I don't need to tell you what this thing is you know what a 3DS is why would you have click this video otherwise so I bought a new Nintendo 2DS about a month ago and I modded it I mean obviously however I feel like I haven't gotten the most I could have out of modding my 3DS I mean you watch all these videos and they're like mod your [Music] 3DS meanwhile I'm sitting here playing CT gp7 and that's about it so I figured enough is enough I need to mod my console to Perfection and what better way to do that than in 24 hours before my flight to [Music] Mexico I figured I might get bored on my flight why not bring my 3DS then I thought a step further and I was like What if I made my 3DS the ultimate portable console and now we're here with quite the time constraint okay so let's set some ground rules what modded content do I currently have on my 3DS well apart from literally two ROM hacks those being CC gp7 and Animal Crossing welcome luxury highly recommend both by the way and a couple games that are booted straight from my SD card there's not much else that I have let's change that I want to start by adding Twilight menu for sure to my 3DS I'd love to play some DS games straight from my SD card no emulator required while on the topic of emulators though I don't really care for older retro games too much although I think it would be pretty cool to have some emulators on my console for NES SNES maybe N64 I'm not sure if the 3DS can do that oh and GBA of course I want to set more of a challenge for myself I think I want a mod game myself whether it's like texture music edits I want to figure out how to do that I mean I know how to do it on the Wii it can't be that different right and lastly I want to install some more games I just want to get some of the gems that I don't already own physically on my console I know for sure I want to get Mario Golf World Tour because apparently it's like really good and I've never played it all right it's time to actually mod my flight is at like 2:00 tomorrow or something so we're already at let's check uh 19 hours left okay Jesus Christ I talk about modding a lot but realistically I had no clue how to get Twilight menu I knew what it was I just didn't know how to get it so after some quick YouTube tutorials and Google searches I figured it out and popped in a couple games and bang thing one out of four done I dumbed it down a lot because installing Twilight menu just took getting the CIA from Universal downloader getting the ROMs online legally of course and putting them in the right folder stupidly easy and quick I don't know why I didn't do this sooner anyway the games I decided to go ahead and install were Rhythm Heaven never played it but I've heard it's really good Animal Crossing wild World because like why not I'm literally the number one Animal Crossing fan in the world that being said I've never played wild world I also got Super Mario 64 DS because Mario Mario Hoops 3on three because super underated a Mario sports game that I got to make a video on at some point in the future and lastly new Super Mario Bros because Mario all right that's all Twilight menu has to offer how much time are we at 18 hours okay that's that's not bad I think what I'm dreading the most is the whole quote unquote creating my own mod portion of this journey but I'll cross that bridge when I get to screw making my own mod I'm going to get some emulators up and running on my 3DS how do I do that I have no idea but with a little bit of magic and one Google search later I figured it out it's as easy as downloading a retro arch. C file and installing it to your 3DS I actually had no idea what retroarch was before this video and looking into it it's actually a really cool service they offer tons of emulators for use on a wide range of game consoles as for the games I downloaded to emulate I honestly just picked some classic Mario games you can never go wrong with those as well as Tetris Tetris and Tetris now for the true test welcome to this new miniseries on my channel called L emulate well basically I'm just going to test the game from a specific console generation on the emulator to see if it runs properly starting off with the NES I mean obviously what did you think I was going to say oh the NES is too graphically intensive for the 30s no look at it it's the NES of course it runs 10 out of 10 on the will it emulate score moving on to the GBA now where we have some riveting Tetris gameplay honestly I don't have anything to say the emulation is obviously good apart from whatever was going on here in the start screen 9 out of 10 on the will it emulate score and now for the N64 and after hours of research more like 5 minutes to be honest I realized it's simply not possible to emulate the N64 on the 30s or just not in a good way like with good performance and all that 0o out of 10 on the will it emulate score and finally the SNES which didn't work for some reason I honestly just think I forgot to put the ROMs in the right folder regardless at the time I couldn't be asked to fix it so laziness out of 10 on the Willet emulate score and with that we have another task complete let's just check the time real quick we now have 17 hours left however with editing magic it probably feels like 1 minute honestly the majority of the time is being spent setting up for recording footage I feel like realistically I could have done both of these tasks in like half an hour total at this point I was honestly getting tired of sitting at my desk and I really wanted to head to bed however not before taking on one of the hardest modding tasks I've ever had creating my own mod my plan I was going to create my own custom Mario Kart 7 texture for the Bruiser cart which is the main cart I sort of use not even that the cart honestly just looks sick and ever since I was a kid playing Mario Kart 7 I always envisioned an all black version of the Bruiser cart and how cool it would look today I'm going to make those dreams come true at least after a ton of research because I had no clue what I was doing as per usual yeah I remember in the intro when I said I mean I know how to do it on the Wii it can't be that different right well guess what me from 3 hours ago you're wrong it is actually very different while yes you can extract the game files and search for the texture you're looking for to edit it's not as simple as editing it in SS modifier saving it and putting it in your ctgp my Stu folder no no no for stuff like this you basically have to patch your own textures to the game not to mention that like the Wii the 3DS also uses SS files for its textures so I figured oh I can just use the same texture editing tool from the Wii on here which I was wrong about I had to use and completely learn a new program not to mention that Mario Kart 7 handles its textures much differently from Mario Kart Wii which is a game that I am very familiar with adding custom textures and music to and after tons of failed attempts Google searches asking in the ctgp 7 Discord for help it was finally done two hours of my work for one stupid texture to work and a couple more you see I was not going to let this opportunity go to waste so I grabbed some cool texture edits and music edits from game banana and slap them into my pack and voila my very own personalized version of Mario Kart 7 complete with cat toad Dry Bones my own custom Bruiser cart this cool B Dasher texture I found and this dark Cloud9 cart texture I found and I also found a mod that changes the Mario Kart 7 Wi-Fi connect music with the wii1 because the wii1 is an absolute slapper and finally with all of that out of the way and 15 hours before my flight in the bank I think I finally deserve to sleep I know I know I have the more games task left however I figured I'd just leave that for tomorrow in the morning as for getting more actual games on my console that takes a lot of waiting I might as well just let a couple games install overnight and with that I'd call it a challenge come complete we did everything we got Twilight menu we got the emulators we got my own custommade mod and more games as for the games I downloaded I got a home R Port of Super Mario 64 Mario Golf Island Tour and Mario and Sonic at the 2012 Olympic Games I can confidently say that my 3DS is the ultimate portable console but there's only one true way to find out and I was right I played my 3DS during the whole flight and it was genuinely very fun and enjoyable I think this is the first time in about 10 years I brought my 3DS on vacation with me I always thought it would never happen again but with all the content I had loaded on my 3DS it was kind of impossible to put down whenever I'd get bored of one game I'd just look forward to the next adventure it's kind of crazy sort of like this channel recently I want to take this time to appreciate everyone who subscribed recently I went from like 300 subscribers to 1,000 300 in a couple days which is absolutely insane I would have never expected this growth from my channel my last video did so well and it makes me really happy knowing that I can share stuff that I'm passionate about online and people will listen and enjoy what I have to say so thank you and like all my other videos I genuinely hope that you enjoyed this one hopefully you learned a thing or two about 3DS modding and if that's the case I would have done my job he
