(electronic bloop) - Hey folks, today is
Friday, November 3rd, 2023. As usual, my name is Jake Baldino, here to talk about the video game news that has been going on this week, there's a bunch of stuff to talk about, so, we'll just jump right in. As I usually say. The first thing is regarding
Grand Theft Auto 6, people are hungry for any
little bit of news or rumor or what have you, and here's
what we got this time. Essentially, it's a little
bit of an information leak, possibly from a patent. Now, take this all with a grain of salt, because, really you never
know with this type of stuff, but some eagle eyed people
on Reddit did spot a post from a gameplay designer
at Rockstar Games, and a patent being issued, centered specifically
around character animation. Now, take this all with a grain of salt, we don't know if this is actually going to be implemented in the game. The people on Reddit
actually couldn't even verify if it's something that's
already been implemented in a previous game. Patents are issued all
the time for companies, sometimes for stuff that they
don't even end up acting upon, it's really just to kind of
control what they create, what they iterate, what they work on. But, this patent from April is called a system and method for
virtual character locomotion, designed specifically for
games, to quote Tobbelobben30, who unearthed this on
Reddit, who explains it here, apparently it's a clever system, they've built a library
of small building blocks for character movements, these blocks can be
combined in various ways to create a wide range of animations. I'll link the whole thing
in a description down below, but essentially what this is
is an expansion on the concept of building blocks of different animations being used to chain together and kind of transition into
completely different animations. Again, not super exciting,
could be kind of granular, could also not be even implemented. But, you guys always ask about any info about Grand Theft Auto 6, and there's always stuff floating around, so, here's what we had. In some more interesting
news, believe it or not, if you're a sicko like me who's online and like a video game news junkie, we finally got something
about The Day Before. Now a lot of people were
waiting with bated breath to see what the deal was with this game. It was slated for a November release, but we hadn't really
heard anything about it, the last trailer was months
back, people were unimpressed, there was issues with
the name of this game being caught up in courts, and a lotta people out there
still just doubting the fact that this is a real game. Some people say it's a scam, some people are saying it's an asset flip. Some people are just
saying it's too ambitious, it's too good to be true. But, it has been delayed,
again, now finally, the developers have come
out of the woodwork, and, the delay isn't big, thankfully, we thought this was coming in November. Now this is coming
December 7th of this year. But believe it or not, and I
think this is a good thing, it is going to be an early access release, which I think is a little
bit more transparent. Along with that, we got a new trailer that's a bit of a gameplay overview that highlights the world, the combat, playing with others, playing against other people, building out your own little base, you can get your own
ranch and customize that. Some weapon customization stuff. And, yeah. Some people out there are
comparing it to other trailers and saying that it's ripping off a Grand Theft Auto V
trailer, stuff like that, some people are still
extremely suspicious. But now I'm looking at this at this point and thinking it's a game, and it's just not as cool as
that initial reveal years ago. It no longer looks like New York City, now it's kind of like
this new made up city that has elements of New York City. Combat still, I don't know, really, regardless, when this does drop, if this does actually come
into early access December 7th, we're gonna put our money
down for it, jump in, play it, make a video, let you guys
know what the deal is. But, that's the update on The Day Before, we thought we weren't gonna hear anything, and sure enough, it still exists, and it's coming out sort of. And I say this, and I think more people should
like think this sometimes, like, obviously, people
are very skeptical of this, they're a little worried about it, but, if it turns out to be good,
then that's good, right? But who knows, I personally just think it's
a lot of different things like open world, survival,
action, multiplayer, MMO type of, a lot being taken on by a small studio, so I'm curious to see
if they can pull it off. Regardless, let's move on. The Day Before, more like maybe they made
the trailer the day before. (scoffs) Sorry. This next news is significant, but it's also disappointing, and it is the fact that Bungie has laid off 8% of its workforce, now this is significant
because it comes after a wave of other game development studios, despite a good year for gaming,
great releases, great sales, so many companies laying off employees. According to Bloomberg, sales at Bungie were running 45% below
projections for the year. Apparently Lightfall didn't quite hit as hard as they were hoping, and also, you know, pre-orders and interest in The Final Shape, are not as big as they were expecting, so they've cut like 100 jobs, and this, more than a lot of layoffs, have kind of riled up the community, and a lotta people, seemingly,
in the Destiny community, thinking like, "Well what
the hell does this mean "for The Final Shape,"
what is the state of that when so many significant and key people, including like the music
composer, have been let go? So we've seen some outcry there, and then as of yesterday,
Bungie did put out a statement, which doesn't really say much, it's just, "Hey, we had to make the hard choice "to let go of some staff, "and we're gonna focus on
making The Final Shape." Awesome. Just like a corporate statement, like they acknowledged the layoffs because people were talking
about it, it was in headlines, but, didn't really say
anything more than that. I don't have too much insight on the Destiny side of things though, so I do wanna direct to the
podcast I do with my friends, the Friends Per Second podcast, Skill Up, who is a Destiny person,
is doing an interview with other top Destiny creators to kind of figure out what this means. Much smarter people than
me, so, I will link that, that will be dropping over the weekend. Jumping over here, before we keep going, let's talk about today's sponsor, NordVPN. If you're online, you've
probably seen headlines about major companies or
just individual people being affected by data
breaches of all kinds, malware, DDOS attacks, you name it. Chances are you're probably
like me, you're super online, and because of that, you
need to be protected, there's so many reasons, and people are coming up with
new tricks, all the time, to get at your data. So you wanna be protected with NordVPN. NordVPN is the number one thing we install on all our
machines here at Gameranx. Specifically for, like
I said, online security. With NordVPN, all of your data stays safe behind a wall of

description down below. And big thanks to NordVPN
for sponsoring these videos. Now as a palate cleanser,
some goofy comic book news, Bryan Intihar from Insomniac,
the lead behind Spider-Man 2, has confirmed that Spider-Man
and their Wolverine game exist in the same universe. Now, for some people, like,
"Yeah, okay cool, whatever," but, I think that's significant, and I'd like to see more of this. I like Spider-Man 2, I
like Insomniac Games, and there's a lotta
potential to kind of build, as interest seemingly
kind of wanes in the MCU, that the video game world can really take that and run with it, and it seems like some parts of the divisions of Marvel games, and who they distribute
their games out to, are kind of interested in that, and with Brian Intihar confirming
this, that's pretty cool. I wonder when we're actually going to see anything from the Wolverine game. Who knows, but that was a
little interesting update that I wanted to highlight here. Next up, some things linked
in the description down below, the first is for one of my favorite things to talk about ever. Actually, excuse me, Robocop, Alex Murphy. Robocop Rogue City is out, and we put out the Before
You Buy video for it and it's actually pretty good. It's janky, yes. And it's a flawed game,
it's a lower budget game, but, for someone like me who was in love with the first movie from a young age, I saw it way too early, they actually understand the property. This is from Teyon, the people behind Terminator Resistance. Which, that wasn't the greatest game ever, but it kind of understood
the Terminator franchise better than previous Terminator games. They were given the keys here to Robocop, and they did a much better job. It is very cool. I don't know, like if
you're not a Robocop fan, probably not, you probably can't
overlook some of the flaws, but for me, who is looking
for some Robocop escapism, I am about it. Yes, unfortunately,
like, I hate to report, another good video game has released in the sea of games that
have dropped this year, there's too much to play, not
enough time on this earth, I keep saying. But I linked the Before You Buy in the description down below. Also, the trailer for Omni-Man, we got a teaser a couple weeks back, but now we got a full
flashy gameplay trailer of Omni-Man from Invincible kicking ass. Also, Tremor as a cameo
character, which is very cool. But (stammers), he's doing the fatality with the train thing, man, it's awesome. Again, I always put these out there and then I say like, I
don't know, Netherealm, man, they just make like the coolest trailers and the coolest shit, so, there you go. We now know that Omni-Man
is releasing November 9th. So there you go. Also out this week is the Star
Ocean Second Story remake, if you wanna check that out. It has been received very well, we haven't gotten our hands on it yet, but reviews are looking
good, so, hell yeah. And on something fun and community driven, 'cause I used to always
say this all the time, like, when smart people
are fans of video games, the sky is the limit, and
this is Bloodborne Cart, this is like part of that whole PSX or PS1 demake type of thing. This is a full fledged game, it is a Bloodborne cart racer, fan made, that is releasing January 31st, It's gonna have like multiple
characters, multiple maps. And, I like celebrating stuff like this, this shit is sick, for
lack of a better word. Also, I wanted to put this out there, because a lotta people
were hitting me up about it and asking, Konami put out
like a kind of promo video for the Metal Gear Solid
Master Collection Volume One. Featuring Solid Snake, Naked
Snake voice actor David Hayter. It's kind of him talking
up the legacy of the series and ending it with "This
is only the beginning," roll the clip. - I hope you're ready. This is only the beginning. - So a lotta people are
running wild with that, when I saw this video, I
very much was like, ah, this is just like, "Hey David Hayter, "would you like $5000 to
just come in this room "and we'll shoot ya for an hour, "and, you know, you
advertise the new game?" But some people are thinking this whole "This is only the beginning" thing, like that type of tease
is going to lead to more. I think that leading to more is going to be the Master
Collection Volume Two. But I've seen wild rumors out there, and crazy theories, like
maybe they're gonna go back and put David Hayter's voice in Metal Gear Solid V: the Phantom Pain. I don't know man, regardless the Master Collection is in
a rough state technically if you're a stickler like me, but, it's a fun video, whatever, so yeah. Also some cool DLC
announcements, Remnant 2. Another great game that released this year that I don't have enough time for, is getting DLC this November. The Awakened King,
despite the generic name, is dropping November 17th. Probably a good excuse to
jump into that game again, or if you didn't, but
you did play the original and you were waiting. It's good. And I, I hope
the DLC makes it better. And the developers behind Lies of P took a kind of victory
lap earlier in the week, announcing that the game
has sold over a million, and they've also teased
their plans for DLC, and officially confirmed that they are going to be making a sequel. So we got a little bit
of like a concept art, like two concept art images for the DLC, one specifically on a boat, maybe like a little bit
of a nautical thing. You can infer a lot from that. But, I think it's good news either way, I think specifically with the fact that they are working on a sequel means they can go crazier with the lore and other fairytale type stories, but also maybe stray a little further from the Soulsborne formula, and try and do their
own thing a little bit. Regardless, I'm just really
happy 'cause I like Lies of P, but, I wanna know what
you guys think about that and where they could
possibly go with it all. But that's it for the news this week, we gotta get back to work, so, let me know what you think in the comments about everything, really, from the Grand Theft Auto 6 stuff, to general PlayStation or Xbox news, to all the releases I mentioned,
and, you know, the layoffs, and unfortunate things like that, where do you think Bungie goes from here? I didn't even get to
really dive into it, but, there's even more details
in the Bloomberg report, about Marathon, and how
that is also being delayed, because apparently they
did some tests around it, and players were not interested. So, what do you think about
all that news coming out, what do you think about Omni-Man, are you gonna jump into that immediately in Mortal Kombat 1? And also like, as a fun question, with Bloodborne Cart being a thing, what other type game would you like to see get a PS1 cart racer type fan game? I'd love to hear, I
definitely have some theories of my, I mean, Metal Gear. That's my answer. I'm so predictable, but
let me know your picks down in the comments. Let's talk about anything in the comments. Things get a little crazy, like I always say, we'll be down there, but if you wanna yell at me directly, find me on Twitter,
Instagram, Threads, YouTube, at Jake Baldino. But again, thank you
guys for coming around, you know clicking the Like
