How It Feels To Be 100% Immersed In Giant Warm Orbeez

like to swim around in it not too long ago we took a hot tub and filled it with water balloons that wasn't full full but it had quite a few in there and i liked the sensation i thought it might be a little entertaining to try something similar with the large size water beads here's the basic idea we've got a hot tub that really is in need of some orbeez so we got 3 500 of them the large sized ones we're gonna let them expand to their full size then swim around and see what it's like to sit in a hot tub full of hot orbeez so these are not quite orbeez they're the off brand and these get to be about the size of almost a ping pong ball they're pretty big they can get larger than that if you put them in pure water the the quality of the water is pretty important with these but between a ping-pong ball and uh knock i've never seen one as large as a baseball but they get pretty big depending on the water now we're gonna be using this hot tub which is hose water treated with a couple pool chemicals so it's not pure it's not distilled by any means but we have a lot of orbeez each one of these containers is supposed to hold about 300 and i think we have 14 containers of them so that's you know a lot gonna be a few orbeez uh and we're going to put them all in the hot tub and let them expand in the hot tub the idea is that while other people have put orbeez in pools before we want the orbeez themselves to be at the hot tub temperature while we swim around in it so we're going to put them in let them sit for a day or two until they seem like they've fully expanded and then see what that is like oh it's so warm should be at about 104 degrees fahrenheit it's quite warm we got one uh let's just let that fill oh we'll let those two expand and then we'll add some more after they're full right okay yeah i'm just gonna add a few three four four five three hundred it's probably better we are using this hot tub because it's not in terribly good condition this hot tub was expressly purchased and set up for the use of weird experiments like when we floated on rice cakes and stuff unfortunately the downside of that is that the jets are not set up to work it would be kind of fun to have the jets going with the orbeez in it it was never even wired up for that i don't know if the jets are even functional on this hot tub so we can't turn the jets on but i can't still play around on this thing this is kind of fun all right so we're going to go ahead and leave this we need about 24 to 36 hours before they're going to be fully expanded so enjoy yeah i'll just chill here for 36 hours see you tomorrow now it is going to be awesome to play in those orbeez but it's also going to take a day or two for them to absorb all the water they can fortunately we have a great way accurate then we had 4 200 and that wasn't enough so we went ahead and we bought another six thousand bringing it up to about ten thousand ten thousand couple hundred and guys it's still not enough it's cool but it's not enough i do wanna address our little fountain that we have happening i love that the heater like it sends the newly heated air and bubbles and the orbeez while they're inflated are like so close to the same density as water that the very slight push is just lifting orbeez up in this lovely circular fountain it's quite nice but we want more guys so we've ordered how many more another 20 000. all right guys we're gonna add some more we'll come back after the weekend we'll let you know all right we got another twenty thousand twenty pounds we got an extra twenty thousand meaning we now have about thirty thousand giant orbeez in this hot tub and oh it's looking so good i haven't seen it yet i'm very excited [Applause] the perfect amount of orbeez this is ridiculous yes now there's only one thing i'm sad about you guys it is uh the 2nd of march so you have an idea of when we're filming this there's snow everywhere in the yard but it's actually warm out it's about 55 degrees out right now today happens to be a great pseudo spring day and we're jumping in a hot tub much warmer than it was when we put the orbeez in in the first place that is okay i'm not mad you can see my hand right through the orbeez because even though they have color they're translucent color and you can just see right through them there's too many layers in the middle after a while it does get to a point where you can't see down through them anymore um and there is some variety like two orbeez both blue but when you put them in the water like one of them shows up more than the other one and then a pink and a green same thing yeah and then some of them are like very old they just sort of disappear and then but put that one next to it and it's super visible uh-huh so they're the variety is pretty entertaining uh the white ones stand out i think i love the white ones i think the white ones don't have a pigment i think it's a particulate suspended in it okay and so it's not a perfectly smooth color no it's like a little moon yeah it looks like a little moon i like it oh it feels strange on my feet like i can feel it every time i move it's just like a thousand little like little bubbles or something pressing and bumping up against my legs oh that is so weird and while it's quite full it's not so full that there's no movement like all the orbeez can still move around and push around and with when the water gets flowing they move with the flow of the water i don't feel the same about this it's okay you know when you're swimming in the ocean and something touches your foot and you freak out but now it's ten thousand things attached to a thousand things touching my feet oh i'm loving it okay i'm getting in all the way oh bubbly bubbly oh that's so funny feeling just like every time you move like a little bit it's just like getting very gently poked or something never just some of them are like weak yeah they they don't hold their shape well and they're softer yeah i mean this is the same thing it's just a softer consistency yeah and some of them are just broken in half because they're falling apart the heat can't be helping them one of the things that's really fun about the orbeez is that the clear ones they're like invisible they have the same refractive index as water they bend light the same way and so my hands are currently full of clear orbeez which you can't see under water but then as soon as i bring my hands up you can tell how many i'm holding and they just disappear in fact pretty much all you can see of them is their shadow on my hands you can see those shadows but you can't see the actual orbeez until i come up out of the water they're also very hard to hold on to in large quantities so i keep coming up with fewer because i go down and when they're fully absorbed with water like they're just barely heavier than water itself like they sink but they but they take like no effort to get them to all float up to the surface and just kind of stay there or near the surface for a while orbeez i believe are made of sodium polyacrylate which is a polymer that absorbs water really well and there's a lot of different forms of it there's the kind that turns into instant snow when you add water to it sodium polyacrylate in a different form is the same stuff that's found in diaper gel it absorbs water so quickly and easily that when it's in a diaper waste liquid gets into the diaper and it just gets absorbed so it doesn't run anywhere [Music] guys we filled an entire hot tub full of giant orbeez this is one of the most
