and of the holy spirit amen the grace and peace of christ the love of god and the communion of the holy spirit be with you all and with your spirit brothers and sisters today is the first sunday of lent and we prepare ourselves to celebrate this mass by first recalling our sins being sorry for them and asking god for forgiveness let us now humbly acknowledge our sinfulness before god and before one another i confess it's almighty god and to you my brothers and sisters that i have greatly sinned in my thoughts and in my words in what i have done and in what i have failed to do through my fault through my fault through my most grievous fault therefore i ask blessed mary ever virgin o the angels and saints and you my brothers and sisters to pray for me to the lord our god may almighty god have mercy on us forgive us our sins and bring us to everlasting life amen [Music] me me lord let us pray almighty god grant through our observance of lent that we may grow in understanding of the riches hidden in christ and by worthy conduct pursue their effects we ask this o lord jesus christ your son who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the holy spirit one god forever and ever amen please be seated a reading from the book of the turnaround moses spoke to the people saying the priest shall receive the basket from you and shall set it in front of the altar of the lord your god what does scripture say the word is near you in your mouth and in your heart that is the word of faith that we preach for if we confess with your mouth that jesus is lord and believe in your heart that god raised him from the dead you will be saved for one believes with the heart and his soul is justified and one confesses with the mouth and his soul is saved for the scripture says no one who believes in him will be put to shame for there is no distinction between jew and greek the same lord is lord of all and reaching all who call upon him for everyone who calls in the name of the lord was led by the spirit into the desert for 40 days to be tempted by the devil he ate nothing during those days and when they were over he was hungry the devil said to him if you are the son of god command the stone to become bread jesus answered him it is written [Music] one does not live on bread alone then he took him up and showed him all the kingdoms of the world in a single instant the devil said to him i shall give to you all this power and glory for it has been handed over to me and i may give it to whomever i wish all this will be yours if you worship me jesus said to him in reply it is written you shall worship the lord your god and him alone shall you serve then he led him to jerusalem made him stand on the parapet of the temple and said to him if you are the son of god throw yourself down from here for it is written [Music] he will command these angels concerning you to guard you and with their hands they will support you lest you dash your foot against the stone jesus said to him in reply it also says you shall not put the lord your god to the test when the devil had finished every temptation he departed from him for a time the gospel of the lord praise to you lord jesus christ please be seated [Music] [Music] when the devil had finished every temptation to jesus the devil departed from him for a time the holy spirit led him to the desert to be tempted it was the holy spirit who led him to temptation the our father lead us not into temptation he allowed himself to be led to temptation he allowed himself to be tempted although he did not give in to the temptation he allowed himself to be tempted to prove that he is indeed a human being like us see jesus [Music] jesus christ true god he allowed himself to be tempted why because he wanted to prove to us that even as a human being he can resist [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] i support god we think we are weak and we are weak because we do not exercise our ability to make right decisions and stand by those decision no matter what happens once we know that something is wrong just say what jesus said just say no no no [Music] when they were confronted by the temptation to do this they did not say no maybe when he tempts us he does not show sin as wrong is very attractive otherwise [Music] sometimes the courts the judicial courts i i think sometimes i think the judicial courts have for our salvation he came down from heaven and by the holy spirit was incarnate of the virgin mary and became man for our sake he was crucified under pontius pilate he suffered death and was buried and rose again on the third day in accordance with the scriptures he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the father he will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end i believe in the holy spirit the lord the giver of life who proceeds from the father and the son who with the father and the son is adored and glorified who has spoken through the prophets i believe in one holy catholic and apostolic church i confess one baptism for the forgiveness of sins and i look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come amen heavenly father renew us in your covenant of mercy that leads us to everlasting life with humble hearts we pray lord graciously hear us lord graciously hear us may the church leaders find strength in the christ in the desert whenever they are tempted to live a life against the gospel we pray lord graciously hear us may the civil leaders be empowered by your love o lord so that they may use material and spiritual gifts for the common good we pray lord graciously hear us may filipino migrants be living witnesses of jesus salvific love so that the reign of god may spread throughout the world through them we pray lord graciously hear us as we go through this pandemic may we courageously witness to jesus christ through faith-inspired works of peace justice love and compassion we pray lord graciously hear us may those who are called upon your name in faith o father during their earthly journey hear the voice of christ welcoming them into the joy of heaven we pray lord graciously hear us for the dominican family and the families of our dominican brothers let us pray to the lord lord graciously hear us for peace between ukraine and russia let us pray to the lord lord graciously hear us for the intentions of this mass and for our personal intentions let us pray to the lord lord graciously hear us father through the spirit you led jesus into the desert to prepare him for his mission of mercy lead us by the same spirit during this lenten journey that we may be spiritually prepared to fight temptations and to celebrate the resurrection we ask this through christ our lord accept the sacrifice at your hands for the praise and glory of his name for our good and the good of all his holy church lord give us the proper disposition to make these offerings for with them we celebrate the beginning of this venerable and sacred time through christ our lord amen the lord be with you and with your spirit lift up your hearts we lift them up to the lord let us give thanks to the lord our god it is right and just it is truly right and just our duty and our salvation always and everywhere to give you thanks lord holy father almighty and eternal god by abstaining for 40 long days from food jesus consecrated through his fasting the pattern of our lenten observance and by overturning all the snares of the devil he taught us to cast out the leaven of sin so that celebrating worthily the paschal mystery we might pass over at last to the eternal paschal feast and so together with the angels and the saints we proclaim your glory as we sing [Music] of your gloves [Music] is please kneel you are indeed holy o lord the fount of all holiness make holy there for these gifts we pray by sending down your spirit upon them like the dewfall so that they may become for us the body and blood of our lord jesus christ at the time he was betrayed and entered willingly into his passion he took bread and giving thanks broke it he gave it to his disciples saying take this all of you and eat of it for this is my body which will be given up for you [Music] so in a similar way when supper was ended he took the chalice and once more giving thanks he gave it to his disciples saying take this all of you and drink from it for this is the chalice of my blood the blood of the new and eternal covenant which will be poured out for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins do this in memory of me let us proclaim the mystery of our faith [Music] therefore as we celebrate the memorial of his death and resurrection we offer you lord the bread of life and the chalice of salvation giving thanks that you have held us worthy to be in your presence and minister to you humbly we pray that partaking of the body and blood of christ we may be gathered into one by the holy spirit remember lord your church spread throughout the world and bring her to the fullness of charity together with francis our pope honest to our bishop and all the clergy remember also our brothers and sisters have fallen asleep in the hope of the resurrection and those who have died in your mercy welcome them into the light of your face have mercy on us all we pray that with the blessed virgin mary mother of god saint joseph her most chaste spouse the blessed apostles saint dominic and all the saints who have pleased you throughout the ages we may merit to be coheirs to eternal life and may praise and glorify you for your son jesus christ through him with him in him o god almighty father in the unity of the holy spirit all glory and honor is yours forever and ever oh man [Music] as one [Music] but then deliver us lord from every evil graciously grant peace in our day that by the help of your mercy you may be always free from sin and safe from all distress as we await the fulfillment of our blessed hope for the coming of our savior jesus christ for the kingdom the power and the glory are yours now and forever lord jesus christ you said to your apostles peace i leave you my peace i give you look not on our sins but in the faith of your church and graciously grant her peace and unity in accordance with your will who live and reign forever and ever amen the peace of the lord be hope and strengthen our faith we pray that you guide the people to us to find cures for this disease and to stem its transmission bless our efforts to use the medicines developed to end the pandemic in our country we pray for health workers that they may minister to the sikh with competence and compassion grant them health in mind and body strength in their commitment protection from the deceased we pray for those afflicted may they be restored to help protect those who care for them grant eternal rest to those who have died give us the grace in this trying times to work for the good of all and to help those in need may our concern and compassion for each other see us through these crises and lead us to conversion and holiness grant all these throw lord jesus christ your son who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the holy spirit god forever and ever amen we fly to your protection o holy mother of god do not despise our petition in our necessities but deliver us always from blessings upon your people who are gathered here so that hope may grow in trials virtue may be strengthened in temptation and eternal redemption be assured through christ our lord amen and may
