In a way they are braver than Spartans.
They truly volunteered for the front lines and were not given the means to compete technologically with their covenant opponents on the ground.
And occasionally they still succeeded.
easy one of the best trailers for a game period.
Anyone know if there are any Halo novels about ODST? I saved a thread way back that had recommendations of which Halo books to read. Just can't seem to find it again.
Also: I enjoy the Gears of War trailers as well. More traditional, but the songs/poems they use are spot on.
I guess these would be spoilers if you haven't played the original ones. Gears of War 2: The Last Day
Gears of War 1
Gears of War 3
Halo def blows everyone else out of the water, but I just like the tone Gears hits with theirs as well.
All of these were so good. I remember there were at least three of them. The one where they went out into the forest and the guy was talking about the battle that took place there was epic.
Helljumper Helljumper where you been?
Wait so....(1) is there a full movie of this? And (2) what language is that?
Edits: Just wanna say thanks for the extremely well-informed and friendly responses people left, and put a quick summary of what they've shared.
Language stuff: spoken language is Hungarian which is in line with a many nods to Hungarian people/language in Reach in terms of extended universe world-building. The song is in
GaelicWelsh (note: "Gaelic" is not the name of any language and I'm dumb; the language sometimes called "Irish Gaelic" is either Irish or Gaelige. Thanks /u/MCEire for actually knowing some things) and is called Light of Aidan. You can find a version on youtube but it's not nearly as awesome as this version.Movie stuff: no full movie. This and other H3 trailer-type shorts were apparently made by Microsoft (directed by Neill Blomkamp) (thanks /u/Sithslayer78), and are rumored to have been made in part because so many props has already been made in possible prep for a full movie, which then never happened for whatever reason. Many more details in the comments!
That is all. Thanks again for all the cool info everyone!
I'm actually on my first ODST playthrough. Idk why I skipped over it. Lotta walking...
I love these threads, because theres so much love going around for these trailers and it just shows how Halo built a pretty amazing community and brought a lot of people together.
I downloaded the soundtrack to ODST before even playing the game. Fucking amazing, the weirdness of hearing saxophone with an orchestra somehow works perfectly for the mid-apocalypse-cyberpunk-nighttime-raining aesthetic.
