[Music] hey there long time no see over the last week i've been wondering what sort of video would be the best choice to close this channel out with no points for insight because it took me far longer than it should have to realize the video i already had in production was pretty much the perfect choice already doing our lmp1 vs hypercar followed by f2004 vs modern formula 1 comparison video some weeks back really got me wondering those kinds of races were mega fun to put together and i always felt like i learned a little something like that the actual pace of formula one hasn't really improved all that much in 17 years if at all more than anything though it got me wondering just how much faster is a modern formula one car than just about any other class of car you could think to throw up against it somewhat conveniently that's what we're here to find out today i've taken the amazing rss formula hybrid and put it up against 15 cars ranging a whole spectrum of performance this is all taking place on a track which doesn't usually play host to f1s road america the reason for this well lilsky's version of this track is absolutely stellar and frankly i just felt like driving road america in a stupidly fast car our test today concludes when we find out how many laps are needed in a modern f1 car to lap each of our contenders at least once which contenders you ask well we have one classic old-timey boy an old-timey drifty boy a timeless italian speedy boy a german 80s ufo boy a classic 90s rally boy a close enough to earman's road car boy a chunky gajira boy a nordschleife boy an older close enough to earman's road car boy an english big wallet boy a small good timey boy an italian are we sick of this class yet boy a german shouty gte boy a colorful gt4 boy and finally an lmp1 replacement boy how many laps to pass each of these cars at least once let's find out 16 cars one formula one how many laps is it going to take to lap everything at least once let's find out we're waiting waiting for the green and go get a good start with a little bit of wheelspin lighting up the wristband a little bit of snap on the exit we can see the whole grid of cars behind us slotting immediately in front of the hypercar we're well in front already so we're already making some pretty good headway towards lapping all of these cars even the mighty hyper car the replacement to the lmp1 still can't keep up with the modern f1 not even close it seems [Music] as we look behind just ants to us right now who barely had two turns and here we go well out of sight now [Music] so the mighty formula one hybrid we can just barely see the hypercard peeking out from behind that's barely making it to that last turn so it should be a very very interesting race i'm very curious what's going to be the first car that we laughed and whatever how soon are we going to laugh at is it going to happen in one lap one and a half two just how slow are the slowest road cars that we've picked i'm i'm betting on the old timey boy i don't think that one's gonna survive too long with its what 45 wide brake horsepower something tells me against a formula one car with a ton of downforce and horsepower in the several hundred range it just may not survive all too well not to mention the hybrid motor in the uh drs as well we're of course precluded from using directives we're actually hampered we're actually slowed down by road america it will not let us deploy drs on any of these straights so we are actually losing a few seconds per lap bear that in mind as we hopefully start to approach the first of our takers eventually that's one lap already and no shortage of things to say in this amazing car such an amazing experience driving here road america a classic road style american core something that's not really built for a car like this in any meaningful way some very strange curbing on it as well but if it works it works [Music] as we buzz past i've got to say i do feel something missing i do still miss that v10 error of screaming engines i mean whether or not they're faster they sound like they're faster and really half the time that's what matters more than anything when you're watching a televised broadcast as we push on down alright we're one and a half laps in already we're halfway through lap two as you can tell up in the top left there so far nobody in sight so they've gotten a pretty good run out there it seems i believe it's cure i'm curious are they yes yes we have a take-up in the front and yes it's the old time before we blitz past goodbye old timey boy he made it halfway through his lap before he got lapped by the formula one car lap and a half in the time for him to do a half lap which means that we're probably going to be lapping that car at least once per lap from here on out so are we going to get anyone else on this lap i'm very curious if you downshift rapidly i'm being conservative rapid yet yet conservative not driving it too close to the edge don't want any snaps mid corner not very good cars for snaps these given they have abs and no tc you definitely don't want to lose control and i think i saw something on the final straight there yes we have another taker is it yes it is it's an old-timey nippon drifty boy bye bye hachi roku it's been fun almost almost got him within the one lap i think he may have just crossed the start line as we got him so we're on lap three now [Applause] [Music] it's heading on down who's the next taker i'm very curious what i see a blue speck i see a blue speck in the distance and my ego is shattered i believe it's the uh old-timey earman's road car boy i mean look it sounds faster than it is it's like a massive snap on the exit take that intimidated by that beautiful flat four boxer engine as we run towards halfway through lap four here as we're approaching yes a 90's rally boy goodbye seleka classic car part of my childhood and uh of course it is of course it's the second herman's road car boy sort of mine's a little lighter than that ah that's depressing isn't it okay we're getting to the real trains now we've got a ktm crossbow we've got the gt4 all held up by gajira and completely taken in size through the inside by by r35 and we have something else we have a classic yes we have a timeless italian boy an f40 and as we approach on the finish straight a gt3 rs aka a nordschleife boy might be at home there but maybe not so much here at road america so that's a pretty healthy list of takers there i think we've at the very least slapped every car well at least half the cars on the grid once if not more and now i'm getting rapid i feel like this is where they're going to be bunched up the majority of the cars and oh my god it's the second laughing yes it is it's the second lapping here of the old timey boy you can barely even see him that is dangerous gives you a feeling of what it might have been like for the gt3s lapping the darchia at the last nurburgring n24 race [Music] very terrifying [Music] wrapping around from the outside and yes we've got a car in the distance what is it yeah it's the class that shall not be named the most famous much to our dismay class in all of simracing may it end one day may it end may we go back to driving things that are actually fun sometime like the thing in front of me right there the 991 rsr aka the german shouty gte boy my favorite gt class now deprecated sadly to be replaced with yet more gt3s hooray as we about to cross by the finish line one more time and there we go all right we're now on lap five pushing through and yes we're about to laugh to dripsy boy one more time we have what looks to be a german ufo boy yes we go around the outside and no we get pushed out wide off the curb off the run off onto the dirt we managed to hold it with no tc you naughty boy you absolutely naughty boy as we approach a uk big wallet boy he can really keep up with us in the straights here it's quite impressive but not so much in the braking zone uh quite predictably outdone by an f1 as we push on out but very very impressive performance on the straights there quite an engine in that mclaren p1 as we push on out and see what's next i mean we've crossed through we've passed a group c car we've now passed to hypercar i mean we're really at the big takers now those cars were actually driving even more quickly than the gt3s and the gte unbelievably you go around that big big right hander it's almost all flat out in the f1 car almost just a little bit of a lift this entirely flat out of course and more of a straightforward course this and then the road cars i'd imagine it'd be similar in the indie cars hard brake zone here as we push through reasonably good run and we're approaching oh no herman's road car for the third time and the old-timey boy for god knows how many times now we push on out some decently wide lines and don't pay attention to that definitely didn't get a wheel out on the grass there as we finish our fifth lap and move on to lap six lap six are we gonna do it in lap six i believe my memory tells me we have one more car to overcome here we've overcome just about all the sensible ones we may have one hyper downforce mobile waiting for us [Music] but alas i can't see anything nope not a thing but we've got one zot on the horizon i'm curious what it is probably the the 90s rally boy i'm guessing yep that rumbly sound so the 90s rally boy it sits held up reasonably well given this is a tarmac circuit [Music] best looking seleka there is very rumbly too as we go past earman's road car boy for the second time i'd like to think that the lighter m2 would have done slightly better than the m4 but you know we'll never know we get back to the train the train that still exists held up by the computer as we go wide and don't let's hit the gt4 and coming back onto the track what an absolutely crazy run we just ran out of space on the outside they almost collected the gt4 i can see why the r35 is causing a bit of trouble for us here as we rapidly run towards concluding lap number six [Music] as we push on can't see any cars coming towards the end ah there might be something there might be something yes it's the old uh classic italian boy the timeless f40 the supercar supercars as we brush right past it like it's nothing in our modern day f1 up onto lap seven beginning lap seven now as i believe i think i just glimpsed something out the front there okay we've got the nordschleife boy one more time man i can see why people like those cars it's held up really well yes that is an elongated car out the front that looks like a prototype to me hi is it is it yes it is this is the hyper car are we gonna pass it we're on lap number six right now maybe six and a half laps how long's it gonna take how long is it gonna take to close the distance i'm gonna get it before the next turn it just doesn't have the corner exit on it does it if we go on the inside no he hasn't blocked me off oh and he gets pushed out wide and yes we make it stick he wasn't able to hold it and there we go all my snaps on the exit there behind the car behind me don't get too excited mate i think you've lost this race you go past the old timey boy for one last time here going towards concluding lap number seven now and that's it that's it six and a half laps to overtake one of just about anything that races these days the uh the hyper car the fastest prototype the races and world endurance championship currently i'm sure we could have compared it against some old-time ef ones but god knows how long we would have been here for assuming especially how much weight the current a1s have actually gained the fact that the f-2004 wasn't really that much slower and don't look at that i definitely didn't go wide there as we go on the final straight for one last time to conclude six and a half laps to pass one of everything there you have it ladies and gents there's our answer well that was killer fun i can't imagine a better way to sign out on this channel than taking the pinnacle of motorsport and putting it up alongside all the classes of car we know and love i want to thank all of you for being part of this crazy journey with me i never in a million years thought we could build a channel from nothing to over 40 000 subscribers in such a niche scene across a year and a half as mentioned in my community post a week ago i'll now be putting this channel on indefinite hiatus not to worry because the channel itself is not going anywhere you'll still be able to find all the old videos you know and hopefully love there are just no plans to add any more sim racing content to it for the foreseeable future this doesn't necessarily mean it's goodbye forever just that i need a prolonged break to get back to other somewhat important and vastly overlooked parts of my life it feels strange to ask you to subscribe to a channel going on hiatus but it legitimately is the best way to get notified in case i ever managed to return to it and we take off where we left from again your support over the last year and a half has been amazing and i'm glad we've been able to share both our love and critique for simracing through it until next time whenever that may be i hope you have a good one keep focusing on the positives of simracing and i'll see you all later you
