OFFICER: Put you hands where I
can see them, on the steering wheel, right now. MAN: Oh no, dude. OFFICER: Keep your hands where
we can see them, you hear me? MAN: Yes, sir, I understand. [MUSIC - INNER CIRCLE, "BAD
BOYS"] (SINGING) Bad boys,
whatcha want, whatcha want. Whatcha gonna do when Sheriff
John Brown come for you. OFFICER: We've received a
call about a home invasion, a robbery that had occurred
on the west side of town at some apartment complexes. The victim had given a
description of a suspect vehicle as a silver or gray
Mustang with a convertible top. We eventually saw that vehicle
pulled into the Flying J truck stop to get gas. At that point, we were able
to approach the vehicle. Let me see your hands! Let me see your hands! Let me see your hands! Put your hands where
I can see them. Now, put your hands where I can
see them on the steering wheel, right now. MAN: Oh no, dude. OFFICER: Keep your hands where
we can see them, you hear me? MAN: Yes, sir, I understand. OFFICER: He seemed surprised
when we first approached him. Again, my weapon was drawn
just because of the fact that there was a gun involved. He was a home invasion suspect. The vehicle description
was pretty accurate. He had no idea
what was going on. He was confused. Basically said he was balling. He was playing basketball
with some friends and had no idea why I
would be stopping him. Somebody clear that
gun right there. OFFICER: I got it. MAN: Man, I just got to go
balling What [INAUDIBLE] me for? DETECTIVE DUBOIS:
Check this out. Said a rifle, right? OFFICER: Yeah. A rifle, an Xbox,
cash, shoes, a shirt. DETECTIVE DUBOIS: That's going
to be the gun that was stolen from our victim in our robbery. In the back seat, in plain view,
was a AR15-style rifle still in the case, which ended up
being from the victim's house. He claimed that he was playing
basketball with some friends. At some point, there
was an altercation that probably occurred,
and at some point during that altercation or
whatever was taking place, the rifle was placed in his car. So at what point did the
rifle get in your car? MAN: When they put
it in there, I guess. OFFICER: But put it
in there from where? Did you see him put it in there? MAN: I did. We were playing basketball. He said, I'm gonna
throw my shirt in here. All right, cool. OFFICER: So we
need this for sure. Definitely this to go with that. These were stolen. Yeah, from my experience
as a police officer, most of the time most
people are going to try to deny their part in
whatever role they played, so they're going to limit their
involvement as far as they can. So they may give
you a little bit of a story as to why
they were there, however, they're going to try to
minimize their involvement. Let me explain to
you what's going on, the seriousness of
what's happening, OK? The gun in your backseat is
stolen from a home invasion. MAN: A home invasion? OFFICER: It wasn't like somebody
just dropped in your seat. It was stolen from
a home invasion, OK? A gun was used during
the home invasion. I found a gun between your
seat and your console. MAN: That's mine. OFFICER: I know, which
leads me to believe what? MAN: [BLEEP], I don't know. OFFICER: I explained
to him that he was going to be charged with
aggravated robbery for the home invasion and for unlawful
carrying of a weapon. Usually, at some point, the
victims may know each other. The victim and the
suspect knows each other. A lot of times,
it's not necessarily just an absolute random crime. At some point, there's friends
of a friend of a friend that knows the victim, and
that's kind of how the home invasion starts. Not a good idea. Usually, somebody gets
hurt from the situation. OFFICER: Hey! Don't reach for anything,
you understand me? OFFICER: Did he hit your mom? MAN: Yeah, he broke her jaw. She's sitting right down there. She don't want to talk. OFFICER: Stick your
hands out the window! OFFICER: [SPEAKING SPANISH] MAN: [SPEAKING SPANISH] OFFICER: [SPEAKING SPANISH] OFFICER: They got
to be the same. Can I get his name real quick? [SHOUTING]
