hello everybody my name is flowy i'm freaked youtuber for almost two years now i have one of the largest youtube channels in germany with freecad contents and in this video i want to make a showcase and show you how you can come from not even having freecad installed on your machine to your first printed part in less than five minutes we will start our experiment on the downloads page of freecad freekidweb.org downloads scroll down to the development versions to the releases page under the releases page we find the github repository we scroll down to the assets of frequent 019 and we download the windows conda version here at 411 megabytes download should be very very quick and we unzip it unzipping can take a little bit of time on my old computer and enter the folder bin for binaries and then scroll down until we find freecad dot exa double click and start it and here we are in free kit we start a new file and under the new file we go to tasks start create body and create our first sketch the sketch will be drawn on the x z plane okay and there we start with the polyline tool make a simple sketch here do some dimensioning two degrees of freedom left very good 60 and 80 millimeter for the height of our part so now we can close the part go to model extrude symmetric for example 40 millimeters then we'll add some nice fillets to our edges here these four edges press control button while selecting all of them and go for 15 millimeters we go to origin spacebar y z plane another sketch and we start drawing a circle here the diameter of the circle is not so important because the drill command will ignore that so it's just a position that's important so we constrain the position of our circle here at 65 millimeters in height and horizontal distance of our circle here at eight millimeters okay go to close we can hide the origin by pressing space bar we can select our sketch one and then go to the hole command the drill so we select a diameter of four millimeters through the whole body through all type counter bore with a diameter of eight millimeters a depth of three millimeters and then we have a live preview of our hole in the body we go to ok now we need the origin again press spacebar and then we choose our hole go to mirrored feature and now we have to say where we want to mirror that's either the vertical sketch axis or x z plane here doesn't make a big of a difference we can hide the origin and now we're very good to go next thing we select our body file export go to the desktop select the stl mesh file format save it so here we are in the desktop we can start our prusa slicer then we go to import import our holder so to have clean holes we can lay it flat on this side like that slice it and now happy printing that's just an example how fast you can come from xero to your first printed part in freecad if you like this video consider checking out the video description and my github repository at github.comflowy where you can find additional cat exercises and also links how to support me and my channel and if you watch this video right after the release happy halloween
