even gamers who've owned a Nintendo switch since its release in 2017 don't know everything there is to know about the console in fact we'd bet there are at least a few hidden settings these og switch gamers may not know about which is where we come in here at the gamer we'd say we're quite knowledgeable when it comes to the Nintendo switch now some of you may know all of these settings we'll talk about like the back ear hand but we'll still include some well known settings for the surge of new switch gamers who want to know what their console is capable of you're welcome newbies early on you may have realized that some games just don't allow you to create multiple save files for whatever reason we're looking at you breath of the wild anyway it's a bit of an annoying problem but one that has a very simple workaround you see the ones save file limit for most games is per account which means that all you have to do is create another account to make another save file sounds simple enough right all you got to do is play a nun play a game with a new account and it'll create a brand new save file that won't override the save file from your other account if only all problems were this easy to solve the thing is there are other games that don't have any workaround whatsoever for example Animal Crossing new horizons only allows you to save one Island per console not a count which means you'll have to buy a whole new switch to create a new Island still creating a new account works for most games and is worth giving a shot if you're looking to make a new save file and not lose all your hard work in the process speaking of save files if you also own a ps4 or Xbox one you might be wondering how the heck do i backup my switch save files well there's only one way to backup your saves on the switch and that is through the cloud which you could only access if you pay for Nintendo switch online service which we highly recommend if you have switch online then it's really easy to set up all you have to do is scroll over to the game you want to backup and press + then scroll down to save data cloud backup select the account that has the save data and make sure automatically backup save data is turned on and voila your saves for that game are backed up now if you send your switch to Nintendo for maintenance due to a hardware problem Vilma likely completely wipe your switches data in the process so you'll lose everything if it hasn't been saved to the cloud just make sure your data is backed up before you do so after the excitement of getting your console back the last thing you need is the disappointment of losing everything if you think about it it's actually insanely easy to get into someone's switch all you need to do is grab it press the same button three times and you're in it's not the most secure console by any means which is why you might want to give the console a passcode so only those who know it can get in and to play on the switch or maybe you're a parent and don't want your child to be able to play the switch without you knowing whatever the case may be you could actually put a passcode in your switch for ultimate security it's pretty simple to set this passcode up for starters you have to download these switch parental controls app on your phone then you have to come up with a four digit PIN and you could force it to be put in before playing a game accessing the home menu getting into the system settings getting into the eShop and more that being said others will still be able to view your four most recently played games and you won't be able to set play limits using this method so it might not actually be the best choice for parents but Nintendo switch is much more versatile than you think sure being able to play games docked on your TV and in handheld mode is great but the hybrid console is capable of so much more did you know that some plug and play USB headsets work perfectly when the switch is docked yep well wired USB headsets aren't nearly as popular as they once were if you own a good USB headset you could use it with the Nintendo switch as long as it has a long wire or you play pretty close to the dock it's a pretty neat feature but don't worry it also works well with some wireless USB headsets even the Joye cons are chock-full of versatility did you know that they could be paired with other Bluetooth devices like your PC or Android smartphone they're definitely worth the premium price on top of all this you could even plug a USB keyboard into the switch in handheld mode this will allow you to message other players with ease you can also use the joy cons or a pro controller wirelessly with the switch light pack the console could even charge your phone at this point there's nothing the switch can't do well it doesn't happen very often there are times when the switch freezes up and no matter what you do you just can't get back to the homescreen and close the software luckily there's a simple solution to this the hard reset all you got to do is hold the power button for 15 seconds to turn the console off yeah that's literally all you have to do it's not even remotely complicated but if you want to perform a factory reset you're going to need to go into recovery mode to do this you're going to have to hold the power button and the volume buttons at the same time once the Nintendo logo pops up this will allow you to do a few things on your switch you can update the console delete all data on the console excluding save data screenshots videos and user information or do a complete factory reset deleting everything on the console which we only recommend if you're looking to sell your switch so if you ever wondered how to do a hard reset or factory reset on the Nintendo switch we hope we just answered that question for you while there's no region lock on the Nintendo switch system switch accounts are definitely region-locked you can't access the Japanese yup from a North American switch account and vice versa luckily it's very easy to make a Nintendo switch account so it's a simple workaround all you got to do is create a Nintendo account and set the region to an out of market one like the UK or Japan and Link it up to a profile on your Nintendo switch the only catch is that each Nintendo account needs to be associated with a different email which could get tedious then it's as simple as making the purchase keep in mind that all accounts on a single switch share purchases which means you can play a Japanese game on your main account even if you buy it with an account you never use there are some solid indie titles that are available in regions like Europe and Japan yet are not available in North America so it'll give you access to more games than you ever could have dreamed of we already talked about how versatile the Joye cons are but we didn't talk about how to calibrate them with the console now typically unless you notice something is up with one of your controllers and acting a little bit funky you're not gonna need to recalibrate your controllers still if you notice a little stick shift which was a common issue with the Joye cons when they first came out or something like that you might be able to fix the issue by recalibrating the controller if you go into the system settings and select the controller and sensors menu the switch gives you the option to recalibrate your joy Khans in two ways pending on whether you're having motion control issues or thumbstick issues it's super simple and easy to follow but it's much easier to calibrate the thumbsticks than the motion controls those can be a bit tedious but hey we're not complaining since it's a great feature to have you could even use the switch to find lost joy cons and other controllers let's be honest we all lose controllers from time to time especially when they're small like joy cons but Nintendo had the foresight to assume this would happen and we really appreciate it sometimes you get up to grab a drink and when you come back you can't find one of your joy Khan's anywhere luckily you could quickly locate your controller by hopping into the main menu going to the controller options and then find controllers from there you just pick which controller you're looking for and it'll vibrate as long as you're pressing down on it until you hopefully find it we feel like you definitely find it because it'll start buzzing wildly now the only kicker is that the controller has to be on for this to work if the controller is off the switch can't magically turn it on and make it start vibrating as cool as that would be in that case you'll have to find it yourself but still it's definitely a useful feature to have if you were ever to lazy to grab the remote and turn your TV on before pressing home on your pro controller and turning the switch on well we've got a solution for you it turns out that you can turn on your TV with the switch by setting it to match your TV power state that way the second your switch is out of rest mode and turned on it'll turn on your TV as well and if you turn your TV off while the console is on it'll put the switch into rest mode so it works both ways like most settings in this video it's also quite easy to set up all you got to do is go into your system settings then TV settings and make sure match TV power state is set to on now this feature doesn't work with all TVs but if you've got a brand-name TV then there's a good chance that your switch will be able to match its power state it's not a game-changing feature by any means but it means that we do have to press less buttons to set things up so we're all for it while most of you know airplane mode is the mode just set your phone to when you're on and our plane obviously it's also a feature on the Nintendo switch although it works a little bit differently on the console of course airplane mode turns off all wireless communication including Wi-Fi and Bluetooth which means you can't use the joy Kahn's with the switch unless they're connected to the console if they're detached they will not work at all and you'll have to reconnect them or turn airplane mode off again to use them this can actually be useful when playing on-the-go with extra controllers in your bag since they can't accidentally connect to the switch and pause the game or something of that nature plus airplane mode also helps you save battery life so it's a win-win situation when you think about it so you could use airplane mode to your advantage depending on the situation you're in if you're playing in handheld mode and don't have any intention of going online you might as well just keep the switch and airplane mode and save that battery and that is everything you need to know about the Nintendo switches hidden settings there's certainly are a whole bunch of them what's your favorite hidden switch setting are there any that we
