How I Give Myself A Manicure At Home

hey guys welcome back to my Channel today I'm going to be filming a highly requested video I get asked all the time how I do my nails and I'm about to give myself a manicure right now so I figured that I would bust out the camera and film it now it's kind of tricky to film yourself giving a manicure so I think I've got a decent enough shut up hopefully you'll be able to understand everything I'm doing and get a pretty clear view you want to know how I keep my nails keep watching okay so first things first this manicure is pretty shot I need to remove all of this polish so to remove usually like to use 100% acetone I just soak a cotton swab if it's a darker color just hold the cotton swab in place for just a few seconds and then wriggle it out and you'll get a clean removal without eyelash all over your finger some people want to go like this don't do that alright that'll make a big mess on your hands but if you just hold it in place for a couple seconds it should remove [Music] a lot of people don't like 100% acetone but I find that it's really just the best and as long as you hydrate your nails afterwards I don't really notice any major damage from using it oh my god my dog is sitting right on I love you we'll have FOMO my dog has fallen off she has to be like literally wherever you are at all times and she has to be touching you so it's cute and annoying at the same time right now it's kind of annoying I love when I can remove all my polish with one cotton ball that's like a I feel like that's a accomplishment the acetone gives you that ability so what I like to do once all my polish is removed I like to take a clean cotton ball soaked it in acetone and then just go over all my nails in case there were any areas that I may have missed or now when you polish in any corners or littlenecks sometimes it gets on your fingers so take this opportunity to to really clean up if you have it really in your nail bed you can use a q-tip soaked in acetone that works too but mine weren't too bad I think the clean cotton ball do it alright what I like to do now before I get to filing shaping and painting my nails one really nice little treatment if you will is soaking so I like to take a bowl of really hot water with some soap in it you can use some salts and just soak my nails for I don't know ten minutes or so it really helps just to relax the nail get it ready to be painted this is also going to help to rehydrate the nail that you've just seriously dehydrated with that acetone it's also going to clean them up a little bit all right so you're going to take your nails out you're going to be a little soapy okay that's what towels are for you want to dry them really really well now that my nails are all clean and have been soaked I'm going to take a file and begin to shape them now they're pretty much shaped the way that I like but this is just in case any you know may have grown in a little funny or need to be touched up just a bit I use this Lowrey file I don't know what it's called but I love this file I got it from Sally's I had it for so long the grit never wears off but I love how it comes to a point it makes it really easy I like mine in a round shape so I'm just going to kind of touch up you really don't need too much maintenance this one did break this week so it's a little bit shorter than the others to be honest it's kind of hard to file your own nails especially if you're trying to get a shape so overall this file is a pretty fine grit but one side is a little bit more abrasive than the other and I'll tell you this it's really hard to do your nails in pretty much chance okay so they're pretty much filed to my liking right now now I'm going to take a buffing Q but this one's a bit of a finer grit if you need serious buffing I would recommend one like this if your nails are very rigid or maybe you're coming off of gel or acrylics you might want to use something a little more heavy but I just need to lightly dust off anything that's not even now they're going to be a little gritty so I'm just going to dump some in my water real quick to get off any of that dust so it doesn't end up in our polish and then we're going to prepare to push so now that our nails are all clean and shaved and filed and left we are going to polish so I recently received the Morgan Taylor selfie summer nail polish collection and I love this polish pretty as a pink chair I thought I would use this for the weekend and they also sent me their no light extended wear base coat and there no light extended wear top coat so I'm going to be using both of these products today they are not my normal top and base coat polishes but I really wanted to test them out and see how they worked so let's get started with the base the key to painting your nails is to be very thin layers one of my tips for keeping your nails strong is to paint underneath the nail with the base coat then we move on to the others now to the other side never people are like you paint your nail your nails are so perfect like no it really takes a lot of practice and patience I'm a righty so painting my right hand is very difficult for me practice makes perfect manicure time is like therapeutic for me I really enjoy painting my nails some people hate it if I have the time I enjoy it as I'm rushing it definitely stresses me out base coat is on I painted beneath all my nails as well feels pretty dry in the first hand so we're going to go ahead and start with the first coat of polish so I roll it between my palms just a little you're not supposed to shake it off you don't want all the bubbles to how beautiful this color is though that is gorgeous it's such a bright neon pink really fun for summer alright so to start you're going to take a little on your brush keep it on one side of the brush and do everything in your power not to touch the cuticle and then cap the edge don't paint underneath just cap the edge ah this color is so pretty it's honestly even prettier in person if it's possible it really enjoys Morgan Taylor brushes they're very wide it makes it very easy to cover oh my god I'm so in love okay anything else films manicure videos let me know how you do it because this is hard so I'm kind of annoyed but glad that this happened if you can see the Polish flooded part of the nail bed on the side so if that happens I use my thumb just to clean it up real quick when we put the second coat on it'll disguise it really well so I usually save both of my thumb's till the very end so now I'm going to do these four fingers first and then go back with the thumb your thumbs are so crucial for cleanup it's like better than any tool it's important to get the right amount of polish on the brush the first go so you don't want too much and you don't want too little yes yeah they look so good all right now we're going to go back and do this thumb and then put the second coat on the rest of this hand [Music] and I got just a little in the bed some of the cleanest that's why I do the right one first I can code time alright guys so my nails are pretty much dry I like to wait until they feel very dry before putting a top coat on because if you have too much wet polish you're more prone to smudging this is the Morgan Taylor noelite extended wear topcoat and I'm just going to try to open it and put a stain coat mama nail so here we go this is interesting this brush is a little different than the polish brush [Music] [Music] alright guys so that is it my nails are done you want to make sure that they drive very very well before you go do anything we don't want to smudge them you don't want to get any Nick's or chips once they dry just a little bit more I'm going to apply a cuticle oil and then we'll be good to go this is the Morgan Taylor selfie summer polish in the shade pretty as a picture and it is honestly as pretty as a picture I love this color so without smudging my nails it's
