things endures all things every day we are taught to love and told to love others there are times when we show love but we get insulted and trampled upon like a filthy rag a loved one makes you feel less of yourself and causes your heart to ache because of their actions hurtful words and contempt towards you in the old testament exodus chapter 21 verses 24 to 25 says the law said an eye for an eye a tooth for a tooth a hand for a hand a foot for a foot a burn for burn a wound for a wound bruise for bruise but in matthew chapter 5 verses 39 jesus christ teaches us saying do not resist the evil man who injures you but if anyone strikes you on the jaw or cheek turn to him the other one too therefore we're taught not to repay evil for evil and to be honest we can all agree that it's difficult living in such circumstances there are those persons who insult us on a constant basis and deprive us of our serenity but we let them walk away because of who we are in christ but do you know that even when we insult and get into heated arguments with them it only reduces us to their level we collect the garbage they threw at us and repay them evil for evil instead of evil for good later we regret our actions or wish we could have acted better god sees these people and he is exposing their true qualities even though sometimes it takes a while to discern who is not for you so if your right eye causes you to sin tear it out and throw it away if their words or actions make us to sin then we should cut away from them for they are not healthy to our well-being happiness and peace are detrimental for one to be successful they motivate a person to live a blissful life creating a pleasant atmosphere for creativity and helping others achieve greater heights we notice that a person who isn't at peace with themselves who doesn't have peace at home or in their workplace finds it difficult to be creative he or she could walk around every day with smiles on their face just to put on a happy look but deep down they're facing a crisis [Music] that's why we have loved ones as parents friends colleagues siblings or those in our church groups these people come into our lives to encourage us when we're down they are the pillar of support in both the good and the bad times loved ones are the strong network of people who help enhance our lives especially our mental well-being [Music] you celebrate good times and provide support during bad times your cheerleaders are your support system those people in your life that celebrate you in your wins and support you in your losses when lonely and in need of good companionship they're present too there's a sense of belonging and purpose when you're surrounded by them but when they become a thorn in your flesh the blood sucking parasites that don't aid your growth and becoming a better version of yourself then it's time to let them go [Music] why because you deserve to be happy you will encounter people who have different values and different sense of decision-making more than you you'll meet the good the bad and the detrimental you will know to cut off some relationships from the onset but others at a later period while some may be difficult to know because these persons are pretentious and are like the cunning serpent sometimes the way to grow is to subtract subtracting some people from your life's equation helps the additions it helps the additions that god has designed to their place definitely not an easy thing to do especially when it's a parent or a close relative since we're talking about blood tyres here not all toxic people are bad and cruel people they could have good intentions and not evil but as good as they are they might not be right for us the word of god tells us in first corinthians chapter 15 verses 3 do not be deceived bad company corrupts good morals having a different lifestyle from that of your loved one is a classic example going to parties having a few drinks with friends and being a socialite is fantastic so also is staying indoors too but when the social lifestyle is pointing you towards the extreme and can't be cured that's a problem especially when it causes you to sin a friend who always insists on coercing you against your will to such a lifestyle should be avoided and then you know it's time to cut ties with this person romans 16 verses 17 says i urge you brothers and sisters to watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in your way that are contrary to the teaching you have learnt keep away from them cut off who can't be there when you need them but need you to be there for them it doesn't mean you're in a position to be of help and you won't render assistance to them rather you know that they're not reliable and they're not dependable in times of need the bible says a friend is there in time of need but a brother in time of adversity jonathan loved david so much he helped david in time of trouble when his father saw it was after david's life jonathan could have allied with his father in the pursuit of david's life especially knowing that david had been crowned by the lord as king of israel do you know what that means that means jonathan and his generation wouldn't ascend the throne it could have been a good reason for jonathan to become david's enemy but that wasn't the case instead he warned david of saul's anger so that david could hide and he protected him from his father jonathan was not a friend in the good but also in the ugly and bad times a loved one who isn't present to support you in your lows doesn't deserve to have a place in your life if they can't reach out when the tough moments show up but only show up for the moments of celebration they should be kept far away yeah keep them far away keep them at arm's length god exposes the relatives of friends who don't have your best interest at heart they get close to you because of their selfish desires so also those that get close because they want to know what you're up to so as to speak ill against you and be a stumbling block to your success these are the delilahs these are the delilahs who come into our lives pretending to love us meanwhile they use the information we give them about ourselves to try and destroy us james chapter 3 verse 16 says for where there is jealousy and selfishness there is disorder in every evil practice they are like the thief that comes to destroy uncertainty a thief steals and does away with valuables [Music] when god exposes such people in your life instead of getting stung repeatedly by refusing to move from where you are currently seated in life choose to love them from a distance when god is revealing their real intent through the words they utter and their actions we shouldn't be quick to wave it off but rather look into their actions it doesn't mean having healthy arguments with your loved ones should be a cause for distance we are different and so are our views and values but when your sanity is affected and abuse sets in then such relationships should be curbed for the only person you can rely on is yourself [Music] you may ask how you're going to cut off from a family member since you're connected to them by bonds tell them how they make you feel coming peace as christ teaches us in matthew 18 verses 15 saying if your brother sins against you go and tell him his fault between you and him alone if he listens to you you have won over your brother but if he doesn't listen and change his ways even in the presence of two or three witnesses then it's best for both to go separate ways [Music] i advise you to set boundaries and respect them even while living under the same roof show kindness and never be rude or disrespectful you're creating this distance for your sanity and at the same time you shouldn't start behaving like them in the process therefore do unto them what you want done unto you love them pray for them forgive them and always
