I wanted to go back to Hell divers 2 and retest the 5900 X if you seen my four generations of ryzen video I did comparing multiple ryzen CPUs the 3700x and 5900 X numbers ended up being practically identical now I got many comments about this thanks for watching by the way and commenting with multiple theories like this is to be expected with the 5900 X because of dual CCD latency and that an 8 core 50 700x would be faster which is most definitely not expected at all all benchmarks I've seen of all ryzen 5000 CPUs perform about the same regardless of core count in gaming except for the 5800 X 3D chip which is generally faster anyway what I did was I made 100% sure that I did the same exact Mission this time with successful extraction because in this game there can be a lot of variability I ran the 5900 X in its default 12 core configuration with bbo enabled of course and as a six core with one CCD disabled I also ran the 3700x so let's hell dive straight into it and this will make a lot more sense we're going to go ahead and begin by showing these settings this will focus on 1440p with maxed out graphical settings which should be no problem for the 4090 we should be consistently CPU bound here and obviously I can't show all the cores running at the same time otherwise we wouldn't be able to see a damn thing but before we dive into the mission we can take a look at it here on the ship and you can see on the left with 12 cores enabled the overall CPU usage percentage is lower which makes sense because the load is being spread over 12 cores instead of six but overall the performance seems to be about the same but how will they compare in a mission let's check it out the type of mission that I ended up going with was Search and Destroy it's about 11 minutes worth of gameplay and during the extraction process I ended up resetting the averages and 1% low FPS counter to gain another perspective this part pumps me up every time so we're going to watch it launch initiated go now and fear the shadow of neither death nor tyranny so this here is our six core 12 core 5900 X guy so with one CCD disabled and like I expected the performance is actually to me feels about the same as the 12 core now just remember cuz games don't utilize multi-core CPUs very well not yet anyway that's why if you look at benchmarks and the differen is between six core 8 core 12 core or 16 core Horizon they perform about the same the differences are very very small because games are mostly ring on single core performance I mean this is kind of well known um in gaming if you follow Tech channels and benchmarks and that sort of thing which I do because uh I like this sort of thing and that's kind of what we see with Intel CPUs it can be a little bit different because of the cash structure uh but as far as this game goes we're going to take a look at the numbers so let's throw in the 12 core both ccds enable 5900 X and see how they both compare if we take a look at the averages of the 64 5900 X we have 92 FPS and for 1% lows we have 68 FPS compared to both ccds enabled so 12 core 5900 X average of 97 FPS and 1% lows of 72 FPS these readings were taken right before the extraction process started and I ended up resetting the averages 1% lows counter and they're practically identical right within 5 to 6% in the favor of the 124e 5900 X but that's within margin of error so it's hard to say now could this be one of those very rare examples where the eight core could outperform it maybe I I I can't say for sure that it wouldn't just because I don't have one I wish I did so that I could test it uh maybe I'll try to find one but I don't really want to spend the money on that right now just for this one particular test although I would love to do it but I mean every other game that I've looked at I mean you can look at this yourself too you can do 5800 X versus 5900 X in a bunch of games and you will find out that the 5900 X is usually ahead a little bit or sometimes they're about on par there isn't a big difference when it comes to gaming that is only gaming not talking about multitasking or anything like that so I I I don't think I think this is uh this is about as good as you're going to get with uh with the rise this time I did not overclock or lock the clock to 4.5 GHz all core like I did on my previous video this time I just let PBO do its thing and I did the same exact thing for the 3700x but anyway let's check out the extraction compare those numbers and then we'll compare the 3700x I've got to say the extraction on the six score side was probably one of the most fun and kind of badass extractions I've had in the game just because we ran completely out of time we couldn't use our strategems anymore because our mother ships ended up taking off because time ran out there was just these waves of bugs just coming over this hill and it was just complete chaos only two of us ended up making it out uh extracting successfully including myself and another person but it it was a lot of fun and if we actually Compare the numbers which I took right after entering the ship and taking off because that's when the FPS goes way high because the game ends so that's when I took them and what we had on the six core for averages we had 89 FPS and for 1% lows we had 74 FPS compared to the full 12 core 5900 X's 96 FPS for averages and 70 FPS for 1% lows again it's a very similar situation within margin of error performance is about the same not that big of a difference the only difference that there is really is that the 6 core 5900 X CPU utilization is noticeably higher because we have half of the CPU disabled so we have 73% use versus 56% use on the 12 core side so that that kind of makes sense but yeah overall it's pretty much the same so this is not surprising to me at all as someone that has followed ryzen CPUs for a while now in gaming especially watched a ton of benchmarks seeing a lot of the num numbers I would expect even a six core 5600x to perform very similar to 5900 X in gaming 99% of the time okay now let's take a look at the 3700x and compare that in an identical Mission just like this with extraction and everything I think this is as close as we're going to get to get these CPUs to be a fair comparison okay so let's check out the 3700x versus 5 900x 12 core with a dispensing of the termicide this area is safe forever more from buk invest station so interestingly enough with the 3700x it was actually the same time of day as well as it was on the 5900 X12 core footage that I captured so that's nice but other than that it's still the same Mission with with a full party and we also ended up extracting with the 3700x as well so we're going to compare everything is going to be as close to it being the same as possible now another thing that I'll throw out there is since I don't have a 5700x or 5800 X CPU because I would like to test this Theory I'm I'm all ears for this um if you do have a 5800 X and you want to make a collaboration video of sorts all you got to do is just make sure you capture the footage make sure you're CPU bound consistently not GPU bound record averages and 1% lows and I will try to choose the same exact Mission and plan it as you obviously and then with your permission use your footage and I'll make a similar comparison video and we can put this to the test see if a if an eight core since that is a monolithic chip if you will if that would make a difference uh versus the 5900 X because if that is the case that would be like the only game I know of where that would matter so much for it to be uh noticeable anyway but with that out of the way uh let's take a look at the numbers because these are more representative of what we should have saw on my video and we didn't really see that but let's take a look on the 3700x we have 77 FPS for averages and 59 FPS for 1% lows and on the 5900 xide 12 core we have 97 FPS for averages and 72 FPS for 1% lows and the advantage for the 5900 X amounts to 26% faster on the averages and 22% faster on the 1% lows for the mission part of this video that is a lot more what you would expect actually between these two between 20 and 30% % or it can be more or maybe even less in some games but this is kind of what I expected to see now that I think back when I was recording for that video I actually had to record over a whole week because I had a lot of work to do and because there was so much footage that I captured it was over a few days and while the game did not get an update it did get Mission changes and people were doing certain missions in one day and not other missions in another day so I know with the 3700x it was more like uh one of those uh short missions that all you have to do is just survive wave after wave and then extract whereas the 5900 X footage i' had captured was uh was just long missions basically so I don't know if that maybe played a role in the results that we got so it's just a thought but anyway let's compare the extraction numbers now it is now time for the extraction guys and then we're going to wrap up this video and here the 5900 X pulls ahead a little bit because it is a rather intense part of the mission the extractions tend to usually be so for the 3700x if we take a reading right before the ship takes off in the end we have 71 FPS for the averages and 55 FPS for the 1% lows and on the 5900 X12 core side we have 96 FPS for the averages and 70 FPS for the 1% lows that Advantage amounts to 35% faster for the averages and 28% faster for the 1% lows in favor of the 12 core 5900 X I hope you guys enjoyed this look and or another look at the 5900 X and 3700x sometimes I feel like I may be overdoing these videos but they do well seems like people are interested and it is an interesting game to test because it is so CPU intensive and I hear a lot of people complain about how optimized I think the game is actually pretty good I mean there's there is a video with uh operator druski and the developers of this game where they play game and they go through a lot of the things there's a lot of stuff that's happening in this game the simulation is actually quite complex and I know that the engine is rather dated and was discontinued years ago but these devs have made it their own and I believe they have crafted something really special so with that out of the way I hope you guys like this please give it a like it helps me out a ton uh if you guys like the video but only like it if you did like it and subscribe if you want to see more content like this I'll see you in the next one bye-bye extraction complete one beginning as ah I can almost see the death throws of the bugs as the termicide suffuses their Tria
