FYI the flagship of Royal Navy on D-Day was light cruiser HMS Belfast, not the battleships that were present at the bombardment that day.
Video has it wrong. The reason Hood sunk was not because of a lucky shot. Bismarck used special German-built shells that could pierce shopkeeper and banker armour like a knife through butter, Hood folded like a cheap Sherman.
When you look at those videos plus you can see that Hood was almost sinking just in normal seas because of the waves washing over its deck. Sad! British ships barely floated in the first place so no wonder they sank so easily. I wish they would have kept fighting instead of scuttling, they would have won easily. Allies cheated with that first salvo by Rodney.
