the weather outside is frightful but the heat is on inside the shop and Nick and the boys are preparing some great cars for the sunshines return we're just putting in some Dexter on three transmission fluid and the new really rebuilt transmission for the 67 Pontiac GTO that we just changed this morning I know it's a Pontiac transmission but it looks pretty original everything I mean the car has manifolds underneath it looks the brakes have been upgraded for over 80 years and upgraded nice looking car Nick gave me the task of installing this new transmission for the GTO while Oliver wrenches on the goat in the garage nick has got a multicolored Mopar ready to scream on the dyno I've got an engineer from a local a customer here in Quebec his name is their search he brought me a 3d three block to install a 440 crankshaft because he wanted to build a 426 wedge so what we got here is a 3d 3 stroker that equals that for 260 cubic inch actually 30 over bore equals 431 cubic inch and he's bought some aluminum heads from a 440 source we've installed he wants to run a cast-iron intake manifold and we made some tests during the week with the headers and now he wants to run the call with manifold so what I did is I took off the headers and then I installed it's all smiles so I'm going to do some testing with the manifolds and then compare my notes with the headers that we have done during the week so we're gonna start up warm it up I want to just take the time in one more time and we'll take it from there here we are another fun day in the diner on a Saturday so we're gonna start her up let's enjoy it so you can see this engine all different colors because my client you want to go on his own detailing on the paintwork on the engine so what we did is we assembled it left it the way you brought the pieces in we put it together we got a running on the dyno working the cam but the engine was not painted because this is the way he wants to take at home looks like a transformer but it is what it is okay let's get it started I got a couple of friends of mine sir you have nothing to do today so they came by the one here in engine I'm just gonna get it warmed up I want to check the time because I want to compare notes I'm just gonna say what I did before with the headers versus there's all smiles which I installed last night so we're gonna do some testing I like I want to show you what we've done with the headers here we did at 34 degrees and we did it with the maximum response for 36 with a 47 torque and of course the RPM is different but we're going to details after when I finished with the exhaust manifold manifolds vs. headers and here we go with the Hydra - far break my favorite super okay I'm just gonna warm it up I'll make one blast this to warm it up and then from there we'll start doing testing after that here we go we're gonna start at the 20 800 rpms we're start at 2,800 rpms and we want to stop at 5700 rpm alright here we go just make one blast let's warm up the oil now that got the oil warmed up I'm gonna check the timing and then from there we started making our test so REO with manifolds that we want to see here the results on the manifolds compared to the headers so I'm gonna just make another pool in a minute want to check the timing we'll take it from there okay I backed up the time you two degrees where it should be and now we're gonna start making our test my levels versus headers we had a foreign 36 horsepower at 57 RPM with the carter 34 degrees with headers and then we did a 47 torque at 3900 RPM this was the best test with the headers now with manifolds we're gonna make a test and we're gonna see the results right now like I usually call the elder block arbiters Carter's because they they bought out Carter a guess on the carbon is it's the same car beater so the elder block and the Carter have the same jet meteoroids and so forth all the same pieces it's changeable now here we're running a 750 CFM we discussed iron intake manifold this is the way the customer wants to run the engine and he has power brakes it's a four-speed car and I'm hoping to increase the vacuum on idle because only has 13 inches and I'm trying to get 15 inches so which I want to work on later on but for now I just want to look at maximum horsepower with what he's got here here we go and this is where we can max out with exhaust manifolds here we go and every attic okay so let's go back to last night testing back to back and here it is here's my results during the week I made some tests for the headers on the same engine with a cast iron intake manifold with headers of two inch tubing the same cam I play around the timing i maxed it out and here we have it with the headers I did with the same carburetor at 34 degrees at 5700 p.m. I made up for 36 horsepower and the torque at 3900 RPM at forty seven point three torque then I went back to exhaust mine was what the customer wanted again with the same carburetor and here it is with the exhaust model oops at 3900 p.m. again maximum torque at the same place with the headers I pulled out for 66.7 and horsepower came in at 49 instead of 57 like the headers with the exhaust valves that came in at 49 at four thirteen point two so here it is a 426 wedge mortar with a cast iron II take 750 held the block carburetor manifold vs headers I always like to look for loose afterward rebuilt any engine and this one here we'd be beating it beating it heating it up and trying everything and of course my customers very picky that he did not want any oil loose whatsoever and here it is super clean here it is it's all here we finished testing it for you you wanted this intake manifold you wanted your carburetor I too did I worked with air fuel ratio I played with the timing I left the engine to be painted by you and it's all here for you now just come and pick it up we got a 413 horsepower the way you see it and there we have it a 426 wedge pulling out for 13 horsepower a next garage while nick has been dialing in the 426 wedge first surges super beat Oliver has been working on his first ever engine rebuild the big-block Chevy for his Camaro this is my 454 big-block Chevy for my 70 Camaro I spun a rod bearing in the summer and I made a horrible knocking sound so I asked Nick if I could bring them over here and we can open it up and check out what was wrong with it pretty much we just did a refresh so new bearings rebounce the crank new bearings everywhere cleaned it cleaned it up made sure nothing was too damaged and put it back together Nick showed me what to do Vasily helped me out - and now the short block is ready this is the first full rebuild I've ever done with my own hands like top the bottom everything and thankfully Nick let me do my engine because if it wasn't for Nick I was ready to sell my car and luckily I'm around the right people who can help me out and next summer should be really really fun so thank you Nick and the guys at Nick's garage Nik is happy to help out any way he can whether it's a customer engine from a rare collector car one of his mechanics personal bills or the daily drivers that roll into the service bays and sometimes on special days like today helping out can be its own reward my stepfather is a huge fan okay so as a surprise gift to him we wanted to get a picture of you and his granddaughter okay be my pleasure where is he he lives in Trenton Ontario okay yeah he would use not here it's gonna be a surprise for him okay it was a nice surprise for all of us when Ellie dropped in to say hi and take a picture for her grandpa so Nick put on a clean shirt and made sure his visitors feel welcome that's too bad I'd like to do a breach of this engine but it's just too bad it's not a painted engine but customer wanted to paint it on his own are you ready yeah hey gun back you see the possible working on we bought it eight pieces is a piece of junk and now we're gonna make a brand-new and it's good hey it's nothing but a piece of metal right there's nothing on it all these pieces when we start adding up we're gonna start putting this whole car together like this here is only starting to do with suspension and brakes and after that we have a long way to go I'm gonna love to put her inside actually standing in the cars I'll pull it snug would be the first person in the car you know what hold it right there but you don't bring it down but we're inside we'll take a picture inside what do you think of that as Nick is fond of saying there's no point in doing half a job so if Elly's going to take the time out of her busy day for a picture with the boss he's going to make sure that she gets a good one Eddie you're gonna be the first person to sit in this car since we had it painted okay so as you can see the car has nothing in it nothing doesn't matter but you're gonna sit in it and in which because you're a small person at least the secrets we're gonna put her inside so you can take a picture of her all right one day when you get older you're gonna see it okay and it's called vanishing point a man called Kowalski drives it and we called it a Kowalski project and this is where we are building if you come back next year when this car is ready I'll take you for a drive okay it'll be much noisier next year oh yeah it's just so cute how fast it goes we don't know yet till we finish it but it's gonna be pretty fast okay Dhoni here we have your granddaughter Ellie you're sitting behind the controls of our dining room we don't have an edge run out to start running at the moment right now because we finished testing it but any your granddaughters here behind the controls solve here you are Merry Christmas Happy New Year and take care of Tony and thanks for watching this garage on YouTube thank you if you didn't get what you wanted this year or you're just tired of that ugly Christmas sweater take it off and get yourself a good-looking piece of merchandise from NYX shop we appreciate it
