i am all about finding things that make your life as a homeschooler easier and about a third of the way through the year i switched to a system that definitely improved our homeschool and no it wasn't a curriculum it was a home school card hey everyone it's jess the homeschool converts my family chose to homeschool this year due to the global pandemic thinking we'd send our kids right back to public school and we fell in love with homeschooling and here i am the homeschool convert so i've created this channel to share our homeschool in order to hopefully encourage other people who have also chosen this path or who are interested in maybe choosing homeschooling or just want to learn more so if that interests you please click the subscribe button and introduce yourself down below i would love to get to know you and greet you to this community but as i mentioned today's video is about our homeschool cart and never in a billion years what i would think that would be something as simple as a cart and what holds the stuff that we reach for every day that would simplify our homeschool but it really has it has cleaned up how i access our curriculum and the things that we want to be using alongside our curriculum or integrate into our homeschool day so this cart uh has been a gift and i'm so glad that we have incorporated it so i will link a similar cart down in the description box below but i'm a huge proponent of secondhand shopping so always keep an eye out at your thrift stores on facebook facebook marketplace and places like that and maybe a cart will help your family as well if you enjoy videos like this i would love if you give it a thumbs up it lets me know that you like content like this and it also honestly really helps my channel this is a brand new channel and i'm so excited to share everything homeschooling with you guys so a thumbs up would be such an encouragement to me and really helpful for my channel but if you want to learn more about our homeschool cart system keep watching so in this corner is where my homeschool cart lives and basically what happens is it stays there when it's not in use and when i do need it i just roll it over right here to me and so i can pull out what i need for either of my children so i did a homeschool room tour if you'd like to see that so i will link it in the cards as well as down below if you want to get a better feel for our room but let's go ahead and start talking about this magnificent thing so first of all um i got this idea by somebody on instagram i think it was our homeschool journey she uses several different carts for her homeschool and i just loved the idea previously i had a basket for each kid that i just kind of kept on the floor because i didn't really have a good place for it with their individual curriculums and it was just clunky and i hated it and so i saw this and i was like that is genius and i have reorganized it recently to really fit our needs even more and i'm really happy with where we've landed so on the top shelf here we have our curriculum so i've also done a curriculum video if you would like to watch that as well i will also link that but on this side is my first greatest curriculum and on the side is my pre-k areas curriculum and i say curriculum lightly because we did a very very gentle preschool but um these are just like workbooks again i don't want to get into too much detail of the exact workbooks but um you can watch the curriculum video where i explain it in a little bit more detail so this is their curriculum on the top shelf super easy to grab i even have it um in the order that we use it with the exception of these these are my daughter's gratitude journals which used at the beginning but they just fit there better than they did in the middle so i know exactly where i need to go and it works awesome and then in the middle i have our all about spelling cards so it serves a dual purpose obviously it separates the two curriculums and it's easy to access because typically we'll have books pulled out of here and the cards are a little bit easier to get to but even here i can reach in pretty easily and find what i need so that's the top rack of our homeschool cart super easy to grab our curriculum again i just roll it right over here it cannot get any easier than that and then what i've decided to do on those these bottom two ones is a lot of the manipulatives and resources that i feel like we reach for the most a lot of this stuff i had in bins over here previously and i showed what's in those bins now and i've scaled back because a lot of this stuff especially in the top one and even in the bottom one used to be in bins and i found that i just wasn't reaching for things or i was forgetting about things and so having them here has worked out so much better because they already have this with me as i'm going through the curriculum i can literally see stuff next to me be like oh i can pull this out and this would be helpful for that so this little thing is just in front i think this was originally from target but i got it somewhere else for like a dollar fifty or something like that um so i use that with my pre-care and then in here these are just the flash cards that we made from my seven-year-old language art curriculum that she's going through some alphabet cards phonics cards that i got secondhand sight words cards of various kind and this is one of those things where you can build letters so it tells you how to build the letters we haven't used this a whole lot but i plan to use this a lot more going into kindergarten and then back here i have our all about spelling magnetic letter tiles usually it's more like this in relation to me so i can access things a little bit better then we have some more alphabet flash cards we have this little chalkboard i can use and in here this is just things that my daughters can do as we're doing read-alouds coloring books drawing things and so they can keep their hands occupied typically while we're doing a read-aloud they'll be having a snack and then if they finish their snack i'm still reading they can do something else we also have these little litter poppers that my parents got them so we have two of those in there um really i should probably i'm gonna pull out one now i'm thinking of it because they never use them at the same time so we'll do the other ones elsewhere and then this is a word practice game that i got secondhand for 95 cents and it's by lakeshore learning but you can tell it's vintage and they're just fun things to help uh sound out i'm gonna try to do this one-handed so my daughter can sound out one sound at a time and then check to see if she has a word right so i can have her do this and practice reading skills while i am working with the younger one individually and that just gives her something fun to do she loves that kind of stuff but again i was forgetting that i had this all the time so having it here has been so handy and to then in the back i just have these white white erase dry erase boards that we use all the time for both my girls and these laminated sheets that we use all the time or laminated folders so we can reuse sheets so that is kind of our language arts phonics section of the cart plus our things to do when we're doing our read aloud so again having everything handy and right next to me has worked out so well i'm not good at doing things one-handed oh my gosh there we go i'm like this is so easy watch me struggle it honestly is so much easier when you have two hands and it's rolled up inside of you anyway moving on to the bottom section of the cart this is where we keep more of our math related stuff so somebody gave this to me for free recently at a garage sale i just thought it'd be handy to have a little hundreds grid that was minnie um as my four-year-old turns five and is gonna start pre uh kindergarten soon just to have that on hand and then on the back it does by fives and then we have our wrecking rack so use that a lot for math obviously i like that it's mini size i look at i looked at bigger ones and larger sized abacus abacus abacuses abakai [Laughter] anyway i looked at different forms and i just liked how small this was and ready to use and that it could be stored easily and wasn't going to take space somewhere so anyway i'll link that down below and any resources that y'all are interested in let me know i'll try to link things that i can find down below and then these are just pom poms that we use as counter sometimes this is a melissa and doug clock that i got second hand the only complaint here is that it's kind of clunky and the shapes fall out but the girls have fun putting it back together anyway so my complaint isn't really too much of a complaint then i have these counting cubes which i got secondhand from goodwill for a dollar and 19 cents and these things are typically not cheap and it was literally brand new and sealed so i love secondhand shopping for my homeschool supplies speaking of which this i got for free i'm on a facebook group for my community where people just offer up things for free and um or if somebody's in need of something they can go on there and ask if anybody has it it's really awesome but somebody was offering these up again brand new the box looked kind of worn but when i opened it everything was sealed on the inside so they're just math flash cards with addition subtraction multiplication division fractions time and money and so instead of having to have all my different sets with these flash cards it's all consolidated so i love it we're not using multiplication and division yet but we are dipping into the other ones and it's just a nice file system to keep them all organized then in here i already had this and we just use it to store our pretend money so let me pull it out so you can see better because it doesn't open too well when it's in there usually it's out when we need it though so to pretend money i have a die in there because we need that every now and then for things that we're doing so uh sometimes we'll pull this out and just play with it we use a lot for practicing counting and whatnot and this is a new addition to our homeschool we got some cuisineer rods because we are going to be starting mekuan math next year so needed to get some quiz under rods for that i'm really excited to use those more and then we have a little mini tangram set which i can use with my pre-care while i'm working with big sister just comes with a little book and we have bigger tangram sets but this is just one that's tiny and easy to keep handy here so i would love to hear from you all in the comments is a homeschool cart something that you are currently using is it something that you're interested in using if you're not using it what are you currently using to organize your home school day and your curriculums for your kids i know some people keep like a bookshelf with a shelf for each kid my kids aren't old enough to give him that amount of responsibility honestly and uh i desperately need more bookshelf space as it is so having this rolling cart that i can just pull over to our table just like i have now has honestly been awesome and as i've shown you it holds so much of what we reach for daily and what we need daily i really hope this video was informative or at the very least fun to watch for you guys but until i see you guys in my next video the lord bless you and keep you bye
