hey everyone jeremy here um i haven't done a video for quite some time i've been pretty busy with stuff going on obviously things are crazy with the pandemic and whatnot so um just different life stuff going on but um i realize i haven't obviously done a video in a long long time don't know i haven't given an update on where we're at right now with everything you can see behind me that the car is up in the air and and uh on a hoist actually um so we moved and i've got a new shop now so hopefully i'll be uh doing a few more of these videos i've shot a video i just need to edit up a bunch of stuff for cutting the tunnel out on the car but that obviously by the title is not the reason for this video that we're doing here today um i'll do one on a shop tour there in a bit get stuff tidied up a bit again but um this is on a bandsaw that i picked up so let me flip around here so this bandsaw here is a horizontal and vertical um you can see it's in the vertical position right now all i have to do is lay it down and i'll go horizontal no blade at the moment so just picked it up there's a few things that we need to fix up on it um got to get the blade so i got a blade with it but the blade was broken so i'm going to try and weld that back together we'll see what happens on that it was i watched a few videos on it and only one showed mig welding it together and i wasn't really happy with the look of that one so i'm going to try making it i'm gonna see what happens i've got quite a bit of i left this open so i can show you here so i've got quite a bit of play here in this put quite a bit of adjustment here so i can afford to lose a little bit if i have to cut some off so that's not that big of a deal so i'll do some cleaning up on this before i get it rocking and rolling but there's the saw in a nutshell there's a foot that slides out the bottom there to help stabilize it when it's up um it's missing the basically the control when it drops down there's a a piston there for when it drops down um i'll put this down here it's wicked heavy until you get it to where it's counter balanced um so there's a unit sitting down um so yeah i just i'll clean it up a little bit more and get it looking a little bit pretty before i start using it but i wanted to see if i can get this blade together so let's see what happens uh worst case scenario i got to cut out what i did and i'll braise it together stay tuned so you can see my blade here i sanded it in my little disc sander and just to get both edges nice and clean and flat so what i'm going to do is i'm going to i think i'm going to try and heat this a little bit and then i'm going to use the mig hopefully to to weld this and we're going to see what happens in worst-case scenario if i have to cut this out then so be it but let's see what happens so because this is so thin i've got my machine basically turned all the way down i'm actually going to hook my electrode right onto my blade here so i'm getting good contact with it [Music] i'll clean up my here excuse my squeaky welding helmet i'll cut that off like i said i'm going to try and heat this up first and see if that helps i'm not going to get it screaming hot just a little warm [Applause] let's see what happens here i thought that might happen [Music] i need a brush standby okay so looks not too bad obviously i've got some grinding to do here but got that little tiny hole in the back i don't know if you guys can see it if i didn't blow a hole in the back a little bit carried away there and my teeth at the front there's a little opening in there but i don't know if i need to fill that in or not but i'm going to try [Music] [Music] what okay let's take this apart and see what the other side looks like here so usually they recommend brazing this like i said i can afford to lose a bit oh yeah we've got good penetration through like that one little hole there see if i can show you guys let's see if we can get focused [Music] there you go so you can see we did get all the way through the um obviously i've got some stuff to let's see focus there we go so pretty good so i may be able to clean that up decently enough grind that down um and we'll see i'm going to use my disc sander for that so we'll see what happens in the background here okay so there i managed to get it sanded up no i'm not going to be too fussy about trying to get that stuff in the center there because it's fairly smooth and that shouldn't really matter for the bearings a little bit more weld in there probably stop it from cracking again hopefully the back side i can get this into focus here you guys can see the back side so the back side came out pretty good too you see it no maybe not so i'm going to get this on the saw and show you how it goes [Music] [Music] [Music] to cut okay my only dilemma is for some reason um i am see when it comes down i'm actually into my rest here um so whatever has gone out of adjustment over the years with this unit maybe this is why the previous owner or owners gave up on it um it's it's quite a ways out of adjustment here as you can see it's way over from its allotted grooves if you will and i've maxed out sort of my adjustment on that but anyways there we go um so thanks for joining me um i haven't done a video for a while but here's my new shop um got this place a few months ago now actually quite a ways but see it's a bit of a mess right now we're sort of doing some projects in the house and projects out here so woodworking tools are out and um got working on the mercury again under the cover there is my wife's uh 65 fairlane so i'll do some videos on that as we go along tidy this place up a little bit and uh show you what else is going on out here but thanks for joining bye for now
