we go to Wikipedia here and research for tech support skin they have a really really really interesting article I'm here about a class of telephone fraud I don't know if you care yes yes we are aware about it yes it's interesting because if you read this first part here I'll kind of read it for you right so some of the scams have been initiated via pop-up ads and infected websites instructing the potential victim to call a number and these pop-ups often resemble error messages does that sound familiar to you that's how I got your number by the way there was a fake pop-up message it said that my computer was infected with the virus even though it's not a virus is it your computer you saw that message before on the screen yes that's how I got your number because when I connect with the computer there was no number let me tell you you weren't the first person with you when I connect with you there was no pop-up there was no number on the trains you didn't connect to my computer you're a different person entirely I'm my guess is that maybe you were a manager or something like that now what do you want me to do tell me what do you want me to do I'm just hoping you'll listen do you want I'm hoping you'll I mean you faked it or there's nothing wrong with the computer man going into going in here this is what happened you're one of your technicians came into the computer you probably this is this is on your script right if you have your script in front of you I don't know if if maybe you have that and then they type in tree and it'll list visually the directories and files in a computer and all right I was actually recording the call and you could hear the guy typing furiously you could just hear him smashing his keyboard like you hear me and he typed it in here yeah at the end he typed you have hackers and viruses in your computer right this isn't a scan this isn't a virus scan right so he wrote there are hackers in your computer I mean anyone can type something in this command prompt yeah and what's interesting is they actually talk right in here about that exactly it's some confidence tricks are basically slang and scamming to people about doing fake scans on their computer to get people to believe oh look at that actually the scammer may misuse command prompt tools to generate specific suspicious-looking output like the tree command right I'm not trying to be hung up oh that was a long time [Music] I should probably get them off of the virtual machine before I leave I'm going to go ahead go ahead and do that Wow we call tech support scammers here primarily as well as sometimes IRS gamers and other things and the whole goal of this stream other than wasting three hours of their time with multiple technicians I don't know if you caught that and at some points it sounded like multiple that might have even been hovered around the computer our goal is to not only waste their time but to raise awareness about these tech support
