miles out in front so many news but it's a zero single Bravo Roger I will uh keep an eye on that on that you know thank you so still nothing on the continental U.S radar here on frisbee whereas XM has dissolved so these are the storms here that he was talking about on the radio and I can see they are moving to the east Southeast uh with a little lock that will move out of my way but we're still yeah 70 miles he said 60. at this miserable ground speed headwind today that's another 30 minutes before I have to make a decision there and that might be yeah now the regional office B has that information already and that's pretty consistent with exam looking at where the precip is it seems heading a bit further west is a good choice today I'm less worried about turbulence none of these cars look very high but more about icing so staying clear of clouds is important for that reason today on this unseasonably cold day I'll ask for a round change via the Centralia and Des Moines vors [Music] but would it be possible to change the round to Centralia Des Moines and then the Cedar Rapids [Music] [Music] Bravo demon [Music] that is a detour 309 you check on level one zero ten thousand maybe we don't have to go all the way to Des Moines but I think this will work better altitude I wanna do for Indy Senator Roger and uh congratulations [Music] they have to deviate a little bit left and right to stay clear tops seven thousand for ten zero two nine or six zero and we're out of seventy two hundred for twelve thousand thank you cumulus cloud shops and it's uh it's a crazy day it's April 30th and I'm worried about icing and Pacific Kentucky Bravo there is some more scatter modifications 12:00 seizure miles out in front let me know if you need a DVD for that Roger yeah if I could uh deviate about within present course in about 20 to the left but it looks like it gives me a pass-through there are seven series deviations left as far as necessary are approved direct to uh okay a next area of 37 we go back to uh something along like uh 12 or 10. mango brother if something wanted one four thousand that's limited zero Tango Bravo Roger uh maintained one four thousand if I East oh man two knots now pretty soon I can descend back to 12 000 feet continue towards Des Moines VOR fighting the strong headwind so yeah I'm taking this unusual route here I could just head over to Cedar Rapids but instead I'm still on the way to Des Moines the reason I'm doing that is in this qts that I saw this morning it looked like Des Moines would have a much thinner Cloud layer than Cedar Rapids and get me out of the clouds into warmer above freezing here much sooner so I'm less likely to pick up ice should I pick some up so it seems to be uh crude to to keep going that way even if that cost me an extra 20 30 minutes or so uh sure going direct to Cedar Rapids will be faster but hey I love to fly so I can get more of it today and man the rest of the country is just uh yeah here Kentucky Indiana lots of storms uh the the Georgia coast and storms to the Carolinas Florida is still surprisingly calm this morning on the news there were weather advisories for Florida half of the state but I'm not seeing that yet 2474 Chicago Center good afternoon maintain flight level two three zero flight level two three zero Delta 2474. and then you also see uh this area it should be pretty light precip here that has been moving through my path or is moving through my path you want app right turn back to Cedar Rapids I expect that will be solid I don't think there's anything major going on here let me see Cedar Rapids overcast 3 800 yeah it's it's not low ceilings but it probably would mean more icing if I just sent through it is frequencies a few possibilities but I need to descend much lower obviously uh because I want to be below the clouds between Des Moines and Cedar Rapids because the ceilings are blow and the clouds have taken icy over Cedar Rapids now I can't descend through the clouds cancel IFR and fly VFR but if the ceilings are high enough I can also remain on my IFR Flight Plan and proceed to Cedar Rapids just at a lower altitude and we'll have to see if the as long as the minimum altitude for IFR which could be a minimum vectoring altitude it could be an airway altitude or just an off-road altitude as long as that doesn't get me back in the clouds or it's any kind of freezing conditions then uh yeah I can keep the eyebar see what other weather reports we have here uh Knoxville feeling of 4 000. charity 4 900. 5 000. yeah definitely definitely an advantage of being part of the West [Music] hello what are they saying 3 500 and everybody has gusting wind Des Moines yeah three one zero Crossing to 33. I was Cedar Rapids looking for a win Delta 24748.5 [Music] because Cedar Rapids has a Runway 3-1 and that's what I'll be taking today okay so if I wanted to be in Des Moines at 4 000 we're gonna put an altitude constraint in here and that gives me a vertical speed of 380 feet per minute uh required it may not be too early to start that descent zero Tango Bravo I would like to uh descend if possible to uh four thousand uh that should take me uh below the layer and then uh hopefully I can stay at that altitude of Cedar Rapids November 7-0 Tango Bravo uh understanding wanted to send to four thousand dude I think Rubble remember seven zero Tango Bravo just kind of maintain a four thousand so Des Moines now similar to two nine or seven five four thousands and the two Niners seven five win for a child you was flying over the Des Moines VR then Missy Rapids or you want to approach here seven zero Tango Bravo uh the former so Des Moines VOR and I'm hoping that at 4 000 I'll be below the overcast and then I'll uh try to stay below the overcast related Cedar Rapids [Music] what is the uh latest ceiling that you're seeing at the Des Moines Airport where the base of that I'll plan on riding down the tops I think they said the top for it like eight but they were all going via far easily for the I think four thousand below okay thank you that should work on uh pretty well then except your thing rather just fly hitting maybe like three six zero it looks like all it is the base layer should be like around that four thousand range anyways even in that area yeah that that sounds like a good plan uh if 360 works and then uh only to accept that leg across the point to Cedar Rapids once I get there that's another thing about fighting uh three six zero and continue the defense of four thousand and we'll uh talk about basically once you get there all right heading three six zero Defender maintain four thousand foot inside the single Bravo India Airport via as filed maintain five thousand expect available three three zero one zero attacker departure departure frequency one two three point Niner block two four four three hold for release [Music] and I'm now going to activate the leg to Cedar Rapids make this one Magento but here your precip has moved through my Chorus Line so if that ever were to be an issue it isn't anymore number seven zero Tango Bravo arrival to Des Moines been getting uh lights on Modern turbulence the whole way down and some winch here on Final I've got negative ice reports uh for the past hour to two uh Roger thank you all right take some speed out don't need to be so plastic to everybody [Music] three three four six okay this is where I want to find the right mix yeah but not foreign [Music] and I see a trace of rainbows there let's keep descending icing is usually the worst the top of the clouds top of the cumulus clouds until seeing a little bit here is not that unexpected six thousand according to what he just said it should be breaking out pretty soon probably some ground contact there okay nice little bit of ice get trace on the wing and um on a level at 4 000 that clear from here on and it's melting off the windshield the tops of the lowest layer was 7 100 and there was a trace of Rhymes in The Descent [Music] and then Roger and one answer is it looks like I could head to Cedar Rapids any time an engineer hanging around the turn right direction right turn right turn direct Cedar Rapids when it says your thing problem thank you [Music] all right both thermometers show the temperature at plus one what little eyes was on the Leading Edge is uh disappearing and we got 24 minutes to Cedar Rapids and then of course I have to land and uh really really Gusty wind but hey it's an interesting flight don't want it to get too boring from here in the interest of time we'll fast forward to The Landing in Cedar Rapids contact Tower and have a good day Martin contact the tower and you do the
