tonight i'm here to remind you that god loves you   and wants you to find restful sleep  and this story is the wisdom of jesus   when he was on earth jesus said many many  things in the book of john there seemed to   be more long passages of things that he said to  those who were following him the words chosen   for this meditation tonight are truths recorded  by john so that he would have them for all time   and at the end john wrote now there are also many  other things that jesus did where every one of   them to be written i suppose that the world itself  could not contain the books that would be written settle down into your bed make sure you're  comfortable and relaxed and then take a deep   cleansing breath let the words of jesus minister  to your soul tonight as you sleep knowing that   he had you in mind when he said them nothing he  said was only for the crowds at that time to hear   but for all of eternity in fact all the  other gospel writers recorded jesus as saying   heaven and earth will pass away  but my words will not pass away let me pray as we begin lord  jesus living and eternal god   we treasure your word in our hearts tonight i pray  over this beloved child of yours that they might   sleep in peace because your words are spoken over  them help them to release all their cares into   your arms because you care for them thank you  for coming to earth and leaving behind so rich   a treasury of wisdom and love we thank you and  praise you in your wondrous and powerful name amen   now listen to the wisdom of jesus from the  gospel of john chapters 1 through 12 in the   english standard version from chapter 1 jesus saw  nathanael coming toward him and said of him behold   an israelite indeed in whom there was no  deceit nathanael said to him how do you know me   jesus answered him before philip called you  when you were under the fig tree i saw you   nathanael answered him rabbi you are the son of  god you are the king of israel jesus answered him   because i said to you i saw you under the fig  tree do you believe you will see greater things   than these and he said to him truly truly  i say to you you will see heaven opened   and the angels of god ascending  and descending on the son of man from john chapter 3. now there was a man of  the pharisees named nicodemus a ruler of the   jews this man came to jesus by night and said  to him rabbi we know that you are a teacher   come from god for no one can do these signs that  you do unless god is with him jesus answered him   truly truly i say to you unless one is  born again he cannot see the kingdom of god   nicodemus said to him how can a man be  born when he is old can he enter a second   time into his mother's womb and be born  jesus answered truly truly i say to you   unless one is born of water and the  spirit he cannot enter the kingdom of god   that which is born of the flesh is flesh and  that which is born of the spirit is spirit   do not marvel that i said to you you must be  born again the wind blows where it wishes and   you hear its sound but you do not know  where it comes from or where it goes   so it is with everyone who was born of the spirit nicodemus said to him how can these things be   jesus answered him are you the teacher of israel  and yet you do not understand these things   truly truly i say to you we speak of what we  know and bear witness to what we have seen   but you do not receive our testimony if i have  told you earthly things and you do not believe   how can you believe if i tell you heavenly  things no one has ascended into heaven except   he who descended from heaven the son of man and  as moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness   so must the son of man be lifted up that  whoever believes in him may have eternal life for god so loved the world that he gave his only  son that whoever believes in him should not perish   but have eternal life for god did not send his son  into the world to condemn the world but in order   that the world might be saved through him whoever  believes in him is not condemned but whoever does   not believe is condemned already because he has  not believed in the name of the only son of god from john chapter 4 a woman  from samaria came to draw water   jesus said to her give me a drink for his  disciples had gone away into the city to buy food   the samaritan woman said to him how is it  that you a jew asked for a drink from me   a woman of samaria for jews  have no dealings with samaritans   jesus answered her if you knew the gift of god and  who it is that is saying to you give me a drink   you would have asked him and he would have  given you living water the woman said to him   sir you have nothing to draw  water with and the well is deep   where do you get that living water  are you greater than our father jacob   he gave us the well and drank from it  himself as did his sons and his livestock   jesus said to her everyone who drinks  of this water will be thirsty again   but whoever drinks of the water that i will give  him never be thirsty again the water that i will   give him will become in him a spring of water  welling up to eternal life the woman said to   him sir give me this water so that i will not  be thirsty or have to come here to draw water meanwhile the disciples were urging him  saying rabbi eat but he said to them i   have food to eat that you do not know about so  the disciples said to one another has anyone   brought him something to eat jesus said to them  my food is to do the will of him who sent me   and to accomplish his work do you not  say there are yet four months then comes   the harvest look i tell you lift up your eyes  and see that the fields are white for harvest   already the one who reaps is receiving wages and  gathering fruit for eternal life so that sower and   reaper may rejoice together for here the saying  holds true one sows and another reaps i sent you   to reap that for which you did not labor others  have labored and you have entered into their labor   from john chapter 5 after this there was a  feast of the jews and jesus went up to jerusalem   now there is in jerusalem by the sheep  gator pool an aramaic called bethsaida   which has five roofed colonnades in these lay a  multitude of influence blind lame and paralyzed   one man was there who had been an invalid  for 38 years when jesus saw him lying there   and knew that he had already been there a long  time he said to him do you want to be healed   the sick man answered him sir i have no one to  put me into the also the son gives life to whom he  will for the father judges no one but   has given all judgment to the son that all may  honor the son just as they honor the father   whoever does not honor the son her   did i not tell you that if you  believed you would see the glory of god   so they took away the stone and jesus lifted up  his eyes and said father i thank you that you   have heard me i knew that you always hear me but i  said this on account of the people standing around   and they may believe that you sent me when he had  said these things he cried out with a loud voice   lazarus come out the man who had died  came out his hands and feet bound with   linen strips and his face wrapped with a cloth  jesus said to them unbind him and let him go   from john chapter 12 jesus answered where  i am going you judge according to the flesh   i judge no one yet even if i do judge my judgment  is true for it is not i alone who judge but   i and the father who sent me in your law it is  written that the testimony of two people is true   i am the one who bears witness about myself and  the father who sent me bears witness about me   jesus said to them when you have lifted up the son born blind jesus answered   it was not that this man sinned or his parents but  that the works of god might be displayed in him   we must work the works of him who sent me while  it is day night is coming when no one can work   as long as i am in the world  i am the light of the world   from john chapter 10 truly truly i say to you  he who does not enter the sheepfold by the door   but climbs in by another way that man is  a thief and a robber but he who enters by   the door is the shepherd of the sheep to him  the gatekeeper opens the sheep hear his voice   and he calls his own sheep by name and leads  them out when he has brought out all his own   he goes before them and the sheep follow  him for they know his voice a stranger they   will not follow but they will flee from him  for they is not true there is another  who bears witness about me and i know that the   testimony that he bears about me is true you sent  to john and he has bought witness to the truth   not that the testimony that i receive is from man  but i say these things so that you may be saved   he was a burning and shining lamp and you were  willing to rejoice for a while in his light   but the testimony that i have is greater  than that of john for the works that the   father has given me to accomplish the very  works that i am doing bear witness about   me that the father has sent me and the father  who sent me has himself more witness about me   his voice you have never heard  his form you have never seen   and you do not have his word abiding in you  for you do not believe the one whom he has sent from john chapter 6 jesus answered them   this is the work of god that you believe  in him who he has sent so they said to him   then what sign do you do that we may see  and believe you what recorded by john   so that he would have them for all time  and at the end john wrote now there are   also many other things that jesus did  where every one of them to be written   i suppose that the world itself could not  contain the books that would be written   settle down into your bed make sure you're  comfortable and relaxed and then take a deep   cleansing breath let the words of jesus  minister to your soul tonight as you sleep   knowing that he had you in mind when he said them  nothing he said was only for the crowds at that   time to hear but for all of eternity in fact all  the other gospel writers recorded jesus as saying   heaven and earth will pass away  but my words will not pass away let me pray as we begin lord jesus living  and eternal god we treasure your word in   our hearts tonight i pray over this beloved  child of yours that they might sleep in peace   because your words are spoken over them help them  to release all their cares into your arms because   you care for them thank you for coming to earth  and leaving behind so rich a treasury of wisdom   and love we thank you and praise you in your  wondrous and powerful name amen now listen to the   wisdom answered it was not  that this man sinned or his parents but that the   works of god might be displayed in him we must  work the works of him who sent me while it is day   night is coming when no one can work as long as  i am in the world i am the light of the world from john chapter 10 truly truly i say to  you he who does not enter the sheepfold   by the door but climbs in by another  way that man is a thief and a robber   but he who enters by the door is the shepherd of  the sheep to him the gatekeeper opens the sheep   hear his voice and he calls his own sheep by name  and leads them out when he has brought out all   his own he goes before them and the sheep follow  him for they know his voice a stranger they   will not follow but they will flee from him  for they do not know the voice of strangers   so jesus said to them truly truly  i say to you i am the door of the   sheep all who came before me are thieves and  robbers but the sheep did not listen to them   i am the door if anyone enters by me he will be  saved and will go in and out and find pasture   the thief comes only to steal and kill and  destroy i came that they may have life and   have it abundantly i am the be an odor for  he has been dead four days jesus said to her   did i not tell you that if you believed you  would see the glory of god so they took away   the stone and jesus lifted up his eyes and  said father i thank you that you have heard me   i knew that you always hear me but i said  this on account of the people standing around   and they may believe that you sent me when he had  said these things he cried out with a loud voice   lazarus come out the man who had died  came out his hands and feet bound with   linen strips and his face wrapped with a cloth  jesus said to them unbind remind you that god  loves you and wants you to find restful sleep   and this story is the wisdom of jesus   when he was on earth jesus said many many  things in the book of john there seemed to   be more long passages of things that he said to  those who were following him the words chosen   for this meditation tonight are truths recorded  by john so that he would have them for all time   and at the end john wrote now there are also many  other things that jesus did where every one of   them to be written i suppose that the world itself  could not contain the books that would be written settle down into your bed make  sure you're comfortable and relaxed   and then take a deep cleansing breath let the  words of jesus minister to your soul tonight   as you sleep knowing that he had you in mind  when he said them nothing he said was only   for the crowds at that time to hear but for  all of eternity in fact all the other gospel   writers recorded jesus as saying heaven and earth  will pass away but my words will not pass away let me pray as we begin lord jesus living  and eternal god we treasure your word in   our hearts tonight i pray over this beloved  child of yours that they might sleep in peace   because your words are spoken over them help them  to release all their cares into your arms because   you care for them thank you for coming to earth  and leaving behind so rich a treasury of wisdom   and love we thank you and praise you in your  wondrous and powerful name amen now listen to the   wisdom of jesus from the gospel of john chapters  1 through 12 in the of water and the spirit he cannot   enter the kingdom of god that which is born of  the flesh is flesh and that which is born of   the spirit is spirit do not marvel that i said  to you you must be born again the wind blows   where it wishes and you hear its sound but you  do not know where it comes from or where it goes   so it is with everyone who was born of the spirit  nicodemus said to him how can these things be   jesus answered him are you the teacher of israel  and yet you do not understand these things   truly truly i say to you we speak of what we  know and bear witness to what we have seen   but you do not receive our testimony if i have  told you earthly things and you do not believe   how can you believe if i tell you heavenly  things no one has ascended into heaven except   he who descended from heaven the son of man and  as moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness   so must the son of man be lifted up that  whoever believes in him may have eternal life for god so loved the world that he gave his only  son that whoever believes in him should not perish   but have eternal life for god did not send his son  into the world to condemn the world but in order   that the world might be saved through him whoever  believes in him is not condemned but whoever does   not believe is condemned already because he has  not believed in the name of the only son of god   from john chapter 4 a woman from samaria came  to draw water jesus said to her give me a drink   for his disciples had gone  away into the city to buy food   the samaritan woman said to him how is it  that you a jew asked for a drink from me   a woman of samaria for jews  have no dealings with samaritans   jesus answered her if you knew the gift of god and  who it is that is saying to you give me a drink   you would have asked him and he would have  given you living water the woman said to him   sir you have nothing to draw water with and the  well is deep where do you get that living water   are you greater than our father jacob he  gave us the well and drank from it himself   as did his sons and his livestock jesus said  to her everyone who drinks of this water will   be thirsty again but whoever drinks of the water  that i will give him never be thirsty again the   water that i will give him will become in him a  spring of water welling up to eternal the woman   said to him sir give me this water so that i will  not be thirsty or have to come here to draw water   meanwhile the disciples were urging him saying  rabbi eat but he said to them i have food to eat   that you do not know about so the disciples  said to one another has anyone brought him   something to eat jesus said to them my food  is to do the will of him who sent me and to   accomplish his work do you not say there are yet  four months then comes the harvest look i tell you   lift up your eyes and see that the fields are  white for harvest already the one who reaps is   receiving wages and gathering fruit for eternal  life so that sower and reaper may rejoice together   for here the saying holds true one sows  and another reaps i sent you to reap   that for which you did not labor others have  labored and you have entered into their labor   from john chapter 5 after this there was a  feast of the jews and jesus went up to jerusalem   now there is in jerusalem by the sheep  gator an aramaic called bethsaida   which has five roofed colonnades in these lay a  multitude of influence blind lame and paralyzed   one man was there who had been an invalid  for 38 years when jesus saw him lying there   and knew that he had already been there a long  time he said to him do you want to be healed   the sick man answered him sir i have no one to  put me into the pool when the water is stirred
