[Music] today we're at yastrab or odrome in poland why because at the start of 2021 the driftmasters team bought you the first ever drift masters virtual championship 96 drivers were whittled down to one one champion and today that champion gets to drive this car [Music] so peter firstly are you crazy you're about to let somebody jump in to your 2021 championship winning car yeah actually well now i'm thinking about it it wasn't the smartest idea probably but still i will definitely enjoy it look at the car from the outside because i simply love how this car looks and especially in the hands of someone who is so talented because on one hand i'm a bit nervous but on the other hand i know that those drivers who learn from the simulator they are very talented so i can't wait to see that yeah i'm excited to see that too let's talk about the car a little bit this car done you incredibly well this year you won the 2021 drift masters european championship in it tell us a little bit about the car yeah it has around 900 horsepower and it's definitely over 1200 kilometers so it's definitely a good blast if you know what you are doing and i'm pretty sure that after a few runs i'm sure he's gonna have smile on my face i've got a smile on my face just watching [Music] that is you driving this car in the driftmasters 2021 championship and winning it congratulations on that but i'm going to yeah fun time today yeah i mean look to me and don't take offense i didn't really know who you were up until that point because obviously the virtual world is a completely different world to the real world but you made a real big name for yourself and by the end of that competition everybody knew who reese tatterson was we talk a lot about this transition from virtual to real world how do you think that's gonna fare today i'm gonna see how it goes i'm gonna have fun enjoy it um let's see what happens just go for it go for it exactly that well look reese it's enough time for talking it's so far yeah yeah it's rubbish i know we didn't even start the car but first time being the car s this this bad like crazy i'm speechless it also means a lot to me so seriously even though we didn't was a very good man if you could tell how nervous i am during the first class kick but then on the second transition i can see that he's controlling the car with the clutch and really good steering wheel applications i was like okay he's natural you know he was doing like like cruising for like three or four years really or even more so uh a little bit more confident yeah that last one felt a lot more i'm getting better with the throttle yeah getting back to the important steering yeah amazing how good is this car come on brilliant that's great the grip is crazy as well well look we're gonna cut some fresh tires off here we're gonna let go back out [Music] so i think that i was only a balance for you to be honest no i'm just feeling that i was just a balance for you okay so now i'll let you drive by yourself so you can be fully in control of the car how do you feel about that yeah yeah totally that's fine with me i'm cool with that thank you very much as you did already yeah so she likes it she enjoys the company thank you very much [Music] so after a quick crash course in drifting from peter vinsec in his own car reaches out on track now against the same time of his own um going to take that smile of your face for a few days at least that's for sure why not well look congratulations on winning the 2021 dmvc um congratulations to being able to jump in peter's championship winning s15 and do such a sterling job i know peter is eager to come in and have a chat you've done an incredible job today thank you very much it was a blast it was a blast you know i tried to uh you know catch you a bit it's just you can see me in the other side but it was great fun for me it was great fun to to see the s15 from this side you know from the outside enjoyed it thank anything i revise could be better um you see that slower i was driving with bigger anger problems the good idea is to just increase the angle and then stay on the left foot you know and then i applied the left foot still i think you could you've managed to experience how it is to be you know in the back to find yourself in a small kind of transitions and stuff like that this is like my dream card Sims are getting crazy these days and there's been plenty that did nearly all their training in one that transitioned to real racing.

Honestly crazy to see how far sims have come, and how the skill actually transfers over to real life driving.

I can see the Pro driver thinking "I gotta get a sim."

i'm not all that surprised as drifting is relatively low G. What would be really hard is actual racing in cars that exert alot of force on your neck(Endurance, F1, sportscar, etc) but you could train for it I suppose.

I remember doing real kart racing and thinking how hard it was on my body. After a couple sessions I really didn't have another one in me. Its incredible the amount of physical effort goes into motorsports.

Does anyone know the best way to get Into Sim racing? Is it better to go all in or is a cheaper setup still viable?

That's pretty phenomenal.

I have no experience in a sim or true performance driving, but driving at the edge for me the few times I've done it was mostly on 'feeling'. This guy has none of that experience or sensory input when sim driving, but he's obviously gotten so good at driving/drifting to the point of being able to do it in a real, incredibly high powered and modified car he's never been in before with virtually no instruction needed.

For anyone wondering the "sim" is a game called Assetto Corsa from 2014, there is a newer game called Assetto Corsa Competizione, I wonder if they will transition the virtual championship to the new one.
