last week we started a new series on the subject of heaven and I explained why it's important to learn about heaven in fact I gave you four reasons why it's important to learn about heaven the first reason is so that we won't have any misconceptions about heaven it's sad but the truth is most Christians don't know anything about heaven and what they think they know is actually false the second reason it's important to learn about heaven is because God commands us to in Colossians chapter 3 verses 1 & 2 we're commanded to focus on the realities of heaven and we're also commanded to think about the things of heaven heaven rather than the things of earth and I explained why we're supposed to do that last week so I'm not gonna go into that if you weren't here last week you can get the app and watch it on your phone or you can go on your computer to Cornerstone fellowship TV and watch the sermon but here's the deal you can't focus on the realities of heaven if you don't know anything about heaven and you can't think about the things of heaven if you don't know what the things that have an arm that's why we're commanded to learn as much as we can about heaven the third reason that we're supposed to learn about heaven is because it will inspire us to live for God in Philippians chapter 3 verses 13 and 14 Paul said that he focused on one thing and one thing only and that was reaching the end of the race and receiving the heavenly price and that's what motivated him to live for God and if we would do the same thing if we would focus on the end of the race and receiving the heavenly prize we would be just as motivated as Paul was to live for God and the last reason it's important to learn about heaven is because it to take away our fear of death as I said last week most Christians and then probably includes you are terrified of death but it's not supposed to be like that at least not for Christians who've lived a long full life you see when a Christian gets to the end of their life they should be looking forward to going home to heaven to be with the Lord but that's not going to happen if they don't know what's waiting for them on the other side you see it's human nature to be afraid of the unknown so if they don't know what's waiting for them on the other side they're going to be terrified and afraid it's just something that happens to all of us that's why it's important to learn about heaven now let's talk about what everyone wants to know and why you're here what does everyone want to know what is heaven like in fact that's the number one question that people ask me whenever the subject of heaven comes up pastorale and what is heaven like and my answer always shocks them you see I tell them well that depends on what you're talking about are you talking about the temporary and intermediate heaven are you talking about the time when we rule and reign with Jesus on this earth during the Millennium or are you talking about our final and permanent home in the New Jerusalem on the new earth you see if you want me to tell you what heaven is like you're gonna have to be more specific because contrary to what most people think the place where we're going when we die is not our permanent home and that shocks people when I tell them that because they think that when they die they immediately go to a place where they're going to stay for all eternity in other words they think they're going to their final destination in fact let's have a little survey here how many of you believe that until I just said that yeah let's be honest you believe that when you died you would go to this place where you would be for all eternity but people that's not true the truth is when we die and go to heaven that is not our final destination yes it's heaven but it's temporary and intermediate heaven you see there are several things that happen before we get to our final destination now I'm going to assume that most of you have a basic knowledge of eschatology how many of you know what eschatology is how many of you don't know what eschatology is all right let me explain what eschatology is eschatology is the study of the last days or what we would call the end times in fact if you do a word study on eschatology and you find out what the etymology is this is what you'll find out eschatology comes from the Greek word eschatos which means last and of course the suffix ology refers to the study of a particular subject so when we talk about eschatology we're talking about the study of the last days or the end times as we know it here on this earth now if you don't have a basic knowledge of eschatology let me recommend that you listen to some of my past sermons in fact here are some of the series that I would recommend to you let me just take a look at these this first one is the moment you die I taught on this five or six years ago you can't go to our website and find it because it was too long ago when I taught this but there's three sermons in this and if you want to know what happens the moment you stop breathing in your spirit leaves your body this is the series you need to get it's $15 in our bookstore I want you to know something we don't make any money off of this in fact we don't make any money in our cafe we always lose a little bit of money we don't make any money in our bookstore we just cover the cost so I'm not trying to get you to buy it because I want to make some money on this anyone want this I'll throw it out here and you have it later all right the next one that I would recommend is death about three years ago one of my best friend Steve Connor passed away I didn't really run around with Steve Connor in high school he was two years younger than I was but after high school we became very good friends and every whenever he was in town he would always come and spend the afternoon with me and we just talked about spiritual things and he said Allan when I die wants you to officiate my service and I really thought he was joking I don't know if he knew something but anyways about three years ago he passed away and I officiated at his funeral service and I had so many people who were my age who had questions about death and I was so surprised because these are people who'd been in church all their life this is a six-part series on death and I go mourn death in this series and I also answer some questions that people have such as when babies die do babies or children go to heaven so I talked about the doctrine of the age of accountability and I show the scriptural precedence for that I also talked about the pygmies in Africa everyone know what I'm talking about in the pygmies in Africa what about the people who die who've never heard the gospel of Jesus Christ well that's the sixth sermon in this this is death this is on line so you don't have to have anyone want this there right there anyone who wants it can get it this is eternal rewards I want you to understand something Bernie Sanders is going to be sorely disappointed if he makes it to heaven and the reason I say that is because socialism is not a part of heaven you need to understand that we're saved by grace but we're rewarded by works we're not all going to receive the same thing when we get to heaven in fact some of you going to be piss-poor in heaven and yes that word is used in the King James Version so that is not a crass word I want you to understand that but what you need to realize is if you're not laying up treasure in heaven you're not going to have any treasure when you get to heaven yes you're going to be saved but you're going to be probably upset that you didn't live for the Lord here if you don't receive your crowns who we rollover and reign over depends on what we do on this earth this is spiritual rewards there's three of them there's that alright the last is actually my verse-by-verse study on the book of Revelation took us two and a half years to get through it there are 70 different sermons that are about 45 to 50 minutes alone covers every verse in the book of Revelation this is $60 there's too many sermons to be put on our website if you want it you can pick it up in the bookstore again we don't make any money on it if you open it up there's a lot of DVDs in there we have about four or five on each DVD yeah and let me say this about that you don't buy it and start listening to it for 70 hours straight let me explain how you use that as you're doing your study and maybe there's a reference to the book of Revelation then you can actually go to one of the sermons that I taught out you have the perfect audio commentary on the book of Revelation and I'll be honest with you you won't find better Tooting my own horn anyways so as I said and getting back on track when we die and go to heaven that is not our final destination yes it's heaven but it is a temporary and intermediate heaven in fact there are several things that happen before we get to our final destination which is the New Jerusalem coming down from God out of heaven to this new earth turn with me if you would to the book of Revelation chapter 21 verses one through five five and let's read about the New Jerusalem coming down from God out of heaven to the new earth here's what it says then I saw a new heaven and a new earth for the old heaven and the old earth had passed away and the sea was also gone and I saw the holy city the New Jerusalem coming down from God out of heaven like a bride beautifully dressed for her husband I heard a loud shout from the throne saying look God's home is now among his people he will live with them and they will be his people God Himself will be with them he will wipe away every tear from their eyes and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain all these things are gone forever and the one sitting on the throne said look I am making everything new and then he said to me write this down for what I tell you is trustworthy and true and basically what that means is it will come to pass people that is our final destination the New Jerusalem on the new earth and it will literally be heaven on earth a physical heaven on a physical earth and we will inhabit it with physical bodies now let me show you a simple timeline that illustrator illustrator what's going to happen in between now and when the New Jerusalem comes down from God out of heaven to the new earth in fact you should have picked this up when you came in it's going to be on the back wall in case you didn't pick it up I want you to notice on the timeline that the first major prophet prophetic event is the rapture the rapture is a future event in which the dead in Christ are resurrected and reunited with their soul and then the believers who are alive at the time of the rapture are snatched up to meet the Lord in the air and then we go with him to heaven now as you can see on the timeline we believe in a pre-tribulation rapture in other words notice that the rapture is actually before the seven-year peace treaty underneath it's this tribulation so we believe in a pre-tribulation rapture so we are called pre-tribulation ax store pre-trib for short now the main reason that I'm pre-trib is because the Bible teaches that the rapture is imminent does everyone know what imminent means imminent means that it could happen at any time and that's why we're supposed to be watching and ready because Jesus Christ could come at any time now if you're mid-trib or your post-trib you don't believe that the rapture could happen at any time instead you believe that certain things must occur before the rapture can take place which is contrary to what the Scriptures teach in fact let me give an example to illustrate what I'm talking about if you're a mid-trip that means you believe that the rapture is going to happen in the middle of the tribulation sometime around the abomination of desolation that means that you believe that the seven-year peace treaty has to be signed first so you're gonna see a revelation of who the Antichrist is you also believe that this temple is gonna have to be rebuilt before the rapture occurs is going to be rebuilt on the Temple Mount you also believe that the two witnesses are coming so you don't actually have to be watching and ready because those things must occur before the rapture can take place so you won't be watching and ready until you see these things happen now people that's contrary to Scripture that's why I'm pre-trip now I want you to notice that there is a dotted line on the timeline between the rapture and the tribulation do you see that notice there's a dotted line until we get to that solid line the reason there's a dotted line between the rapture and the tribulation is because the tribulation does not start when the rapture occurs I know that most of you have been taught that but that's not true it starts with the signing of the seven-year peace treaty just read Daniel chapter 9 verse number 27 you'll see what I'm talking about and you'll also see it that it's the Antichrist who initiates the seven-year peace treaty but once the peace treaty is signed the tribulation begins according to the Book of Daniel now the tribulation is a seven-year period where over half of the Earth's population will die through war famine disease and natural disasters it's a time when the world's economy is going to collapse and a third of the Earth's trees plants and grasses will be burned every ocean will be poisoned and all the sea creatures will die from the second trumpet judgment and the second Bowl judgment the rivers and the strings will become like blood and because undrinkable two-thirds of all the jews in the world will be murdered in the last three and a half years of the tribulation in fact if you look up here on this timeline or looked at on your timeline you'll notice that this tribulation is seven years long three and a half years for the first part of it in three and a half years for the second part but something happens in the middle and it's called the abomination of desolation you see when the Antichrist first comes on the scene he comes as a man of peace and as a result of that everyone looks to him and says oh what a great person he is and he hides his true colors but when the two witnesses die he becomes emboldened so he's going to go inside of the temple and he's going to proclaim himself to be God and that's when you're gonna see his true colors because at that point he is going to turn his wrath upon the Jews in fact Jesus is speaking in the Gospels and this is what he says when you see the abomination of desolation take place because he's speaking to the Jews he's speaking to those who were in Judea specifically because that's where the temple will be that's where the abomination desolation will take place he says when you see the abomination desolation take place in which Daniel wrote about don't go get your coat don't pack a suitcase you flee to the wilderness why because he turns his wrath on the Jews and the Bible tells us that two-thirds of all the Jewish population will die as a result of that that's what's going to take place now people that's just some of the things that are going to happen during the seven-year period in fact Daniel chapter 12 verse number one says it will be a time of trouble such as never been seen since the existence of nations now that's kind of scary especially for those who lived through World War two America has always been blessed because with the exception of the American Revolution in the Civil War most of our wars have always been fought in other countries on their soil but if you lived in Europe at the time of world war two and you see this and hear what Daniel is saying and he tells you this is going to be a time of trouble such as never been seen since the existence of nations you think oh my gosh how could that be Jeremiah Derr 30 verse number seven says that in all the history of mankind there has never been nor will there be a time as terrible as the tribulation even Jesus said in Matthew chapter 24 verse number 21 he says for then there will be a Great Tribulation such has not occurred since the beginning of the world until now nor ever shall in fact kind of interesting because in 70 AD the Romans came and they totally annihilated almost all the inhabitants of Jerusalem they scattered them among the nation's but when you think about all the Jews that died in 70 AD Jesus says it's not even gonna hold a candle of what the tribulation is like now why in the world would God allow this to happen in other words what's the purpose of the tribulation does anyone know well actually the tribulation serves three purposes if you're taking notes write this down the first purpose of the tribulation is to put an end to wickedness and wicked people I'll talk a little bit more about this in just a second but let me give you two scriptures we're not going to turn there you can read them at home it's Isaiah chapter 13 verse 9 in Isaiah chapter 24 verse 19 the second purpose of the tribulation is to bring about a worldwide revival you see in Revelation chapter 7 verses 9 through 14 we're told that millions of people will be saved during the tribulation not thousands people but millions all of those people who weren't watching and ready for the rapture to take place all of those people who heard about it I want you to understand they're going to go through the tribulation there's also going to be a hundred and forty-four thousand Jews that are going out and spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ and there is going to be a world wide revival more people will come to Jesus Christ during the tribulation than at any other time in history now the third purpose of the tribulation is the most important in fact it is the main purpose everything else is secondary to this so what is it well the third purpose of the tribulation is to bring Israel as a nation to repentance for rejecting Jesus Christ as the and at which point they are going to accept Jesus as the true Messiah and they're going to plead for him to return and when that takes place Jesus will return now people that is the main purpose of the tribulation everything else is secondary to this and the reason I say that is because Jesus will not come back to this earth until this happens this is a prerequisite for Jesus returning to the earth now again I'm not talking about the rapture I'm talking about the second coming of Jesus Christ when he puts his feet on the ground and he established his kingdom here on this earth for a thousand years I'm talking about this point not the rapture but before Jesus can come back the Jews must repent for rejecting him as the Messiah and they must look to him as their Messiah and plead for him to return at that point he will now let me give you three scriptures to back this up and we're not going to read them but you just write them down go in go home read these scriptures but these are three important scriptures the first one is Matthew chapter 23 verses 37 through 39 I want you to understand the context or what we would call the system laban of this passage of Scripture this is right before Jesus triumphant entry he's getting ready to try at Li enter into Jerusalem he's up on the Mount of Olives he looks over the Old City of Jerusalem or what we would call the O city it was an old city back then but he's looking over today if you go to Israel what we would call the aute city of Jerusalem and he has this pang in his heart because he knows that the leadership is going to reject him as the Messiah in fact they already have and this is what he says in verse number 39 he said you will he says you will not see me again until you say blessed is he that comes in the name of the Lord now that is a messianic Psalm when you sing blessed is he that comes in the name of the Lord you were referring to the Messiah so what Jesus Christ is saying there is he's saying I will not come to this earth again until the Jews recognized me as the Messiah that's the prerequisite also Jose chapter five verse number 15 the first of the Minor Prophets Hosea Joel Amos Obadiah Jonah Micah Nahum Habakkuk Zephaniah Haggai Zechariah it's the very first minor prophet this is one of the most important messianic prophecies that most people have no idea is even in the Bible Hosea chapter 5 verse 15 it says that I will return or I will return to heaven and will not come back until they repent of their offense and that offenses singular is returning to the Jews rejecting Jesus the last one is Zechariah chapter 12 verse number 10 that's an interesting scripture most of you know it so I won't even talk about it now at the end of the tribulation Jesus physically returns to the earth look on your timeline and you can see that and he destroys the armies that have surrounded Jerusalem and a battle known as Armageddon that battle is described in Revelation chapter 19 verses 11 through 21 and then he sets up his kingdom on the earth and Jesus reigns for a thousand years at the end of this Tribulation Period at the end or I should say after the end of this millennial period this thousand years Satan who's been locked up in a bottomless pit is released and he stirs up a rebellion against the Lord but when they march against Jerusalem fire comes down from heaven and consumes every one of them you'll find that in the book of Revelation chapter 20 verses 7 through 9 and then after the Millennium you have the great white throne judgment this is where all of the unbelievers will stand before God to be judged and after standing before God they're going to be thrown into a lake of fire and it's at this time that the own heaven and the ODE earth pass away and God creates a new heaven and a new earth and the New Jerusalem comes down from God out of heaven so you literally have heaven on earth people that's your timeline does everyone understand that you should have it in your hand but basically this is it you have the rapture then the tribulation is going to begin sometimes shortly after that after the end of the tribulation Jesus returns at the Battle of Armageddon destroys all of those and he has a thousand year millennial reign the great white throne judgment and in of course the new heaven and the new earth now here's the big question where are we when all of this is taking place are we sitting around the throne of God just watching all of this as it goes down and takes place are we spectators as all of these prophetic events are being fulfilled well let me give you a principle that will help you understand where we're going to be when all of this is taking place if you're taking notes I want you to write this down as the Bride of Christ we go wherever he is you think in our covenant relationship with Jesus we are joined with him and we have become one spirit just like a married couple in fact marriage is patterned after the Covenant between Christ and the church we all know that we enter into this covenant relationship with Jesus based on faith but do you realize that we enter into marriage in the very same way I made valves to Lisa and Lisa made vows to me basically I have faith that Jesus Yvette's Jesus but Lisa close enough to Jesus that Lisa is going to be true to her vows I have faith in that but I want you to understand our marriage was not coveted until the wedding night at that point when we had sex to see I can do this in a nice way without getting in trouble at home when I enter her there is a break-in of her body a shedding of blood and we became one flesh I want you to understand something we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior the Bible says that the Holy Spirit immerses us into the body of Jesus Christ there is a breaking of his body a shedding of blood and we are joined to him and become one spirit so we're not talking about a physical marriage to Jesus we're talking about a spiritual marriage but here's the key most of you have heard this all of your life but you didn't understand that it's based on the type of covenant relationship we have with Jesus the Bible refers to Jesus as the bridegroom and the church is the bride and as his bride our place is with him and that's why when we die we go to be with the Lord in fact notice what Paul wrote in the book of second Corinthians chapter 5 verse number 8 he said yes we are fully confident he's talking about confident in this and we would rather be away from these earthly bodies for then we will be at home with the Lord in other words we are confident that when were absent from the body we are present with the Lord in other words when we die we go to be with Jesus but more and more but more importantly we go home to be with Jesus you see our home is not here our home is with the Lord and the reason why is because when we entered into this covenant relationship with Jesus and he became the bridegroom and we became the bride just like a married couple we're gonna live together and as long as we're on this earth we're not home we're not with our spiritual spouse but one day when were absent from this body we're gonna be present with the Lord and we're finally going home to be with the Lord in fact noticed what Paul wrote in the book of 1st Thessalonians chapter 4 I'm gonna only read verses 16 and 17 this is the part that talks about the rapture if you want to read all of it start at verse number 13 but let's jump in its first 16 because there's something I want to show you specifically notice what it says for the Lord Himself will come down from heaven with the commanding shout with the voice of the Archangel with the trumpet call of God first the Christians who have died will rise from their graves now you need to understand it's only talking about their physical bodies if you go back to verse number 13 you'll find out that all the people have died their souls the spirit comes back with Jesus because the moment you die you're present with the Lord the only thing is your physical body is left here on this earth so he's telling you what's going to happen to your physical body he says first the Christians who have died will rise from their graves and as we continue to read we'll find out if you read it read all of this the reason it rises from the grave is to be reunited with the soul then it goes further then together with them we who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up that phrase caught up comes from the Greek word pad so it means to be snatched up from the earth if you remember when Paul was talking about a man that he knew 14 years ago he says I don't know whether he's in the body round of the body but he was caught up to the third heaven that phrase caught up is the same greek word and what it says is i was snatched up to the third heaven paul's actually talking about himself but here it says they will be caught up in the clouds to meet the lord where in the air then we will be with the lord for how long forever so you've got the dead rising first and then the rest of us who are alive at the time when the rapture occurs we're going to be caught up or snatched up from this earth to meet the Lord in the air and then we're going to be with the Lord forever so as we look at this timeline we have to remember that wherever Jesus goes we go because he doesn't leave his bride behind so wherever he is that's where we'll be so look at the timeline now where is Jesus during this time period between the cross and the rapture does anyone know between the cross when Jesus died buried resurrected and then he ascended the Father where is Jesus right now between the cross and the rapture well he's sitting at the right hand of the Father in heaven look at Colossians chapter 3 verse number 1 notice what it says since you have been raised to new life with Christ set your sights on the realities of heaven where Christ sits in the place of honor at God's right hand now look at Psalms chapter 110 verse number 1 this is the scripture in the Old Testament that this is quoting notice what it says the Lord said to my lord so you have God saying to Jesus sit in the place of honor at my right hand until I humble your enemies making them a footstool under your feet so how long will Jesus be sitting at the right hand of the Father well it tells us right here until his enemies are humbled and placed at his feet and when is that going to happen during the tribulation that's why he doesn't return to the earth until the end of the tribulation if you remember the very first purpose of the tribulation astiz we want to put an end to wickedness into wicked people so everything comes to a climax at the end of the tribulation at that point it's time for Jesus enemies to be humbled and placed at his feet so when he returns all the wicked who have come up against Jerusalem are going to be destroyed at that point all his enemies are humbled their place to this feet and Jesus returns so where do we go when we die we go where Jesus is and since he's in heaven right now sitting at the right hand of the Father people that's exactly where we go we go to be with him and we remained there until when until the end of the tribulation now at the end of the tribulation Jesus returns to the earth and we come right along with him turn with me if you would to the book of Revelation chapter 19 verses 11 through 14 and I'll prove it to you notice what it says then I saw heaven opened and a white horse was standing there its rider was named faithful and true for he judges fairly and wages of righteous war his eyes were like flames of fire and on his head were many crowns a name was written on him that no one understood except himself he wore a robe dipped in blood and his title was the word of God and the armies of heaven dressed in the finest of pure white linen followed him on white horses now who are the armies of the heaven who follow him on white horses we are it's us let me prove it to you look at Jude chapter 1 verse 14 in fact Jude only has one chapter but if I don't say that people go wait chapter chapter 1 it's the only chapter verse 14 notice what it says Enoch who lived in the seventh generation after Adam prophesied about these people he said listen the Lord is coming with countless thousands of his Saints Saints is a term that the Bible uses to refer to Christians now look at Zechariah chapter 14 verse 5 it says you will flee through this valley for it will reach across to assail yes you will flee as you did from the earthquake in the days of king uzziah of judah and then the Lord my God will come and all of his Saints with him so we come back with Jesus to reign and to rule with him for a thousand years here on this earth look at Revelation chapter 20 verse number 6 this will put the nail in the coffin that if you don't believe this then you have to deny the Word of God notice what it says blessed and holy is the one who has a part in the first resurrection that is us because the first resurrection is the resurrection of the righteous over these the second death has no power but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with him for how long a thousand years during that millennial period now after the Millennium you have the great white throne judgment and while that's going on the old heaven and the Old Earth pass away and God creates a new heaven and a new earth so as soon as the great white throne judgment concludes the New Jerusalem comes down from God out of heaven and that's where we live for all eternity people that is our final destination in fact if you want you can read Revelation chapter 21 verses one through five I'm not going to do it I was going to put it on there but we've already read it it talks about this New Jerusalem coming down from God out of heaven and physically comes upon this new earth it is a physical city and it sits on a physical earth and because of the rapture the first resurrection we who are believers will have a physical body we live in this physical city on this physical earth that is our final destination so what is heaven like well people that depends are you talking about the temporary and intermediate heaven the place where we go when we die before the Millenium are you talking about the temporary in an intermediate heaven where we're going to be by the Lord's right-side or are you talking about the time when we rule and reign with Jesus on this earth during the Millennium who are you talking about our final destination our permanent home in the new on the odor or on the new earth well here's what we're gonna do over the next two weeks we're going to look at all of it because I want you to know what's waiting for you on the other side trust me it's better than anything you can imagine so here's what we're going to do next week next week we're going to talk about what happens to people who died before the rapture we're going to go to this heaven is this heaven ethereal in other words is it lacking material sift substance are we disembodied spirits are we go s'what is it like will we know what's going on on earth will we know our family if you were married will you know the person you were married to how is it going to be and then when the rapture occurs and if we're alive at the time of course our body is transformed and we have that type of same resurrected body that Jesus had but if we died our body is going to be resurrected and reunited 1st Thessalonians chapter 4 tells us that and we go back to heaven what are we going to be doing there during this time period known as the tribulation will we see what's going on will we know what's happening and then when we come back with Jesus to rule and reign for this thousand years during the Millennium what's it going to be like are there going to be people who make it through the tribulation in fact who are we going to rule and reign over and then at the end of the millennium and there's the great white throne judgment are there people as the millennium was being repopulated are there people that's going to live through that rebellious period and when the new heaven and new earth it comes are there going to be people who made it through the Millennium that live on this new earth and what's the City of the New Jerusalem going to be like believe it or not the Bible tells us all of this so when you ask me Alan what is heaven like I have to say you have to be more specific are you talking about the temporary and the intermediate heaven when we die right now when we go up there are you talking about the final destination when this New Jerusalem comes down this physical city and the Bible describes exactly how big it is and Jesus even talked about it believe it or not is that what you're talking about are you talking about the Millennium well that's what we're going to be looking at over the next two weeks and it ought to be very exciting but if you don't understand this timeline then you believe like most people do and it's false you have these misconceptions that when you die you're going to go to heaven and that's the same place you're going to stay for all eternity most of us have been taught that because most pastors never really studied eschatology and they never really studied what the Bible had to say about heaven but here's what Paul understood he understood that if you focus on the end of the race and you focus on receiving the spiritual rewards heavenly rewards then you're going to be motivated to live for the Lord because you understand that you have a part to play in this and what you do on this earth will determine who you rule and reign over the authority that you have and even the treasures that you have in heaven and that should inspire you to do what God has called you to do on this earth because people this is not your home if you're a Christian this is not your home now if you're here this morning and you never receive Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior I have bad news for you if you were to die at this point you would not go to heaven you would go to hell and I have news for you hell is a temporary holding place that's not your final destination because the Bible tells us when the great white throne judgment takes place what's going to happen is the physical bodies of all those people who are in hell those bodies are going to be resurrected that's the second resurrection the Bible talks about it's the resurrection of the Damned those bodies are going to be reunited to the soul and those people are going to stand before God their name is not written in the book of life they're going to be judged out of the books and thrown into the lake of fire if you're here this morning never received Jesus you're not going to heaven you're not going to rule and reign with Jesus you don't have a mansion in the New Jerusalem on the new earth the only way that you can have those things as if you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior there's not a thing you can do to make your life right with God except to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior so this morning I'm going to give you the opportunity to do that here's what I'm gonna do I'm gonna say a very simple prayer if you want to receive Jesus all you have to do is repeat this prayer after me the prayer is not magic just because you say this prayer doesn't mean that your sins are forgiven and you get to go to heaven but if you believe what you're saying if you truly want Jesus to be Lord of your life if you truly want your sins to be forgiven then all you have to do is say this prayer and mean it so I want everyone here to bow their heads close their eyes if you want to receive Jesus repeat this prayer after me god I know I'm a sinner and I know that my sin has separated me from you but God I know you love me and because you loved me you sent your son Jesus to die for my sin and I believe that when Jesus died is so with the hail to pay the penalty for my sin but I also believe that when all my sin was paid for you raised Jesus from the dead Jesus I want you to be Lord of my life I want you to be the savior of my soul please forgive me and allow me to go to heaven when I die
