HITCHHIKE COMPETITION ACROSS ENTIRE COUNTRY

over the years at yes theory we've hitchhiked across borders on deadly trains but we've never hitchhiked across an entire country and that is why for this week's irish adventure we decided to send off our editors to do just that and here are the competitors tommy he is incredibly strong fearless and really needs a win cam the double threat of master bartender and australian good looks rice unrealistically optimistic with the charm of pinocchio tristan an amazing musician and one of the luckiest people we know split into two teams they'll start at the cliffs of moher on the west coast of ireland and will have to travel 267 kilometers to dublin all relying on the kindness of strangers [Music] hi and welcome to the eclipse of moho this is my partner tommy we're going to make it to uh dublin before them too the teams were sent tommy and tristan are on the blue team and on the red team is cam and bryce almost 11 am so that gives us eight hours till sunset are you guys excited i'm way more nervous than i was an hour ago really before leaving each team was allowed one item from the gift shop to assist with their travels i'm not going to get very far brush please don't tell me something about this it's ireland well that's great with some music and a map to lead their way it was time to let the games begin boys it's been fun i guess we'll uh psych oh my god all right yeah getting on a motorway and getting a ride is gonna be hard you're on the motorway you can get arrested because you're not here right that's good to know can you bring me to a jail in dublin please kilometers just to the outside of galway and we need to get all the way i mean yeah i'm not going to get it negative about it but we did yeah just travel 100 kilometers north when we really need to go directly east handy cars and stuff okay okay great well thank you so much mike you're all right you're very welcome thank you again so much we didn't get any closer to dublin we had a nice talk we had a great talk we're in town this is a liz duverna what time is it it's 12 17. nice the greatest thing about the map is the blank backside why because i picked up a little souvenir from the galway shopping center oh i forgot we've got a graphic design student in that midst nice and clear we have four and a half hours before it gets dark which ideally we want to be back in dublin for and it's three hours away it'll be fine everything's gonna be crying yeah that's right for you is this illegal um you can get arrested because you're not here right because there's a cop over there that's why i put the sign oh you're kidding me nobody's gonna turn down this smile yeah oh look there's people turning it down no one but those two cars it was at this moment that i began to question everything what am i doing here why didn't rose make room for jack on that door when there was clearly enough room for both of them and why didn't i just get a normal job a job where i could just sit in my nice we're still on the west coast we're still on the west coast and the sun goes down in two hours and then uh i don't know about hitchhiking in the dark so now we're going into the town of laurea it's the city center [Music] don't really know what to do where to go so we're just in this pub is [Music] well we just got a guinness and a free shot of jameson the hospitality and the sweetness is awesome there is one place on the way where truckers fill up their tanks with gas hey look oh that's where that's where we're going can you guys take us to dublin oh sorry in your native tongue yeah i guess getting pretty dark out here huh yeah one of one of these many cars coming by will have some good faith street lights are on and we're relying on a sign that's now hard to read that's pretty good well lit the sun was upside down yeah so this is it this is where we're dropping it's great meeting you pleasure pleasure meeting you thank you hi all right i am a confident little boy you are on fire and honestly i'm not gonna stop you tristan you have that magic you have that charm you're gonna nail this out of the park excuse me excuse me excuse me sir are you any chance heading know what to do anymore hi um can i tell you this challenge run today are you um oh this yeah it's getting creepy now there's some voices coming from that playground over there after making no progress for four hours and without any hope of continuing we decided it was time to throw in the towel everything this town's closed like everyone's gone to bed and everything's dead our camera is dead i gopro's about to die my phone's gonna die soon so i think we have to call him the emergency assist i think this might be it for us so cam and bryce have thrown in the towel jack is gonna go pick them up but we gotta get further then we have to this is where the boys become the man does that guy just pull him excuse me sir are you by any chance heading to dublin tonight yeah okay okay how do you say yes oh my god are we gonna win oh my god this is so sick yeah tommy [Music] what time is it i'll be honestly i don't like giving up well the thing is like i said i i don't want to give up but we just have nothing left that this has a 10 on it we don't really have the option otherwise we got two thirds of the way across the country in a day for free we did pretty great actually [Music] psychology in a different way how are you oh my god do you want to hear about our challenge today we um started on the western coast of ireland we've been trying to hitch like all the way to dublin won we have no idea maybe this is closer than how far they are you guys make it first i think we're about to win i'm gonna cry almost there we're one minute away oh my god my front door you saved that live savior oh my god oh my god safe travels bye here we go [Music] i don't know we're doing this i'm exhausted [Music] [Music] it was never about the destination it was about the people that we met along the way good to meet you lads nice to meet you all the best [Music] i've got something for you no no no no no no put the hat on i'm so proud of you guys i'm so proud of all of us that we're all standing here right now yeah we actually all made it as far as i'm saying we're all winners here ireland is not small [Music] and so after over 14 hours of standing in the cold with our thumbs in the air against all odds we made it 259 kilometers across the entire country back home and i think we all learned something special along the way i learned that sometimes it's in the moments that you've lost all hope where miracles can happen and i learned that even something as simple as a tin flute can spark a lifelong friendship and i learned that maybe i could have been a sheep herder in another life and i learned that sometimes you gotta hold on for dear life and hope for the best and so ends another irish adventure but there's still plenty more to come i swore to my parents that i wouldn't get married while i was here i told him i was coming back single we're out to see the last leprechaun whisperer in all of ireland go back oh my god maybe we will see leprechauns [Music] [Applause]
