Gm_shambles - A Chilling Gmod Map

all right so the camera is working um this is shameless way it's a secluded community off the highway i just got here i parked my car and right off the bat there's something wrong all the windows are warded up i don't see any other vehicles in fact i um in fact when i drove in to this place i didn't see a single person uh but anyway um there have been reports of some weird things going on here and i've been sent here to check it out so yeah [Music] huh that seems a little dangerous [Music] somebody could fall in there but anyway [Music] okay i think i found a house well an open house the um the lights are on hopefully somebody's home um maybe i can ask them about the area and what's happened okay so the lights are on but i don't see anyone in there i should probably go on in um hello is anybody home anyone better check upstairs [Music] i'm coming up all these rooms are empty it's as if somebody just left in a hurry i wonder where these people are just left huh okay so maybe i should go up the street okay another house this one seems to be recently sold um hello anybody looks like it was under renovation or something that's the farm area so this place is basically located in the middle of nowhere there's just farmland all around it [Music] okay here either so this this place has always been like off the radar we've gotten reports of people missing bodies turning up on the highway near this place but even the local municipal government stays out of it [Music] what that's strange [Music] um hello anybody home is anybody there it's okay i'm not i'm not here to hurt you i can i can hear someone i'm hello um excuse me what the hell [Music] where are you let me help you it's so odd i swear i heard someone i swear i heard someone crying but hmm so i don't know i haven't come across anyone so far i've been searching for almost an hour now and i don't know not a single clue any information that i can get from this place not none at all i don't know what happened here i mean most of these houses are boarded up but some are open but they're empty let's try this one i guess worthwhile entry blood anybody home anybody huh i guess i should return back to my car and get out of here i mean i don't know i mean there's reports of ghost sightings and hauntings but i know for a fact that's all blue crap but all these people their homes their they just left it abandoned it i don't know [Music] um excuse me sir sir gm underscore shambles is an excellent map created for gary's mod by fardomaticatron it was uploaded to the workshop in 2013 and has about 160 thousand subscriptions it's not a horror map but rather a very chilling one there's no jump scares no ghosts no monsters but when you load it up you feel something is not right the nighttime setting with the golden street lights makes this map a mixture of a liminal space and reality the thing is i found this map to be one of the most disturbing maps out there and there's only one reason soundscapes the soundscapes are a combination of sounds that form an immersive environment for the listener the soundscapes used in this map do all the magic the constant repeating loop you're hearing right now implements a very subtle scare factor it's as if something is about to happen but nothing does in my opinion when you only hear a threat but not see it it is much more terrifying than getting jump scared by something that flashes on the screen for example one of the houses has this loop playing in one of the rooms [Music] this would signify that there is a person in this house but when you search all around you find no one then it starts to hit you that what you were hearing was not coming from a normal person but from something paranormal or metaphysical the overall setting of the map gives off the feeling that something terrible happened to the occupants of these houses but you can't find a single solid piece of information which would satisfy your curiosity you'll only see hints and remnants of events that happened but no explanation to that once that vague feeling is set in a person starts to imagine all sorts of things which leads them to scare themselves it is a great map i didn't find any secrets i don't know if there are any but i did a quick look around and i found the map to be awesome kudos to fardo who unfortunately has passed on as i noticed from the comments in the workshop unfortunately like the rp downtown scenario there are those conspiracy theories of code and quote the map author haunts the map but like i said in my rp downtown video that's just not possible and we should rather have some respect for a person who is no longer with us so rest in peace buddy you made one hell of a chilling map and i hope you enjoyed watching this video let me know in the comments what maps you'd like me to take a look at in the future and that's pretty much it thank you for watching [Music] you
