Please note that this website is currently a work in progress! Lots of interesting data and statistics to come.
From WIRED:
“There are a number of myths about detecting deception.
Fidgeting, looking away, touching your mouth, all of these things are thought to be practices that indicate deception. John Clemente, former Supervisory Special Agent for the FBI, explains why that isn’t always the case and how people like him can decipher what these indicators really mean.”
I think this is a very useful video. As my ex husband and I were divorcing he wrote me a letter in which he stated he has “never had an affair”. I thought this was suspicious. My therapist thought I was reading too much into the statement. He later admitted to going to Asian massage parlors “3 or 4 times a year for the past 10 years”. So not an affair but still infidelity.
I definitely recommend the show Lie to Me if you're interested in this!
Also wanna point out that psychopaths (antisocial personality disorder) are generally capable of lying and deceiving with no tells at all because they lack a conscience and are very superficially charming and manipulative. I mean, I definitely think it's good to be aware of the things mentioned in the video, but unfortunately it does not apply to all
If a man ever puts you in a situation where you try to remember what that FBI expert on the internet said, he is lying.
Interesting watch!
Very interesting, thanks for this!
