god set the people of israel up for victory story has it and you know the story after the plagues and after the firstborn was slain from the house of the egyptians they finally said all right we'll let you go we'll let you go and worship into the wilderness and as they left as the israelites the left bible says they left with a high hand and as they left that place they came to the red sea but it was all a plane of god because god knew exactly what was going to happen and god says that he moved the people into a position so that the egyptians could see them i don't know about you that that does something for me that the plan of god also includes a plan to defeat the enemy because god wanted his people to see the very slave masters drown in the red sea and so he set him up he said all right move you into position get pharaoh his army his chariots to come come out come up after him and think that they're going to overtake them because they're trapped at the red sea and then god split apart the sea and brought them through on dry ground in order to show them i am in control if i can defeat egypt i can defeat anybody there's no jericho there's no philistines [Music] there's no ammonites or amorites have ice there's no people that i can't destroy because he showed them from the very beginning i'm going to destroy the top and show them if i can take care of the very strongest and mightiest army there is nobody compared to the egyptians i can take care of you aren't you glad you serve a god they sang about who's always looking out for us who's always taking care of us who's always making sure that we know that we have hope in him well we're going to go before the lord in prayer just bring a few needs before the church uh continue continue to pray uh we're believing in jesus name sister brenda aikens she's still recovering she still has a lot of effects that are happening to her body from covet let's just believe that god's going to continue to strengthen her lungs and katrina's continue to strengthen her body if there's a need in the house and you just want to make that need known by the lift of your hand we we take what we call uh just unspoken prayer requests and the whole idea is this we look around and we see the people that are in need around us and we pray for one another let's bring all the needs before the church and before the lord father i believe lord god lord that you are a god who cares you're a god who's gonna give us an expected end lord we are as the israelites leaving egypt lord you're gonna you're gonna put us into the right place oh god to have victory in our lives and i'm thankful for it i'm thankful god lord god that you're setting people free even in this place tonight i believe tonight there's gonna be chains they're gonna fall off those that are addicted i i believe you're going to open doors for people who have meetings in their life i believe that every hand that was lifted it it signified lord god that there are needs lord god i don't know if it's healing but you know i don't know if it's salvation but you know i it might be a financial need it might be a need within the marriage lord you know every need and i pray for this great church i pray for these great people lord we pray together and believe lord that brenda aiken's lord god that you're gonna continue to touch her body lord god continue to give her strength god let her men lord god let her recover very quickly lord i believe lord god that you're gonna do a great work oh god in every life lord i believe lord god the sick lord god that are at home today that are watching by by way of webcast god you're going to touch them lord god you're going to speak into their lives lord god you're going to let them know that you're there with them tonight lord give them strength give them healing give them hope in jesus name we pray in the church shout amen amen and amen i want our ushers to make their way forward our choir is going to come our choir is going to sing as we march tonight let's just let's just remember how good god has been to us bring an offering of joy bring an offering today that says god your goodness your greatness your mercy your grace lord god i bring an offering tonight because you've been so wonderful to me let's pray over this offering father we love you lord i'm so thankful lord god that you've done what you have done for us for this church for our community but i'm thankful for the growth lord in our economy here in the community lord i'm thankful for the businesses coming lord to our area lord that are bringing more jobs lord i i'm thankful lord god that lord we used to pray prayers and asking god lord to get our people back into the workplace and help us to find jobs and law we're we used to pray prayers saying lord just just provide for us but now we're saying god thank you lord for the abundance of jobs and we're thankful lord for the abundance lord in the economy i'm believing in jesus name lord god that you're gonna bless every giver tonight lord god we're gonna use this lord to further your kingdom in jesus name we pray amen and amen march out the right side of your pew and back in the left side and let's give unto the lord at this time [Music] we're all on the journey and we're called to walk by faith there always be the mountains and valleys in our way but right here in this name jesus come on and really tell him i'm thankful for your name i'm thankful for your name lord it's a name that brings power that brings authority but i'm so glad i've been baptized in your name i'm so glad i took your name on in baptism oh god for your name [Music] just how great he is [Music] the name is still all powerful still doing great things [Music] is [Music] just how great he is now could you just express how great he is to it come on could you give him the greatest praise you've given him all night right now [Music] god is great amen as you make your way back to your seat you get out your bibles we'll turn to first samuel chapter number 28. first samuel chapter number 28 it is my honor and privilege to stand before you this evening i give honor to pastor sister carpenter and our entire pastoral staff didn't we hear the word of the lord this morning from pastor erickson huh i don't want to live in lotibar amen there's nothing there's nothing worse there's nothing scarier than being offended because offense proves that we have no love for the truth and if you don't love the truth you're not living in the promised land because the truth is what's the truth is what separates us from egypt right that's that's the thing that we must understand so i'm thankful i'm thankful for the truth that keeps me from being offended but what a word that we heard this morning again i give honor to all of you what a great crowd right here before fall break for the academy i know a lot of you a lot of are watching online tonight they've already made their way out of town and just doing some vacationing maybe some of you are doing that this week but i appreciate you being at the house of the lord and we're just gonna have some church tonight how about the choir praise team all the production and all the things that are happening right here to make it pleasant to worship the lord amen so thankful for the presence of god i'm thankful for the team here that gathers week in and week out and just makes makes a a great i i don't know really what words to even put it in but just makes the name of the lord great not only in this city but through the web all over this world and i'm just thankful for all the team that makes that happen i'm thankful to be a part of the church and uh last but certainly not least i want to give honor to my wife tonight and i would not be here if it wasn't for her for many reasons people say yeah you wouldn't because you're married into this thing you know so i hear that all the time but i'm thankful for my wife i'm thankful for what she means to me and it is true i would not be here because if you don't marry right young people if you don't marry right it's a long long road of a life i've seen many both sides of the coin where they married up and they live up they marry down they live down and uh it's a true statement i believe it's it is a bond and i i give honor to my wife tonight for all that she means to me first samuel chapter number 28 look at your neighbor tell them say we're gonna have fun tonight in fact let's do this this is going to be a little unorthodox a little bit different all together so go ahead and be seated me and my monotone voice i don't want to read this whole chapter it'll put you to sleep you're tired some of you've done three services today brother steph's been down in cleveland preaching we sent a team to cleveland we've sent a team to several they've been everywhere today and so uh brother skinner if you keep playing that organ and i keep talking they might go to sleep so first samuel chapter 28 verse number three very very very odd passage of scripture and i've never preached this story in all of my life i'm sure somebody has i'm sure somebody's seen some things in it that i haven't but i i was taken to this story yesterday and began to study this very unfamiliar story that stuck out to me and my topic tonight is this we're in october so why not the topic will be ghost stories ghost stories don't leave all right i'm not going to cross any lines i am going to preach about the holy ghost so that is the kicker all right ghost stories first samuel 28-3 now samuel was dead and all israel lamented him and buried him in rhema even in his own city and saul had put away those that had familiar spirits and the wizards of the land and the philistines gathered themselves together and came and pitched and shooed them and saul gathered all israel together and they pitched in gilboa this is interesting how they start this starts this passage because they're telling us something that we already know we already know samuel is dead but for some reason they reiter they he the writer reiterates this because they told us just a few chapters earlier they tell about samuel's death but they bring this back up for this particular purpose because verse number five says and when saul saw the host of philistines he was scared he was afraid and his heart greatly trembled and we see this that uh saul we already kind of see the condition of saul here for he was afraid and his heart was greatly trembled and when saul inquired inquired of the lord the lord answered him not neither by dreams nor by europe or by prophets so we have this odd story here and you have to look at the whole story because samuel is not only dead but if you rewind back to chapter seven and verse number three samuel's dead but he's dead in the sense that he's already told saul what to do when this happens but samuel had the favor of god he saw that this was going to play out and sam first samuel 7 3 says samuel spake unto the house of israel saying if you do return unto the lord with all your hearts and put away the strange gods of asteroth from among you and prepare your heart unto the lord and serve him only he'll deliver you from the hand of the philistines so he tells them what to do samuel dies and we find ourselves here where saul is trying to get a hold of god and and samuel has already told you what to do uh but this this odd story here starts to play out saul is seeking the lord because he has no connection he has no favor he has no way of communicating with god he prays to god god's not hearing him so let's get real about the character of saul saul left god long before god left him okay we see that in the character but the law of moses condemns these forms of spirits and saul we see here in our first part of the book he says that our opening text saul puts away the familiar spirits and the wizards of the land so saul obeys the law of moses that condemns spirits and saul's ban them so he's done the right thing here but here comes the philistine army about to destroy him and saul has no connection with god his fear it tells us his spiritual condition all together and verse number seven then said solomon to his servants seek me a woman that hath the familiar spirit that i may go to her and inquire of her and his servant said to him behold there is a woman who has a familiar spirit at endor and saul disguised himself and put on other raiment and he went and two men went with him and they came to a woman by night and said i pray thee divine unto me unto me by the familiar spirit and spirit and bring me him up whom shall i name unto thee okay so this starts playing out he has no connection with god so saul the scripture tells us he travels 10 miles through enemy territory to go get a witch at indoor to call for him the ghost of samuel that's why they remind us the beginning of the text the samuel is dead saul goes by night not only to conceal his movements but that was the usual time for seances to be performed he takes off his kingly road to go back to get what he had got rid of just a few verses earlier he puts he actually does something right the law of moses says you don't have anything to do with those things you don't have anything to do with the witches and the wizards and all these these things of unfamiliar spirits he says you got to put those things away but fear comes upon saul he can't get in touch with god so he goes back and he gets what he just put away see this with me verse 9 and the woman said unto him the witch says in him behold thou knowest what saul hath done and uh i'm sorry let's go let's go back up i think i i skipped down there let's go verse nine yeah we're right behold thou knowest what saul hath done how he hath cut off those that have familiar spirits and the wizards out of the land wherefore then layest thou a snare for my life to cause me to die and saul swear unto her so even the witch feels like she's being set up the saul swears under the heart and then uses by the lord saying as the lord liveth so saul is using the lord's name and he don't even have a connection with him there shall be no punishment or happened to thee for this thing trust me i'm coming to you i know i threw all of you out but i've come to you for help because the philistines are about to kill me and everybody so she feels like this is a setup because didn't you just a few few verses earlier it sounds just like the world right i thought you were serving god i thought you got rid of me i thought you deleted my number i thought you were a christian but saul goes right back to the first few verses he says hey i need your help i need you to call up somebody who has a connection with god i'm already preaching i don't know if you realize it or not but saul he swears to her he says i'm telling you the lord liveth say unto the woman who shall i bring up unto thee and he said bring up samuel and when the woman saw samuel she cries out with a loud voice this gets real interesting and the one the woman spake to saul saying what why hast thou deceived me for thou art saul she was shocked because she didn't do it see this with me it's a fun little story i told you we got fun tonight right she's shocked what in the world i didn't expect samuel to come up god allowed saul to experience the ghost of samuel she didn't expect to see samuel she cries out with a loud voice she is shocked she understands now but samuel gives a message to saul and the king said unto her be not afraid for what saw us thou and the woman said unto saul i saw god's ascending out of the earth and he said unto her from for what form is he of and she said an old man cometh up and he is covered with a mantle and saul perceived that it was samuel and he stopped with his face to the ground and bowed himself and samuel said unto saul why hast thou disquieted me to bring me up and saul answered i am so sore distressed for the philistines make war against me and i'm sure samuel's thinking hey would could you just rewind back and listen to what i told you if you get your heart right with god he'll take care of the philistines but you've awakened me up out of asleep and this is just super interesting to me i'm so distressed the philistines make war and i'm scared god's departed from me he won't answer me neither the prophets nor dreams i i'm calling and nobody's picking up all right i can't get ahold of god and then said samuel wherefore then thus thou ask of me seeing the lord is departed from me and is become thine enemy and the lord had done unto him and it spake by him and the lord hath to rent the kingdom out of thy hand and given it to thy neighbor even to david because thou obeyest not the voice of the lord nor executed his fierce wrath upon amalek therefore hath the lord done these things to thee this day moreover the lord will also deliver israel with thee and to the hand of the philistines and tomorrow shalt thou shalt thou and thy sons be with the lord also shall deliver the the host of israel and to the la the hand of the philistines then saul fell straightway along on the earth for he was so afraid because the words of samuel and there was no strength in him for he had eaten no bread all day nor all night odd passage here so saul goes to a witch he goes to call for the ghost of samuel too many people in life nowadays are wanting life solutions from dead things the bottom line to the story of saul because he dies just a few scriptures later as he was unprepared to lead he was unprepared to fight and he was unprepared to die all because of his relationship with god when we don't embrace our god connection we automatically look to connect ourselves to something else to accomplish what we need because saul we see even in this state standing there with his life before his eyes for the cave he wasn't seeking a relationship with god he was seeking a victory he goes 10 miles under cover out of his way through enemy territory to wake up samuel from the dead through a witch that he had kicked out of the city he went through all of this turmoil and all of this process to wake up somebody to tell him hey something that he'd already been told too many people are looking for good results without going through god it's not going to happen you say well this ain't very fun i thought you said this would be fun but we we we we could get up here and we could literally preach the same thing every single week over and over and over the bottom line is is we cannot live life alone we cannot live life to its fullest without the presence of god when we do not embrace our god connection we automatically default to trying to do things our own way and allowing other spirits to come into our life opening up ourselves to things that we once cast out so i can't get in touch with god i'm going to go back to the way i used to do things i can't get the feeling that i need from god so i'm going to go back to drugs i can't get the high that i once got from god so i'm going to go back to these things my marriage is falling apart this is happening that's happening the enemy has come in like a flood and i can't get god to raise up a standard so i'm going to try something else leviticus 19 and 31 says regard not them that have familiar spirits neither seek after wizards to be defiled by them i am the lord your god this was a part of the law because we understand that even from the old testament law to the new testament pouring out and living in the dispensation of grace we need the presence of god in our lives we must have we must have from the beginning of time to right now as we stand presence right here in the world that we live in understand that there is a battle of spiritual warfare that's why the scripture makes so much emphasis on our world right now our current event scripture is finally my brother and be strong with the lord and in the power of his might put on the whole armor of god that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil but we wrestle not against flesh and blood but against principalities against powers against rulers of darkness of this world against spiritual wickedness in high places it's a spiritual battle and there's a ghost looking to haunt your heart there's a story that's wanting to be played out and both sides god has given us a spirit through the outpouring of the holy ghost that it is all too familiar with us in this church being pentecostals but there's also a spirit that's lurking to destroy you god writes in his word this perfect plan the perfect will for us but we choose to do it our own way so many times like saul did is it too simple conversation i had this week is it too simple to just make sure we have the holy ghost every day i'm fearful that we've become addicted to good preaching and good singing and good church and we've forgotten what it means to just simply walk in the spirit that every single day i've got to have the spirit of god leading and guiding me it doesn't matter if i'm carrying lumber if i'm giving shots if i'm taking if i've given out tests if i'm if i'm changing diapers doesn't matter what you do for a living it doesn't matter you've got to have the presence of god in your life you've got to have the spirit of god in your life you've got to have discernment you've got to somebody you got to have that spirit that tells you you ought not to when to speak when to listen [Applause] we've got to have the presence of god and we've got to consider we've got to understand that there is a spiritual battle going on i don't understand why it seems so weird and spooky what pentecost and apostolics are christians for that matter to the outside looking in there's an enemy that is lined up on the mountain that is ready to take this church right now the philistines if you could see it just like saul they've lined up now year in and year out trying to divide we understand families that there is a spirit that is attacking us each and every day we've dealt with it just the past few weeks with young people and situations there's a spirit of perversion like never before that is attacking our families and i'm here to warn you tonight that we cannot continue to turn on things and let spirits in and uh and plug in different devices and show different shows in our home that promotes rebellion and perversion and adultery and spiritual wickedness we're in a battle father you're in a battle spiritually mother you're in a battle spiritually you've got to close that off don't go to the world's witch the spirit of fear and anxiety is striking hearts all over the world and the last place we seem to be looking is god it's just too much of a life change it's too extreme it's too spiritual and it blows my mind that when we get on our face and we weep before god it seems too extreme so many opportunities week in and week out we had pre-service prayer tonight and for some reason before service you look out over a crowd and there's a hundred plus people that see no need to pray let's just be real it's a spiritual battle and if you can sit in this room and be comfortable in your flesh why people are praying in an altar god forbid me look at the adversary and it's opportunity to take you outside of these four walls let's be honest tonight if we can't pray in this house if we can't get in the spirit in this house young person [Applause] there's a spirit on both sides what blows my mind is it seems so difficult to come up here and get broken before god and to pray till you prayed in the holy ghost but you go home and turmoil and trials and anxiety and fear and you find yourself in a room or a pillow full of tears and you're crying on your own because you see there's both sides to the coin but there's both sides we see this in this story there is a spiritual battle going on there is this this this struggle between us trying to serve god and serve this world he said yeah it's pretty simple right let's just paint the picture for you tonight we're we're odd for dressing a certain way but the world can't figure out what gender it wants to be what did saul have to do to go get his own ghost he'd take off his kingly garment he had to put on something that would make him fit in why because both spirits have a dress code the world wants you to dress a certain way the problem is is that spirit is much more pleasing to your flesh the minute you walk into that world the minute you step down that path and you're going to go toward indoor that's a 10 mile journey not just through enemy territory but you're going to put on their garments so why does it seem so odd that we begin to serve a god who died for us who wants to give us the holy ghost and he says hey if you're going to have this spirit you've got to dress a certain way you've got to look a certain way you got to associate yourself with me both spirits have a dress code [Applause] it's just easier my lord help me tonight why is let's just talk about why is pastoral submission so odd why is that so spiritual but we'll flip through the news and whatever the politics say whatever the news channel says whatever they tell us to do we're just going to do it why both spirits you submit to you can submit to the world's spirit the witches and the principalities and powers of the air it's a it's a fighting factor it's a struggle it's a spiritual battle it's not flesh and blood let's see here that there's so many things that play into this it's just easier to the flesh you know witches have uncut hair to perform seances why they have a dress code too you know why saul was hungry because he had the fast going into the seance why because they use our principles they use our practices because you're going to call up some spirits if you're going to call up something from the dead you've got to kill the flesh you've got to put something under subjection it's the same principles and so what i don't get is why it seems so odd and people say hey why do you do this why do you do why do you submit to a pastor why do you go to church three times a week answer me this why do you go to the gym five or six times a week for your physical body but you think it's odd for your spiritual body to only get three times a week but we'll stand at the gym and take selfies and do this and do that and oh i can't go a day without working out but you sure have went months without speaking in the holy ghost the presence of god is essential if you're going to win the battle of life please see it with me tonight i i don't mean to be so straightforward and i could go on and on and on and on all night but there's a spiritual battle and there's a cost on both sides why not pay the cost of what is going to give you an eternal reward here's how paul says it galatians 3 and 1 oh foolish galatians who has bewitched you that's the way paul puts it he says that you should not obey the truth before those eyes jesus christ had been evidently set forth crucified among you this only would i learn of you receive you the spirit by the works of the law or by hearing of faith are you so foolish having began in the spirit that you're now made perfect by the flesh paul's talking to the church oh foolish galatians what spirit has caused you to think that you can now be perfect in your flesh many people live today sad to say but on pews that have been fooled back into their flesh maybe you haven't seen it in a while maybe you haven't felt it in a while and the ghost story of your life is that holy ghost that haunts you because you haven't felt it like you first felt it that for that time when you came out of the water and this is happening and that's happening and we come in here and we we it just seems like such a struggle it's so much effort it's so much work to pray till we pray in the spirit and it seems so spooky what i'm here to tell you the rapture is really going to freak you out we've got to get in the spirit we've got to pray until we have evidence we i'm supposed to be a house for the holy ghost not haunted by the holy ghost are you bewitched by the world have you been have you if you've been uh ignorant to your flesh because i i've come to look at the story of saul and say that there's something dead maybe you once put away but now you're seeking a solution in enemy territory because you've lost your connection with god what is it that's taking your time what is it that's taking your talent what is this taking your treasure we see here that we can we can look at our lives paul said are you so foolish that you have lost your faith that you can now be made perfect in the flesh we get so busy in our modern day america we've clocked in and we've clocked out and we've become even that ritualistic in church where we just clock in and we clock out we've got to get in the spirit if we're going to win the battle there's many many times in fact i i know this is maybe an odd title an odd way to look at these things but if you anybody ever heard somebody try to you know you watch one of those goofy documentary documentaries whatever they're called and somebody starts telling about what i saw i was taking a picture by the stumbo and the flash and all of a sudden i got this image and they start telling these stories and i'm always the first one that says hey i'm out first of all it probably ain't nothing you probably had your finger over the lens but either way i'm out all right now we got we got married in charleston charleston is known for those ghost tours on those wagons in the middle of the night it's like hey that's fine i'm just going to stare at the sky and act like this guy's not talking all right so-and-so killed somebody's been haunting them for 50 you know it's just like the ghost story is one of those things where it's so powerful and it's so interesting to hear some people are so stinking convinced and it's so interesting to me brother brian that god refers to himself as a ghost because i'm not going to believe your story but i tell you this if you ever experience it because it's nothing like listening to a ghost story from that guy it's whipping that horse going down through there and he's it's like in living color for him he's told the story a million times but he literally believes every aspect of that story because i once saw now he may tell a few stories that so and so saw this and they witnessed this back in 19 whatever and this but there was one time i was and you want to get down to details they will start telling a story from experience and it will take you all the way down the street because when you have an experience with a ghost nobody else may believe it but you have it you have that experience you saw something and only those who experience it believe it i saw it i felt it i heard it takes me to hebrews chapter 11 and i want to point something out to you now faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen and if you're doing the scriptures tonight there's no way you'll follow this i'm just going to fly through this for by it the elders obtained of good report through faith we understand that the worlds were formed by the word of god so that the things that were seen were not made of things which do appear by faith abel offered up unto god a more excellent sacrifice something cain by faith enoch was translated by faith it is impossible to please him for we cometh to god we must believe that he is and he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him by faith noah was warned of god and the things not seen yet by faith abraham he was called to go out into a place which was uh should after receive for an inheritance obeyed for he went out not knowing whether he went through faith also sarah received strength and conceived seed and was delivered of a child when she was past age by faith abraham was tried and offered up isaac by faith isaac blessed jacob and esau concerning things to come by faith jacob he was dying but he blessed both of his sons joseph and worshiped and leaning upon the top of his staff by faith joseph when he died made mention of the departing of the children of israel and gave a commandment concerning his bones by faith moses when he was come of years refused to be called the son of pharaoh's daughter by faith the walls of jericho fell down after they were compassed about seven days by faith the harlot rehab perished and with them that believed not and she had received the spies with peace and shall i say more for the time shall fail me to tell of gideon and barack and of samson and jephthah and david also and samuel and of the prophets who through faith subdued kingdoms wrought righteousness obtained promises stopped the mouths of lions quits the violence of fire escape the edge of the sword out of the weakness from made strong waxed violent in faith and turned into flight the armies of aliens say why in the world to just read all that first of all i didn't have time to read it normally but all of this they did through the power of god they did it by faith the evidence of the unseen if you could see it with me tonight they all had their ghost stories how did all this happen in hebrews 11. he says by faith abraham by faith noah by faith by faith by faith and he gives you the definition that we use for faith they hoped for the things unseen but we are in a much different situation but in a very good way we can call it what it is it's not a pillar of cloud it's not a gold-plated ark in the book of acts we call it the holy ghost it's a story it's a ghost story that out of the darkness into this marvelous light it is a sound it has feeling it has evidence but most of all we shall receive power the scripture says after that the holy ghost has come upon you so i want you to understand this revelation you have power so that's simple yeah no you have power more than hebrews 11. why he said that it makes sense well they had the same god yeah they had the same god but you have that god inside of you it's not a pillar of cloud and a pillar of fire it's not some ark that we've got to go you have the god that performed for abraham isaac and jacob inside of you it if it had worked as a pillar if it had worked as an ark he would have never came if it would have worked walking with the disciples he would have never died but he saw fit and said hey it's enough of the pillar it's enough for the fire it's enough of the ark and for some reason they keep getting deceived they keep rejecting me they keep denying me but i'm gonna go to a cross and i'm gonna get in a tomb and i'm gonna get resurrection power and i'm gonna come on the day of pentecost and i'm gonna pour out the holy ghost you've got a story beyond hebrews 11. you've got a story young person it's more powerful because it's living inside of me i hope you can understand what the holy ghost is i've got to have this power i've got to have this connection and i'm thankful for repentance i'm thankful for the blood and it's essential i'm thankful for the washing of water and the power of the name and baptism for the remission of sins and it's essential but all of that comes down to one purpose and that is for you to be filled with the baptism of the holy ghost why because you must have a ghost story you must have a experience with god you've got to have an experience i can't stress to you enough tonight how long let's just be honest for a moment how long's it been that you've been in his presence you're going through something right now maybe the philistines are looking you eye to eye maybe the devil has come into your life is knocking on your door it's threatening you it's threatening your family threatening every situation maybe it's your finances maybe it's your health maybe it's your marriage whatever it is you must have a connection with god i challenge you young person don't reach to the university for your solution don't reach and and i i don't mean this bad i know we've got bankers and loan offers and everything going wrong with going to the bank but don't go to the bank if you're not paying tithes why would i keep going to the witch when there's a connection with god why do i keep trying to do things first say sam has already told us the solution get your heart right with god i've got anxiety i've got fear i've got trouble on every side nothing seems to be going right what does your life look like without the holy ghost i can't stress to you enough that tonight i don't know i've just been pushed and urged this way all night and all morning all day that it would be god's will whether we realize it or not or everybody wants to participate or not that by before you leave here whether it's the first time or whether it's the hundredth time that you speak in another tongue as the spirit gives utterance why because that's the evidence that you can fight any battle that's the evidence that you can make it through any trial that's the evidence that god has given you to make it through another day you shouldn't leave here with any lack of faith or any lack of confidence he says in acts chapter 2 this is that that was spoken by the prophet joel the prophets talked about it those that had to had to go about it a different way and another dispensation they all were looking toward and everybody was just seeing that there's going to be this pouring out there's going to be this power that comes there's going to be this holy ghost he says this is that they're not drunk they're not crazy don't let the devil lie you into thinking that this is foolishness because if you're not reaching for the holy ghost there's another spirit you're going to give away to he said this speaking in tongues is that the pouring out of god's spirit no one received the holy ghost in the bible without speaking in tongues all throughout the book of acts 2 8 10 19 on and on and on and paul writes to the church and deals with self-righteousness unrighteousness carnality all the things that we deal with as the church all the things that threaten us the spiritual wickedness that comes against us offense all these things he's dealing with all of them and he keeps coming back to one thing you've got to have the holy ghost you've got to have the holy ghost you've got to have the power to do what i'm telling you to do you can have the 10 commandments but you're going to keep breaking the law why did i come to give you power to do what i've told you to do i struggle reading the bible i struggle obeying the word of god yes because you don't have enough of the holy ghost to do it you've got to pray until you prayed in the holy ghost that god would speak god i can't keep looking at that god i can't keep going there god i can't keep turning my back on god i can't keep having fear and anxiety and depression i've got to have the holy ghost you can't do it without the holy ghost paul writes the church after church after church first corinthians 12 3 wherefore i have given you the understanding that no man speaketh by the spirit of god calleth jesus a curse that no man can say jesus is the lord but by the holy ghost you can't call him lord unless you've got the holy ghost the holy ghost is what's going to enable you look at paul keeps writing to him romans 15 and 13. now the god of hope will fill you with all joy and peace and believing that ye may abound in hope through the power of the holy ghost see i didn't know my solution was so simple i feel good for a few hours on sunday night i feel good through most of the day monday but then tuesday comes or monday night things start happening yeah you need to get back down on your knee and pray till you pray in the holy ghost it's the simplest revelation you'll take out of this book and ultimately everybody from genesis all the way to the book uh all the way through the gospels it's pointing to one thing you need the holy ghost you've got to have the holy ghost the book of acts pours it out the church gets it and then paul who writes almost all of the epistles says hey you need to stop doing this but sister you ain't going to stop doing it until you get the holy ghost you want divorce rates to go down the holy ghost you want drug addiction to go down the holy ghost you want things to stop drop [Music] come on hear me tonight we need the holy ghost how long's it been since you've experienced your own story the holy ghost is a comforter first thessalonians 1 5 for the gospel came unto unto you in the word only but also in power and in the holy ghost and in much assurance that you know what manner of men we were among you for your sake in other words you got the holy ghost you know who to hang out with what what does it not solve nothing it literally is the key he goes through everything he takes on a crown of thorns he lets them beat him to shreds he dies it is finished he's bare he goes through all that to give you his spirit to give you something that abraham didn't have it's a comforter it'll tell you who to hang out with it'll tell you what manner of men you're around romans 8 and verse number 9 but you're not are the flesh but in the spirit if so be that the spirit of god dwell in you now if any man be if any if any man have not the spirit of christ he is none of his and if christ be in you the body is dead because of sin but the spirit is life because of righteousness but if the spirit of him that raised up jesus from the dead dwell in you he that raised up christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by the spirit that dwelleth in you i'm not very i'm not very much into racing i know i know brother weatherly i think he's out of town today but he's a big nascar fan i'm just i'm sorry i don't know nobody leave nobody plug your ears but i just can't get into it it's like another left turn another left turn another left turn they took a pit stop and then came back out somehow we're back in another like how does that work how do you stop and then get back in line like i'm just so confused why does it take so long right but i i've been to dragged to some of these things before and i love that part where it's like gentlemen start your engines and i've always thought of this passage like that you know the scripture says and paul is actually the one who refers to it he says that the gift of the holy ghost is just your down payment it's the first fruits he says that same spirit that you receive and you begin to speak with other tongues as the evidence that's the down payment in other words you're going to be blown away at what's up there waiting on you you can experience his ghosts right now but wait till you see him face to face but but there there's there's this revelation that comes that you gotta understand it's it's almost like hey could we just tune up our engine a little bit because you can't be in you could be sitting in the church you could be in christ but you're not noah in the boat you caught you're living in the dispensation of grace you got to have the holy ghost it's going to be the holy ghost inside of you that picks you up so i don't know about you considering all the things in the news i would want to make sure that the thing that's going to pick me up out of here is current and up to speed so what we ought to be doing every sunday when we come in here is praying in a way to say hey i'm just going i'm just going to make sure that the engine that's going to take me up out of this place that's going to quicken this mortal body i'm going to make sure it's good and tuned up and everything's good with my soul that i have evidence right now that if god came back i wonder if you just lift your hands where you're at right now and just pray if you've got the holy ghost i wanted you to speak in tongues right now come on i feel the presence of god come on that's it oh i think we could be a little bit louder in this room oh that's the spirit that's going to quicken our mortal bodies that's the spirit that's going to raise us oh that's it i feel the holy ghost in this room i don't want to take any chances maybe you could sleep at night and feel okay with your condition maybe you can go months without speaking in tongues maybe you can go go much without knowing it's like this is that time of the year where it gets cold you got to plug up the diesel engines you got to start up the car early got to let it get warmed up if we're not careful we'll go into a season of life and we hadn't started this engine in so long and we go out and we realize hey this thing needs a tune-up i can't do it without the holy ghost i can't make it without the holy ghost jump down to verse number 26 same chapter verse number eight likewise the spirit also helpeth our infirmities are you sick in this place the best thing you can do pray in the holy ghost it's the most emphasized thing yes we can call for the elders we can do it if you pray in the holy ghost watch what happens for we know not what we should pray for as we ought but the spirit itself make an intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered and he that searcheth the things knoweth what is in the mind of the spirit because he maketh the intercession for the saints according to the will of god and we know that all things work together for the good we use that scripture a lot but if you look at the previous scriptures it'll help you pray when you don't know what to pray let me tell somebody in this house tonight [Applause] there's things in your life right now you don't know what to say to it but i tell you what i am going to do i ain't going to go to a witch at endor and try to figure it out i've got a son i don't think he's in here right now i've got his son's five years old we just had a checkup for kindergarten he's had a heart murmur since he was born and the doctor said hey we're going to need to do an echo it seems to be a little bit louder than it ought to be so a week from friday he's going to go and have some tests done i don't understand that i don't know what to pray but tonight i sit down there and i reach down and put my hand over his heart and i don't know what to say but i know what the spirit wants to say and if i'm going to pray we know that all things work together for the good of them who love him that are called according if i'm going to pray that prayer then brother reggie i better be willing to get down and begin to speak in another tongue over my son and know if you got cancer tonight you know the best thing you do is lift your hands up and begin to speak in the name i don't know why you got it i don't know why it's here i don't know why sin has done what it's done i don't know why your marriage is doing but i'll tell you if you're praying the holy ghost there's a spirit that'll interest it'll intercede on your behalf come on god knows what you need right now almighty god [Applause] come on there ought to be a desperation there ought to be a hunger in this place right now come on i'm not quite done but if you want to step out of your seat i'm telling you there's healing in this room right now not by my prayers but there's a spirit that wants to intercede on your behalf [Applause] come on some of you young people you've gotten bitter there's a college student here that's got offended you need to pray in the holy ghost stand up here all night say it's real it's real i know it's real it's a pentecostal experience and i know i know it's real but the ghost story is going to seem so real to me you're not going to believe it till you see it you're not going to believe it till you feel it hey come on come on jude said but me beloved building up yourselves on your most holy faith praying in the holy ghost praying in the holy ghost stop fighting the same fight stop dealing with the same old army come on it's not by works of righteousness you can do this you can do that it's not by the works of righteousness which you have done but according to his mercy he saved us by the washing and of regeneration and renewing of the holy ghost i pray that every person in this place is renewed in the holy ghost tonight come on walk in the spirit right now come on walk in the spirit young person come on lay hands on somebody next to you [Applause] come on check the engine tonight come on check the engine [Applause] oh i know there's some people that are slowly making their way around the front trust me you can give into this spirit or you can open yourself up to another one but i'm telling you the holy ghost is oh i wish nobody'd be looking around right now i wish you'd either be seeking the holy ghost or speaking in it right now come on you need your own story you need your own experience right now its doctrines it was not the preaching of the apostles that brought down the power from on high it was men full of the holy ghost that spent the rest of their lives telling a ghost story the apostolic doctrine is simply just that a ghost story have you seen what i've seen have you felt what i felt the world and its ways and its spirits can't do for you what the holy ghost can do the right doctrine will always follow the right experience you doing what we did in this place tonight you'll never get offended because you'll love the truth the holy ghost inside of you that fire is burning and it's giving you revelation to see this with the right eyes nobody that is experiencing the holy ghost on a daily basis is going to fall into some false doctrine nobody experiencing the holy ghost on a daily basis is going to backslide you say it seems to be the solution of everything it is i challenge you i challenge you once you have your own story it would be fueled to tell it i believe that there is a revival that needs to happen and it needs to be from the grassroots i love that people are moving to maryville tennessee i love that smith and wesson's coming to town that's great i love that people are coming from california and all over the place it's a great place to live but there's people living here that need to hear your story there's people working with you that need to hear your experience one last prayer i wish you'd lift your hands to heaven before we're dismissed and we just accept the challenge god i want to share my story come on lift your hands and just say that god i pray that you'd open a door this week god i pray that you put somebody in my in my path this week that i could share my story of your glory in my life oh god come on pray that god help us god we want to see revival god i pray that there's a soul that's here next week god that's been invited by somebody that's in this room god is somebody that's been stirred because they heard god the powerful redemption story of how you brought us out of darkness into this marvelous light god i'm so thankful for your spirit god i'm so thankful for the holy ghost i'm thankful that it comforts me i'm thankful that it gives me hope i'm thankful that it's going to call me out of here and i'm comforting god not just your people but myself with these words tonight god you're so good to us and we
