GALAXY S24 ULTRA FULL REVIEW OF NEW FEATURES - Is it worth upgrading?

Samsung Galaxy s24 Ultra what's new and is it worth upgrading that's a very question I'll be answering in today's video whilst providing my quality analysis for those looking to upgrade or if you're simply just interested in what's new and different about Samsung's latest flagship phone hey guys welcome back to the Kev analysis Channel today we're going to be covering off Galaxy AI the camera design and display battery differences between the s24 24 plus and Ultra and finally tips for taking advantage of Samsung Care Plus so stay tuned until the end the biggest feature which comes with this series which everyone is talking about is Galaxy AI as we all know jna has taken the World by storm and we've seen how powerful applications like chat GPT can solve a lot of real world problems Galaxy AI offers many powerful features all in the palm of your hand making useful tools more accessible and seamless in integrating into your daily life let's look at how Galaxy AI changes note taking for work or school check out this transcription feature you can use transcript assist to transcribe voice recordings that you take on The Voice Recorder app so instead of spending time writing an email or important message you can transcribe it or even have the translation summarized simply by pressing on the start icon now let's have a look at how the s24 transforms note taking the ultra comes handy with a stylus and by releasing this the notepad is instantly opened allowing you to take notes as if the screen were a page once done with note taking you can press the star icon which is the key Galaxy AI icon in some of Samsung's native apps this then allows you to convert the notes into text summarize it or even structure it in bullet point form you can now quickly summarize your notes even in a different language and share them with your colleagues or your manager Galaxy AI offers a new way to search whenever you're scrolling through social media or if you just happen to come across something in a video or photo that you're interested in circles to search with Google gives you answers in seconds simply by holding on the home key and circling the object of interest and Google will use pixel matching to provide multiple results taking you straight to websites where you can find out more information this feature is a simpler version of Google Lens I've been using this feature to find cool interior decorations I see of display homes the Samsung browser also contains the new browser assist function which lets you quickly summarize or translate articles but this is a feature which already exists in other browsers like like Microsoft Edge powered by GPT so nothing unique or special here Galaxy AI enables removing the barriers of language making traveling to foreign countries so much easier so you can communicate in a different language in real time Samsung now comes with an interpreter app which is like a personal translator using a userfriendly split screen to translate from your spoken language directly to any other language you choose this app is very similar to Google Translate but slightly better and more user friendly the live translate feature translate a foreign language straight and reads it out to you in real time and then translate your language back to the other person due to the processing time there is a slight delay which doesn't create the best experience I find muting both original voices and only allowing the translation to go through makes it a lot easier to follow I've tried using this feature a few times times to make bookings and it usually results in the other person hanging up on me due to the robotic translated voice sounding like a scam call it really does feel clunky unnatural and hasn't really worked out for me I think this would work a lot better if the other person knew about the feature and had patience it does take some time to get used to but it does work when it's absolutely needed lastly under the language category we have chat assist which helps fine-tune your context by changing up the style to suit your audience and the intended message you want to convey one of the limitations of these translation features is that it's only integrated into the call and messaging applications so you can't use it on other applications like WhatsApp or messenger now for the analysis to sum up Galaxy AI these are not new tools in the market nor are they unique to the s24 so there's nothing groundbreaking or overly impressive here you can currently already gain access to AI tools across various different applications I also soon suspect that very soon we're going to see many applications and other smartphones start embedding AI into their software as this is going to be the new way that we interact digitally the current Advantage is that Galaxy AI is early to the smartphone game by minimizing the barriers of Entry by providing some of these tools integrating them into the phone making it more convenient accessible and userfriendly Samsung has said though that many AI features will be rolled out onto some of the older devices like the s23 series and because these are not Hardware specific features it's not something that is only bound to the s24 series moving on to the camera Department the rear camera on the s24 ultra contains four lenses a 200 map main lens a 12 map ultrawide lens a 10 map three times telephoto lens and lastly for the fourth lens and being the only difference from the s23 ultra a 50 megapixel lens with five times Tel photo Zoom compared to a 10 mapel and 10times T photo on the s23 let's go and demonstrate this camera in a number of scenarios and conditions details are captured well with a pop of five at an indoor grocery store portraits are crisp and clear with strong contrast and a great background blur low light performance is quite impressive with the larger sensor and bigger pixels which brightens an image Samsung claim a larger 1.4 microm pixel size a 60% increase from the s23 ultra which enables more light captured in dim conditions if you're looking for close-up images and videography the AI based Zoom can go up to 100x once you snap the image the s24 ultra uses deep learning to render the image to increase its quality although this has improved from the previous models when testing you can see the photo is still rather pixelated and doesn't deliver a quality image that you can be proud to show and it's certainly nowhere near a quality image produced by ad telephoto lens moving on to the video the s24 ultra pops out at 8K resolution at 30 Fram per second or Ultra HD at 60 frames per second the s24 ultra adds an improved image stabilizer and advanced handshake compensation which further helps to minimize blurry and shaky shots when you're shooting both the front and rear cameras are equipped with enhanced image noise reduction going back to Galaxy AI a key noticeable upgrade within the camera category for the s24 would be the AI editing tools you can now easily remove objects Reflections fill part of an image or even place a new object into an existing image with AI which would be painful doing so manually another useful Galaxy AI feature is the instant slowmo you can record normally then apply this effect later on this works much better with a higher frames per second setting so make sure you're shooting using 60 fps to get that extra smooth motion to sum up every year Samsung does make incremental improvements to the camera quality and also the camera Hardware however if you're only jumping one model it's not really something that you're going to notice in my experience significant difference is only noticed in the camera quality when you're jumping a couple of models that's when it starts to make a difference what currently stands out with the s24 is a Galaxy AI editing tool tools which can prove to be very useful but going back to my comment on Galaxy AI these features are software and applications specific so not unique just to the s24 improved image stabilization is also very impressive a very smooth motion is achieved with minimal effort compared to a mirrorless or DSLR camera where extra bulky stabilization Hardware is required to achieve the same effect in this next section let's take a quick look at the design of the phone and its impressive display the frame is made of a durable titanium I'm pretty basic so I went for the Black Version I'm pretty happy that Samsung made this switch as I find the older models with the glass are prone to cracking even with a case it's water and dust resistant with an ip68 rating for those who like watching videos while showering the aggressively curved screen which has been part of the Galaxy series for many generations is ditched for a 6 6.8 in QHD AMOLED display with 120 HZ refresh rate there's still a slight curvature to the finish so it's not 100% flat and sharp note that the default display is set to full HD so if you want the best resolution performance you'll need to change this in the settings but do note that this will use more battery the screen features a gorilla grass which enhances its durability and scratch resistance improve its anti- reflectiveness and still feels nice and smooth to the finger with its adaptive display you'll have no issues using the phone in direct sunlight with a peak brightness of over 1,350 nits you can see in this photo the comparative difference in reflection directly under a light bar however do note that this property will ultimately be determined by your screen protector if you decide to use one you can see when I hover this one over the screen there is a significant impact to its anti-reflective property and difference in its field too but I would still recommend to make that trade off to ensure the longevity because trust me these are not cheap to replace I haven't been able to find the perfect screen protector yet but let me know if you can recommend one that will maintain all of the screen's original properties now let's move on to battery performance and charging the s24 Ultra phone comes with a 5,000 mamp battery compared to the 4,900 on the s24 plus and 4,000 on the s24 there hasn't been any jump in battery capacity from the s23 ultra but they do claim to have improved the battery efficiency a 45 W charger can restore about 70% in 30 minutes and 100% in just over an hour currently I'm charging mine once per day with a 4-Hour average use time of the screen this is across social media work emails General browsing and traveling using 4G I also have maps on one to two Bluetooth devices and always connected Toms guy did a test which made the phone continuously surf the web on 5G on 150 nits of brightness and returned almost 17 hours you can see in this graph here how it benchmarks really well compared to other popular phones in the market Link in the description below I recommend switching on the battery protection setting to minimize the amount of time your phone stays charged at 100% And to maximize your battery lifespan let's take a look at the hardware and differences between the s24 plus and Ultra obviously a significant difference in price point the display size goes larger and resolution jumps from Full HD to QHD with the s24 plus and Ultra although using QHD will use more battery power the ultra comes in a 1 tbte option and larger memory the ultra has a higher megapixel camera and an additional lens for better zooming cap capabilities the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Generation 3 processor on the ultra is going to give you better graphics performance processing power and improve performance for running powerful applications especially gaming I did find the s24 Ultra to be quite heavy because of the large battery and my first thoughts were that this would increase the risk of damage from drops however I think this is actually compensated for by the titanium frame and the gorilla armor display which adds extra durability there's an added S Pen in the ultra which is similar to prev models containing a click function which can come in handy for photos and can be customized using apps Samsung now also offers 7 years of software and security support for the s24 ultra and they're using it as a selling point as well however for the s24 Target marker I don't really think they're going to be maintaining a model for that long to get much value from it so I think it's a pretty clever marketing trick from Samsung and I don't want you guys falling for it last category I want to cover off in this video is Samsung care which often comes as a bonus feature when purchasing from the Samsung store I received a year subscription for free when purchasing my phone the subscription service allows you to swap for a new refurbished device regardless of the condition and a mobile refresh service using the swap or mobile refresh feature inur a small fee my guess is that Samsung banks on most people not exercising these benefits so if you do happen to buy or get one of these for free make sure you maximize your value by claiming these when needed or doing a mobile refresh right before your subscription ends I plan on doing a mobile refresh just before my 1ear subscription ends to replace the battery or the screen pretty much as needed it's also why I'm not using a screen protector at the moment because now I can enjoy the properties of the original screen and how smooth it is knowing that I've got the Samsung Care Plus as an insurance backup let's wrap up this video with some final thoughts it's clear Samsung has once again delivered a flagship device packed with Cutting Edge features and enhancements the integration of Galaxy AI stands out and is the main selling point because these AI features are embedded into the applications I don't think it's Unique to the s24 and I think we'll soon see Galaxy AI released into older models as well the AI features covered are also existing features in the market that can be achieved via apps though it can be less convenient to use in the camera Department the s24 ultra maintains a four lens setup with a notable addition of a 50 megapixel lens with five times telephoto Zoom the camera's performance excels in capturing details producing vibrant indoor shots Cris portrait and impressive low light images Galaxy AI also takes center stage in the camera category introducing Advanced rendering of going from 10 to 100x zoom and AI editing tools that allow users to transform photos the video capabilities including 8K Ultra HD resolution and advanced image stabilization contribute to a top-notch multimedia experience moving on to display the screen's gorilla grass continues to make small enhancements to durability and minimizes glare under the hood the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 processor Powers the s24 ultra running on one UI 6.1 and Android version 14 the inclusion of Samsung care as a bonus feature adds value to the overall package offering services like device swapping mobile refresh and certified care in conclusion the Samsung Galaxy s24 Ultra stands out as a flagship Powerhouse combining Innovation and minor hardware and software enhancements whether you're a tech Enthusiast a creative professional or someone looking for a reliable daily driver the s24 ultra proves to be a worthy contender in the competitive phone market all right now for the big question do I actually recommend the s24 series now if you're due for a new phone I'd say yes however if you're only looking to upgrade just for the new features I'd say no if you're in a budget and you don't actually need the most powerful device for gaming or for the camera I would also recommend sticking with the s24 or the s24 plus over the
