a good day to you hell divers near the end of one of my last videos I said hell I've even stopped playing the game since the last update once again broke my favorite loadouts but it's clear their balancing team are struggling quite a lot this was just a throwaway comment talking about my personal experience I never planed to make any content around it but it would appear that it's a far larger issue than I originally thought so much so in fact that the CEO himself stepped in on the side of people advocating against the constant balance hammering he wrote yeah I think we've gone too far in some areas we'll talk to the team about the approach to balance it feels like every time someone finds something fun the fun is removed it would appear that many of you guys are in the same boat this Saga began for me back with the original rail gun Nerf one of the most fun versatile playing Styles was obviated to bring it in line with the other largely subpar Loadout options this recently continued with the quaza Nerf among others after realizing that every single Loadout I became comfortable with and enjoyed the game using there would be an inevitable obliteration of the efficacy of said Loadout anyone who's played args over the years would be able to relate to this there's nothing worse than Skilling and working around a specific build only for the devs to destroy it the moment you achieve it this has now been a long running issue in Hell divers 2 and it appears these senior devs are taking notice for me it was very easy to stop playing after the last run of Nerfs because my squad had already stopped playing weeks earlier why it just stopped being fun and that's what made hell divers 2 so magical in release you just squat up drop down and have a whole heap of fun blasting enemies with your friends the experience has become increasingly more like dragging your scrotum across broken glass as the balance team have hammered down on any loadouts guns or strategems that showed even an inkling of potential I don't even have current meta video footage to use today because I simply haven't played the game long enough to record anything we all just quit playing a few minutes after it felt like pushing a boulder up a mountain and instead played different games now of course there are people out there who would enjoy this approach to balancing so I'm not looking to take anything away from them but for me the painful part of my day is running my companies when I load into hell divers 2 the last thing I want is for that pain to continue I've spent hundreds of hours in the game and I'm almost level 100 but these days I'm just finding less and less reasons to log on and that's a shame because hell divers 2 was created to be a live service game that we would continue to enjoy in perpetuity Arrowhead have just come off the massive drama with Sony attempting to enforce PSN logins for PC players luckily the community made so much noise that we got the good ending but it still took its toll in the developer the Steam Reviews were massacred and the CEO even posted about receiving a care package from a Community member and how well received it was I don't like seeing this happen to what fundamentally appears to be a great development team they created the cultural Smash Hit game of 2024 and have just been mired in mounds of controversy due to Sony their Community managers and and now apparently the balance team we even got an unintentional Cape design here based on the absolute obliteration of the Steam Reviews more recently Community manager Spitz was fired for riling up the community during the PSN Saga you may recognize the name from our last video addressing the somewhat questionable Community management team over at Arrowhead this post from Mark Kern reads hell divers has fired Discord Community manager spits who inflamed the community with his flip defense of PSN which he later walked back all roles removed and he cites asking players to do negative reviews as the reason purple was also demoted but not fired after falsely accusing me of crimes spits parting comment reads I appreciate all the support and I appreciate even more that everyone can play the game again without restrictions I knew I was taking risk with what I said about refunding and changing reviews I stand by it it was my job to represent the community and that's what I did taking the rest of the day off not feeling super well love you all an absolute crazy turbulent situation over at Arrowhead it makes you wonder how much of this could have been avoided by Basin actually prepping and briefing her team to deal with the expected Community Onslaught how much smoother could this process have been for all parties involved if they simply planned ahead now for the first time they're considering postponing their regular war bond release because of all the bad vibes around while this certainly sucks I would actually Advocate that the rate at which they're creating new weapons with these war bonds just makes the balance team's job exponentially harder they haven't even properly Bal balance the original Crop of guns and strategems the game launched with much less when you add the new ones on top I feel like these constant war bond releases are just going to compound the issue until it's virtually unmanageable regardless of how large the balance team becomes now unfortunately around 70% of the community are voting to release the war bond anyway as someone who has tested all the prior war bonds on release day I often find that there's perhaps one mildly standout option while the rest of the guns and tools are just largely forgettable this is an issue that Arrowhead need to overcome in order to make these war bonds enticing moving forward but the only way this can happen is if they stop and give themselves some breathing room I think the company would be well served to go into a consolidation phase ironing out remaining bugs and balance issues before PL forward with expanding their game imagine how much more complicated this will become when they eventually introduce the illuminate faction at this point it makes most sense to just stabilize the player base and stop the gradual Exodus the current 24 out player Peaks are in the low 100,000s which don't get me wrong is absolutely amazing but it's a fraction of what hell divers 2 was commanding back when the game was quite un quote more fun I would suggest it a good idea to try to recapture some of those lost players and use that as a foundation in order to push the game onto New Heights over time but perhaps that's just my CEO hatch and I need to shut up and just see how things unfold above all though I'm curious what you guys think make sure to let me know
