welcome back to the studio i'm dracos this is cadrell we are moments away from champion select for our first game of the day mad versus youtube what incredible way to open the split in cajul i think i speak for both of us when i say it is good to be back oh yeah it's so good to be back it feels like it's been forever you know because of msi the led i want to see g2 play again g2 versus man i mean it's gonna be an interesting game right it's hard to set reasonable expectations for week one because you heard it on the desk on the one hand yeah teams won't hit the ground running on the other hand it's week one it's a brand new meta you heard all the new potential picks broken down maybe you watch lck lpl lcs there's a lot of different stuff happening so what does this first game really mean i guess is the question on my mind yeah you're seeing like nocturne rumble comps coming in gwen's coming in viego is even coming in and i think that max said it's really well it's like g2 i've never had this long over break in quite a while you know in between splits because they actually make the international event the first time and god knows how long right so they they're refreshed they've had a break they can come back they've maybe been screaming a lot harder than usual because they had a disappointing result in spring yeah and interesting of course to see what the adaptation is that's the other big thing on my mind obviously it's easy to set high expectations for these first week g2 and mad of course some of the few teams in our entire league that have not made uh drastic roster changes so we don't get to talk about that this game which is fine we're going to talk about the rest of teams over the course of the day but that does mean that we get to focus i think a bit more on the meta changes on the crazy picks coming out and if the games we saw in the lck today are any indication some champs might be stronger than other champs maybe should be permaband cough gwen cough i can't get over how broken this this jump is nuts with ignite top and then you've got the sunderer buffs coming in with things like estral and zinza rising up like tanks inside with sunfire frozen hearts getting buffed as you'll tank ezreal all these things there's still a few shades of the old patch with things like uh the rumble the diana all those kind of genres coming in but there's still new things which is really exciting but looking at the teams we just talked about g2 but mad lions just came off the back of a really good msi i think really good performance quite surprising i must say taking down one to five games yeah and still impressive of course and important to remember that this is the first time in a long time that someone not damn g2 or fnatic has been the champions alliance the only other team that has done so and while that might not feel like maybe maybe we've said that we said that one a lot we're going to say that one a lot i think it is important to note in the change up of things because i think the other question that's on a lot of people's mind and again it's week one so it's a bit early is whoa is this a flash in the pan or is cage would say a fish in the pan or is it is this the new era of other teams is it no longer just the g2 fanatic league we're gonna find out as we get the champion select for game one [Music] [Music] what a bump new season new champs like music five new songs for those lec music enthusiasts out there i'm sure uh kevin can uh give you the old tweet on twitter if you guys want to keep up with the music selection but the music maybe not as important as the picks in bands as we get a look into the g2 house thresh gonna be the first band away we'll see what's coming next yeah similar events coming out as you see across the world there's the gwen band already coming in caps has been playing that a lot in solo queue things like in the lck i've seen things like uh lee sin tam kench bland on the band on the blue side similar bands that we saw at msi just now gwen and viega are enabled right these champs are very powerful i'd say gwen more so than viego uh we've seen this champion first with a lot but renekton again still just as strong as he was at msi and the similar sort of priorities will come out just the item changes and the re-enabled champions kind of throw some some difference to them away of course and a lot of uh what we saw at msi as you mentioned previously will just be very very similar some of the new pixel of course we're expecting things like the ezreal to come through udyr remains uh relatively high priority it would appear in the draft yeah we'll see what they want to first pick here things like the varys are still strong ezreal it's a good match in a sense you've got things like the rumble open with audio already banned away from el yoja and mad lions with the last band here g2 on blue side which blue side had a lot of success at msi and i think the same thing is what we're going to see on this patch blue side obviously you can just target band and get the first choice of op the nocturne band is just because of the rumble right they don't want to give them knocked and rumble and just taking that away is important but they are going to go for the varus so we'll see what mad lions respond with like the varus of course we'll see what build is going to be halo blades taking a hit on this patch lethality has been all the rage but obviously a little bit less sustained damage output than the traditional attack speed virus we've seen on other patches yeah pope ferris still just as strong as always and that's always good paired with things like a time ken show just some kind of defensive engaged support um that can kind of appeal for varys so mad lion's gonna first of all take things like the lucian here humanoids lucian we saw it a lot of msi was banned away a lot and i wouldn't be surprised the oyo pick up the rumble it's an ap jungle right pair it with illusion really good team fighter already really good mid jungle tv too okay it's such a flip right when you come back to a new patch and a new meta and a new a new season essentially for league of legends the patch could be completely different but the good news for matt lions is they're essentially playing the same champions as they did when they were on stage for msi so not too much has changed for the team i think that's a very big boon overall but for g2 they've had a lot of time away how much do they want to adapt now hex flash remember is still not available this week so melee supports are slightly weaker than they would normally be are we gonna get it okay now this viego could go top jungle mid in a way i i guess you could kind of triple flex you'll have to see how far it goes into the draft i wouldn't expect g2 to give away their cards just yet they can pick support here or look to match mid with a good giveaway to viego flex and viego of course a very interesting champion we'll get a chance to talk about him more in game uh if you have some for some reason not played against this champion lucky you to be completely honest very frustrating very difficult to deal with but now the syndra locked in i like the strong priority pick for caps in the mid lane difficult champion to go toe-to-toe with but maybe humanoid solution could handle it yeah expect that viego to go towards top jungle now um i think diego has been a bit of a hard champion to kind of dissect we've seen people build shield bows sunderer things like this blades crack and slayer there's been loads of different builds coming out i think shield bow seems to be the most common alongside sunroof so it depends on which role it does go into but that's an astral matching to the varus which we expected and now we're going into the four five supports will probably be banned out away here and we'll see what they come out with things like leona alistar things like this tam kench for the barracks is really strong against divers like rumble and we'll see what they go what they opted to yeah you feel like tom kench has hit the bench madeline's taking it away would concede almost all lane pressure as well catch very weak the only real response they could have done there giving them time kench was perhaps go for an sro brown but true i'm not sure if you want to opt into that it's just uh you need more engage when you're playing things like the rumble going rumble brown it's not something you want yes it gives you a good botlane matchup but it doesn't round out your comp very well so taking it away is just a safer option and see if you can get something like the leona instead which is what you would ban away if you don't want to face things like the time kench yeah and again i don't want to harp on it too much but hex flash being disabled this week uh does certainly affect bot lane especially in the early lane phase very greatly we saw a lot how that biddle bush in the bot lane was a huge point of control just across all of last season with the rails with the leona's with a lot of these engaged champions and not having access to hex flash i think is going to slow down these bot lanes a lot so i like to see the tomcatch band away and now i wonder what aggressive supports are going to come out we did see the gragas in the lck the alistar a lot of the picks that we've kind of gotten used to yeah that's a karma band coming in so i think mad lions are signaling here for some kind of engaged mini support which would make sense with the rumble i think you're looking at things like leona here paired with the sril makes a lot of sense and g2 taking away the wukong i wonder if they're going to take away things like the gnar as well but it doesn't make sense to by the way that are in a way because you have blue side you have the blind pick yourselves and that will give them a last pick now which is not so much common it's more of like a counterpick as champion but it does give them good team fights so and armored is a really good nar player so it's more of a respect fan in a sense because if you target top lane once no they're not going to talk top lane twice they're going to take away leona like mentioned previously and now mad lions i think that's the champion they want to pair with estro rumble loads of setup right the solar eclipse and the real clips sorry it's the rumble equalizer it's just so much setup yeah you actually have a really solid amount of options there especially if you do want to round it out with something like a gnar pick to come through giving the luxury of counter pick though over to armada is definitely going to feel good hard to know in this meta the value of counter pick support in the past it was very very high value but you can see instead it's going to be the brom locked in now i like the synergy here you have evolution with the double tap you've got the ezreal q you can stack these stuns very quickly and very importantly it makes it that much harder for viego to get into your back line to find these resets these possessions which can be uh game defining actually just will always be game defining rather it's very strong rakan really good counter into things like the brown but that's gonna be a sins out so it's gonna be i'd expect a viego top here from g2 and now mad lion's kind of like a little bit of engage you say the esro brahms are really powerful lane you can block the varus poke block the syndrome so it's really good against their comp i think mad lines need to round it out with a good last pick sort of engaged top laner wukong's down so maybe nara is the answer there we'll have clg do you want to pick up for support i think rakan makes sense it's good into things like the brown or maybe they want to go for an enchanter root but you have got the zinza viego diving in so the rakan follow-up is definitely something you want and the reason rakan's going to braam is because he has no locks knock down cc you know rakhine into leona if you go in you get stunned you're probably going to die whereas against brown you can just dash in and dash out without actually getting cc'd so mad lions need a little bit more follow-up engage here with the rumble with the lucian interesting on the opposite side for g2 esports i like the recon good way to start fight syndra excellent follow-up or disengage options but of course i think naturally your eyes start to drift towards both the zen zou as well as the diego here and how they're going to fit into this picture now interestingly the j's coming in for arma hugely aggressive top lane pick but if he starts to get rolling on this top side wonder is going to be one miserable man yeah so what they've gone here for it's a one three one instead of engage right they're not going for too much team fight you have a lot of poke it makes sense in a way you have srj's with poke to set up round objectives you have pushing lanes on sides which you can collapse on that objective first and be there first for that setup so it doesn't matter if you don't have engage if the enemy team has to walk into you so really good setup really good pairing of champions here from mad lions you've got the ap jungle with the double ad solo laners you've got the one three one so it'll make sense g2 on the other hand you've got more of a teamfight esc oriented to comp you know zinza rakhan syndra is a really powerful team fight with a pogbaris i just need to keep my eyes on this viego because like you said if this viego gets a reset then you can turn into a rumble or illusion and start moving forwards into mad lines that could be deadly because you've seen va goes ultin get a reset ultin again get a reset again and just you just run away with the fights absolutely and ezreal and lucian are two of the best viego reset champions as they both have dashes as well as the uh the strength of uh all of luton's abilities chaining very well together with the viego passive so naturally we'll keep our eyes on the new picks on the new champions but a lot of things remain to be seen here will some of the newer strategies from g2 coming in work out how powerful is ezreal in the hands of a player like carsey who had such a fantastic msi let's find out as we get to the first game of summer g2 esports versus mad lions [Music] i said it once before i'll say it again it's good to be back and it's very good to be back mad lion's actually surprising comp before we get into it i didn't expect them to go for kind of like a one three one come by i see mad lions it's more of a team fight oriented to intercom so team sorry so we'll have to see how they dissect this game but i think top lane is gonna be very volatile i think top lane is something important to to look at in general i think you're completely right viego obviously a bit of an unknown now if you've watched viego a lot internationally you've probably seen a lot of different games there are games where viego completely pops off he gets ahead early and he absolutely dominates and there are games where he sits quietly until a single late game team fight where he finds one or two resets and can uh change the entire fate of a game essentially fade a bit of a melodramatic word but i think it fits well with the character yeah and another thing to look at his mid jungle right he's got zinza syndra on one side revolution on the other so a lot of firepower in both the mid jungles we'll see how they use that 2v2 to play for these side nets now of course early game we are going to be checking out bot lane a little bit as well as we're actually gonna have to watch a lot of lanes here a lot of new matches we haven't seen in a while but when we talk about bot lane we got very used to talking about reckless mickey x you know how powerful how incredible was this bottling going to be in spring unfortunately they kind of fell quietly out of playoffs and an msi you know a new fantastic 80k player rose up and carsy man had an incredible tournament and uh here not quite a stun on the level one but played fantastically and not just an msi i think against g2 in the playoffs i think he had a fantastic performance if not the best series of the entire playoffs was against g2 and he was the one taking over so definitely a player to keep your eyes on i think he's improved so much even in interviews he was saying like ever since we came to msi ever since we um started playing here i've improved so much more i've learned so much more against these teams so we'll see if you can show it in this game here there's no pressure and obviously on the opposite side you know him you love him it's none other than reckless we'll check in on the mid lane in a second but rek was a guy that bit of a disappointing finish you know the one change to the g2 esports lineup expected to be a massive upgrade and the one split where they fell out now unfair of course to put that blame on him obviously always going to be a team game but someone that we have to keep our eyes on for g2 is if g2 falls flat again it is going to leave a lot of questions setting up if cops get the stun here good son could follow bienko's easy point click move in now i'm going to flash forward a second auto third and gets the first blood game over i like it that's the power of sins zinza level three doesn't even have the red buff commits to the gank the stun follow-up was really clean and just good execution first blood for the sins out not even with hail of blades with conqueror right doesn't have that early game rune just helps him so much with this kill because rumble farms faster so sinza wants to be active and make things happen for summoners to force lane priorities in this case he gets a kill and he gets the flash so that really really helps out mid and even though he's behind on clear now the gold will make up for it absolutely and frankly historically i have always loved jankos as a ganky champion player he's done okay in the format you can see over time that it was something that he's adapted to and improved at but ganking always feels like it has been yanko's specialty on the opposite side though el yo no surprise and a little bit of a camp lead for now as he didn't go for that gank but you can see wonder already pathing down leaving lane trying to maybe disrupt some of el yo-yo's early plans and something to note here if you if you look at the previous patch where the jungle timers were only two minutes eliot could threaten yankov's top camps here but because they formed they spawned 15 seconds later jankos can kind of clear his camps out bot side and base he's got more time to work with so these farming genres can't punish you as much against these slower clearer junglers and now yankov's actually going to skip krug so he's actually skipping a camp to keep up in tempo with a little yoyo i like it one camp deficit not gonna be too bad the gold of course going to be made up for by that first kill and iron spike whip gonna be that much faster on the aoe clear something zenzo loves to have so so far so good for g2 in the early game it's only about a 500 gold lead but that will start to add up and meanwhile on the top lane very even for viego early on which feels pretty good yeah definitely ops into the door and shield was forced out to use a potion but still has the tp the waves bouncing into him so that's really really helpful and cancelling armor's base just buys him more time looks like he just wants to push this to get a little bit of gold maybe so when he tp's back maybe he wants to opt in for plated steel caps or more of a tank-oriented item to survive through the lane but i think if you just look at the game state right now look at the anchors he's around mid two wards above the top side of the map humanoid mickey's on the bottom side they're doing this pincer move into mid which g2 was so famous for last year especially sending three members to mid lane it is a g2 classic the humanoid is playing incredibly safe yanko's walking down with the control ward they're trying to figure out if they've been spotted here yeah look what mad lions are doing they're responding pretty well kaiser has just come out of base to mid el yojo's right behind him they need to retake some kind of vision here because humanoid could get three man though guys are now coming in he's gonna block a decent amount of damage and go standing off to the side the turn and burn not quite enough humanoid still burning still ticking down but oyo wants to fire back and he's gonna grab jankos humanoid just barely managing to live yeah that's huge especially because he doesn't have tp he can pick up this wave and he gets an assist jankos does fall and they can't take humanoid down but they responded really well to g2's pincer move mickey went towards the top side of mid placed wards then he was hovering on the bot side while jankos was on the top side so if humanoid gave up the wave he would be too far behind if he got dove he would die but mad lions are there to respond certainly are like the heads up play from kaiser mickey burning a lot of his own time yankos as well caps of course uh bit probably a bit frustrated with that one not able to find the kill onto humanoid see if you can get anything else done here on the bottom side but of course the difficulty is is that karzai is the ezreal while you can certainly push him in a very difficult champion to do anything to while he is under tower yeah let's look at that again because it looked like humanoid made a mistake here he stepped up way too far when allyo's going towards his camp gets stunned up gets knocked up and jankos does come in in time but he doesn't have the damage to finish off humanoid takes the tower shots and the brown passive eliot finished him off and g2 level three rakans already used the knock-up caps already used the stun there was no more real firepower in that fight for them as elijah shows towards the top side there i think he was just pushing out the wave because armored had no vision and he wanted to make sure he was safe but look at mid again colin used humor very low on man and mickey's still stepping forward keep in mind he has the ignite decent amount of damage if he does connect on the combo but we'll back away and in the meantime as top lane is pushed in very big cs lead for el yoyo now maybe not as big as it appears because a few of those creeps could have been taken from the top side might not just be camp cs but definitely solid as level six has come through first yeah an important thing to note here just look at the jungle items right elia has the sorcerer shoe so he can move around the map quite quickly and he's going to clear his cams faster than yankos regardless whereas jankos has the iron spike whip and he's down a level so that means el yoja has way more time to spend on the map he can clear his camps faster be around the river faster be around the lanes faster so jankos has to play kind of a keep up game or he has to be the one to make the plays first something we'll track first gank very successful for jankos of course responding in kai with the counter gank mid with the help of kaiser so far supports jungle really been the center of the action as jankos now once again returns to the bottom side let's see what he can get done here still level five i wonder if he's covering this because he knows elijah's respawns on the bot side of the map i think he might level up from the wave and that's why he's standing in xp range we'll see if he does but i think the interesting thing here is wunder is surviving top side he has a 10 cs lead and he still has teleport so he's doing really well on top side jankos does level up so he's just leaching a bit of xp there and covering the gank just in case he counts his recall a few times here but i expect him to back off once this wave does start to slow push in and then you can head towards the top side where the rift herald is spawning soon keep continuing to poke it back here they're trying to get wave priority they got yankees to back them up so it's a good look and as mentioned top win for now staying even but with mickey resetting with yanko's resetting g2 can now pick where they want to make their next play blue buff pass over to caps feels like it would be the decision for yankos yeah but jankos used a lot of time in that bot side didn't he i mean eloy has just been clearing his camps he probably will hit level seven off that red buff he's so far ahead in camps already and yankos is gonna have to give away that blue buff so it's gonna be a time before he can catch up wonder surviving in the top side though like said previously he's heading cs still has the tp and mickey x harold spawned let's push out bot together base together move towards the top side keep this top side vision keep caps with the push in mid keep control around mid and that means we can start harold whenever we want something to keep track of as well obviously the gold looks dead even but observers if we can swap over to individual gold important to note some of the discrepancies you can see the deficits you're talking about in the jungle starting to pull ahead viego despite not having a coal of his own starting to pull ahead of the j so we'll keep an eye on these individual differences even when the gold is just about dead even across the board yeah ankle's going to go give away this blue buff and reckless and cars here just kind of farming in both sides this is a 4x4 on the top side of the map now rumble is up illusion is pretty strong but wunder is going aggressive on top side invisible manages to find the stun but of course still taking a lot of damage here he's forced to use the alt to get away now that's the equalizer coming down flash burned that really really hurts for wondering he might be mickey has no way to get out the chain cc is ruthless humanoid gonna grab that kill yeah i don't know why g2 are trying to contest this in a way yes you have vision but it feels like mad lions are just ahead in xp and in tempo i mean elio are stronger than yankos wunder loses out in the one v on top i don't know if that's just miscommunication and then mickey x is level four kaiser's level six there's so much more firepower for mad lions they're starting up the herald i think they're just making sure armored could crash that top wave but the ankles hit contest caps is level eight the humanoid's right behind him he has to be careful jankos can try to body block and try to protect here and cap certainly has enough self peel but they really can't afford to contest this one wonder has no ultimate now keep in mind if he manages to steal the soul heal he can't get the reset janko's now trying to move in that's the knockout wondering moving to this everybody beard has so much damage if he can find the reason he can turn the fight he gets the reset now the alt is back available he takes the wonder though not the jace or the rumble though not the jace wonder now moving in that's gonna be the stun that's gonna be the follow-up kaiser no flash available he should just get walked down here maybe the slow is enough camouflage could come out here in a moment from wonder but mickey gonna go in gonna get the ignite the tick down kizer a mad lad can he do it oh makes it back to the base yeah just about lives g2 take the fight because mad lions take so much time to take down the herald i think they were very very cautious around top side making sure armored could push in and then he could move reckless might be in trouble here ultimate comes out used early the heel will follow as well heads up play from reckless has to be willing to aggressively burn those summoners just to get out yeah so let's take a look at this again because this looks like a bit of a 2v4 at the start but because my lines are split up humanoids zoned away look what yankov starts he moves into the bot side and goes into fog that means humanoid has to back up and then just engage three man on top side humanoid look at him on the screen he's completely zoned away he can't really join the fight so it was a 3v3 mad lions didn't have ultimates kaiser used it elio used it good identification from g2 good punish you saw him focus on the jace armour died they managed to take down all yoyo at the same time as well but they were focusing on getting a reset for the viego they win the fight but mad lions still get the herald and this is one of the big struggles of playing against viego right is that no matter how far behind or ahead the viego is a single reset can change the entirety of a fight in this case he grabs the rumble who's probably the strongest individual member on man right now it's the rumble it's a good look and as we get later in the game these resets are going to become more and more threatening so while matt had the man advantage felt like they were ahead in the play overall the viego alone turns it and now the tp coming top side one trying to move back into the camouflage a tp now match if they get the reset under armour before the tv finishes though it's gonna be a big deal that's gonna be the reset wonder now coming through he can steal the chase he's got the cannon form and he's going to back away but they're knocking him up they're knocking him down unstoppable but the bomb concussive blows make it work humanoid grabs the kill yeah good response again for medlines caps might burn down here elliot is here oh spear from downtown you gotta respect it mad lions firing back bad lions are just first to play all the time they had they had kaiser and el yoyo moving top side as the tps were being channeled so it was a 2v2 into a two before mad lions come away with the winning play there they're going to herald onto the top side to give humanoid some plate gold and although g2 was ahead in gold in in tempo but it looks like madeline's responded well and the game's just even up yanks are trying to move in here tp now coming in this is a huge commitment of resources it's wonder moving in so if they get a single reset this is gonna be disaster humanoid coming out excellent target for wonder going to try to follow up with the tower here still too big of a threat for them to get anything else yeah look at the bot side armor tp down looks like he's getting a few plates for himself so they're responding on this side of the map lots of cross map plays lots of responses coming out you can see g2 and mad lions fighting toe to toe every single time a fight breaks out either team is just either responding or making sure they get something on the side of the map i mean it's it's incredible to watch i did not expect both of these teams to be in such peak form today that they would be able to respond to each other so rapidly across the map so consistently and now we look at this play starts off pretty solid for the side of g2 yeah but look at the mini map you can see kaizen and elijah already on the way up jankos is in base mickey hasn't even moved out of mid because he was trying to freeze the wave so although g2 get the first kill they just need to back off here i think it's just poor communication because wunder thinks he can take the fight humour and kaiser turn it el yo is already there and by the time this plays happen yankos is not even close the thing that you can see is that wonder almost instantly flashes out but the concussive blows from humanoid uh and kaiser was procked almost instantaneously it looked like a point-and-click stun so it just doesn't seem like there was enough time there for wonder to react caught a bit off guard yeah and if i'm gonna bring up the mini map here look at the vision g2 have on the top side they have wards behind towers pink wards all the vision that wunder needs to shut down this jason i think that's really important you can see them tping behind the j's playing towards the top side a little bit after getting caps ahead because if the jace is behind g2 have a much easier time playing over side lanes certainly will and while the eclipse is finished it's gonna be very hard to do much to wonder once he has the immortal shield bow and keep in mind jace very difficult champion to team fight with viego without his ulti or his passive also not very good in team fights but he's always going to have both those available when it matters that said first dragon of the game interestingly 13 minutes 30 seconds the first time we see a drake focus the first time we see a drake prioritized it will be the infernal for mad yeah there wasn't much focus towards the bot side i mean rakhan brown s joel varus there really wasn't much there until level six at best but even then the game's too fast pace you have to play towards top side you have to play towards mid and herald and get those lanes ahead sindra zinzal diego jace these champions lucian need to be ahead so making sure you put the resources towards mid-top sides more important than trying to find bot lane advantages although reckless did get two plates on that bot tower in the 1v1 all the 4b4s have been pretty even hanging around yoga now who's going to get knocked up solid game coming in here from the side of g2l yoyo burned down in an instance fantastic chain cc from g2 finding that pick finding that opportunity yeah really good play and the vision stands from top side just early on like a minute ago we were talking about el yo has no vision g2 have full vision so they can afford to make those plays oh yeah had the flash but it does save it because the rakan came out he knew if he flashed he was probably gonna die anyway human right now gonna grab a side lane turret but i think it's important we talked about oh yeah he was the man who was everywhere he needed to be in this early game really so much the reason that matt were able to find footing but now getting caught out there now you can see mad lion slowly slipping away really needs to find an impact further in this game especially only level nine jankos now level 10 ketchup xp yes but also kills coming through gore drinker now picked up and oh yoga hopefully you can get a bit more done in the fights to come yeah i'm gonna bring up the map one more time just to show you guys the cross map so you saw g2 have all that top side vision they got top tower and they made a pick on elliot but look at bot side the red vision that mad lions had humanoid was able to take bot towers so you can see no matter where the player is happening mad lions are either cross mapping or responding even though you got picked off there they still managed to get something on the map and i think that's really important to note and the humanoid of course naturally i think becomes the player that we have to watch cajole because the 131 cannot live without at least one strong side lane right now armada is behind he's not going to feel as comfortable in that individual matchup humanoid is the strong point in this 131 for mad lions if they want to keep pressure up they need to keep humanoid ahead of the competition but the important thing is right both these solar lane split pushers are a.d heavy lucian chase look at diego look at wonders build he's got the played steel caps to shield though if he can get one or two more items i think he's going to be able to win off on these side lanes if mad lions can't get there so lanes even further ahead natural sustain coming in from viego as well blade of the rune king third very obnoxious champion to shut down if you ever have to move into melee combat that said braum in the area humanoid waiting over the wall wonder gonna do what he can to try to stop this one but the tower is going to go down stealth now coming out but wonder will not come out of the mist except to form the creeps here so g2 can back away as the second herald has spawned and perhaps to see mad lion start this one up they are certainly in position to do so caps on the bottom side yes is an opportunity to push back but he's just not going to do that much to the tower again cross map can't match the play let's get something on the opposite side of the map caps doesn't have tp just yet if he did i think mickey would have stayed and they would have fancied a 5v5 at this point because of how strong viego is and sinzal but it looks like they're just going to give it up and i think g2 are just going to get the information that cap's going to push in waves mad lions are going to lose golden bolts and on mid waves they're not going to get the bot tower because syndra taking towers this early in the game is very difficult so they don't net themselves a tower but they get a couple waves a little bit of an xp advantage for who's now just picked up his mythic item caps has a cs lead but he does not have a gold lead the extra kill reigning out in favor of humanoid as well as some of those early plates have to see how mad lions can use this second herald is moments ago they were about 2k gold behind but they started now to even things up yeah definitely and see how they get into this one through one i think you'll start to see it come out now that the tier ones are starting to fall armored going towards what humanoid towards the top side push season and move towards mid where you'd expect them to use the herald i have to admit this game has been very good so far in terms of macro play i again we heard from both coaches mac you know want to make sure the mad lines peak at the right time don't want to burn your players out g2 first time they've had a chance for vacation you know i wasn't sure what level we would see from both of these teams but they are firing on all cylinders they are definitely firing all cylinders and both side lane towers are down for g2 that's important to note mad lines still have their bots here once that means armored can push all the way to bots or two and if they can secure some kind of top side vision humor can push into all the way into top tier two but that's gonna be very risky and very difficult with g2's current setup i'll be coming out but going wide you can see the damage already coming in from cars he just some of these cheeky cues looking towards the man immune but already having the divine thunder are certainly going to feel good if you missed it decent buffs to the item in the patch more max health damage more healing and if you know ezreal is a champion any time machine item is good ezreal is essentially broken which is why you're seeing him uh here yeah sunderer buffs frozen heart as well well interesting see if we can get that one but capps is tp'ing mid here i think they just want to force me because he saw two members both maybe they can look for a pick or try to collapse onto mad lions here jankos can't go in on the humor he's just going to dash away mickey really their only reliable engage option at this stage though is rekkles has burned the ultimate already not too far off cooldown but cars are already just starting to rain down a bit of poke and ulti coming across we'll have both reckless and caps there's the power of the one through one though look at armored on the bot side he has the herald that bot tier two's gonna fall g2 needs to respond to their ball tier three but the dragon spawning in 15 seconds they have to make a choice here send wonderbot defend this tier three and then maybe we can fight drake you can see caps tp mid so they can get the mid priority so they can get the vision and this mid-tier one we'll see if they can contest the drake though we'll commit heal now coming out just a fairy cats out to safety kaiser waiting off in the wings eyes on el yo that's a level two equalizer that can come down arma already on the flank of the perfect pitch to collapse on if you wants to commit waiting on the ultimate for now cap's burning ticking mickey going to save him as much as he can caps will walk away that's it i don't think they can contest it now cap's got chunked out too much and that's the power of mad lion's comp it's not that strong in the straight up 5v5s perhaps as g2s is but they have a lot of poke s real jace with a rumble elusion culling there's a lot of things that g2 have to be careful of and that's why cap seeped mid because they didn't have any vision on the bot side of the map and if they could get that mid tower and get some vision then there's a world where they can contest the drake but if mad lions have the setup and they can push in both like we just saw and we talked about in draft and then move the objective first then they can just poke you out there's no real like force engage the g to have other than the rakan flash but without vision it's very difficult to find that in cadre i love it because one of the biggest team fight threats in this game is the viego again a single reset for viego in a team fight is essentially a one fight for g2 unless they immediately kill this champion so forcing wonder to be the one that has to respond on this side lane and then trying to prioritize on that small but crucial window of opportunity is fantastic from mad lions yeah definitely look at wonders bill just going for full armor it's got the bramble best now as well so the side lane i would favor wonder i mean if you can get the setup in the vision he should be able to win out on the sideline armored has got a lot of gold he has got the two items but if he keeps building these tanky items things like the death stance perhaps then he should win out but g2 are struggling a little bit on both sides when one is not pushing the other is from that line so it's very difficult to juggle those side lanes but now they have the top push they've got the top side vision maybe they can make a player of their own good to highlight the wonder is still very strong armada sitting comfortably for now one of the big weaknesses of viego in this context of course is when you see him there's not a lot of real ways for him to get on top of you as the jace you back up you walk away you're only there for the creeps so wonder can't really find the duel he's looking for half the same mad lions are playing this fantastically humor just completely dropped top side ran mid tried to gank bot now they have double tp on these solo liners if they could kill wonder even if g2 start up baron they're both gonna tp in and it's gonna be a number advantage for mad lions then he moved towards mid lane he dropped these top waves and tried to fall so you can see mad lions no matter where g to go you can see all that pressure towards the top side they were looking for a bot gank they were looking for the mid tower so there's always these pressuring lanes and g2 have to juggle these ones we wants around to make sure that they can push mad lions out to stop them getting anything and then make the play of their own it's cleanly legends and i have to say it one more time we expected mad lions vacation this team has had significantly less time to practice on the patch than any other team but it seems like as expected from a team that went to msi that played so much against international competition that had these massive uh stage best of fives up against dan one mad lions have improved significantly since the last time we saw them remember in playoffs this was the team that fell behind and had to team fight their way out of uh their finals performance they had a rough game five it was a massive turn team fight that it all for them being able to play a one three one out cleanly is a completely different look for matt yeah the struggle is the viego just wins on side too much so matching things like the like wonder on side lane with jace or lucian you're just gonna struggle so this bot lane is gonna be a bigger and bigger issue as the game goes on i think g2 definitely favored in the current position they've kept baron control on top side you can see the pinks around the nash they've kept that top side vision and they denied any kind of split push opportunities from mad lines now mad lines need to make sure they execute the one two one but gt's composition is very powerful fights very quick at starting baron and trying to force it with viego and should win oversight if they can cover wunder they can absolutely delete a bear if they get the time of course for mad lions and 131 comps in general if you get a baron something normally hard to do for these style compositions is they lack a true tank you take over the map it is so hard to play against a baron duff one three one but getting that baron feels impossible right now with g2 controlling division trying to keep some pressure in mid lane and someone who's been very quiet this game was reckless right he tried that ultimate in mid to pick out uh karzia i believe it was but other than that he's just been clearing out mid waves now this pokevirus is sitting at two items and will do a lot of damage to a comp with no tank right setting up around these dragons which is the third one in one minute thirty if he can poke them out before mad lions can get the setup then maybe g2 can be the one to face check but all these pinks that madeline's have makes it so hard for g2 to walk in just like we talked about earlier again a lot of g2's team fighting power comes from viego and his reset so they need to be able to get damage down that's part of why the poke varus and the syndra are so strong in this composition but when mad move in hold that thought you're now backing off there's no stealth though humor can just dash forward that's the ulti coming out colin it's gonna be the shield burned armour off to the side from downtown but the side step with under is clean he will walk away and not gonna go for that either that red buff is so strong on the lucian window just has to give it up didn't have any vision the hermit was around and you can see what mad lines are doing when you think of one three one you think of one person top one person bought but what humanoid's doing is he's juggling top waves you can see based now he's gonna catch it he's gonna push it out a little bit and he's gonna go through mid again back to bot and try to keep ganking wonder and that's how they're keeping the spot push if they weren't doing these kind of plays then wunder would be able to push it all the way in and g2 would be able to take the vision but because humanoid just keeps pushing on top and basing and going bot they can keep the pressure on both side again i'm really just waiting to see an opportunity for g2 to come back into this game with the way the mad lions are playing hard they need to hit those varsas they need to hit those long range scout of the weeks to find these picks to kick things off but wonder on the flank maybe that will be enough they're not waiting in the darkness humanoid not in the area this is their chance to go in if they want to but matt lyons smartly pulling back yeah they have the bot push now they get the mid push now g2 are the ones who can get the setup this is really important if they can be the ones to just pull the trigger before they get chunked out by rumble or jsqez or ezreal then they should be favored wonders on the side it's gonna be big he's gonna try to start to the stun maybe he can get all yoyo or cars he that's gonna be the big target that's the rumble now locked up gangsters in the midst of everything just isolated cars he making sure cards you can't do damage now that's the shutdown if wunder lives through this fight he gets the reset now he's the rumble he can move through if he needs to ghost going in humanoid going down g2 have taken the fight as expected and now they turn for the dragon yeah madeline's a little bit split up there and g2 just pulled the trigger there was no vision difference there they just went for the straight five five and wunder had a really good position caught out del yoyo and he got the reset that was so important human tried to salvage the fight by flashing over and trying to get reckless but rekkles was really high on health and uh caps capturing records was able to take him down they deny the third dragon now g2 should be able to pick up the baron as well should be able to bring the foot down quickly yanko's on the way viego going to be the most important factor here shreds through these neutral objectives especially with all that sustain just to keep him healthy rahm in the area would be america steal from kaiser does not look like it's going to happen g2 getting baron is a big deal a gold lead as well to back them up wonder getting stronger and stronger things are looking good for g2 esports oh yeah he should have three items now he has the baron he should win out on the sideline look look at this fight again i think wunder's positioning is important and mad lions don't have vision to play on mickey has full vision forces cars into flash now let's watch wonder take down all yoya yankos engaging there but look at humanoid armored on the top side they're completely split and then humor tries to save the fight here but as soon as he's getting old just flashing over the wall and trying to get reckless but at that point no matter what he does the fight's pretty much lost he can't escape after getting rooted mad lions way too split up and g2 find the engage yeah desperation strikes for the side of mad lyons getting caught out like they're very difficult of course the cinderella following him over the wall a lot of damage and now the red bull baron power play backing up g2 esports 131 very strong you get champions that naturally get leads you use it to just keep building leads to get further and further ahead but once your team falls behind cadre it feels so hard to play these comps out yeah definitely because your wave clear is really low as well i mean astral can clear waves but against burned up creeps you don't have things like you know a saber or jinx or a caitanya these long-range champions with some kind of cc or setup or aoe wave clear to just take it down astral will struggle to clear out the waves you can see the ultimate coming out to try and you just look at this position he can't go and go too far forward mad lines trying to pressure top side maybe answer a tier two with two tier twos of their own try to trade off something if they can because they know they can't hold the base even if humanoid was in this mid or in bot side he won't be able to hold the tower anyway so let's at least try to get something reckless with the proudest now cars he's been locked up they're going to burn him down all too easy the tournament equalizer does a lot of work there maybe they can turn it back on the caps wonder off to the side though looking for the reset fishing for something going invisible now he's going to continue his focus on this tower but arnold now going to be the one in trouble big damage coming in for the va go unstoppable in the back half of the altitude but they go in they've locked him up under tower but it's not enough he resets what is this champion he will get taken down in the end but g2 burning through that box here yeah resets don't drop tower aggro so he gets taken down but reckless with the prowess claw ultimate on the currency on the israel manages to get the kill follow-up from mickey really good well played mechanically from reckless secures the push once one member falls like carsey the push just doesn't stop two and hip's gone yank also a humanoid i think the game might be over here to push in gonna push down yanko starts ultimate available too so we could just leap in that's gonna be the dash go in ulti just to make sure he stays safe g2 still pushing down still focused but interestingly going to back off here yeah i'm gonna back off did i want to risk it kaiser's up arm was up in eight and they were a little bit chunked up but let's look at that again the proudest club ultimate on the creep i think cars he was not expecting that one does he don't do it on the last ranged minion win to the ultimate kharsi gets hit mickey follows up and cars he falls the siege comes through did not think lethality vars was a very mechanical champion but that was sick that was sick that was very sick and we've been talking all game about how well mad lions were responding to keep the 121 upright but g2 as soon as you get one fight you just break the game open with viego on the sideline with hard engage with things like the rakan syndra it's really hard for madeline to clear any creeps they tried to trade off but they kept themselves in it after losing that top fight around herald and diego being so far ahead they managed to juggle themselves in the mid game he tries it again but humanoid is going to dash away they juggled themselves pretty well in the mid game but g2 just cracked the game open they did and that's the thing about about caps and reckless right now is they just do so much single target damage that if a single member of mad lions mispositions into a grouped g2 they will get popped so quickly wonder will get a reset and it's easy for g2 to take these team fights but now as they push in on the top side tier two it'll be the equalizer to deny the push for now madeline's just trying to buy time trying to buy space and slow the pressure coming out from g2 yeah g2 have full-time minion hips so top and nips the last one but going five-man top is not the play you can see jankos hovering around the mid-bot side making sure the waves crash making sure the waves push in armored managed to push out bots all the way to g2's base so they have a lot of time to work with here if mad lions can poke out g2 maybe there's a world where they can defend this we'll have to see what happens though because mickey has flash he could pull the trigger whenever and mad lions with the jace can kind of clear waves now let's see what happens right off the side but jacob's right in his face he's going to go over the pancake you're going to follow mickey's there with a follow-up cc as well there's going to be another charm coming in mickey just too clean this game reckless finding a kill off to the side everybody on matt is just getting torn to pieces g2 are ruthless matt finding kills across the map but not enough as we get into this late game it is all g2 all the time armor could not find his montage moment as g2 now push in and will end their first game in the summer season taking a game over the current lec champions will they decide to look for poke it's still 20 seconds on mad line so i think they're probably going to end it here they do have a lot of bursts if someone wants to respawn but they're just going to emote instead and take the first wing of this win of the split faces of elation from g2 esports feeling good after that one or maybe just another day at the office for a team that's been practicing over the course of the off season and i have to say i wasn't sure how g2 were going to come back in that one but you called it out wonder on the sideline with that viego became scarier and scarier and all it took was that fight around dragon for this game to end in the favor of g2 esports yeah no by no means the mad lions have like a huge lead to the point so i thought okay madeline's running away with this game they just had really good macro to deny g2's win condition with the viego being ahead and that's what kept him in the game but eventually one fight just cracked the game open g2 i mean they look in top top form again i think that's the pressure of a one three one is you if you make a mistake against a composition that can out fight you it's really really hard to come back from that of course your kia player of the game at least on twitter wonder caps mickey x oh it's a hard one huh because everyone was playing for caps when there was i'll give it to when they do it first building a lead on his own against a jace in lane now i'm not the biggest expert on that up but generally the champion with range does better so uh good on wonder that said mickey pretty much was the reason all those team fights went so well at the end of the game yeah it's hard to jump to a conclusion in the best of one thank you so much for joining me in your new interview setup here at g2 how are you doing uh hello um i'm doing fine i think this game was actually yeah i mean honestly i'm just fine that was the question right so i'm just fine yeah that is great that is great now second question for you you got to draft viego in the first game which is not something i expected to see so early what did you think of matt's decision not to ban the champion and as a jungler how strong do you think viego is right now uh well i do think that as much as if you are lacking the game and diego doesn't have like a huge bag that totally ruins the champion he will be strong it does happen sometimes though that the champion is not very usable but besides that i do think he's good he's very fun to watch right he can uh get the resets like katarina but even better because he takes the soul um besides we also expected mud lions to not be able to play vienna gwen or viego since they just came back from msi and they didn't really scream a lot um so we wanted to abuse the champions that they were not so familiar with that was very clever and yeah it's something that mac mentioned before the game the screen schedule and the fact that they took more games and less games than usually you didn't go to msi uh actually not to bring any bad memories but you're actually nice i'm sorry about that but you actually had more time off for for once to just maybe reflect on spring and get ready for summer how did you use this time off uh well i was mostly screaming playing different games being scared a lot and also playing solo queue i think it was kind of nice time it was time to just think about your own performance writing about why did you play bad in playoffs as a team or as an individual besides that preparing for a summer split and i feel like the break did do us good but we have to remember that in spring split of 2021 we also were clearly the best team but as soon as playoffs came around we lost both goku and madeline so as much as the spring split matters like this sorry the summer split will matter like the regular season uh we really have to brace ourselves for playoffs and i'm just trying to improve the team right yeah lots of learnings and you seem to be back on track and you also brought in someone new in the coaching staff nelson and i was wondering what does he change to the whole g2 dynamic when it comes to work and uh yeah screen perspective um i mean without claiming grabs too much i think that nelson is actually a good coach so i think he brings a lot of knowledge from china and things that we didn't do it's not even about him knowing more than us or less than us i just feel like he has different perspective of playing the game as well and he brings a lot of things that we just didn't think about and new concepts that we can use in games so i feel like so far he has been really really useful and i love this guy and i do think that our performance today was really bad um compared to what he would expect us to do so uh he's probably not very happy with us as the other coaching staff is very happy with us as well right because if israel wouldn't decide that we should win this game we would not win this game or like we would struggle more maybe but karzai i guess decided we should win and just eden um but yeah i mean i do think there's still a lot to improve on especially after this game and i'm still happy with some of our changes in the early game and how about the idea how to play league of legends uh but there's a lot to work on still well that's gonna be an interesting review for you guys maybe but still strong showing for g2 in the first game jankos thank you so much for the interview and good luck on the two remaining games for taken aback actually by the yankos interview basically just saying well if they didn't decide that we could win this game we couldn't have won this game what is your perspective on the way g2 won this game uh i would say that it was a bit back and forth right like g2 did have a pretty decisive fight uh around the the drake a little bit later on into the match but this was a close one i think as far as like tracking what was going on in the game i was pretty impressed like how the supports were moving around the map being sort of at every play right before they they went down cadrell mentioned on cast how good humanoid was it going top lane resetting going down bot lane to influence so there was still really high level map movement concepts i think that were able to be executed upon even if jankos wasn't as happy with the individual performance across the team okay i think that makes a lot of sense let's look at the picks and bands and then what's been discussed already at length the fact that viego did go through yanka's also saying uh our adaptation because we know they wouldn't have scrimmed that much they would probably now go for the viego and the gwen i thought that was very interesting and then you can't blame him of course for picking this strong champion in the top sure yeah and and madeline's went with something that we saw a lot of frankly at msi you know this idea of playing not very hard engage style champions more poke champions long range the rumble in the jungle lots of scaling elements and a lot of teams at msi the top level teams made it work really well mad lines even had some uh good games with it but when they were playing the best teams in the world with this type of style they weren't able to find victories on it become and it's down to the fact that it's very sharp composition what i mean by that is that it's one of those comps that's so strong when it's doing everything it needs to do but just one or two things go wrong you get engaged upon you go into a fight too early and everything starts to crumble i love the way you put that indeed and that might also signal to us that the mad lions are taking learnings for msi knowing this is something that we need to perfect and be able to play if we want to be flexible come the playoffs here in the lec and maybe also worlds let's talk a little bit about the early game move specifically yanko's finding himself on the xin zhao and going for those early ganks talk to me about the opportunity but also the cost of playing this style well with the jungle changes jankos is glad to be back on a champion that can have this early game influence just three camps in he's level three he goes mid lane it's a very easy gank to find the kill on and frankly something that humanoid is not too used to having happen for him and well you need to get the early kills to have a big impact on this xin zhao but then you see g2 try to capitalize on that early investment they spend so much time around this mid lane mickey's on wards what happens el joya and kaiser come around and if you are playing one of these farming champions notice el yoya level five giancas is level four kaiser is in the area too to try and come around this mid lane and counter attack if you're able to lead the opposition you come in with better stats with more of an advantage and you see that mad lions can battle back a bit after that play el yoy i think was up 20 cs and over the game gradually yankers was able to catch up and even go ahead of elliot at a point later on but you can see this idea that when you play his more volatile early game junglers it can swing very heavily and get out of control that it can then as you say elvia did come back mad lions were also able to pull off some moves and some ganks into the top lane that gave them some kills and gave them some pressure also the herald but it all came down to this drake fight by g2 which was the second drake pretty late rakes overall in this game ender what was the capital mistake mad lions made maybe playing against this g2 com oh you can see it right now they're just very split away human and armor can't get much done of anything when you saw in the earlier drake situations it was madeline's taking control over the river first and you kind of need to have that when you're playing this composition that maybe can't check into brush as easily that can get split up by the engaged tools of g2 because g2 was always going to struggle if they had to come in late but when you have stuff like flanks from you know a rakan or we even saw from the viego in that fight or you find the enemy team running into a various ultimate that's exactly where g2 are going to feel at their strongest since because they got mid prio and into that river first that they were able to find the attack and split apart mad lions and g2 then ran with it and ran over the base of the mad lions i wonder with 49 of the votes was the kia player of the game in this one i mean he was playing viego um but that's all you got to do it's easy yeah so tell me then is it always that easy because i think we all think like wow this can be a very oppressive champion but you know there are also counters which we have seen already so what was it then that made wonder deserving kia player of the game you think in the eyes of viewers well i i think uh in that team fight that we just saw his flank ended up playing a pretty pivotal role in the team because g2 and actually finding the perfect fight was going to be pretty difficult g2 also spent a lot of time playing around the top side of the game early on and at the end of the day for fans viego is pretty sweet he can turn into any champion and he got a couple of big kills in later fights yeah and viego is pretty sweet as well when we return treats and justice are making their first appearance in the new roles as they and sk gaming rather face off against astralis [Music] you
