Interesting! I never realized that I could understand Yiddish at the same level as I do German. I understood the Afrikaans one perfectly and the German almost entirely (I don’t speak German), I could understand the general message of the Swedish and Norwegian one and quite a few words, maybe because I watched a lot of Swedish shows. But the Danish, Icelandic and Faroer ones I couldn’t understand a single word.

Interesting somehow to my years Afrikaans sounded more similar to standard German than was the case for the main Dutch standard. When it came to regular Dutch I can definitely pick up some words, but in Afrikaans I almost felt like I should be able to understand most of it.
