hello friends this is UUM thanks for joining me today I'm sharing how I got to living with less than 90 things as an extreme minimalist I'll share the five steps that helped me manifest my need for freedom and simplicity with a lifestyle that doesn't really require me to be stationary I'm able to fit all of my possessions in one backpack and to also stay wherever I choose to be so at the moment I've been living temporarily in my mom's spare room in Japan for several months and being here in the way that I choose to be it required me some time to to actually arrive in this moment of simple nomadic living for me it took some mindful planning also discipline as well as self learning to be able to manifest my current way of beingness so the five mindset approaches as well as these steps that helped me on this path of simplicity of freedom and non-attachment includes first trusting my own instinct and also prioritizing my authentic self also surrendering negative conditioning and the third step is prioritizing my comfort which is very important also continuously learning and solving problems and finally finding happiness during the unfolding through self rewards and personal motivations all of these tools I used throughout my transition to be able to cultivate an overall mindset that is less resistant to all the change and less defensive against the in avril ups and downs of making lifestyle changes as I was slowly starting to strip away my identity as a mindless consumer in the past as I was a Shopaholic I felt a bit into the confusion of not knowing my true identity not knowing what I was trying to achieve by decluttering and not knowing what was at the end of letting go in Sencha in such an intense way the inevitable question for me was what was the ultimate goal of living with less and derail II a bit from the norm and by imagining the emptiness that remains after simplifying after decluttering I felt kind of fearful of seeing myself without all the things that defined Who I am and I felt anxious not being able to hold a grip on something solid on the things that molded me that shaped me that I identified me and kind of categorized me into somewhere I was supposed to belong and this insecurity this this doubtful thought made me fearful of pursuing my naked true self who stripped away from her given roles without the possessions to really clearly define her and later I just came to an understanding through my inner work but being a consumer and fulfilling certain roles and being a physical being with the physical experience are not necessarily opportunities I should deny within myself so it doesn't always have to be emptiness that remains after minimizing and letting go and I realized that I can still be a part of the whole and do the things that everyone else does but at the same time I can choose to do it out of my own will in my own time in my own way in my own methods and intentions so the first step was to realize this that minimalism doesn't always have to be all or nothing the only distinction from my past self and my present self as an extreme minimalist is just that I have a more intentional approach a more cautious approach to my consumption as well as my life and the next step to take this realization further was to decondition the mind from all the fear and anxiety response that was triggered by the perceived physical lag by the scarcity and lack mindset so I worked on releasing this initial mental block of seeing minimalism us as automatically deprivation and I approach this by simply rewiring the brain into embracing material limitation as actually a pathway towards healthy and mindful consumption which at first can be very difficult to grasp in this way I experience that the mind becomes less fearful of the concept of less because it starts to understand that living with less simply the benefit that comes after making fulfilling and conscious choices so this step is all about releasing also surrendering and expanding the mind into thinking alternative ways of approaching what it means to live with less and as I started to release the assumptions than I had about minimalism as solely a method of reduction in a way of being who scares I started to also explore new ways to ease into this process of up septons and realization of the duality of minimalism I was at first full of inner doubt but I gradually opened up as I reminded myself that I can always take it easy in a way that is both comfortable but productive at the same time and by letting myself know that I was first and foremost prioritizing comfort and that I cared deeply about how I feel during the transition of letting go I was slowly able to encourage myself to to build the confidence the self trust and self empowerment in order to slowly move forward step by step into extreme animals and throughout the whole process I kept up with my mindset that prioritized flexibility that prioritize being compassionate to myself and others and that took priority in comfort and inner peace more than the ultimate goal that I had more than the ultimate reward that I was seeking the next step for me after knowing all of that that I have all the time in the world and that I can if I choose to take it really slow I started to invest in some self learning in personal development and I took my time to revisit all the helpful books that enlightened me like the goodbye things by homeo Sasaki as well as more advanced books like letting go by David or Hawkins and I got into courses into online form communities including some Facebook groups as well as some decluttering workbooks and ebooks and also if anyone else is on a similar path of learning and figuring things out I would also love to recommend our Healy Circle online forum if you're interested in receiving help from our community and for the online classes I think that Aaron boils Skillshare course everyday minimalism find a common creativity in living simply can also be a good source of mindful learning and from what I learned Aaron focuses on practicing minimalism with a flexible and peaceful approach so if you wish to other learning materials that you know of that you've used feel free to drop them in the comments below to share with us the final step is to continue rewarding myself and to also recognize that even the smallest progress the smallest details in my journey is meaningful this way I'm able to appreciate my fullest potential even during the unfolding without sacrificing the gift of the present moment and to me it's a lot about the subtleties like the small moments of joy that puts smile on my face overall I do think from my six years of diving into minimalism as well as other supporting practices I feel that it's still an endless tricked journey it's a experiment adventure in a way of self exploration and of course I don't have it all figured out I'm always unfolding and manifesting new paths and I'm happy to allow others to create their own practice and to do what they love because I support everyone no matter what so I hope that this was useful in some way including extreme minimalist
