for a third-party vendor for one of the most well-known retail stores in the u.s. hint blue vest era my priority is selling mobile data plans and mobile accessories in other words I'm the phone person this also means that while I work at the electronics counter in the store of blue vests I don't actually work for them this of course also means that there are certain tasks I'm not supposed to do including ringing up people that aren't purchasing any mobile accessories there are sometimes exceptions like when the rest of the electronics associates are swamped because of understaffing while I try to help out when they're super busy the point is that I'm not supposed to too often one afternoon when I was adding some inventory to the system one of the associates asked if I could ring up this lady who is now Karen who was buying iPhone screen protectors he was the only associate working at the time and there was a mini line of five people he wanted to help the next customer while I ring Karen up one thing I forgot to mention is that I have my own little area at the electronics counter there I have my own little seaton computer that many customers have mistaken as a cash register it's understandable since there is also a card reader there not much happened while I was checking her items out it was just any normal transaction at the cash register she thanks me and I tell her to have a good day afterward I go back to my seat to completely inventory about ten minutes later while I'm still sitting at my computer it happens Karen taps her nails on my counter me looks at her smiling ye Karen shoves her pointer finger into my face you you need to get off your damn chair and help everyone that's in line right now me immediately annoyed excuse me Karen we all have been waiting in line and you've just been sitting here doing nothing it's not F other associate ma'am she actually isn't a Walmart associate and is actually supposed to strictly be in charge of phones Karen asterisk surprised he came to my defense asterisk oh I was just trying to help you other associate yes I understand but if you could just wait in line I will be able to assist you soon Karen oh okay okay you see I just thought I saw her other associate yes I understand then the Karen left without apologizing of course just kind of Waddell doff the other associate and I just shared a look like WTF was that Karen didn't even go back in line in fact she wasn't in line in the first place I had already helped her and she left and for some reason felt the need to come back and yell at me but yes so that's my little I don't work here story I have a couple more but this is the first one that came to mind hope you enjoyed carrot carrot oh and I treated that associate to Starbucks the next story is titled Karen I'm literally 13 this happened about a year ago just after I got done with volleyball sorry about for Matt my computer died cast up yours truly Karen mean lady gym Karen's husband to catch you up I was one of those girls that filled out young I mean young like 11 I'm pretty short too so if people just see me in baggy clothes they think I'm my actual age if I have makeup on I look 16 I was sitting down to eat at a restaurant in the town I was playing volleyball at when I had to go to the restroom I just told my mum what I wanted to drink and got up to use the restroom I'm wearing a black dress and the waitress are to mind you the ladies room is across the restaurant of course it's packed so I squeezed through the tables being polite I hear a lady in front of me repeating excuse me excuse me so I turned around and looked at her and she groaned Karen finally some damn service I've been waiting for 10 minutes to even order my drinks oh I'm sorry miss I don't Karen you better be sorry I want the first round of drinks to be on the house for compensation opt ma'am as I tried to say Jim I'll have our most expensive drink now opt sir I don't work here Karin of course you do you're like sixteen I should probably tell your manager your address is too short I can see your thighs op miss I'm not even in high school if you think I'm even 14 you're wrong besides why are you staring at my body I am 13 it took a lot to stand up because of my untreated social anxiety but I did it I remember my meal got taken off of the check and it was like 25 dollars the next story is titled I may be wearing scrubs but I don't work here here's another current story that happened to my mum as she was attending her doctor's appointment I wasn't present to witness the whole interaction but it's my mom's perspective of the interactions after work my mum had a doctor's appointment today and during her visit she encountered to Karen's due to kovat 19 her doctor's visit required her to wait outside in her vehicle until the doctor was ready during her wait a woman nice lady had pulled into a parking space and dropped off what my mum assumed to be her son when a car with two elderly women the Karen's begin to pull in while the mother began to pull out of her parking space to leave being a generous person the nice lady pulled back into her space to allow the elderly currents through in which the elderly Karen's proceeded to block her in and shout profanities at the poor nice lady after they got their fill of spewing profanities at her they parked in their own space nearly hitting my mum's truck in the process a little bit later my mum then received a text from the doctor giving her the OK to finally go inside as she was crossing the parking lot she heard a voice from one of the elderly Karen's there wasn't really any interaction from the second Karen but he is their interaction elderly current ma'am hello ma'am mum are you talking to me elderly Karen can you tell them that Karen is here for her appointment we don't have our phones this Karen wasn't exactly being polite to my mum as she was shouting the whole time at her mum I don't work here elderly Karen but you're wearing scrubs my mum works as a nurse in an emergency care location that also acts as a doctor's office and she had just gotten off work to attend her doctor's appointment so I can see how the Caryn's would have confused her for being one of the nurses at the doctor's office however these Karen's were noticeably rude from the start and were still being rude mum I may be wearing scrubs but I don't work here she proceeded to walk into the doctor's office with the elderly Karen screaming profanities at her the interaction doesn't end here though after checking in my mum sat in one of the chairs to wait for the doctor to call her in her wait would have been for at least less than five minutes in comes the elderly Karen's glaring daggers at my mum while they proceeded to check in the nurse at the front desk the first elderly Karen began to make her demands to see the manager elderly Karen I want to see your manager to discuss one of your employees the poor nurse began to look confused Karen turned to pointer my mum her I want her fired she was very rude and ignored me the nurse peered around her to look at my mum then back to the elderly Karen looking even more confused nurse um she doesn't work here she's one of our patients that silenced the elderly Karen who then proceeded to grumble about rude youngsters before taking a seat as far away as she could from my mum this is the end to my mum's crazy encounter with the rude elderly Karen's and the rest of her appointment went smoothly the next story is titled I wore a blue shirt to Walmart and apparently that's all the proof Karen needs literally yesterday I went up the road to Walmart to get a couple six-packs of soda for my sister and I the sell for like two dollars a pack basically but that isn't important I made the grave error of wearing a blue t-shirt however I had assumed it's not a big deal my other attire should be incentive enough to make people not gravitate towards meat right wrong just as I exit the soft drinks aisle this bootleg aren't Marge from Harry Potter comes barreling towards me Karen I need you to find the cereal aisle God she sounded like the Kidz Bop careened from that one video meet first off back up off me with that standoffish tone second I don't work here go pester an actual employee Karen blocks my cart and starts pointing her fat bull on your fingers at me all accusatory like Karen who do you think you're talking to I'll have you pay for my groceries if you keep talking to me like that me I'm talking to a fat schmuck who won't leave me the hell alone also don't point your grubby fingers at me cuz I will absolutely buy them by this point I am actually getting upset her voice just drives me up the wall and makes me want to fly off the handle an employee makes a practical drift around the corner saying ma'am ma'am stop wait that guy doesn't work here Karen sure he does he's wearing a blue shirt me I'm also wearing grey cargo shorts a black head set around my neck black sandals Karen you work here me do not interrupt me and a pair of sunglasses on the top of my head what Walmart employee wears what I am currently wearing look at this guy i gestured to the employee who finally took the chance to talk employee ma'am he does not work here why won't you listen to what we're saying Karen maybe if he wasn't so disrespectful I wouldn't have to make a big stink about it all right you know what I'm dropping professionalism meat maybe if you weren't such an entitled CT you'd actually get some help this lady gasped so hard I'm surprised she didn't choke on the air Karen excuse me little boy w-h-o in God's graces do you think you're speaking to like that me oh my god either work with the employee standing there oh I'll get lost you're wasting my time you're in my way and if I have to go through your fat ass to get to checkout then so be by this point three more employees come over one of which wore a vest in a radio and they call a supervisor down see that current you didn't even have to demand an audience with the manager supervisor comes down immediately goes I thought I told you I didn't want to see you back in here call security down here now two employees lead me away from the aisle to see if I'm all right employees you all right man me yeah I'm set can I go pay for my stuff employees sure go right ahead she's a real character around here if you'd like we can put in a word to the police department for me I don't really care I appreciate it but I just want to pay for my drinks and go it's too hot out to be doing this I pay for my stuff and go home in conclusion don't wear blue to Walmart from now on I'm wearing red to Walmart it attracts ugly things the next story is titled I don't work for that telecom company a bit of background I work as a field technician for one of the two major telecom companies in my area there are strict rules when it comes to us messing with each other's networks basically the long and the short of it is that we are not allowed to touch any of the competitors cables or equipment unless it is to simply move it out of the way so basically no disconnecting these rules are enforced by steep fines that both the company and technician would have to pay on to the story I was doing some storm restoration work after a pretty windy and heavy thunderstorm my customers dropped the line that hangs from the telephone pole to the house had been torn down by a falling tree limb there was enough cable left on the drop that I could simply climb back up the pole and re hang it as is so I was up on the pole and I had just finished hanging it and making the connections in the terminal when I could feel eyes on me I looked at the house next to my customers and saw a lady there pointing and waving at me as soon as we made eye contact she immediately started running down stairs towards me I knew that she was going to try to get me to do something for her so I started to get off the pole as quickly as possible I managed to get out of my climbing gear but she caught me as I was stowing the ladder that's when the following conversation happened lady you work for company right keep in mind I'm wearing a company uniform and the company logo is plastered all over my truck me yes what can I do for you lady my wire hanging very low can you climb up and pull higher me unfortunately no I would need a service ticket to do that as I said that I noticed that the wire she was pointing to wasn't even our cable it was the competitors cable meet that's not a company line it's a competitor line you have to call them to get it brought up lady but my phone company me I understand that but that line is competitor you have to call them lady my phone company me yes your phone company but that line is competitor I am not allowed to touch it lady my phone company me okay we're done bye I then got in my truck and drove back around to the front of my customers house and left her standing there if you guys like this story I have many more from my years working at this company the next story is titled wrong store but how can I help you this happened a few years ago when I was working in the fairytale land of the blue vests my wife worked right across the parking lot in their sister club store and since they had a pretty good cafe in the store I would often run across the parking lot to have lunch with my wife on this particular day though my wife had the day off I ran across the parking lot to grab a couple of hotdogs and some frozen yogurt still in my tan pants blue shirt with the name embroidered on it and blue vest and after eating my lunch I still had some time to kill so I started ambling around seeing if there was anything I didn't really need to spend some money on as I'm doing this I'm chatting with my wife on the cell phone a kindly older lady walks up I'm a real sucker for my elders and asks me very politely where something is I start to stammer but my wife who's heard the question through the phone tells me what eyelets on and I relay this to the customer she asks me where that is I have to tell my wife where I'm standing and then I relay the directions complete with pointing a few steps later and another customer steps up to ask where something else is Louie I know this one so I politely direct the customer to their location thanks insu and I'm off again wouldn't you know it but I get stopped yet again another where can I find question I explained I don't actually work here but at the store across the parking lot but by wife does and relay the question again I relay the answer complete with pointing and aside I've had enough shopping and head for the front door I'm almost to the door when I'm stopped one last time with a simple do you carry question my wife quickly replies nope sorry I relay and hit the door after that I was always careful to take my vest off and put jacket over the blue shirt but my wife and I still laugh about that to this day laughing face the next story is titled how my brother got a free pizza now this happened years ago I think either the iPhone or the iPod had just come out or it was a couple of years after that all right on to the story my brother was either in his senior year of high school or it was his first or second year in college my brother worked in the bakery of a grocery store and up until then hadn't encountered a current entitled parents or an entitled kid before then unfortunately this was when he had his first encounter with one or all of them so what does my brother do when he gets home gets his phone out and starts texting to his friend complaining about how awful his day was and how awful the customers were the thing of it is he accidentally texted the Domino's near us my brother's friends number ended in I think five thousand nine hundred and seventy five while Domino's ended 5957 so yeah it was really easy to get the two numbers mixed up Domino's got the full text message of his rant the thing of it is none of them were mad the manager actually thought my brother was an ex-employee so to compensate or possibly to make sure not to get a bad review I have no idea I like to think more of the first then the second they gave my brother a free one topping pizza my brother was pretty shocked when he got the call from Domino's and that he was getting a free pizza then he checked the number that texted he accidentally gotten the two numbers mixed up whoops the next story is titled well at least someone is willing to do their job background the uniform for this place is car keys close toed shoes and a red and blue vest I was wearing black athletic shorts flip-flops and van tank top with the image of a stabbed hand on it very work appropriate obviously sarcasm so I'm at an outdoor garden store and the line for checkout stretches the length of the entire garden center because the cashier wants to hear everyone's life story before she lets them carry on their way we got in line as the fifth person in 30 minutes later our finally next up suddenly this older lady walks up perpendicular to the line and heading slowly for me I think she's trying to cut the line and I'm thinking oh hell no not after 30 minutes of waiting and close to 20 people behind me so I inch forward using the shopping cart to block any entrance for her she looks over at me and stares I had reflective sunglasses on so I don't know if she knew I was staring right back then she asks how much are these flowers what I looked down at myself yet still not work appropriate clothes I don't know I tell her another short staring contest she's waiting I don't know what fur she inches forward I do too an employee walks into the area and she turns her attention to him the plant is eight dollars she looks at me well at least someone is willing to do their job she says dot dot dot dot yeah the next story is titled no I'm not a volunteer I'm just being nice I'm not sure if this fits but I guess it does x3 this happens about four to five years ago but I still remember it like it happened yesterday I was just walking home from my bus station to our house you should know that I was able to walk three different ways home one through a creepy side way one past a playground and one past a retirement home that day I was using the third option to get home the location looked like this along maybe 100 meter 300 feet way surrounded by some trees and bushes at the end of that way started the property of the retirement home it was one of those days my mum wasn't home until one hour after I was back so I took it easy and walked slowly I saw that the elders were outside sitting and walking around the property like they do every noon between 12:00 and 3:00 p.m. I had my headphones on and minding my own business when an elderly woman sitting on a bench reached her hand out for me to get my attention I stopped pulled down my headphones she then asked me really nicely if I could walk her up and down the way for a little bit because she was too weak to do it on her own because I had nothing better to do and my mum wasn't waiting for me I said yes and helped her get up after she got a good grip on me so she wouldn't just fall we started to slowly walk up and down for maybe two times talking about school friends and family I had to repeat some things a few times because she and Stanley forgot almost everything I said when a woman stopped us she was maybe 30 and had a big smile on her lips hey Martha she said to the old lady not her real name and patted her hand I found out that she was a good friend of Martha's children and was living right besides the retirement home thank you so much for taking care of Martha you volunteer guys are really nice and helpful here have some money the woman then said and wanted to give me 50 ducking euros but I stopped her and explained that I wasn't working there as a volunteer I was just coming back from school and had some time left so thought it would be the right thing to do by helping her I quickly said the woman starred at me for a second and then started to laugh oh I'm sorry but it's really really nice to know that there are actually still people left in your age who are being nice for free even though Martha was a total stranger for you quote I just smiled so did Martha the whole time by the way and declined the money once again before bringing Martha back to the property and going home feeling extremely proud I know if nothing wild and no police was called but I thought I'd share it with you guys anyway English is not my first language so correct me if you find any mistakes the next story is titled another instance of not a current living in a smaller town I mostly go to Walmart to do all my shopping a couple years ago their uniforms were actually just navy blue shirts and khaki pants that was also the uniform I wore for my job long story short got done working and stopped at Walmart before I went home a woman stopped me and asked me if I knew where an item was I actually knew so I took her to it chatted a little bit and asked my name so she could let someone know how helpful and friendly I was I don't work here she tried to apologize but I wouldn't let her I don't mind helping people even if I don't work there if
