[Music] hello everyone and happy halloween from the one-stop co-op shop today in light of it being halloween we thought we would do a playthrough of ghost stories this is an older game i actually don't even remember when it's from i think it's like 2011 something like that uh it's one of the first really challenging co-ops i remember when i first got this it was supposed to be one of the hardest co-ops nowadays i think it's still considered that i will very likely not win this game especially because i haven't pulled this out in a year or two but i really wanted to get this to the table again and i thought halloween is a great time to do it so what we're gonna do today is a four player playthrough i'm gonna be playing all four characters i know you can play solo but i find i get the most enjoyment out of playing all four monks because you get a little more of the special abilities around the table so that's how we're going to play we're going to play on the normal mode and we'll just jump into setup real quick and then start the playthrough so as you can see here for setup and i should mention that i'm only playing with the base game i don't have any of the expansions i've heard that they're good but i don't think they're needed if i only play this once in a while if i played this all the time i think that i would probably want the expansions but i don't need for this base game is good enough so each one of these tiles are village tiles you're going to randomly shuffle them up and set them on the board in a 3x3 and then you're going to set up your player boards out on the sides now if you're if you want to play solo only you'll just choose one monk to play with but you always need to have these player boards on all four sides regardless because that's where the ghosts will spawn and then as they spawn there you can fight them in adjacent locations the buddhist temple is the only one that actually has characters these buddha characters that you need to place here all the other ones we'll go through what they do as we go through the play through since i'm playing on normal mode each player will get three qi tokens and if ever you have all three of your cheat tokens removed then that character dies you can potentially save them or resurrect them at the graveyard tile here usually not recommended each character will grab a tau token that's matching their color so our blue monk will have a blue tau token and a blue yin yang token this yin yang token can be used once per game and it can be used to either unhaunt us any tile on the board or to use the ability of any villager anywhere on the board and that's in addition to what you would normally get to do on your turn also the monks start off right in the center of the board and then each monk themselves have a special ability now each of these boards are dual sided so i've randomly chosen them we'll go through each one quickly to know what their special ability is the red monk has the dance of the peaks the red taoist has the ability to fly during this movie can reach any village tile not only adjacent ones so normally you can only move to an adjacent tile adjacent does include diagonal but since he can move two he can literally go anywhere on the map the green taoist has the strength of the mountain he may roll a fourth tau die when performing an exorcism in addition he never rolls the cursed eye totally awesome the yellow taoist has bottomless pockets this means before their move they may take a towel token from any color among the available in the supply basically can make it easier to exercise those ghosts and finally we have the blue taoist the blue taoist has heavenly gust he may request the villagers help and attempt an exorcism in the same turn in any order normally you can do one or the other he can do both the final part of setup is to set up the ghost deck we have 45 here i'm going to count 10 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10. and then i'm going to grab one of the wu fang incarnations shuffle them up i have no idea which one it's going to be place it there then i'll take the rest of the ghost cards pop them on top and our goal in this game is to survive until the incarnation of wufang shows up then we have to defeat that incarnation of wufang before this deck runs out so we'll essentially have 10 turns after he shows up if this deck runs out we lose and if every monk is defeated we lose the third way that we can lose is if a third tile that's in the village area is haunted so when they get haunted we will flip them like so and if three of them are face up like that we lose the game so with that we are ready to start the game so the first thing you need to do on your turn we're going to start with the blue taoist as we have to activate any of the ghosts that are on our board right now we don't have any then we need to check if we have an overrun if our board is completely full of ghosts instead of drawing a new ghost we would lose one chi if we lose those three qi we are defeated we place our character down on its side step 3 will be the arrival of a new ghost so let's flip over our new ghost and we have a creeping one now because this is a green ghost this is going to go onto the green ghost board even though currently it is the blue taoist turn now we have a couple of options here we could place this creeping one in any of these three locations on here this is what we call a haunting ghost so we're gonna place a figure here and let's say we place him here we put the figure here each time the green player has he's going to take one step forward if he moves to this spot he will go ahead and haunt this tile and then start back over here and then if he gets back to here and this tile's already haunted he haunts the next tile in this specific row there is a little bit of strategy on where you want to place your ghost because if i place a ghost here i could move to this tile and let's say there was a ghost over here i could try and exercise both ghosts with one action so the advantage of putting one in the corner means i could try and take out that ghost and take out another ghost potentially in the future however since our blue taoist is the one to go first i'm going to go ahead and place this creeping one here on the center spot of the board and you're going to see why in a second then i'm going to place this figure here and he's going to try and go towards the village and haunt this tile our next step in our turn is we can move we can only move one space unless we're the red taoist so our blue monk our taoist will go ahead and move over here to the herbalist shop now normally after doing that you can do one action either ask the villager for help and get this ability or try and exercise the ghost that's in that location and when i say at that location i mean adjacent to that location so we can actually try and exercise them since we're playing no with the blue taoist the blue taoist can do both and we can do them in any order so i'm going to go ahead and activate the herbalist first and then i'm going to go ahead and try and attack the the creeping one so this herbalist what he lets us do which is totally awesome we get to roll two of these white dice and whatever color shows up we gain those tokens from the supply that we can use in future turns we also if we get a white that's considered wild so we can choose any color of our choice remember that we already have a blue token as well so let's see what else we get we get a black and a yellow nice so we're going to have three tokens now next we're going to try and exercise that ghost in order to do that we get to roll three white dice and we can see if we can defeat him after we roll our dice if we want and we can we can use any of these taoist tokens to help us defeat him so this would be considered one yellow the thing is i didn't get any green so i'm just looking for one white or one green here and i get a white and a green sweet so i have enough i will simply defeat him he'll be placed in hit the discard pile or i i've exercised him however you want to say it and we are set to go that was the blue taoist turn now let's go to the yellow taoist one ghost down a heck of a lot more to go we'll draw our next one oh this one's a green one and look at that's a wicked one we need three green tokens to defeat him apparently all the green ghosts are showing up today and this one also only haunts so we'll place this here each time it's the green player's turn which of course it is next he'll take one step forward i'm putting him in the middle because if i'm going to try and defeat him i'm going to have to probably focus completely on him not on another ghost i'm hoping to put weaker ones on the other two corners with that being said our yellow taoist will now use his special ability and he'll gain one green taoist token for free from the supply that's his special ability our yellow taoist will now move and he'll move to the circle of prayer here what we can do is place a token and we're of course going to use the villager because there's nothing for us to attack so we're not going to try and exercise a ghost we're just going to try and have this villager help us what we can do is place a token a token from the supply here now all ghosts of that color get minus one to their resistance so that wicked one that normally needs three green will now only need two while this is active and we can at later turns switch that if we'd like our green taoist is next to go oh we've got a red one look at that that's a raging one so whenever it's activated we have to roll the curse die that cursed eye is terrible it does really bad things but when we defeat it we can either get one chi back or get our yang yang back now you're going to see with this raging one which i think i'm going to place here there is no haunting ghost that we need to place there so this one instead of it moving forward it's actually just going to affect us by rolling this cursed eye which by the way is absolutely terrible so we're gonna have to try and get rid of that asap and of course in my utter excitement i forgot to first activate any ghosts that are on the tile of the green taoist board we needed to move this haunter one space forward there we go so now that we've placed our ghost i think our green taoist is going to move to this same tile as our blue taoist and i think what we're going to do is we're going to try and attack this green ghost because remember we get to roll four dice instead of three when we try and exercise and just so you know if ever you're on the same tile as another one of the taoist monks you can ask that taoist monk after you roll to say hey can i use one of your taoist tokens now the blue one the blue taoist does not have any green tokens so it's not helpful but just so you know and also don't forget we only need two here and he does have one already in his supply let's give it a go we're looking hopefully for two green and we got absolutely no green so i am not going to do anything that's a terrible roll and with that we're going to move to the red taoist turn this raging one has in the center area that means every time that that board is activated we have to do this over here is your benefit if you defeat it and over here is the one time ability that happens when it gets placed on the board you haven't seen any of those yet so let's go ahead and roll the die oh my gosh it's blank i forgot that there's blank sides on this okay there's two blank sides and i love the blank sides of this die so thank you very much raging one you did nothing however we are far from done we have to flip our next one oh it's black we have the dark wraith this one has three different abilities this one happens immediately he is going to hunt and since it's black and we have no black boards whoever draws this one you have to place this on their active board so the symbol over here means that when this kind of ghost appears this dark wraith you have to place the haunting figure directly on the haunting icon of the board in front of the ghost card then it acts as normal and then you can see over here we get a chi or we get a yin yang when we defeat him i think we're going to go ahead and place him over here and that means this haunter will start here and then move forward right here our red taoist then for his move action is going to move here and he's going to activate this site this is our buddhist temple what you can do is grab one of these buddha tokens you're going to place it in your supply and at the beginning of your next turn you can place that anywhere out on one of these spots that has a buddha symbol so any of them don't have a ghost out there if you place any ghost on that spot and immediately pops that ghost that ghost is immediately exercised you don't have any of the bad initial effects but you also don't get any of the benefits after so it's a kind of give or take we don't get to place that until next turn so i'll just place it in our supply and that will end our turn our blue and our yellow taoist have no ghosts in front of them so we get a little bit of a reprieve so we're moving to the blue taoist turn we'll flip ah seriously we get the black widow that's just mean you can see here the black widow has an immediate effect while the black widow is on the board we cannot use any of our tau tokens which is just brutal so uh yeah i'm gonna have to place her on my board and we need two blacks to get rid of her it appears i waited too long to get a buddha i should have gotten these before bummer i am really hurt myself so you're gonna grab this place this just on the board to remind yourself hey you can't use tau tokens even though i can't use the tau tokens i can still collect them so i think i'm going to stay here with the herbalist and i'm going to activate this village tile and i'm going to try and attack this uh this wicked one because there is a chance i could still get two green that's all i need to defeat him and getting more taoist tokens is never a bad thing we'll roll our two dice to get our tokens we get a blue and a green so cool we got so many tokens okay come on i need two greens or a green and a white this is risky no i've got a white and a blue bummer our yellow taoist is next nothing is on his board so we'll go ahead and flip oh don't worry we got another red enemy uh this one after you defeat it you have to roll the curse die only needs two this does mean the red board is completely filled up as well so if we don't get rid of any ghost on this board when it's the red taoist turn he's going to lose one chi well i've got a couple options here i could one just stay here change this to a black so it'd be easier for us to defeat that black widow or two i could move over here and try and attack that green wicked one hoping that i could get too green yeah getting two is not likely but i don't know i don't know this is this is so long term and i am right now in a bit of a pickle so i'm gonna take a chance because that's kind of how i play games i take chances let's move here let's try and attack that wicked one come on two green come on two green boom green and a white white's considered wild we only need two that will defeat this wicked one remember normally we need three but because we're using that one villager it reduces his resistance by one just took him out thank goodness that will mean we'll remove this from the board and now when we go to the green taoist turn no enemies will activate sometimes it's better to be lucky than good holy moly look at this guy the shapeless evil uh for black his ability is that this ghost haunts the first active village tile in front of it just immediately boom i think we're going to go ahead and place him here and that means we're immediately going to lose the graveyard i don't tend to use that one anyways because i hope that none of my taoists die yeah do you see how that's not going to happen that's not going to happen so this isn't great but i think i've got to do it i'm going to move our green taoist even though he's the best fighter i'm going to move him over here and he's going to activate the night watchman's beat what we can do here is all hunting figures on one board we get to choose retreat one step back onto the card and this has no effect if it's already pushed all the way back but we're going to do that to at least save the buddha tile because i don't want to lose the buddha tile that means this ghost is going to get pushed back one space here okay so that was the green taoist turn now we're going to move to the red taoist we have to activate all of these ghosts this one doesn't activate this one we're gonna have to roll the curse die and this one simply will move one space forward the cursed eye was nice to me one time will be nice again that is ridiculous thank you now that we've activated all three of these ghosts we would now need to draw another ghost except for we are overrun we're already full here so that means our red taoist loses one chi but our red taoist can now activate because we are the only monk on this side of the board i would love to pick this another buddha up but i think i need to attack i'm going to try and attack both of these or exercise both of these ghosts there's no way i'm going to be able to do both i mean i have to get two black to take out this black widow but the moment i can do that my power is going to ramp up because i've got all these tau tokens so let's hope for two black or a black and a white or two whites power of the taoist be with me look at that black and a white done just took her out we're gonna get that chi right back so i have three chi back she's gone we can now use our tau tokens thank goodness now at the end of our turn we get to place our buddha anywhere we want on any of the boards i'm going to go ahead and place this buddha right here that way if anything bad happens or we draw a bad ghost for the blue player we can just pop him there and move on speaking of which it is the blue taoist turn he is going to draw the next car we've got a red one this sharp nailed mistress does two different things upon play first thing is we have to draw another ghost card second thing is on the board that she's placed which is going to be placed on the red board which we can't so that means we can place her anywhere that we want but wherever we put her she's going to stop the ability of that player while she's there she's only a one red though i'm actually thinking of putting her on the yellow board and you'll see why in a second remember that our blue monk can exercise and use a villager i think i'm going to have him move here change this to red because i've got three red ghosts out and then he can attack her and defeat her so that's cool but we've got to draw another ghost let me just draw the next card right here we've got oh yay a blue one the ooze devil and you know what i think i know what i'm gonna do with this ooze devil i certainly know there are worse cards but three blue don't want to deal with it we're going to place this buddha back into the supply this ghost is destroyed now if there was any benefit on that card we wouldn't get the benefit either but i just got rid of it in total our blue taoist then we'll go ahead and move here and then he will switch this from a green to a red and what that means is now this resistance for this ghost is zero so i automatically defeat her i still have to take an exercise action i'll roll the dice here because it doesn't matter i can automatically defeat her because she has zero resistance our yellow taoist is next as you can see nothing on his board so let's go ahead and draw our next ghost card and we have oh just a regular yellow taoist so this walking corpse has the ability that none of the dice actually do anything to them you have to spend a towel token that should be hard i'm going to go ahead and place her in the corner right over no let's do up here since yeah let's do up here i then get to grab one tau token so i'm going to grab a red tau token and that is of course because of my special ability i don't normally just get to grab a tau token i'll move here and i'm going to go ahead and try and attack this enemy i don't even think i said the name of that one that's a blood drinker we only need a one red on him so let's go ahead oh or do i take the chance if i went here i would need three red i only have one red on me no we're gonna do a guaranteed kill because no one else can get over there yeah let's go ahead and do that we just need one red beautiful we actually got two oh man we totally could have taken out that raging one oh well you never know we just uh exercised our another ghost our green taoist just has this shapeless evil but has no middle effect so no effect while on his board let's just draw our next ghost card and we find let's see oh a yellow one oh my gosh a yellow plague of the two spots available let's go ahead and place it on here on the corner but you have four yellow that's going to be fun for this turn our green taoist is simply going to go to the herbalist and try and get some tau tokens we'll grab our dice and we get a blue and a wild so i'll grab a blue and i'll grab a red let's go ahead and do another red we're moving to our red taoist and the first thing we need to do is roll that cursed eye and we still got a blank i swear let me just see okay yeah there are other sides i just seem to happen to roll the blank and i'll take it and then unfortunately this dark wraith is going to come here and he's going to haunt this buddhist tile and that's our second title you guys if we have one more we lose the game so what you can do at any point during your turn you can use one of these tokens and i'm going to use my yin yang token we can either use that for two things one we can get the ability of any village tile that we want or two we can unhaunt a haunted tile and i definitely want to unhaunt this tile because i want those buddha tokens i am not using them enough and that's probably why i am doing so terribly there we go and i should also mention this haunt will move all the way back here and it'll take him two more turns to get there again we will continue to draw our ghosts and we get a black one these severed heads are just wonderful this states here as long as this ghost is not defeated it holds one of the tau tokens captive or tau dice so now we can only roll two or for the green one we can roll three this is going to have to go on our board but you know what the other fun part is we get to draw another ghost so let's go ahead and draw our next ghost and we have a green one the restless spirit severed heads will simply be placed here and the restless spirits let's go ahead and place him up here uh just because then we can also attack this yellow ghost over here at the same time i think the only thing our red taoist is going to do is grab a buddha token so that next round we can pop that on the board so we're gonna move to our blue taoist there's nothing on his board so let's go ahead and just draw our next ghost card and we have just the restless dead we're starting to get filled up here a little bit he's gonna be placed here he's only two yellow but it's another enemy and we now have an overrun board if we don't get rid of one over here on the yellow side our blue taoist is hoping to get rid of two ghosts here he's going to move here he's going to attack both of these ghosts he could activate this tile but all of the ghosts are the farthest back on their tracks that's not going to help anything which is a bit of a bummer but so he's he has to use a yellow tau token which he has for this ghost so then we're just looking for two greens but we're only rolling two tau dice let's see what we get oh beautiful i thought i was going to have to use a token but i didn't even have to we got a white and a green that will take out the restless spirit and of course with the yellow tau token that we're using the walking corpse will be defeated our yellow taoist is next this ghost will move one away from haunting and let's go ahead and draw our next ghost card and we just have a ghoul he'll be placed here and he's just going to be a simple haunter our yellow taoist is then going to go ahead and grab a black tau token because of his special ability and he's going to attack that uh one of the severed heads yeah the blasted ghost that's taking our die and we only need one black so we're guaranteed this even if i don't roll a white or a black we'll roll up our two dice we've got a black and a white wow if only we could save some of those and then what's cool is when we defeat the severed heads we get one of any colored tau token definitely getting a black one that's our second one then i have a plan with our yellow tau uh taoist our green taoist just has that shapeless evil not going to activate just sitting there being annoying oh we just have a green fallen monk ah and immediately we have to draw another ghost let's place this one first definitely want to place this one here because hopefully we can attack both of these uh with our blue taoist next turn and let's grab our second ghost our second ghost oh man minus one chi this is for our green taoist so you can see right here minus one she we have to place this on his board and we get a benefit when we defeat him one chi or one yang yang back he's a grave walker that actually is kind of annoying and i kind of wanted to take him out but i had a plan at this point i don't think we can keep assuming that we are going to roll a blank on the cursed eye and that cursed eye you guys can be terrible it can just haunt a tile it can bring another ghost into play uh so i think i'm gonna try and go for this red uh this red ghost because he has resistance reduced by one and we have a red tau token so we really just need two successes and we're rolling four dice come on dice i believe in you oh look at that two and we'll use this for our third and then our fourth is he's uh having his resist resistance reduced by one so we're going to get our chi token back take that we're back to three we're now back over to our red taoist only thing that's going to happen is this one is going to try and haunt again taking that step forward we're then going to draw our next ghost card oh a skinner you know what's nice we are still having the resistance for red so he's nothing i decided to place him up here just because our green house can then attack that one and potentially the shapeless evil if i want and i think for our red taoist we're just going to activate the buddha again the buddhist location and then drop this one over here in the middle spot on the blue player's board he's the only one with no ghosts but i feel like that means the most ghosts are going to be blue that are still in the deck so let's place it here moving to our blue taoist turn we'll go ahead and just flip oh we have another yellow a yellow enemy and the yellow board is totally full and looking here this is a pretty terrible card this lich so i think i know what exactly i'm gonna do well these buddhas quickly come out and are quickly used so the buddha is gone this lich uh we don't have to ever worry about rolling the die but we also don't get the benefit but i'm okay with that we don't have to get four yellow which i'm alright with this will then go back to the village tile and the reason that i could place that ghost on the blue player's board is because this board on the yellow board is completely full so i think i'm going to leave our blue taoist right where he is he's going to activate this tile that's going to allow him to push back at least this haunter and then he's going to attack this ghoul and this fallen monk come on fallen monk i'm looking for a yellow and a green i've got a white and a green well i don't even have to use the tokens that i have the white will be for the yellow and the green will be it for the green fallen monk both defeated for our yellow monk's turn simply that ghost will take one step forward we'll draw our next ghost and we have a fungi thing we have to use a tau token to get rid of him and dice is not going to help we only have one spot on the green board to place him he's going to go way up here then what i'm going to do with our yellow taoist ability he's going to grab one of the black tau tokens he now has three you guys he's going to finally take out that one obnoxious guy this does mean though that our green taoist will take achi damage because his board is full but i still think it's worth it we're going to be able to get rid of this dark wraith let's see how many blacks we roll we roll one so we'll use the other two here for the three that will defeat finally i think this guy's been out since like round two the dark wraith and that means our yellow character will have four qi tokens for our green taoist just this grave walker will take a step forward we'll lose a chi and i think we're going to stay where we are and attack we're not likely to take out this shapeless evil but at least we can for sure take out this guy because remember we still have a red token here so his resistance is technically zero we get to roll four dice we're looking for four blacks or whites combination there of well we got two that's actually pretty good too but i don't have any tokens uh we can't defeat the shapeless evil but this skinner has been skinned he's gone the red taoist he's pretty happy look at his board totally empty that means he's just gonna draw one ghost oh my gosh look at that green monster uh oh too bad we don't have a buddha down we have to place this and all of the green board is full so let's go ahead let's place this guy in the middle here and i know we can move anywhere on the board but this tile is just so good we're going to grab a buddha we're then going to grab this remaining buddha put it on our blue players board again just because we're going to save his butt yet again because we're going to go ahead and move to the blue player who has no ghost on his board he's going to flip oh that's just the hound of depth we're definitely just going to place it on the board because that's way too easy to use a buddha for that we'll put him here i think i'm going to have the blue taoist stay where he is he's going to activate that tile push this ghost back then he's going to attack i'm not even going to roll dice because it's only this fungus thing that he has to deal with and he has to use his one green tau token to take care of it because dice do nothing to him but at least that kills him and then that will protect the yellow player and it protects the green player i feel like that's the best bet so moving to the yellow player the only thing that's gonna happen is this ghost is gonna move forward one our next ghost we have oh okay we're gonna have the sharp nail mistresses that's gonna go in a red spot and we're gonna have to draw another ghost card remember though these guys are the easiest to defeat and i should have flipped him this way that's how i've been playing at least well grab our next one oh that guy's not easy the flesh devour oh and it's red so we can't put it on our buddha holy moly we've got a flesh devourer of four a four a one and a four over here we are in so much trouble our yellow taoist for his special ability will grab one blue tau token though this might still work yeah i don't even have to roll dice for this this sharp nailed mistress we can take out by just rolling any dice because its resistance is reduced by one so i'll take this guy out and then we have to use that blue tau token here on the hound of depth so this ghost is done so we just took out two ghosts giving us a little bit of space thank you yellow taoist unfortunately though during the green taoist turn this ghost is going to haunt this tile i would flip it over but i'm just going to use a yangyang to flip it back because i love that tile and that's two out of the three i don't want to accidentally have a third one flip when i have yin yang's available to us so i still have two more which is good oh yeah okay we'll draw a card this is for our green taoist and he gets an abysmal that will go on the blue tile or the blue taoist board i feel like there are much worse ghost so i'm gonna go ahead and just place this one here still saving that buddha for something nasty well we get to roll four dice come on we're fighters we're gonna move here we're gonna attack this grave walker we need two blacks on four dice we have no of no black tokens we have a green and a blue but i don't know what else we're gonna be able to do so let's let's give it a go come on two blacks come on two blacks oh we have a white and a blue and two reds not enough a red taoist has a terrible lineup on his board but none of them are haunters at least and none of them have effects they're just hard to get rid of so we'll just draw our next one this is a blue just a sticky feet we'll place that one here i still feel like it's not uh buddha worthy maybe it should be but i'm just saying it's not we've got this restless dead right here that's just driving us bonkers so i think i am going to do our fly ability move two spaces come here and try and attack them we need two yellow come on two yellow oh look at that two yellow no problem we're going to take him out and remove them from the board at the end of the red taoist turn we can place a buddha and we'll place that buddha on our red board our blue taoist now has two ghosts to worry about oof uh but he will draw a ghost let's see what he gets oh he gets a red scarlet evil evildoer i mean three red it's not terrible but we have to place it on the red board which we place that buddha there so it's gone don't have to worry about it and then this will go back to the village village tile we're then going to have some fun we're going to go ahead and move here we're going to activate the herbalist and we're going to try and take out that grave walker and we already have one black tau token so we should be able to take them out theoretically first for our tau tokens we'll get a blue and a white so i'll grab the final blue and i might as well grab another black just in case that way we have two black and then for our combat roll we'll roll no black at all i'm really glad i did that because i'll spend both black here i'll defeat him which will give us let's see we already have a yin yang so we'll grab our fourth chi nice we'll move to our yellow taoist he just has that blasted yellow plague on his board oh boy we're gonna have the repellent beauty she's going to steal one of our dice we can only take her out with a tau token and when we defeat her we can get one of any type that's actually not terrible actually the thing that is terrible are the people that have the black tau tokens are not anywhere near her bummer so the yellow taoist with his ability will grab one yellow he now has two yellow a green a red and a black and i think he's just going to activate the village tile to keep these buddhas going so he'll grab this buddha and if his next turn he can place it now on to the green taoist he will draw also a black first of all we're going to lose another die this is terrible the severed heads is going to take our second die and we're going to draw another card so i'm going to place him up here in the corner but then our next ghost that we're going to have oh wait and before i do that i'm going to place this die here so i don't forget two dice you guys uh our next one is just a yellow zombie he's not going to do anything except for really tick us off by filling up the yellow board as you can see here look at these none of them are haunting but they're all gross with this though our green taoist will still be able to roll two dice because of his ability so i'm going to take a chance we're going to move here hoping for maybe one or even two black or whites black or white black or white we got a black okay which one do we want to do well that should be a no-brainer the yellow board is full the green one's not so we're going to take this one out we get one of any colored token i'm definitely gonna grab a black oh no not any color i can't grab a black uh if i've done that before i probably cheated i'll make a note sorry about that i will grab let's see what do we have out i'll go ahead and grab a green one so i have two green our red taoist is next he's got an open spot neither of these ghosts do anything let's see what he gets oh just a blue uzi oh and guess what the ooze devil there's only one spot in the blue one that we can place one and it's where a buddha is this guy's toast gone and this buddha goes back to the village tile for a red taoist turn i think all he's going to do is activate the circle of prayer switching it over to a black one yeah because that way we can at least defeat the severed heads no problem next turn and get all three of our dice back unfortunately that does mean during the blue taoist turn this ghost is going to come and hot this tile we'll use our yin yang to flip it back over so we still only have one haunted tile we have one yin yang left you guys and then this one's gonna get placed back here we'll then flip our next card and we have a green wicked one he's going to go center board center stage drop them here i'm going to have our blue taoist use a new tile we're going to move into the center tile this one is called the pavilion of the heavenly winds you can move a ghost of your choice to any free space even one that contains a buddha figure and then move up a taoist that's not yours to any village tile we're going to go ahead and grab this green wicked one and we're going to place them right over here hopefully so that our yellow towers next turn can take care of them and then we're going to move the red taoist over here to the sorceress tile i haven't used the sorcerer i think it's actually a sorcerer looks like a sorceress i don't know sorcerer sorceress tile you can give up a chia to immediately destroy any ghost as long as it's not wufang and i might be using that our yellow taoist is next let's go ahead and draw our next card oh it's a great putrid that looks gross and like i said we might be getting rid of that through the sorcerer tile we have to roll the curse die every time this board is activated which by the way will be next time well this is a bit of a stretch but with our yellow taoist special ability he'll grab another green token so we've got two out of the three that we need we're going to attack him and try and attack this abysmal maybe trying to take them both out that will well yeah we're only two dice i don't think that's gonna happen maybe one let's see what the tau dice give us oh two green beautiful one more green we'll take out that green ghost maybe that means it was worth going over there i don't know blue player we're going to have the ghost move up one we're going to grab an abysmal here that's going to be placed right here on his board now his board is full well we placed our red taoist here but i think our blue taoist is going to go here he is going to spend one qi and he's going to discard any ghost and we can ignore this ability on the side so i think we're going to do that to this one yeah we're going to just take this one out don't have to worry about its ability but we had to lose one qi for it then because we can do both things we're also going to attack this abysmal we're only going to roll two white dice for it but we've got three blue tau tokens so we're guaranteed to kill him somewhere it always feels pretty amazing to be able to take out two ghosts in one roll hey that's a white so we'll just use one of these for the second and our second ghost is gone a two for a wonder and you know what this is the problem when playing solo i totally last time forgot to place out this buddha so i'm going to place it now before i draw normally i do at the end of my turn but i've lost a whole turn i'm going to go ahead and place it right here since i'm sitting here with my camera maybe we'll get a yellow or a black oh we got a yellow well done oh does this ability happen no that ability doesn't happen we have to draw another tile because that stops all abilities of the ghost awesome i think what we're going to do is grab a third yellow tau token for our special ability and then we're just going to grab a buddha that i'm going to remember next turn to place down sorry about that now though we're going to move to the green player and we're going to have to roll a curse die we've been lucky three times can we do four no okay we just lose minus one chi oh for our green player our green player only has one she left that would be terrible i don't want him to die well you guys i really should have thought of this look we have an entirely overrun board so instead of drawing one we lose one chi and what that means is our taoist just died i'm going to place him on the cemetery tile on the side he loses all of his tau tokens so we're going to grab those and all of his ghosts still activate normally but none of these will move forward we're still gonna roll the curse die every time we get here unfortunately now we're just gonna move to the red taoist bummer total poor planting so the red taoist none of these ghosts are to activate he's going to flip and put out a bleeding eyes because that sounds wonderful and we'll place this here i'm still really upset about that green taoist especially because i had a total plan and now i'm going to have to change it i'm going to have to fly myself over to here i'm going to attack these severed heads remember we have our black resistance reduced by one doesn't matter what i roll with the two dice he's defeated we get one of any color oh what do i want you know i already have one red let's grab a second red and we're going to discard the severed heads then unfortunately does mean that when our blue player goes this ghost is going to haunt this tile blasted sticky feet then we'll place this here and another ghost shall come into play oh it's black uh what does this mean we all have to lose one tau token i believe yep this is confirming we all have to lose one tau token so i've got one blue one from our blue player one red one from our red player and let's go ahead and do one red one from no you know what i like the red one one green one from our yellow player we also of course have to roll the cursed eye every time he's activated ah this guy's just terrible uh and i have to place him here here i'll go ahead and place him here and as the blue player i think i'm simply going to move here and i'm going to try and attack these sticky feet i can't use this ability because of course it's haunted and i don't have a yin yang only the yellow player has a yin yang i'm looking for just one blue at least i've got a wild which will work this blue will work for the other one that will take out the sticky feet we'll move to our yellow player we'll go ahead and flip the next card and we have coffin breakers this one we have to draw another tile or another ghost card and we have to place this on the yellow taoist ability so we don't get a tau token this will be placed in the third open slot on his board let's grab the next one okay this is gonna have to be placed someone somewhere else let's go ahead and place that zombie right here we don't get our special ability this turn thanks to that coffin breaker so what i think i'm going to do is move here i'm going to use my yin yang to activate this ability i've got four chi i'm going to discard one so i have three chi i'm going to just feed any ghost on the board i don't like this cursed eye this cursed eye could really hurt us so i'm going to discard that one then i'm going to attack this zombie i need two yellows i have three yellows so this should be good well i've got one yellow there i'll use another yellow here the zombie is gone but that does mean i have to roll the curse die and i get what does that mean that is pretty much the worst one you could possibly have for this yellow player he has to discard all of his tau tokens oh man this game is going south real real fast at the end of our turn though we get to place one of these buddhas i'm gonna place it here and then now we're gonna go to the green player the green player doesn't even get to activate sorry man uh but we will draw a ghost for him anyways we'll put the hopping vampire on his board oh wonderful we'll place him over in the corner in hopes that we can take him out three yellow yeah right and guess what we're now going to go to the red player we get a small reprieve from having more enemies put into play because we've got three here so we're just going to lose a chi uh but this one's going to move forward one what do we want to do you know we have one red tau token left we can fly anywhere let's come over here and let's attack him i think that's the best idea we need to see one red come on one oh oh wild will work this will be our other red and we took out those bloody eyes or whatever they're called we're still hanging on by a thread just barely we have this soul eater here for the blue character so that means we have to roll the cursed eye and then we'll draw another ghost our cursed eye was so nice to us before ah beautiful we have no tau tokens take that that's not gonna do anything to us let's then draw our next ghost card oh we have a liquid horror i think that's a good one to pop on this buddha we don't get the benefit but it's gone no worries well i definitely don't love it but i still think it's the best idea we're going to move here we are going to use our sorcerer we're going to lose one chi so we only have two left and we're going to kill i think this zombie that's on our yellow players board so that way he doesn't take damage and that means then when it's the yellow player's turn the two ghosts there have no haunting or automatic effect we'll just draw another card we get a scarlet evildoer that's placed here on our red board and now our red board is overrun and you know after a yellow player we don't have our green player hm what are we gonna do our yellow taoist still has three chi tokens so what the heck use one we're going to kill should we do this green one or should we do the yeah we should just do the haunting one i know the green one's terrible it needs four but we could just ignore it hopefully let's get rid of this one so we don't have to worry about it but that does mean uh yeah we only have two chi left we only have two chi left you guys and no tau tokens nobody has any tau tokens this is gonna be bad our poor green taoist still gonna have this ghost move on him even though he's dead and i think we should be getting close to wufang would be my guess oh look at that furry of death this means now when it's a blue player's turn we're going to be rolling two cursed dice oh at this point let's put her here and you know what we're just gonna move right to the red player's turn he has no ghost to activate so he's just got the two sitting in his spot we have the perfiduous nymph that just means we're going to draw another ghost because why not put insult to injury so our next ghost will be oh the downed mate or drowned maiden the drowned maiden will be placed here with the haunting token and yeah did you guys see what the next ghost is it's buffet it's wufang we are so not prepared i usually have tau tokens but i lost a ton from our yellow player and our blue player hmm and our green player died well i think we're pretty much guaranteed to lose at this point but we're still going to do it we're going to move over here to the source sorcerer we're going to ask him to take some more of our life essence we're going to go down to one chi for our red player and we're just going to kill off this one that means we have some space for our blue player which you know what that means we're going to bring them out let's see what wu fang are we going to deal with oh look at this guy he's red we're all going to lose one tau token take that we don't have any oh when he activates we all lose one tau token and if we were playing at harder modes this would actually matter but since we're playing on normal there's only one wufang incarnation the bonecrackers who we're going against so then this doesn't matter so it actually would matter if you're trying to score i've never scored i just try and win i'm going to go ahead and place him here just you understand he is red so normally he'd go on this board but this board is full that's why i got to choose also i can't place him on a buddha if you look at this tile there's a little symbol here saying no no wufang so you can't put wufang on a buddha and immediately win so i need to get four red to be able to defeat him i forgot that we had the furry of death on our boards we have to roll the curse die and that just meant we lost we have to haunt a tile we already have two tiles that are haunted yeah that's our third tile we lose the game well i will say that was a ton of fun i totally got annihilated i did not have a great strategy so don't use this video as a strategy guide but you can see what not to do and that is let your green taoist die uh i had a blast this is one i'm never gonna get rid of it's just so fun it's light it's quick my six-year-old can totally play this i'm going to play this with him on halloween i think but it's also really nice it co-ops pretty well you each have your own things that you're trying to do but you also can help each other especially using these different tiles i think i used all of them well except for the graveyard i didn't use the graveyard and i didn't use this one which you can get a plus one sheet plus one of any type of tau token but then you have to draw a monster card because you went for tea so another i shouldn't say monster another ghost can come into play because of it but yeah it's a lot of fun it's an older one there's a couple expansions out for it too if you really want it but i don't really think you need it pull this out every once in a while for some enjoyment some laughs and to die thank you so much for watching i'll catch you at the next stop
