thank you very much shocks we are moments away from getting into picks and bans for the first game between g2 esports and the mad lions i am dracos joined by kadril and vedius which hopefully will go according to troubles predictions and it will go to five games but i think it could be anyone's match at the end of the day remember this is the fifth time these teams have faced each other in best of fives and they're two-two so far they certainly are it's uh it's the best of five of best of five the best five of best and then however losers says it's best of seven investigators or the best of 25 these two teams uh have quite the rivalry developing and i think that um i don't think many people are giving mad the respect that i think that they have earned themselves you know like they have been going toe to toe with g2 for the last two years they have won the title they have earned a represent the position now to stand alongside g2 domestically and hell they even took the world champions to all five games yeah only recently in msi so i think that mad lions they're going to come in strong they're going to put in a strong performance and i can't wait to see what they've prepared for us coming to the series against g2 yeah and mad lions have finished top four ever since they joined the lc right back in 2020 every single position they've placed themselves in throughout any split has been top four at the very least and over the last year our only champions have been now the reigning champions of mad lions and the former champions of g2 certainly and for both of these teams we know that both of these uh squads ramp up very heavily for playoffs matt lions shaky seasons that's something that we're used to seeing it's rogue the team that's always finishing first mad lions have always finished yes towards the top but never the clear number one and yet when it comes down to it in playoffs they have been the team to show up they were the first team domestically to take a best of five off the 2019 g2 lineup a lot of power here a lot of history and on the opposite for g2 you know these players if there's anyone who's going to play under pressure who's going to show up on stage certainly at least five of those names are on stage on the side of g2 yeah that music means draft and i think draft is gonna be a huge talking point for both these teams there's a lot of strengths and weaknesses that i think that's theirs to discuss vedius when it comes to top lane for mad lions what can arm would pick when can he pick it blind picks counter picks and on the side of g2 what is gonna be their priorities coming into the first game for sure i think that we've got a lot of question marks especially after yesterday's bloodbath between the two teams the incredibly high priority and things like camille the zinfiego trades the leblanc priority there are a lot of picks um that clearly have shifted in priority since week eight coming into now so let's see what the focus will be game one g2 versus matt yeah and i think for mad lines red side bands things that are a must are things like thresh twisted fate perhaps maybe zinzal could come out as the red side bands from mad lions g2 already taking kalista off the ball so they're not focusing on that first pick but varys could be something that they might look towards varys i think is a very prominent pick in the current meta twisted fate is something we talked a lot about mad lions we assume that that will be one of the go-to bands you can't afford to give that over to caps uh and also xin zhao is one we've had a lot of debate about i personally think that mad is quite likely to leave it open the irelia band yes i wonder if that's an early rotation jason it's suggesting isn't it i wonder if they're gonna go for it armored had a fantastic jace performance actually solo killed wunder uh in the super week the last time they played against each other solo killed adam as well i think he had an amazing jace in the super week definitely ramped it up thresh man coming in from g2 twisted fate zinzow lucian of the champions we're watching now but important remember as impressive is that solo kill was for arma the rest of the game very difficult for the mad lions partly because of the picks you mentioned earlier the twisted fate coming in for caps a lot more global pressure with arma picking up things like the gang plank but instead of seeing the twisted fate band away we're now seeing the ziggs now mad lions do have one band left but i was pretty much 100 certain that there was no way twisted fate made it through draft if it does maybe mad lions have something special up their sleeves yeah diego being taken away i mean since i'll listen to the 80 junglers left you could go for a diana we saw damon play diana today with yasuo into rise so rye is also a champion rising priority pun intended uh in the eastern regions not so much in europe but we'll have to see because mad lions there's a lot of overpowered champions up right now a lot of ops will the twisted feet be taken off the board this is gonna influence the draft a lot i think with varus still up you imagine that that is going to be the priority huh what what did we miss in a week of scrims did he miss spanish brent do they know something that we've done is laughing that's what humanoid missed the ban it's in the uh it's a virus interlock so you assume that the xin zhao is now going to be the response yeah let's add lions maybe tf zinzo either lee sin could have lead could be something leblanc is something we don't want to forget ryze could be a good match to tf if they do pick me jungle here and they can save a.d the problem is varys is picked kalista zigs are down so ad carry might have to be picked in the one two three confirming that the brand ban was intentional not a miss ban it wasn't intentionally why he did it i have no idea perhaps to troll that could have also been intentional because now as you'll lock in and important to note yesterday we saw so many incredible power picks on stage this meta already shaping up very differently partially because mad lions have banned away a lot of champions we didn't even see touched in yesterday's series i'm really surprised by that brand ben uh anyway we'll have to think about that after the game because for now there's lee in there as asul a d match jungle picked up g2 matching it instantly with zinzal leblanc will humanoid pick lissandra we saw excel blind pick leblanc before and g2's response on blue side was an instant lissandra lee sin now mad lions have the lease and do they want to respond into this 2b2 no it's a twisted fate i mean this is something that humanoid has done before they want the global pressure they value this uh twisted fate lease in combat what i will say we've talked a lot about this uh coming into this week lee is one of the few junglers in the current meta that actually does very well into leblanc uh the fact that you can follow her the fact that you can actually stick to a champion like this and when you pair that up with a twisted fate i think that you do have setup the problem is if the zin shows up at the same time you do in the mid lane that's a very terrifying 2v2 prospect to fight up against yeah i think straight up 2b2 g2 would win out but mad lions have a lot of setup and they have globals to play through so we'll have to see what happens i like this coming out from mad lyons i think that wonder has showcased a very prominent and powerful gangplank of the last few weeks of the lec and that global presence can make the twisted fate much harder to uh have impact on once the level six comes so while there certainly are an incredible number of power picks on both sides we now get to come back to one of the original questions you posed as we headed into this pick ban phase what are armlet's options going to look like in this series yes the jace was incredible he did find the solo kill on wonders gp but the gp is gone now the camille is gone now the alistar now coming out as well what is the top lane focus going to look like for both sides mad lions do have the luxury of last pick yeah mad lions you'd expect them to last pick top but they could also just blind pick a jace on four if youtube they're looking at the owner right now leona definitely up there alistar's by the way leona nautilus are the pigs brown doesn't really work for either team unless g2 want to use brown to counter the leona itself if they pick it on four rakan taken away as a counter so i think g2 do you want brown banana aren't they so now mad lions it's up to you do you want to blind pick top or support here g2 might respond with the chase if it's not picked up and they might respond with leona think i would prefer the leona because right now mad lines don't have it engage and i don't think there are many top laners that offer a huge amount of engage but then the question of the asks of is the load up cc right tf leona but it is going to come through you're completely right leona picked up i think g2 might respond with brown in that case but top lane is definitely what i've been looking at armored versus one their champions are always on my mind the jace here if you're g2 maybe you just blind the tank because you have the virus maybe a window blind pick weak side could be but then like i'm trying to think of the structure oh it could be tom top it could also be tom's support well we're going to find out very quickly we saw odne blind picking the time kench yesterday getting a bunch of solo kills and the one versus one yeah and uh yesterday we saw the counter not counter but the counter pick into tom was nar for herod there's the brown picked up for leona to get a winning bot lane so they're playing strong side bot here tom kench i won't say weak side but he's definitely they're getting a lot of attention wow now before the nerfs of course gwen convention when people looked at options into the gwen it was often ranged champions that were picked up an easier way to get through the lane phase both of these champions are a ludicrous ball of stats in the early to mid game there is a ton of sustain on both sides so a very unique top lane matchup potentially one that could be very explosive if either side gets an edge well so mad lions have a very scrappy comp a comp that has a lot of mobility in it they have pretty good engaged tools they have the global with the twisted fates that they can easily look to play around through sides but g2 very similar to what we've often seen from them in recent weeks they have a very strong jungle that i imagine they'll look to play through i think that coming into this game mid jungle is going to be the most important bit can humanoid actually get out of his mid lane and start impacting the sides or will g2 be able to snowball caps and have this leblanc unleashed and roaming himself yeah mid jungle is never in isolation though and i think the g2 have bought push and mad lines might have top bush we'll see how the trades go because this matchup is very new to the lec when it comes to tam versus gwen but g2 running a one four comp time kent will be along the side lane maybe leblanc on the sideline four man grouped up but mad lions have a one three one hard to execute but very rewarding if it can pulled off properly a lot of pressure on both sides to find a win in the first game often defining the meta for the series some of the conventional power picks we saw from yesterday given up by the mad lions pull out some new picks of their own the lee sin returning to the stage alongside the twisted fate as well as the ezreal will it be worth the exchange time to keep our eyes on what's to come here in the first match g2 esports versus the mad lions [Music] do quick question before we jump onto the rift you chose the count to pick fertile plane gwen into tom kench we saw a drop in the priority for gwen but now it's coming back because of time ken can you give me a bit more about the matchup sure so um gwen is a champion that's uh not exactly got any engage abilities or cc abilities really apart from a slow so she's very good against champions that like have to come into her right and time catches a short range beefy champion and gwen has lots of true damage so it's kind of a good matchup all right and maybe a couple words on the brand then the brand man didn't need another band here all right well i guess you're confident thank you so much mike for the interview and back to you guys on the rift oh i love it don't even need another band how many titles do you have g2 how many bands does matt have we don't even need a rap battle we just need that man let's see if it counts against them because uh they could have banned varus and now rekkles has got that one could have been zen or leblanc and they have all those champions too we'll see if it comes to bite them in the butt hey um obviously bad brand maybe it's some secret tech we don't know but for now it's going to be stock standard eloy are passing topside into armoured almost like playing for top side and as expected window might be left on his own and jankos is going to pass towards the bot lane level one wards coming out on raptors we'll see if that spots the junglers early uh yeah you were talking about the vision i just really want to quickly highlight we can see a bit of vision hovering around the top side the red ward being dropped onto his own buff seeing if any shenanigans are happening there and then also the entrance so mad lions have a lot of early game information around what g2 could be up to uh early on into the game as jankos starts his top side path down towards bart yeah to see the question mark ping on the raptors there on both side i think that they'll expire before jankos does get there he's focusing but now fighting top armor ticking wonder could he go down here i'm going to commit anything else no flash keep that in mind so just the ignite that does come out really good stun made it so he could save his flash but we can see this match-up's already going in favor of gwen has to use the ignite but his jungler's pathing top i'm not sure if they can look for early dives i think they're going to have to invest a twisted fate teleport if they want to go for the dive on a three-man i think two-man might be a bit tricky pressure's still going though oh yeah now jungling his way towards the top side as you mentioned but jankos that puts him down to the bottom side now the good wards that you already highlighted going to fade away not sure if the last few seconds they're going to spot out yankos but they can already expect the top to bot side path yeah i think it timed out just in time and the reason both these junglers are pathing this way is because jankos has both pushed with the brahman to leona and he has mid bush with caps so that means alyoya pathing bots wouldn't really net him anything he can't fight for bots crap he has no prior lanes so instead he's gonna go top and trade off both junglers just full clearing right now so nothing too crazy everything pretty stock standard gangkos looking to get a little bit more information if he can i think he's just hovering covering for the time being waiting for that to spawn yeah he's not actually gone for his red buff yet you have to dive it's going to be a dive tp's are available for everyone right now how many resources are going to be committed wind becomes lightning connects cars he's now going to be in trouble he leaps back out to safety three stacks looks performed custom blows clean dive mickey takes the tower aggro easy first blood now do they go for the re-diving kaiser how far are they gonna be enough guys are trying to stun as many members as you can but it's easy reckless with a double three minutes into the game that was so clean the reason this dive was easily executed by g2 was because yankos landed his w and mickey landed the q onto carsi before it even happened before anyone took aggro it was a beautiful juggle and they get themselves two kills i think the the cleanse is also a really big deal the reality is that you don't have that that cleanse is not gonna offer that much assistance when setting up for this dive i think it was just really good awareness from g2 they stacked a wave uh without that additional defensive summoner spell and everything lands under kazi there's the w the q also lands he's forced to burn the e very early he flashes away from rekkles q uh and he even mickey even sidesteps the e from kaiser as well so he doesn't get locked up underneath the tower yeah big thing jankos look he gets the knock up as well so he used q1 onto the escuel to make sure the brown passive proc then he used his q on the tower to keep the q2 alive and then he used to knock up on the kaiser chained it with mickey stun that was amazing overall incredibly clean mechanical plays now coming into this series we already talked about how close these teams were the form we expected to see from both of them second half of the split eight one seven two both respectable records now g2 did win in the last game but a lot of that felt like the draft in this game we're seeing g2 come out the gates swinging right from the start reckless getting two early kills is massive for this g2 lineup it certainly is and this comes back to the idea that we were talking about where a lot of people when they look at mad the expectations they didn't have a strong regular season but they really did the teams that beat both of them was sk and the the team uh that madden up losing to was g2 in that best of one so like mad have had a very impressive second half but g2 have already come out in a very impressive way early on into the game and now caps is already on the roam looking to get a little bit of information will not spot out algorithm but can see that the top camps have gone knows that the rafters are spawning soon and the ping coming down to the wolves so it seems that g2 very aware of where al joya is and the reason is is if you could bring up the mini map very they have warts everywhere they have warts on el yoya's grump they have wards on el yoja's raptors they have the scuttle they have defensive wards in case humanoid tries to drop a wave and move towards bot they got the dive off they got two kills onto rekkles who's now ahead in cs can stack waves and can push as much as he wants incredibly difficult position now to play from and while humanoids doing okay in the trades if caps is able to roam first things might get difficult we've seen so many times when you're the twisted fate and you get to all proactively the champion looks so imbalanced but if you're forced to react to play defensively it could be a very difficult game utility is there but the damage output very much favoring the leblanc i think small interesting thing here is just talking about that twisted fate reckless isn't running clean so if kaiser and he won't get on him he might die ankle's going to face check oh yeah here he might take the fight because he has red buff because obviously he left his red buff up for so long that he still has it so elijah can't even take that fight caps will be able to collapse and i think that mad lion's eyes on top lane do you want a salvage bot now to try and get your bot lane back in the game in a sense to try and contest the push or do you want to start to get armoured rolling humanoid has alt eyes on mad lions right now caps is just trying to keep pressure onto humanoid the jungler even coming mid i love the way in which yankus is playing knowing that leblanc is so much stronger especially at this point in the game and if mad try and go for that skirmish they are going to falter with the bop wave stacked up you imagine that mickey and reckless could look for a reset here and with the prior that they have in mid it's going to result in an early drake just great utilization of the early prior lanes that you two have wonder playing on the weak side of the map at a small deficit but he's doing absolutely fine so good start to early uh to the early game for g2 and as expected right you're playing zinzal varys brown with prior mid so you have to get both side rolling they've done exactly that they have a defensive pink towards top side to protect wunder and they have the pry when bot just like you said to take drake they can also use that prio in a minute's time to move to herald if they want to so g2 have full control of the map right now and that's why it's eyes on mad lion see if they can crack it open certainly going to try to find some options here the top lane matchup armour is going well he's able to keep and sustain pressure for the most part but not really any kill threat and they haven't been able to find an opportunity for set up on the dive it's certainly a difficult thing to do up against the reworked tom kench but that lines maybe biding their time a little bit more until they can find an opportunity level seven is here for humanoid we'll see where the first destiny gate takes him to i wonder if g2 might want to invade the red buff respawn looks like jankos is just gonna face though he doesn't cancel kaiser that's gonna hurt because kaiser could have used this tempo to go towards top side yeah karzai will be safe on bot wave so as small as that looks it was actually pretty big in the uh in the bigger picture 30 seconds so harold it's the next objective and i think g2 just want to keep pushing and bolt and using that pressure translator on the map mickey look for kaiser again but he won't find him this time and i think it's so crucial that the g2 bottom lane has his advantage especially when kaiser is playing with leona because this man has been the catalyst for so much of the action for matt in the early game you can see incredibly low duo proximity but incredibly high k plus a for support at 15. this man is usually roaming and making plays and for the first time this game he has now been unlocked to get out of this bottom lane it might cost cars you played or two but maybe cars or kaiser can get something done hell well did you see those pings from g2 they were dropping wards down and i think that again like this is exactly how mickey likes to play both supports very similar into their approach and they should expect that this kaiser is roaming around the map somewhere the pings come down they have to be aware of where he could be and now g2 using their priority to roam up towards mid and g2 doing what they so often do now they have information on where kaiser is let's see what they do with it yeah that's it's just perfect isn't it push and bot they get the early dive to get the early vision unlocks your bot lane now they move towards mid to help out your top side you're going to secure a herald mad lions are around to contest but if they fight it's going to be a 5v4 cars he wasn't is not there and kaiser is late because mickey stopped his base so g2 should be able to pick up this neutral for free and mad lions just losing out on the map slowly but surely and you'd think that rekkles would lose something here by rotating up towards mid as well and yeah he's gonna lose a couple creeps but the reality is he's already sitting very comfortably ahead right now uh on the cannon minions there as well so he's not even going to lose that much off the back of it so just excellent early game movement from g2 they've managed to get themselves about an 800 gold lead thanks to humanoid passive he is still staying very relevant we saw the goal a little bit earlier and he is still doing very well in this matchup even has a cs lead so props to him in the 1v1 yes that's tp though so we'll see where he uses it but i think the big thing is normally when a team goes to herald and they move their bot lane up maybe there's a cross map opportunity for matt lyons in the end they actually hovered around mid and didn't find anything kaiser eventually is going to base el yoyas basing top with armored so any play that mad lions might have looked for could have had he's gone out the window g2 doing a fantastic job holding onto their league giving up just a little bit of it to make sure that mad lions do not have plays or avenues back to the game and while it is still a relatively small goldie just short of a thousand for g2 they have the infernal drake and they importantly have this first herald jankos a lot of members passing down towards the bottom side they could look to break this bottom tower force karzian mad lions back but certainly g2 are in the driver's seat yeah i think the big thing you have to ask yourself if you're mad lions is what's the plan because for now top lane looks neutralized bot lane is really hard to play for and there's no kill pressure mid because caps can just keep pushing and sitting in fog of war so mad lions have to commit numbers somewhere or try to punish a mistake from g2 on an over extension maybe they want a tf top with elio and three-man wonder or maybe they want a four-man bot but then the big question is what will you lose on the other side of the map and can g2 match you in time because of the amount of control they have on the map forward though as you mentioned wunder suffering a bit more in the trades as early items start to come through tom catch notoriously very oppressive early but you know that the true damage and from the gwen will eventually outscale when some items start to come through see wonder can do for now is going to try to get out of that one armor on the chase out comes the needle work but not nearly enough to finish the job more pressure on the top side though maybe something for the mad lines to play around twisted fate already moving up but he has been spotted by a ward which will diminish a little bit of the effectiveness of the play g2 literally seeing mad lions every time they try to make a play this game yeah g2's vision this game has been great playing it from the draft mad lions haven't really found the opportunities but they're gonna need too soon because slowly but surely like we said the dragon 40 seconds madeline so they want to contest that you can see the kill pressure mid is very minimal because caps has mercury treads and yankos can always get onto humanoid but caps is a lot more slippery than he is mckinsen yankos now could look to collapse on mid could look to go bottom matt have done an excellent job of setting up some defensive vision there just so that karzi can play as safely as possible under the tower but level seven ezreal slowly but surely carsey falling a little bit behind him both golden experience against the 2-0 reckless and it's only gonna get worse is he really could not approach that wave i like the use of harold bot uh i think that given kaiser's roaming around the map and they have rough information of where it would be the fact that humanoid can't collapse as well and they had the wave bot lane just funnel more resources into reckless you can see that he has a 1.5 k gold lead in just the straight up head-to-head match-up yankos also continuing to build up a lead and they're just continuing to attack this bot side of the map it was a strategy that rogue found very effective in their finals of last split shutting down qazi and kaiser uh just beating them in the two versus two and investing their resources g2 emulating that style and using their prior midway yeah look at armor though he's basing he can tp in so mad lines i want to look some kind of contest here one is trying to base two but they're going to force it all to now coming out where's the twisted fake going to go sonic wave connects but there's going to be no follow-up armor still waiting in vegas he's now finally going to return to lane matt lyons may be feeling like they can start this drake but g2 i haven't lost too much from the exchange looks like they've pushed them off because caps and retros have to catch waves but i think g2 aren't done here no leonald and wunder's in a good spot to tp here there could be a fight yanko's committing tp now coming in behind them reckless in no man's land he's all isolated to himself armour now coming in maybe get a little bit of damage down ezreal not really going to connect on much of anyone yanko's now running for the hills humanoid grabbing a kill back g2 ready to return for the fight that's the ulti coming out from varus cars he locked up of the wall reckless now out of mana it's going to be big for the lethality bars he's eating up the gwen he's going to spit him right back out easy kill for wonder now cap's going for the ball incredibly low karzi is he feeling confident g2 backing away but no one is getting the drake crucially yeah but g2 are very split up at the start of that fight eventually wunder came in he didn't have a great tp position he'd keep it on bot wave so he's quite far away mickey died before he could get there in the end it's a one for one humor is gonna tp top to catch the wave so g2 going to base and probably run out towards this dragon and get it for themselves but i think the big thing here was wonders tp in bottling yeah so you can see that the initial exchange a lot of volts were used and with wonder also in a position to tp yeah g2 thought that they could commit to the fight of course as you mentioned g2 is a little bit split here yank was forced to flash out gets chunked out by the gwen and then the braum is like well it's a bit awkward for me reckless also low on mana but then with the arrival of wonder g2 just start playing this front to back and they slowly start to chip away at the mad lions front line with which they then get slowly picked apart and forced to disengage yeah and recklessly on varys went through three members of mad lions there took 30 percent of each of their hp's and that's what put the nail in the coffin for that fight for mad lions humanoid tp top to push out the wave and now jankos should be able to pick up this dragon pretty free they have the vision for it so again another neutral object going to g2 caps is going to get this bot tower as well you'd expect and mad lions what's the cross map maybe they can push in and move towards top but then again top lane it's a full tank time kench certainly and they're not really in a position right now to get anything armada still catching a wave on the top side it looks like midwave is gonna need to be picked up as well so for now g2 just continue to come out on top in these individual plays incredibly dominant early game from g2 2k gold lead full control over every objective on the map outside of that single kill for mickey everything has gone uh or single death for mickey rather everything has gone in g2's favor i think you can also see we got a bit of a taster of what fights are going to look like because there's a lot of mobility uh on both sides and i think that when you look at g2 they have a little bit more of a front line with uh the xinjiang wanting to dive in the tom kendrick also wanting to be in melee range the braum also acting as peel and then leblanc looking for these opportunities to jump over a wall get a bit of poke off forrest doing the same thing a bit of cc coming down to wonder caught out sonic wave goes a little bit wide wonder doesn't have the flash if you want to try to make it out yanko's waiting over the wall they've locked him he's flashed he's still got the thick skin elyos he feeling confident doesn't want to take that one wonder we'll walk away big thing is humanoids ult wasn't up just yet you can see it it's ticking ticking ticking and now it's up if that was up maybe they could have just full committed to that with el yoja but a couple second time window just means that the players off and they tried to cross map top they're going to force herald they force wunder out see what gt wants to get in response caps does he have tp up he's just pushing in both and hitting the tier two right now and mickey rick is pushing him it doesn't have tv so i expect maybe they're gonna play for this bottle to mid tower i mean mad is just losing a lot of farm right now they're losing resources in the bot lane they're losing resources and made cars you already can to hold on and we'll see how much this herald actually nets them because in terms of map control and actually damage being done to matar of the map g2 is gaining huge advantages remember that gold gap wasn't actually that big only a few minutes ago and now it's ballooned to about two and a half nearly 3k as g2 continue to find these advantages across the map well i don't want to overstate as this is only a single game it is flashbacks to the 2019 g2 who were very controlled in the early game but then blew games wide open in the mid game with the combination of harold one or two plays choking opponents out in the mid game it is certainly a good look and refreshing to see after g2 while it was an 8-1 second half overall a relatively shaky season that said matt lyons may be looking for a return play here eliot and kaiser on the way in human committed bottom side keep in mind they can drop the second herald but it won't mean play goal there won't be a dramatic shift in resources yeah what's going on going to do though look at reckless he's already moving towards top side maybe they can look some kind of cross map with winner pushing on top but no mad lions are going to get involved here when they invest the herald and the tf ultimate they have to use four members to actually take this down so mad line slowly running out of plays but they found one at least a tower will help but they need to find a lot more with this composition definitely going to be difficult especially as reckless gets stronger and certainly going to feel at home in the mid lane and lethality bar is easy for him to clear out these waves especially easy for him to play some of these fights if he lands cues humanoid cards are going to be squishy for the vast majority of this game very crucial role in the fights to come i think that for mads yes they are at a bit of a deficit but i still look at this ezreal and i'm like well the amount of threat on him is actually quite minimal you know you're not afraid the only person you're really afraid of is caps of course and caps can be a huge swing factor in a lot of these fights depending on how much damage he's able to get off and the angles he'll be able to find but i think that one of the biggest strengths is being able to play through side lanes utilize their range utilize their mobility and they can look to kind of dance around and try and find these small skirmishes against g2 whereas i think that g2 want to try and leverage the front line that they have constantly use the fact that they have a strong made they can get these priors on the side and try and force mads to kind of actually clump up and fight them rather than trying to split the map apart yeah i think you're completely right the first thing is you nailed it karzi can do a lot of damage yes he should be able to survive but g2 have more front to back damage and then the second thing of having this one two one and being able to play over side lanes like humanoid you can see him is behind armored right now but what can you do can you dive a tom kench probably not maybe you'll get a tower or deny a couple waves and then the opposite side can you catch out to the blank we already saw them try to do it once looks pretty much impossible because she has three dashes including flash to get away but they might just force it humanoid doesn't have tp though so it's only gonna be a two-man cap doesn't have tp to respond maybe take the tower and then look right afterwards now you're committing qrq for the follow-up wonder so thank you for now walking away but the tower were not going to be nearly enough mad lions making it easy we wanted to know if you could dive the tom catch it would appear that the answer is yes that said it's still going to cost a tower on the bottom side exactly that because the question is was the trade worth it mad investing effectively three members top because humanoid was shadowing originally and g2 immediately push in mid and they push in bot in the straight up 1v1 humanoid has to be cautious of this leblanc because of the amount of damage that she has and g2 they're just playing the map very well they end up trading the tier 2 tower which remember gives bonus gold so caps gets all that 600 for himself and while sure mad are able to get that kill onto the tom kench but i think g2 is going to be pretty comfortable with that trade and gentlemen yesterday we expected it to be calm collected calculated from rogue it was a bloodbath in every game today we expected bloodbath and there's five kills at 19 minutes now we might get a sixth year as it looks like three dashes well caps might have to use all of them as kaiser and el you do collapse maybe he can try to find a kill here but not quite the explosive game we were initially expecting yeah mad line need to be projected they need to force these players captures in trouble one dash second dash going to come out now the flash out as well that's all hey cadre you said he's got all three dashes he used all three yeah human had to flash away and bolt as well you can see on the right hand side he has no flash he got pressured reckless i think ult flashed him perhaps and that's why he reacted pretty well but they're just making sure that they can secure this dragon third dragon 4 g2 will be pretty free because all of mad lines is top side they have no way for mid tower they have no way they can take this top tier two because wonder has tp as well so they should be able to defend that but yeah you can see the problem that they have over silence kenji takes too much time to dive so you can cross map easily and leblanc is just way too hard to lock down so this tf comp is really struggling against g2's answer three drakes now even before the 20 minute mark is massive for g2 mountain soul pretty big when you have a tom catch on the front line as well certainly he's gonna make their jobs a little bit harder for the mad lions mad need to find a way back in yes they are trading yes they are keeping the gold within touching distance but those objectives keep getting away from them and g2 feels like they're always eking out an advantage in these trades the one variable that i'm still kind of like leaving a question mark ping over is this gwen because when she was meta one of the big things about gwen was that she wasn't just a strong split pusher she was also a strong team fighter her ultimate actually has access onto the back line and because of her true damage she can also melt frontline targets so if you do just play a traditional front to back she chucks her w down i'm wondering how much of a variable that actually swings in the straight up 5v5 if we even have those uh i think armor could be a player that if g2 are getting the fights that they want for could actually swing it in their favor and look he's at two items now he's kind of the nerfs don't mean anything to to him anymore now that he's level 13 he's got his items and he's ready to go yeah i think in an ideal world with the three melee champions of g2 if gwen can get a good position and shoot them straight towards the carries she could do a lot of damage in the fights but i think the problem that they struggle with right now is yes mad lion's only down around one and a half thousand gold but the control that they're lacking right now in the game is what's hurting them the most you can see if you could bring up the uh telus right there on the minimap the amount of vision gt has in their jungle already you can see it on the screen now there's so much deep vision the g2 the only real way you can make a play on them is with a global if rekkles is safe in mid and he clears out waves as he's positioned right now and hugs his tower and both side lanes can just push for free a straight up 5v5 is hard to find so flatlines need to just brute force it and they've already got jankos flash these just group up and just force g2 to respond when both these sidewaves aren't in good spots and right on time that is exactly what they're doing humanoid 74 trying to land a blue car trying to burn through that tower with as many creeps as they can muster there in the mid lane but that's gonna be the extent of that play forcing a few members of the g2 out of their own jungle and a little bit more damage on the mid tier one but not able to break it crucially you might wonder how can mad lions group up with the biggest reason they can is rapid fire cannon twisted fate he can run up with stun card reckless has to give the wave then they can push in and retake control of the map this tf is providing so much utility to help mad lions retake control pulling away man lions again retreating to their side of the map arma clearing out vision he can madeline's securing and trying to hold on to what they can but g2 still has a few pesky wars there caps already back in already clearing out division such a hard game for mad lions to play they got 20 30 seconds where they were in control but now it's g2 again taking all the vision taking all the control on the top side of the map yeah and as well as youtube's playing as well as they're controlling the map mad lions are no strangers to being down in gold down in control and finding a perfect fight we knew them in spring as the team fight kings finding fights against rogue when they're 10k down and then turning an entire game around so they're definitely not down and out the biggest problem they have right now is contesting control and this dragon in two minutes time they lose that it's gonna be very hard for them to even team fights yeah it's one of those scary things where you can't ever really count mad out as much as we sit there and say the map state is good for g2 the comp is really good for g2 everything is looking great for g2 you're like but mad lions have won from even worse positions perfectly so reoccurring yeah it so consistently happens that it's not just a one-time thing no they they literally built a brand off and here we go the pick on the mickey will they find it going in that's gonna be a massive solar flare now going off records trying to disengage with his ultimate humanoid gonna go golden for a brief moment with the stopwatch now coming out humanoid gonna try to back away but cap's instantly there to finish the job as soon as he comes out of stations kaiser getting obliterated mickey now chasing down oh yeah three stacks of the cusp of blows fishing for four one to the front liner that they needed carsey not able to have the impact that he wants yes he is fearless yes no one can get on top of him but he doesn't do enough damage to kill the tom kench exactly mad tried to go for a pic initially on to mickey and with the arrival of wonder the front line just stores enough time for caps to join the fray but man they're not done yet dashing back armour locked up he's going to leap away as much as he can the miss going to protect him but here comes the tom catch wonder now chasing tongue lash goes a bit wide armlet sidestepping g2 on the chase you're not interested in pulling back not interested in trying for the barons looking for these kills on mad lions bullying them out of this mid lane yeah a lot of lockdown humanoids up in two seconds and he has tp so g2 are just gonna have to call it and base before this dragon spawns re-get their re take their vision get more wards get their health bars back up and then come back out to the dragon mad lions how do you want to respond do you want to try to contest this a lot of ultimates are coming up soon but armored crucially isn't or you want to try to trade it for a baron we'll see what happens on the map state but i think that mad lions the only way you can win these fights is locking down reckless specifically i think everyone else is too tanky or just way too slippery they're going to mickey and like you said they then go on to wonder but this don't have enough damage to kill one target and then peel back if there's one person still alive and they can't peel back it's just lights out you can see how much disengage the g2 composition has and like mad ahmet rather joins the fight but he really can't do anything either the commitment was so strong for mad what's interesting here is immediately when humanoid respawned he tp's another fight in mid solar player now coming in kaiser meeting the backline reckless untouched for now keep your eyes on those arrows because they do big damage kaiser almost immediately deleted ulti was solid but the follow-up is just not there humanoid taken out again caps double distortion right into the back line now yoga no room to maneuver it's a double kill for the leblanc mad lions are being slaughtered g2 want more kills they're not interested in the mountain drink actually they're just going to double dip wonder pushing forward cavs pushing forward yankos taking the objective and g2 in absolute control once again the engage comes down on to mickey and he just tanks it he does not care about what is thrown at him and he's just buying time yes he does end up losing his flash but the trade ends up being so worth it humanoid drops el julia drops g2 get themselves the soul and now they're going to get themselves the band yeah they're going to force us up humanoid has ultimate but el yoja is nowhere to be seen he'll be up in five seconds but can you get here in time to actually pop the smite down i think g2 have enough damage to take it and this soul is going to hurt mad lions the later the game goes on a mountain soul on tam kench on brown on xin especially these are the targets that you can actually easily hit have only become more tank here cars he's gonna have to find a miracle still here almost going in desperate to get something back the ezreal is not getting connected with the baron 12k he's trying to fix with the cues but jankos secures it armour now in the midst of the entire g2 team he's quick on the retreat but yankos is quick on the follow-up wonder now chasing him down as well that's arma gone that's captain to the back line they want to delete this leblanc and get the hell out but it's just not gonna happen cap's holding on to his life as mickey continues to chase he might not have mana but he doesn't need it concussive blows coming in kaiser going down g2 routing mad lions once again yeah and i wonder if that's just it we've seen mad lions come back from huge deficits but so far behind now 8k gold el yo-yo is going to fall it's just a clean ace baron seoul g2 get everything and they're still a top tier one they're still a top tier two a mid tower there's so much resources still to be taken for g2 and mad lions i think they've run out of options constantly in this game we talked about options that mad lions have because it felt like that g2 have just suffocated them from start to finish and we're just gonna look back at this play this is a desperation play for mad it's the last play that they've got left they need to try and get themselves this baron in order to stay alive in this game but it's just denied caps gets the one shot onto kazi on the back line armor gets melted in the front to back and you can just see how hard it is four mads to play these fights i talked about maybe maybe the gwen could be something that changes the variable but turns out that it just wasn't enough really front line of the braum tom kench was far too tanky the back line of mad didn't have the damage and g2 they have played patiently extremely calmly and they find themselves with a 13-2 kill score a 9k gold lead and a dominant first game yeah and the reason mad lions had to fight this baron is because varys and leblanc if you give baron to these champions when they're ahead it's so hard to defend towers varys greatest sieging with poke leblanc doesn't even have to play the side lane she can just push it group with you dash over and force your 80 carry to base so mid and bot are the focus now for g2 the one force coming in yankos and mickey playing in between i think these towers should fall soon g2 could even look for some kind of dive if they want to but that's going to be mid and bots will fall shortly after g2 simply too strong for mad lions to step up and contest with wonder going in now there's a lot of cc here but if mad burn all of their cooldowns on this top catch g2 will surely take the fight wonderkick back in the middle of the team reckless now pulling back wonder is going to go down no not quite skin mickey x there the body block when it matters cap's unstoppable and it is a feeding frenzy here g2 blood in the water and they smell it gonna make it a quick easy victory now for g2 commanding first game slowly but surely blowing open this gold lead taking every dragon in sight mad lions left with few to no options at every stage of the game g2 have dominated this first one yeah fantastic performance by g2 and mad lions you have to question the draft in a sense where you have globals but nothing to play for and a lot of single target damage against a lot of frontline on g2 i have to say though yesterday's series showed us that even though rogue did take down misfits pretty convincingly misfits was able to come back to five games so mad lions a lot to review in this but definitely a statement from g2 in game one impressive it's just a really impressive game from g2 from start to finish the execution was clean their control was clinging we didn't see any fumbles we didn't see people getting caught out like yeah we still wanted to die top lane but that was a trade they were making the cross map happen and they got so much off the back of it just i'm so impressed such a great game that's probably one of the cleanest g2 games i've seen all year round yep so i think it is i'm just going to say it it's okay yeah it's disgusting against mad lions right yes it's absolutely massive the individual performances the immediate dive box just the team before everyone did their job perfectly it was it was fantastic and i loved the way that they sacrificed 10 cs let carson come back a little bit in the game to free up their bot lane to stop mad lions from getting anything on the cross map it was a thing of beauty now mad lions can they bring it back that is the question because g2 started their playoffs run with a win and after the break the this was the thing before yeah definitely was the thing before uh so then uh then rather the first game g2 esports they started the series with a super convincing win taking their revenge so far on the mad lions or reigning champions there's a lot to talk about in pick and man and i feel like it was a pretty controversial pick of men especially from the side of the mad lion's trouble what did you make of it i mean i feel like varys is just as an st blind pickable adc especially in this meta and i see a brand ban and i thought maybe it was targeted maybe there was something going on you know lpl is very sneaky they're putting all these majors down the boat like maybe something there but then they're like i would still need another one i guess maybe they did because that var is a snowballed out of control i'm just gonna say it i think it was a mistake uh regardless dylan you had a lot to say specifically about the priorities coming out of the mad lions in this draft order yeah so i thought lions draft this game was a bit questionable i think there's a like a few different ways to talk about it i think first first things first they prioritized lee sin instead of the zinzal i think that this i can understand it if you feel like you're better at the champion and you want to take the match up but i don't feel like the leasing tf combo actually plays that great into xen i think zin can block a lot of tf's damage and be pretty useful against it but what i think is the bigger problem is the way this bot lane draft ends up working out once again ezreal is like a kind of proven champ to be played in tavares but ezreal's not as strong as he was earlier in the season when his match was played a lot and not only do they pick ezreal into the varus but they then ban alistar 4-5 when alistar is not not very playable i think into ezreal in lane and instead they give the enemy brom tom kench so you're playing tf mid against leblanc find match up but now the tf cannot port top really effectively you have tom ken sitting there top lane and now they have braum as well with a counter pick bot lane and a push spot lane and if you look at how this played out in the game it's like tf camp or anywhere you're losing bot lane and in addition to this the decisions they made in the game made the virus get extremely ahead early you would think logically then okay i'm going to try and cover for my bot lane a little bit if i'm mad lions right but that's not what happened in fact g2 identified in this first replay immediately passed down bot for the gank yeah like varus with counter pick support and xin zhao like you have to expect that this dive can be coming in and you see this is what happens dankos hits level three go straight bot lane varus will always get the push in this matchup and they just have no response and i feel like in the breakdown that we did when they played against the kalista and they wanted to put the virus ahead they did the exact same thing they called jankos down ball when they knew the enemy jungler was on the other side of the map they got reckless three quick kills and from there on out it was lights out for whatever team they were playing against but just to dive a little bit further into the in game i felt that mickey had a fantastic game he was literally engaging for g2 he was keeping a lyoya out of every single fight there was on the map i could just that listen could never get into the fight and gwen for me also remains a question mark because even though yes armored was farmed was well equipped with items i just didn't necessarily feel the impact this thing was falling behind but gwen as a champion i just haven't necessarily seen the impact of it yet with odometer playing it as well yesterday i like that you called out the the mickey influence as well in terms of keeping that lee sin out of the fight and i also want to take a look at a couple of fights that transpired when g2 was already very far ahead we must say that dylan but you wanted to highlight specifically how they act as a one-man unit as a collective when they go into these fights yeah you can see here um the fight starts actually with a tf port engage and the instant tp to match and they end up winning this fight i think pretty convincingly and yeah okay this is great for them but what i think is really great here is they're so in sync that they understand that dragons coming up in 50 seconds they have their timers they five man base and then just run all together on the mid lane because that's the dragon soul and on the contrary you said a word that is so combined with mad so in sync when it comes to team fights but here they were not like g2 was 100 absolutely but what we commend mad about is their team fighting prowess how they play as a unit how they are so coordinated and this concerns me because the few team funds that we saw in this game i felt like mad were all over the place their decision making was not coming fast enough and they were just all on a different completely page yeah i think they maybe drafted themselves a bit into a deficit in this game one but of course all praise goes to the way g2 played and closed out this game so after this clip we're gonna maybe pull up the draft again perhaps but matt lions have elected to stay on the red side trouble what are your initial thoughts about what alterations are going to come in for matt yeah i would actually like to see a few counterpicks coming out like ahmed we've seen him really stepping up towards a lot of stages of the summer season i'd like to see he may be onto a counterpick and just get a stronger skirmish heavy couple i call it mid jungle couple for humanoid and all yoya um well actually in this game they did counter pick both the top and the mid lane which would i think would be actually be like counter pick matchups i think the problem here mainly lies in the way they drafted their bot lane match up and how that interacted with their early jungle pathing i would say okay well clear plans for uh mad lions maybe maybe the brand band could be something different we all agree maybe we all agree that that brand can be something different we'll see but g2 they are on their way towards a possible showdown with rogue and we'll see if their success continues in game two [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music]
