words or formulas could ever win you over for your love is undeserved [Music] somehow you still make it easy your lives are complicated you love me just the way i am so i stand here for you i'm totally surrendered with open hands and open hearts jesus have your way [Music] my brokenness my loneliness and the secrets you see my deepest thugs through me even [Music] [Music] your love's not complicated [Music] i'm totally surrendered jesus jesus i could sing over and over i love you it never grows old [Music] how could i tell you enough i could sing over oh love you oh i could sing how could i tell you well hey church we're going to stay in this moment of worship just a little bit longer we're going to take communion together and i believe that we have a powerful few moments ahead you see the joy of you guys watching online if you want to go and get your bread and your wine or your juice right now you can just pause me i'll still be here and then press play again when you're ready because across all of our hillsong uk locations to today we're taking communion as a community as a whole group of people and we've just come out of a whole month of preaching about who jesus is we've been talking about the i am statements in the gospel of john and we've got a big season coming up as well we're just stepping into our heart for the house season so we thought right now at the beginning of october as a group of people we're going to take this powerful moment together and i really hope that you can join me and we're going to believe that god is going to do something really powerful in this moment you see let me encourage you around communion just for one second in 1 corinthians 11. paul actually rebukes the corinthian community he essentially says to them that they've become obsessed with tribalism and each going their own way and they've lost unity amongst the community and as a result he says this he says i hear that there are divisions among you and then he goes on to say so as a result it is not the lord's supper that you eat and what he's saying is that actually when there is not unity in a community communion is nothing you're just eating bread and wine whereas we know as christians we know that there is a power in this moment you see as we break the bread symbolizing jesus's body and as we drink the wine symbolizing jesus's blood in that moment us with all of our brokenness and all of our baggage all of our wounds all of our weariness i don't know how you're feeling right now but we are put on a level playing field at the foot of the cross you see in front of the cross no one is special no one is prioritized but also no one is disqualified as well in taking communion we are reminded that as a group of people we stand before christ saved and redeemed and it is in remembering this that we can look to our left and to our right and see our brothers and our sisters in christ and remember that there is so much more that unites us than there is that divides us and so that's what i'm believing for this moment for you online for all of our communities across the uk who are taking this in our live services right now i'm believing that as we take communion together we are going to remember that we are powerfully united that our lord jesus christ invites each and every one of us to come and sit at his table and we sit there in joy we sit there all saved we sit there in this moment of peace being reminded that whatever's going on in your world right now jesus is with you jesus is for you and jesus died for you as well so why don't you take whatever bread that you've found i'm just going to break off a little bit of this i've got the bread and i've got the juice or the wine or whatever you've got we're going to take a moment perhaps you want to have a moment of silence and then i'm going to pray and as i pray i'm not only going to pray for the unity amongst us as a community but i'm also going to pray for whatever's going on in your life right now because as we come before jesus his presence is here right now it has been from the start of the service it's in your lounge room wherever you are as we take this moment i know a whole lot of you have gone on the website during the week you've put in prayer requests there's so much going on in people's lives right now and in this moment it all comes to a point where we're just going to take a moment for our lord and savior we're going to remember his death and his resurrection and then we're going to pray together so when you take your bread and take your wine take a moment of pause and let's pray heavenly father you are so good and in this moment of unity we stand before you we sit at your table we remember jesus your death and your resurrection and we remember that in that we are unified as sons and daughters of the living god and so right now heavenly father we bring whatever is going on in our lives before you we let down in front of you i know that there are people praying right now for accommodation there's people praying for healing there's people praying for jobs lord there's so much going on in people's lives but lord right now we are in front of you we worship you we praise you we're so thankful and grateful for your work on the cross lord we're thankful to be your people we're thankful to be the church lord lead us and guide us in these moments we give you glory and honor and praise lord we're praying for powerful miracles across wherever this is being watched right now powerful miracles in jesus mighty name everyone said amen amen amen what a powerful moment i'm so glad that we can actually a great job by the way it's awesome what a great blessing ben is you know i think for us as a now like ben talked about coming out of our month we're really focused on jesus and teaching around him but also we've got so much ahead of us in days to come i guess we really just wanted to prioritize and go jesus we want you right at the center as we move forward and for me you know i guess like dave was talking about i don't want to go without the presence of god i don't want this just to be professional church building as we head out of this season into what's to come i really want to make sure we invite the holy spirit and jesus right to be smack then in the center of what we're doing because it is exciting times we have some exciting things today in a few moments i've got one of the most exciting announcements to tell you but i can't tell you that right now we have a few other things it's exciting it is very exciting but coming up in december if you haven't heard yet we have wembley we're going back to wembley we have carols happening at wembley again this year which is so exciting i think people are doing dancing in their lounge room right now there's a few cartwheels going out there christmas music yeah there is there is i think that people are running to get their sander suits on i'm not sure if you've got your sense to it but i'm sure there's someone out there in jesus name but listen it's gonna be exciting there's the website there for details that you can jump in there tickets are available so we want to start inviting friends getting word out there i i guess the heart behind it was i went to uh one of the musicals recently uh it was it was fun i was at the dominion theater and saw the story of moses and it was exciting went to another one we've just been lapping up our new city and then uh football matches i'm gonna go see a football match soon and i thought listen if the arts and if the sporting world is getting back and gathering people and cheering about a bit of rubber and with some air in it um awesome stage musicals that are great songs i think it's time for the church to rally and for us to see at christmas time that we put jesus right in the middle of all again and so church let's rally around at christmas time so we've got cows it's going to be a brand new production that the team have been working hard on throughout lockdown and you're going to love it you're absolutely going to love it and so check out the website it's there and start grabbing your tickets and it's going to be an exciting time the other thing that i wanted to mention is coming up at the end of october is our uh mega prayer night well it's not just a mega print but it's a mega prayer weekend and i guess why do you see the significance of that right across locations i think the power of prayer cannot be underestimated can it and um we've seen it over these past two years as well so many faithful people praying while we've been locked down and haven't been able to gather together and now this concept to be able to all across the uk to be able to actually gather in the same room and of course there'll be people online as well and just pray as a community and corporately and believe god for incredible miracles i think you know it gives me goosebumps just thinking about it but um i'm stirred by what's ahead with that i think so and i guess for across uh the month of october and i guess into a little bit november this next season and series really i guess it's our heart for the house season and taking as many times as we can throughout the moment to just go hey but this isn't just our efforts this isn't wasn't the church isn't our idea it's not a human idea it's god's it's what jesus gave his life for and so i think as we step forward over these next few weeks and we're going to have different series and different things unpack again i'm really excited about what's to come but as we get to just before our heart for the house offering the first week of november the week before that we just wanted to ride across services right across locations have a weekend where we go you know what let's pray let's believe it isn't just us but let's pray over this whole significant season and some of the things i'm going to unpack in a few moments and so for the dominion specifically at the end the 31st of october we are launching our evening services on the 31st of october at 5pm and so if you've been waiting maybe been working maybe you've been doing whatever that you couldn't make it to 11am maybe just like online getting out of bed with your robe with your coffee and like hey i'll get there hey we're starting you can get to church 5 p.m there's no tickets so you can just turn up uh there's some procedures that you can either scan when you come in or register your details beforehand just to work with the dominion theater but that night our first kickoff of the evening services again we're going to take some time to pray and to worship and to really seek after god and what he wants to do in our community in jesus name and so it's going to be a great time but now your courage around our communion being also encourages us around our giving and so yeah 100 and i think i'm just going to stick on the same theme to be honest you know when we had communion a moment ago we reminded ourselves of the unity that we have before christ and actually the christian community is meant to be defined by unity it's one of the key foundations of who we are as a people that we come before and we have christ above us and leading us and guiding us and in us and as a result we have our brothers and sisters beside us and people know us because of our love for one another it's all about being defined by unity um the bible the scriptures they speak about it so much and i could pick many verses that encourage us towards being unified as a people and so when we come about a moment like this which is a giving moment i think so often it can be easy to drift and to think to ourselves okay this is the moment where the church is asking me for money they want me to give and it's almost like we separate ourselves from this institutional concept of the church but can i just draw you back to that communion moment and as we all stood there standing before christ taking the bread and the wine we reminded ourselves that actually we are the church we are god's people and community so this isn't a moment of giving to something but it is rather a moment of unity it's a moment where we say you know what as a group of people we want to share our resources we want to come together we want to contribute together in a unified fashion it won in heart and soul to see god's purposes move forward to see his kingdom move forward in our cities in our nation come on i know that you guys are passionate about it as i am and that's what i'm believing for in this moment so i know that on the screen as i speak right now there will be the ways that you can give just coming up and you can read them and whichever one is more convenient for you you can go with it but just remember that concept of unity it's appropriate for communion it's appropriate when we give why because it's who we are we are a community of people one heart one soul we love jesus and we believe that there are many many lost people that need to know who he is and uh come into his house and we want to make the space for them so let me pray over your giving as well and then we'll go from there heavenly father lord we thank you that before you we are unified lord it is a level playing field lord we are one community and we are drawn together in jesus and by jesus and lord we just want to form more and more into the likeness of you as a as individuals but also as a community as well so in moments like this lord as we are called to be unified not only in our time not only only in our heart but also in our resource as well lord as we bring our giving into the house of the lord we pray that you would just take it that you would use it for your glory and your glory alone lord not for our purposes but yours not for our will but your will we give you glory and praise in jesus name amen amen amen well hey to all you guys watching online and in your locations wherever you may be uh i'm so glad i'm hoping that wherever you're meeting today your services so far have been incredible and if you're online you've been trying to get into locations i know that it's just a hopefully a and meet some of the amazing people out there you know across the month of october it is actually black history month and looking forward to celebrating the incredible endeavors of you know the black britons throughout history and the incredible achievements and so as an australian who's just moved here what an incredible opportunity i have to learn more and immerse myself more in that things and so as a church there's going to be things throughout social media throughout the month more on our website and so we're looking forward to being a part of that and celebrating black history month as a church for sure i guess one of the reasons why i wanted everyone to jump in at this moment whether it be online or right across the country is because we have some incredible exciting news this may be one of the sundays where it's probably one of the most significant ones we've had in a long time and so i know saying that as the guy who's just moved over across the world a new lead pastor but i think you know it's just up there it's just up there and so i've been out recording with some of the team and so i wanted to show you this short clip getting ready for half of the house and as we step into this half of the house season i want to give you a little insight into something that we've been working on have a look for here in london we have some very very exciting news the whole reason why it's made possible is because people be praying and believing full of faith [Music] we have just recently signed exchanged documents and paid our deposit [Music] it's true your ears do not deceive you hopefully you're at least applauding some of you might be dancing wherever you are the fact that it is true we have uh exchanged and paid a deposit for a bran not a brand new but it is a building for us it feels like it's a brand new theater in london listen because of uh contracts are still in the middle of uh getting things finalized we can't exactly say where it is just yet although more information we can give you in coming weeks but i wanted i want to let you know that church is a significant day we have put a stake in the ground where we have purchased and purchasing um a theater in london listen this theater it will not be in replacement of the dominion it's for a community that already is exists and so when they find out about it in coming weeks i'm sure you're going to be excited too listen the reality is i wanted to let you know it is north of the thames in zone three somewhere up there so that gives some kind of clue and for burmansy and our heartbreaks because we were so close and then the last year and had to let that one go i want you to also know that there is a possibility of not just being a single portion year but it's a double portion building gear potentially and so i guess why i wanted to let you know that is half for the house coming up is it's significant this half house season across the month of october we're going to be each week unpacking and showing you uh piece by piece what we're going to be building towards and what we're going to be giving towards but i think i just wanted right at the start as we start to unpack this year it uh is let you know hey we've got some exciting opportunities we're crossing the line on but also church it's such a significant year because we actually have the opportunity right now we're in discussions we want the councils about another building for our southeast community and so there is never been a more significant time for a heart for the house miracle offering that we would all rally as a church and go hey how's this going to look and so today in light of that i've asked andrew denton he's one of our elders in australia for hillsong church he's a businessman who he's spent the last several years talking about kingdom builders and what that means uh in churches and talking about what it means to believing to finance vision like what we're talking about today i would say this that i guess it's not necessarily about hey although we're talking about finances we're talking about miracle offering a heart for the house i don't want to hear you that to hear that today because i understand people have been you know businesses uh families have been doing it tough throughout this covered season what i guess i want to put into the hearts of us as a church is saying that we're all kingdom builders we're all people who are going to give our gifts and our talents and and our resources to actually build the kingdom of god together what a great opportunity and a season ahead that we have together and so today i want to introduce andrea and he's going to come and speak i hope you're stirred excited about the opportunities in front of us with buildings we'll continue to talk about that over the coming weeks and letting you know if anything else pray pray that everything goes smoothly with uh the project that we've already paid a deposit on and pray for miracles and doors to continue to open for something for our southeast community we're not there but really depending on what comes in our heart for the house miracle offering and hoping other factors line up it is it's real enough for me to go hey this is actually a possibility but we still need miracles to unfold but i know a god who absolutely specializes in miracles so get your notepads out ready get your bibles whatever you've got ready to take notes because i'm believing you're going to be impacted and get your heart stirred to be become a part of this community says come on let's build the kingdom let's build the church together in jesus name so andrew dem over to you let's get ready for what he's got to speak to us today hey hillsong uk it is so good to be with you guys today i really obviously want to thank pastors tim and nicola for asking me to speak to your people today and how good was that video we just saw on london amazing amazing let's pray first father i thank you for the opportunity that i have today to speak to your people holy spirit i pray you'll speak through me but holy spirit i pray you touch hearts and lives today and lord i pray that you and you alone are glorified in everything that's said and done in jesus name amen amen so i need to get a couple of ground rules out very early i'm not a pastor i love pastors i just don't want to be one i'm a businessman in fact 99 of the time i sit in a congregation like you why is that i am you i'm you okay so i want you just to relax today so why do i have the microphone see i know who i am and i know my purpose i'm a kingdom builder and my purpose in life is to finance the kingdom and so i've just a little bit about myself i've been married to susan for over 36 years we have three adult children all married and we have three grandchildren and another one on the way we've been part of a hill song now for over 30 years so we've seen a lot of things happen in that 30 years i want to talk through a bit of that today about 10 years ago pastor brian asked me to become one of the elders at hillsong i had got a tear that freaked me out still freaks me out a little i actually took him out for breakfast and asked him so what do you want me to do as an elder he said nothing i said what do you mean nothing he said i didn't ask you to become an elder andrew for what i want you to do i asked you to become an elder for what i know you already do and who you already are and if you don't know who that is i've asked the wrong man so that's who i am and so for the last probably last eight nine years i've traveled the world and helped launch kingdom builders in pretty well every one of our campuses around the globe but it's so great to be speaking across the whole of the uk today so i hope you're taking notes today central london you too dublin all right who's ever read pastor brian's the church i see you know when pastor bryan wrote that in 1993 okay hillsong church didn't look like it does today our church was only 10 years old then and we were one campus in the northwest suburbs of sydney and that document i can tell you sounded impossible we didn't even own a building but today obviously that describes hillsong perfectly then in 2014 pastor brian rewrote and said the church that i now see which is an equally impossible audacious looking document but i have total faith that we'll see it come to fruition why because i've seen what's happened in the 26 years since the original document the single biggest reason for that being accomplished has been kingdom builders through giving to the foundation through the half of the house see 25 years ago we were a local church in baucom hills with one campus didn't own a building and here we are a global church over 30 countries hundreds of locations hundreds of services a weekend i think 38 locations just in australia alone now if you know anything about church finances you'll know that your weekly tithes and offerings is what's paying to turn the bright lights that are on my in my face today renting your buildings paying salaries of the pastors and the staff but it's not what opens new campuses across your city across your state across your country and around the world that's the over and above giving and that's where kingdom builders place such a pivotal role now i want to take you on a journey today both personally but also the journey of kingdom builders and where it started and where it is today and more importantly what kingdom builders can do for both hillsong uk and your own life okay kingdom builders isn't what i give to i am a kingdom builder now it didn't always look this good okay it wasn't always an elder hill song in fact i grew up the son of a pentecostal pastor who was also the son of a pentecostal pastor which is the real reason i'm not a pastor and you know i grew up on the south coast of wollongong and i was two minutes from the ocean and i used to surf since 11 years old i surfed before school after school during school yes a lot during school so much so the school and i came to an arrangement and i left now i had no clue what i wanted to do in my career growing up in a pentecostal family in the in the 1960s and 70s you know jesus was coming next week so we didn't think too much about where we're heading i went to a careers night and i looked at all the different careers and which one paid the most as an apprentice and it was a plumber and i said all right i'll do that that was that was my sole investigation into my career from my life but you know only one year later at um age 16 i met my now wife and my wife's a kiwi new zealander she came from a business family background one of the very first questions she asked me you know i'm chasing this pretty blonde girl at 16 she says to me andrew what's your five-year plan i said what's a five-year plan you know that was a third of my life at that point she said you know what are your dreams what are your goals what are your desires and you know i couldn't come up with anything i mean as far as i could talk was to look at the weekend and maybe i could get a longer surf then so i had a lot of work to do but by age 18 i bought my first house here in sydney by 20 we were married by 21 i was a father by 26 we'd had all three kids and can i tell you that was very quickly on the grind by now this is the mid-1980s and not sure what it was in the uk but around then our interest rates on our mortgages were 18 yes you heard right 18 i was working a full-time job and two other businesses and i was working from 6 30 in the morning till 10 30 at night six days a week sometimes seven my life was so out of balance it wasn't funny and i remember one day i um i came home from work to put some fuel in my body to then go back out to work again and my wife made a statement she says hey andrew you do realize don't you that i'm a single mother with three kids and i said hey that's that can't be true you're married to me she said no no andrew i'm a single mother with three kids i said come on you know like i'm always i'm here she said no andrew you're never ever here and i was like well i didn't like hearing that men you know and i said well i'm doing this for the family and she says family do you realize andrew we haven't had a holiday in over eight years at that point guys i knew i'd lost the argument and i did what you would probably do as well i walked outside closed the door got in my truck and drove down the road but i don't mind admitting i cried like a baby and i realized andrew what are you doing you're a beautiful wife three great kids and you're throwing it all away now remember i'm a christian i've been a christian my whole life i've been in church every sunday my whole life at that point in time we're actually part of hillsong already it's called hills christian life center then so i'm at church on a sunday i got my hands in the air i'm worshiping for 15-20 minutes fully surrendered 15-20 minutes but the rest of the week i'm doing andrew's purpose and i knew i knew i knew that i had to find my purpose my god-given purpose i'd read the bible from front to back you know growing up a pentecostal pastor's kid we weren't allowed to have a tv they were evil and so i'd read the bible many times i'd read every promise there was in the bible the problem was i could believe them for the pastor i just couldn't believe them for andrew the plumber so i had to get to this point i remember reading in matthew 7 about asking seeking and knocking now i've got to tell you for three weeks just three lousy weeks i asked seek and knock like i've never done before in my life can i tell you haven't been down on your knees and prayed that hard ugly tears you haven't asked hard enough god answered me on the fourth weekend that fourth weekend happened to be a men's camp now let me give you an idea where pastor brian's up at this point hillsong's now 14 years as a church we still don't have a building we're the largest church already in australia we don't own a building he's getting pretty frustrated he's praying prayers like this hey god how about you send me some millionaires to help us fund this and god shot back at him real fast no you raised them up and he's like how do i know what to do there but god gave him a word and he spoke that message at this men's camp that fourth weekend of me praying for three weeks the message he's talked about was the centurion who comes to jesus and asked him to heal his servant we all know that story famous story jesus is like sure let's go and heal your servant but this insurance like whoa hold on hold on firstly i'm not worthy of you to come to my house but secondly jesus you don't need to come you just say the word and my servant will be healed and the bible says that jesus was amazed at the man's faith jesus is not amazed many times but he was amazed at the man's faith but the centurion he says faith now this is just authority i'm a man of us i am a man under authority but i can say to this guy come he goes this guy do that he does it aren't you the same jesus just say the word and my servant will be healed pastor brian's looking at that and remember he's at a men's camp and he says guys this is amazing this centurion's got 100 men that'll do whatever is required not as robots but as willing participants with the cause of rome he says you know what as you've seen your pastor i've worked out what i need i'm looking for a hundred men a hundred men will do whatever is required not as robots but as willing participants for the cause of christ now i'm sitting on the front row that day not because there's nothing important in fact that was far from important while i was on the front row i needed to hear from god i was desperate to hear from god my heart is beating really fast like this is this is who i am next thing he says remember this is 26 years ago people 1996. he says you know what the first thing this group is going to do is we're going to raise a million dollars over and above normal ties and offerings well i've got to tell you i could do the math but that that threw me but i was like yes this is who i am i remember i walked straight up to pastor brian after he'd spoke and i put my hand out and i said i'm in i'm sure he looked at me and thought that's nice andrew remember my life look a bit of a mess but i got a few men around him we prayed for pastor brian and that is how kingdom builders started 26 years ago pretty humble beginning now i remember i had to go home that weekend of after the men's camp and share my epiphany with my wife and fortunately for me that she was on board real fast but what did we have to have to what did we actually have to do you know what we had to do had to take a faith step that was spelt r-i-s-k you know i could speak christian these are the best of them i could talk about taking faith steps but i always had two and three back-up plans that relied on andrew but the first time my life had to take a face step they relied on god what it meant for me i had to stop working a lot of my long hours i quit one of my businesses and it was very scary and yet god provided everything and more in my life you know we came to this point in our life where we said this you know what we're either going to trust god or not okay you and liverpool and birmingham guys are getting this i want you to write this down number one you're going to trust god or not number two are you going to believe god's promises are for us or not not just for the pastor for you for me i had to believe that was for me number three was a big one do you believe that jesus defeated the devil on the cross or not see if you believe that can i tell you you'll never be fearful of another thing and the number four are you either all in or are you all out are you all in or are you all out i can remember very clearly saying to my wife babe let's go all in for the next 12 months 26 years ago i'm still here i'm still here and so what i do is know is this for the first time in my life it was the closest i've ever been to god why because when you're truly living by faith see when you're in the middle of taking a faith step it can be scary but that should only ever drive you closer to god so you may have thought that kingdom builders is about the money it's not about the money it's never been about the money it's actually always been about having a stronger relationship with jesus when you have a stronger relationship with jesus boy's able to guide us so much easier see i know the world the world out there across the uk is looking for that secret to success what's that silver bullet what's that one thing that we can do but you know as christians i believe we have it i believe it's found in matthew 6 verse 33 how's it go but seek first not second not third seek first the kingdom and his righteousness and all not some not the occasional all these things will be added to you see the number one secret is building a better relationship with god listen to the holy spirit clearer having our holy spirit antenna on high alert you know the women are much better at this than us men we're not very good at hearing from the holy spirit but we've got to get going to get used to being able to do that but it's such a difference when we put god first in our life in all areas see success isn't about money i very quickly worked out that what was the point of me becoming a millionaire my wife hated me becoming a millionaire and i was unfit and couldn't sick and couldn't enjoy it anyway or i was estranged from my kids now see god wants to see us succeed in all areas of our lives i don't have any fine print in my bible here in sydney around the world word all i'm sure it's not the same there in in london as well but what does all cover to the preceding verses talk about the gentiles chasing after the old matthew 31 and 32 says so don't worry about saying what shall we eat or what shall we drink or what shall we wear for the pagans run after all those things and your heavenly father knows okay your heavenly father knows that you need them god knows you need these things you know what that so god's got no problem with you having things which i'm happy about you know what because i like the things god's got no problem with you having the things he's just got a problem if the things have you so my advice is put god first and so when it comes to your finances being part of the all well it's just a byproduct of being blessed the money flows into the kingdom so kingdom builders is not about the money you guys in edinburgh and newcastle and north london write these things down this is the three things that i believe a kingdom builder are number one they put god first in every area of their lives okay not 80 percent not even 90 100 in every area of their life number two they believe in the vision of hillsong church pastor tim has just shared some vision with you guys and it's so exciting so excited to believe in the vision of what hillsong church is doing number three they have their pastors back you know how important it is for our pastors our senior pastors our lead pastors our campus pastors to know they have this group of people who've decided to have their back number four number four's the money but that only flows as a consequence of getting the first three right really does see i believe that as kingdom builders we should have the strongest marriages which have the greatest relationship with our kids and we should be fit and healthy well that's my top four of my all what's yours what's yours see you decide so my advice is choose to live a life with god first and choose to live a generous lifestyle now you know if you can't be generous when you have a little you will never be generous when you have a lot of the last 26 years i've met a lot of men and women have said things like this to me you know andrew when i get that promotion at work i'm going to become a kingdom builder or when i get my business to that level of turnover i'll become a kingdom builder and they get there and guess what they still don't do it why it's too hard it's too hard but my response to this is this is that you need to understand this is not about this is about equal sacrifice not equal giving not equal sacrifice but equal giving a few years back i was speaking at our greater west campus and and uh a young man comes up to me afterwards and he walks up the aisle and he's covered in tattoos from head to toe and i recognize him from 180 tc it's a teen challenge drunk drug place drug rehab and i'm expecting him to walk up and say that's great but you know that won't work for me and he shoves his hand out and says andrew i'm in he says i've worked out if i just give up coffee i'm halfway there i remember saying to justin right answer man see he was looking for a reason why he could do this not for a reason why he couldn't do this you know uh 26 years ago to be a kingdom builder in australia it was a five thousand dollar minimum my faith was so small that all i could believe for was the minimum and i remember very clearly giving that five thousand dollar check we had checks in those days and it had my fingerprints on it was pretty hard to drop into the bucket that morning it was scary but it was so exciting because over that year we changed so much in our lives in fact i worked a third less hours and yet we made more money because we put god first it was so exciting i remember actually seeing my wife straight afterwards are you ready to do it next year she said absolutely fast forward one year we're driving down norwood boulevard here to church heart for the house remember saying to the kids hey guys this is pretty exciting pretty exciting last year god blessed us we wrote a five thousand dollar check today i'm able to treble it we're writing a fifteen thousand dollar check i think we're driving like a ten thousand dollar car give you an understanding and it was it was scary but i remember actually pulling up in the car park and locking the car up and thinking myself wow this is exactly the same faith exactly the same faith i just grown you know within a couple of years you wrote an 80 000 check a couple days after that 240 000 check yeah you know what i'm starting to realize this trusting god stuff works so you cannot tell me you cannot tell me that we don't serve a trustworthy guy we do we do but i can tell you now the hardest check i ever wrote was that first one why because it was the first time we'd given sacrificially i thought i was a generous man because i'd always been a tither but tithing's not giving tithing's just bring you back to god what's already his giving starts afterwards and for us it was that first time we'd sacrificially given to god and i remember actually that first five thousand really really really important why because it actually went towards the opening of hillsong's very first building it's not very far from where i'm standing here right now now we thought we'd build ourselves a stadium but they call it the hub and the youth trash of today but you know it was it was so exciting to stand in a long line to be there at the opening my wife and i were so proud to be there because we'd given our five thousand dollars to this building i remember we got a seat in the nosebleed section up there and there was a prophecy on the night the prophecy said hilson would see multiple million dollar gifts come in well i just can get pretty excited when they need to and there was a standing ovation and it went for a long time i know it went for a long time my wife and i had a conversation through it i remember i'm clapping away like everybody else and looking around the room and thinking wow who's the crazy guy who's going to write a million dollar check that's that's crazy and my wife elbows me and she says hey i hope that doesn't mean that some multi-millionaire is going to get saved and write that check and i remember turning to her and saying well what's wrong with that babe that works doesn't it she said yes it does but wouldn't it be better been a couple who had trusted god who'd taken the stamps who'd done the hard yards and they wrote the check i'm still clapping and i turned to i said yeah that's great that's great remember i said earlier guys that the ladies here from the holy spirit clearer that night my wife heard from the holy spirit can i tell you she had no idea i certainly had no idea there was only within eight years of writing that five thousand dollar check with my brother and i in our business we wrote that million dollar check can i tell you was it exciting yeah too right was it scary yeah you bet but i can tell you now it took exactly the same faith exactly the same faith i remember we had that million dollar check and i hadn't seen many of those before in my life and i remember saying to my brother let's not drop that in the offering bucket in case they lose that sucker so we made an appointment to come and see pastor brian i remember handing him the check and he looked me in the eye and he said this denton i'm not going to treat any different and i said good i don't want to be treated any different in fact i made him promise not to tell who had given it i said because sometime this weekend some couple's going to write a 5 000 check and it's going to take exactly the same faith now i know i made it sound easy and it was just total smooth sailing and the money just piled up in the corner and we thought we'd just give some away well it was nothing like that at all i was looking for him in business with my youngest brother and we have a saying that says this when we're under attack we are right on track okay we're under attack we're right on track if you write nothing down today write that one down see the devil hates and i mean that he hates to see you succeed and he will do everything he can to distract disappoint and contain you you know his ultimate goal is to kill you but it's actually far easier for him to just contain you what i mean by that see if you're not stretching you're not making a difference you're not taking ground not taking faith steps and the devil doesn't need to even disturb you in fact he wants you to be as comfortable as possible in your little safe world can i tell you the scariest place for a christian to be is comfortable and unfortunately that's where a large proportion of christians are how do i know that because that was me for the first 31 years of my life but hey oxford tons bridge croydon i don't know about you but i want to live an exciting life i want to sit on the edge of my chair expecting life i want to live a life that requires god to turn up okay who needs safe and boring we have one chance at this life guys one chance let's make it significant can i ask you whichever location you're in to seriously consider becoming a kingdom builder the church around the world is seeing revival revival is on us we need a group of people to stand up say to our pastors tim and nicola we believe in the vision of hillsong uk we've got your back count me in see i believe this it's the pastor's job to set the vision but it's the kingdom builders who set the pace i'll say that for you again it's the pastor's job to set the vision but it's the kingdom builders who set the pace it's our responsibility people not the pastors see i actually have another name for this group of people brian houston he calls this group the core of the core of our church i like to call them the unoffendables can i get back to the centering on his men do you think this in tune whenever he went into battle did he ever look over his shoulders to see if his hundred men were there no he just knew that for the cause of rome they were there do you think in 30 years of being part of hillsong church that i have an opportunity to be offended because i have i'm still here though i'm still here pastor brian does not need to look after his shoulder he knows andrew and susan denton are just here unoffendable see we we can't afford to live a life of offence when you live offended your life is is somewhat marked stained and negative okay see a fence a fence is a dream stealer it's a relationship killer and it's definitely a time waster we haven't got time for that but to live unoffended means you're a dream release a releaser of that vision you're a relationship builder and you've chosen to be a time creator chosen to be a crime creator our pastors need to know they have this group of men and women standing with them this core of the core of our church okay who can just say to them as a leadership can i put my eldest hat on here as a leadership we just want to see you succeed in every area of your life my challenge to you berman's d guildford reading are you going to remain comfortable and contained like i was for 31 years or are you going to trust god believe in his word believe that the promises in the bible are for you not just a big ugly aussie speaking here for you decide to put god first in your life in all areas take faith steps guided by the holy spirit make wise choices god promises you success it's just your choice can ask everyone and every campus to close your eyes and if you know that you've been lacking in your trust of god and believing in his word that you want to be one of the unoffendables the core of the core a kingdom builder could ask you to put up your hands so i i know who i'm praying for i'm believing that there's men and women across the holy uk right now with their hands in the air can use me and use my gifting and my calling in a way that can actually add us add things to others i think understanding what jesus did for us and has done in us and wants to do in us changes our outlook on everything his grace when we encounter his true grace and forgiveness in our lives man it is has transformational impact and power so my question is to you is do you know jesus are you following him how are you truly surrendered to his way and his ways in your life because if you're not i'd love to lead you in a simple but powerful prayer that acknowledges hey i've been living life my own way i'm not living the way i should be i actually want to follow christ i want to be a part of his kingdom i want to be a part of reaching others for his name or maybe you just know you're a mess and you need his forgiveness in your life the wonderful thing is whoever you are today god loves you his grace is towards you and his forgiveness is for everyone all that we have to do is believe without a believe in our heart you know what i believe jesus died for me then he rose again and confessed with our mouth which is what i invite you to do now to say yes to jesus and to acknowledge your need of him but so you're not alone and saying like how do i how do i do that i know i need to do that tim how does that work well i'm going to lead you in a prayer that simply does that so wherever you are today i'm just going to lead you phrase by phrase maybe in a place where you're so ready to say this pray out loud go for it maybe just want to artery in your heart that's fine too but today god sees you he loves you and today's the right day to make this decision of jesus i want to follow you so as we pray this prayer even if you've never prayed it before i'll say these phrases out loud and why don't you repeat them after me out loud or in your heart as need be but come on pray this powerful prayer with me say thank you jesus that you love me and that you died for me today i acknowledge my need of you would you come into my life i thank you that you forgive me of all of my mistakes and today i choose to follow you help me to live every day from this moment with you in
