GSG MP40 Trigger Modification

okay so we're going to modify the trigger bar on this gsd mp40 you're going to use the larger of the allen screws or allen wrench that they give you and remove these two screws hold on this side panel on the lower receiver the longer screw goes in the back shorter screw here on the front so this is the trigger bar now when you press this trigger the hammer is located here there's about i don't know a third of an inch or three eighths of an inch of play before this trigger bar engages the hammer which creates a very long trigger pull and can affect the ability to rapid fire so what i'm going to do is i'm going to manufacture i've seen other videos they said this is aluminum but it looks like pot metal to me i'm going to use um a drawer of an old stainless steel barbecue to make a new trigger bar and i'm just going to drill a hole on the new bar there this is a torx wrench fitting so i have to take it to my shop anyway that's what we're going to do we're going gonna make a new trigger bar to shorten that play for a quicker trigger reset okay so we're in my shop and we're going to remove the trigger bar a little torch wrench here so okay so what i'm gonna use for material um is this just an old drawer to a barbecue i had that's no longer serviceable and it's stainless steel and i'm gonna try using this material now it's thinner but it's also fairly rigid so i won't know until i get it cut out so i'm gonna go ahead and trace this i don't necessarily need to trace it just indicate how long it is so i'm going to cut it along here with a cutting wheel and then see how uh see how it is after i get it cut out as far as strength what [Music] [Music] [Music] i uh so [Music] [Music] okay because i used a thinner a little bit stronger material i don't have to worry about making that recess so let's see how it works here okay so all that slack is taken up in the trigger right at the wall okay let's clean it up a little bit and i might even paint it okay so let's see how much play there is in the trigger before it engages that's about at least a half an inch if not more and um i'm gonna make a disclaimer you know working on your own guns is up to you uh one reason there is a lot of play here a lot of take up is just for safety okay in case you drop it or accidentally put your finger on the trigger so by doing this modification you're taking up all that play before you hit the wall you need to pull the trigger to line up the holes there is no screw for the front hole so that guide helps keep the trigger bar from slipping off [Music] short screw in front and back safety on okay next to test fire okay let's take her for a spin i got eight rounds just because that's all i had out so here we go rapid fire trigger works great i found some more bullets well no issues thanks for watching
