chicken kid I got to get to penny dog holidays can make life worth living to crave for them and we save for me but sometimes things can go horribly wrong this is Marian Sam VZ from Skegness now this is Anne Ballard and her brother Richard good child in September last year they all booked a package at the Doudna village resort in Bulgaria we've made inquiries about the hotel Pelican because it sounded brilliant in the brochure as long as there's a sunbed for me and a bar for Sam that's all we go for we went because it was my brother's fiftieth birthday and he had booked it to go to Bulgaria it sort of just been all of the family together for a nice birthday knees up they were looking forward to using the resort's Sports Center and the glorious beach but things turned sour from the moment they arrived some of the other holiday makers here said welcome to Stalag 13 were escaping on Wednesday how long have you got to do they went to check out the Sports Center the pool was already busy there was a large pool into children's pool there was a lot of clutter leaves and bits of branches and we saw things moving there were just hundreds of frogs folks with very good swimmers because I had to pull to their cell and the Sports Center had other features not mentioned in the brochure leaking water pipes broken sun loungers a 15-foot deep open shaft and finally goal posts that made soccer very much a game of two halves they headed back to the hotel Pelican at least there the pool look clean Sam and Mary VZ had already been in there was a little kiddy running around the pool trying dipping his hand in the pool all the time and I thought no and the next thing I saw a frog swimming at the side of me and I seemed shot out there there were there weren't huge frogs you know we're not talking cane toads here we're talking little frogs but frogs all the same but they were everywhere believe me but others just couldn't keep away from the pool cows walked up and just started drinking out the pool I was thinking about whether can't be much chlorine in the water also cows won't be drinking it and the frogs won't be swimming in it unfenced farmland allowed the cows and other animals to roam around the pool there we actually couldn't believe our eyes and staffed just didn't do a thing it's another sort of thing you expect to find cows drink analogous swimming pool there was still the beach in the brochure it looked like this in September it looked rather different the disappointed holidaymakers decided it was time to seek out the Balkan holidays rep we went down to the to the meeting right you know the reps meeting in the morning he justified absolutely everything oh it's Bulgaria Bulgaria its Bulgaria they also complained about their filthy rooms Mary took matters into our own hands just got me rubber gloves on I know this is gonna sound strange that add rubber gloves on holiday but I get prickly heat and I put my suntan lotion on with rubber gloves so I got narubu gloves on and I cleaned the bathroom myself the only thing their Bulgarian host seemed anxious to do was bring the season to a premature end when these little men came with his little burros and started wheeling all the potted palms away from around the pool the only bit of a sort of luxury we actually had was these palm trees and they took them away they say every picture tells the story this is Mary when she arrived and this is Sam and this is how they looked six days later when that plane touched down at Manchester and they got out into the car park I got the car and I know I was on my way home I was active then there was a long day in that 14 days that I didn't pray for Skegness see from an Ballard Richard good child and the V Z's paid three hundred and eighty seven pounds each for their holiday they've rejected an offer of 100 pounds per person from the company and are fighting on Balkan holidays says it would be unprofessional to comment while they're path we were checking in and we were told there was a four-hour delay so I asked why and the chap said due to the hurricane probably and started laughing unknown to them their flight was being rerouted they were no longer going to KO largo they were on their way to downtown Havana well the hotel that they put us in in Havana had actually five stars on the wall I wouldn't have given it one the twenty one story Neptuno is one of Havana's tallest buildings the view should have been spectacular when we got up in the morning we opened the curtains and we had to look out and the viewer for Vanna was unbelievable there was no beach it was it was black it wasn't to Beach it was mod he looked to another angle and there was buildings that were being either constructed or demolished you looked to another side and it was shantytown associate view outside the restaurant that supposed to be the beaches I said build inside the customers were not happy we values in a nothing flag job and the restaurant was told on our first full day there not to leave the building Farrell's safety due to being run down area we could be murdered apparently being a few stabbings most evenings we had prostitutes in the lobby just waiting for people to pick them up my partner was a ass if you want to marijuana cocaine heroin and we just stood there gobsmacked there were other surprises lurking in the hotel's dining room we went for breakfast lovely experience it was cold mixed vegetables there was cold peas cold brussel sprouts for your breakfast now we don't eat certain but the peas I thought well go on I'll give him a try so got this big spoon a piece shoveled in it put them in oh oh they were off but the hotel's other guests the cockroaches were prepared to risk their lives to get to the food the fruit area was actually must've had frozen you can see some of them nicely frozen because he tries to screw across the work surface stole nothing off and system jelly something cool because you couldn't get anything hot stuff took something cool so I picked the ladle up to get the jelly but it was Rene it hadn't set so I thought well never mind as long as it's cold it would be something so I picked it up like that and teamed it was cockroaches in the jelly the resident colonies of ants also wanted their fair share of the food well salads God if lettuce or whatever whatever was there you would actually see the food sort of moving gently but when you'd got to take some out and have a look you'd know why it was moving gently because it was being transported by the insects a fax from Hazen Jarvis told Andrew and Amina Hurricane George was to blame for the situation in the meantime the guests were invited to make full use of the pool which was being specially filled and they could also stroll along the nearby beach the guests thought it couldn't get worse but it did in part - hurricane George arrives but the guests are also blowing up a storm and hanging around how would you feel if your holiday kicked off with a 20 hour delay could have quite easily punch somebody especially since I were only going for a week anywhere
