G.A.K. WWII Style Canteen Cup With Lid

[Music] hey what's up guys this is Matt with the Napa hiker Channel and I just did a review of a canteen cook set from Rothko the other day and I wasn't too thrilled with it but I also got another canteen a cook kit this one I'm not really sure what it's called it says on there GAC G a K the GAC cooks it but it's also titled the world war 2 Styles American GI canteen cook set so this one is fantastic I absolutely love this one it's stainless steel it comes with a top that is actually vented it got one hole here and you got a series of holes on the top it fits unlike the rothko one this one fits perfectly absolutely perfectly it's got the old-style handle here so you pull it up there's a tab here you pull it down and it snaps it into place and this is just a fantastic stainless steel canteen cook set so what I'm going to do is I'm going to actually it's about I don't know ten degrees outside or so I'm going to light up a stove and we're going to cook up some top ramen and we're going to check this thing out in action together so anyway this is the as bit folding you know emergency stove that they sell for like three bucks and I have a for Coghlan hexamine tablets in there and I'm just going to boil up some water and make some soup one thing about this stove is it doesn't come or excuse me not the stove the cook kit it doesn't come with the stove but the American GI stove nest perfectly on it you can also use you know pretty much any variety of stove that you want if I like the simplicity of this stove made by by esbit out of all the stoves as it makes it's actually my favorite one all right let's get back when this is boiling up a little bit better so I just wanted to show you a couple of the features of this cook set here this cup one of the things that I find is really cool with this old style the World War 2 style is if this handle gets really hot like if you're setting it in the fire the way that you pick it up instead of just grabbing it and burning yourself there's actually a slick right in the back and you just pick it up just like this with a with a knife or with your eating utensils you know the soldiers would probably use you know their bayonets to do it I'm having trouble here because the ground underneath is starting to thaw out with the feet of the stove and so it's starting to sink down also you can see the vented on the top you see the d-ring which is in there really stiff which is nice it doesn't flop all around so you just put it in the up position and you have a you know you have that ready for you to and you pick it up and take it off really easily and I'm boiling up from water I'm going to put some Top Ramen in there the lunch of Champions I'm going to cook that up but all in all I like this it nest together perfectly it it's just a great little cook kit so when I'm planning on doing with it is since the GI stove fits on this I'm planning on taking one of my GI stoves putting it on there locking this around putting a piece of velcro around it and then I'm good to go then I could decide whether I want to use an alcohol stove or whether I want to use the hexamine toilet or I just want to you know build a fire under it so anyway this is the GAC the GAC 9000 and 26 is what it says on the top of the stove stainless steel I'm really impressed with it though I'm going to give you another angle there the stove these are the slits I was telling you about that you can put your utensil in and and move it around without touching it if it gets too hot see what I mean Christo's is sinking down into the ice we should have found a rock and maybe spot this one through a little bit better oh well it's about at a boil right now so I'm going to be enjoying this in a minute all right let's see how we're doing here looking good top ramens ready to munch those uh hexamine tablets pretty much have already burned out I think they're just kind of simmer in a little bit right now so anyway that's my review of this cup I know it's not you know totally exciting it's just a canteen cup but honestly I like it I like things that work really well and that I can use and enjoy for years to come and I really like the World War 2 style canteen cup but honestly I can't find this style too often out you know when I'm at gun shows and looking at surplus stores and everything so this is a replica I'm not going to lie and say that it's surplus it's not I think that it was made in China but this is good quality stuff at least this one is not everything that comes out of there as you know is but anyway that's my review dog Bluff Happy Trails
