[Music] oh all right hi everyone uh back with Megan Amy we are going on a nice walk an enrichment walk and I will be firing off some questions to uh Meg uh there's been a lot of questions that have come through so thanks for that haven't really got around to it this is the first walk for me uh with a camera I've done quite a few before but I thought the beginning of the year I'm just going to take it easy uh and enjoy just being with the Lions uh for a change because towards the end of the last year a lot of the people on the channel were saying Kev you're looking rather tired and exhausted and I think I was burning the candle at both ends so I decided the beginning of the year to just take it easy and ease back in and um hopefully I'm looking better uh less tired more gray hair it looks like we're going to go down into this Gorge and it is wonderful that they are coming here because the river is in full flow and there's a nice waterfall there's been so much rain in the past few weeks that uh the Water the ground water is actually so high it's now oozing out of the ground forming these little streams really cool and that over there was not full of water and now it is and it's staying pretty full so it's a lovely little Oasis over here and one of mean Amy's favorite stomping grounds hopefully they'll go to the waterfall cuz that's really cool and I think Mega is looking like she wants to go there it is just so beautiful this is one of my favorite areas on the farm I can just come here to gather my thoughts I'm so glad that they've come here maybe they'll come and drink here at the river okay here we have the rock climbing lines okay so now Megan Amy did eat something yesterday so they are a little bit full today because Magie had uh eaten yesterday Thursday big meal I think you ate half a c uh she's not very energetic on the walk and she's sitting here by the waterfall which is fantastic cuz it's a beautiful place to just sit and relax and I'm going to ask her a question that was uh um well she doesn't want to answer any questions sorry anyway I'll I'll ask myself the question uh which basically is um what is the what is the most powerful sense that a lion has um you know is it its taste is it its smell hearing eyesight what definitely in my opinion um and this is backed up obviously by science as well is that the Lions smell Lions rely quite heavily on their sense of smell um long before anything else so even when they are uh walking through the bush they will catch a scent of something and then look for it not the other way around this is backed up by the fact that not throw a piece of meat for me Amy or any other line for that matter they will look as to where that piece of meat lands so they'll see it Go and boom and then they'll go off in that direction but they would rather sniff out the piece of meat than actually uh look for it now a human would obviously see where it lands and then go and look for it not snip it out um so that's a really interesting phenomenon and I'll try and demonstrate it on camera one of these days um so yeah that's an interesting one um and and keep them coming I'll answer a few more # ask Meg questions uh today on the walk I think it's going to be a good opportunity for that because I think they're going to find a nice tree now and try and settle down there for an hour or so which is fantastic this is what this is about not about us getting enjoyment out of watching them walk it's about them getting enjoyment just being out and about and they seem to love this area here with the waterfall the opp direction from The Crossing okay so another question that's come through on # askm is do lions roar like people have witnessed in the movies um and there's a classic uh uh company film company that basically has made their Mark uh from that lion kind of roaring in the beginning of the films and uh classically uh what what they were doing is they were just superimposing a a roar over a lion yawning um so because a lion doesn't really roar like that when a lion roars it it it it kind of looks like it's blowing it gets a more tighter look on its face rather than her open mouth showing teeth kind of look and um I suppose people would look at that and not really think that a line is that scary so I understand fully why uh people would have wanted to portray a line that way however in recent years I see now that um it's more now a lion growling so if a lion goes like it snaps at something um then it would do something like that but then it's not the classic oo that's the line the classic lion roar so uh a Lon in the movie just going is just a a growl rather than a roar um so it has changed over the years they have become more accurate in their portrayal of of a of a lion but in the early years it completely was just a lion yawning and then they would put on a you know so to give the effect so I hope that answers that question um uh for the hash askm please do keep them coming um really some interesting and uh great questions that I'm sure a lot of the people out there are wanting to know and just haven't mastered up the the courage or the time to to actually write in and ask that question so thank you megie dipping a thorn my girl oh so even you can see lions as tough as their porw pads are sometimes even they have to stop and pull Thorns I think she's got a quite a bad thorn in her back porw I'll see if I can help her um when you see a line with a laceration on its porw pad and you realize then how thick that skin is and how fleshy that pad is um you can understand why they can walk over almost any terrain but the African bush has some really Inc ibly strong powerful Thorns that even a lion can't walk over so every now and again you'll see the Lions walking and then suddenly I've got something in my foot and then they pull it out uh with their teeth so obviously they they're not like humans that can you know use their fingers they have to use their teeth and they use their in sizes to pull out the thorn see Amy looking to go in this nice little cool shady [Music] area it's actually very nice to just be able to sit you um in the bush undisturbed turn the phone off um turn the radio down just uh get lost in nature enjoy the company of two beautiful lionesses um be accepted amongst them as if you were one of their own uh um it's just uh it's just SOL recharging so you know um thank you my darling and she's back thanks for asking all the questions it's been enlightening as always answering the hashtag ask Meg questions uh if I don't know the answers I will try and go and find out um before I come here and answer them but sometimes I just read them off my phone and uh I'll come up with what I think is The Logical answer to that so if I am wrong in some um instances please uh do right to us and Enlighten us thanks for watching and uh yeah keep them coming and we'll see you next time for #
