later that's a tip are you looking to buy your dream car premier Financial Services offers the flexibility of financing with the tax benefits of leasing the PFS simple lease offers quick approvals and easy termination when you are ready for the next car visit our website and follow us for more
