FORGOTTEN 1968 Plymouth Barracuda Revival after 10 years Will it start? Will it Burnout for 2022?

[Music] hi there guys and gals on today's episode we try to start this forgotten camaro what do you mean it's not a camaro seriously it's not a camaro i've been calling this thing a camaro for like 30 episodes you're just now telling me that that's not a camaro oh well that explains why everyone's so mad at me on the internet well crap now i got to do another intro hello there guys and gals on today's episode we try to start this forgotten mustang [Music] so for y'all who haven't figured it out this is a 1968 plymouth barracuda no who would have thought so many episodes calling in the camaro almost like some people on the internet can't take a joke but this barracuda is owned by none other than the dodge whisperer see i told you i didn't own the car if y'all want to learn the history of this car from the dodge whisperer himself check out this video it might be there when i release this video it might not be there you know he posts quarterly to by yearly but regardless of the history of this car due to a little bit of internet peer pressure dodge whisper has finally decided to try to get this car running he's owned this car for a long time i think the car hasn't run in 10 years he thinks it's about 8 years we do know for a fact that he hasn't worked on this car in 15 years the last time this car moved was to this spot right here then the starter died and all you a body mopar fans with headers know how hard it is to change a starter in this especially when someone accidentally uses an old truck starter rather than the mini starter that most people are going to nowadays now on top of having to replace a starter in this car this thing hasn't had a air cleaner on it in at least 10 years at least the whole time it's been sitting here it was one of those deals last time i tried to get started pulled the air cleaner off forgot about it so now it sits underneath this very torn car cover with an open carburetor so hopefully the motor still turns over carburetor's probably going to need to be rebuilt and we're probably going to throw some slick them in those cylinders you know see if it still turns over now before we can do any of that we've got to get this thing into the shop yeah it'd be cool to do it like those revival channels do and you know fix everything right here and suffer in the gravel but why do that when there's a lift right in there in tools and we're out of the wind yeah the wind's rocking and rolling today unfortunately though this car is currently sporting four flat tires let's see how bad those tires are well this driver's side front's got plenty of tread but i fear it's starting to show its age there's an area to leak some wind oh that's probably not that good i bet you could throw some shoe polish in there they'll they'll fill up the voids hey this driver's rear looks good on top but not so great on the bottom maybe we should just run the top of these tires yeah they look a lot better ah the passenger rear looks good too on the top yep unfortunately it's rotted on the bottom too what if these tires are just defective they all seem to be rotting on the bottom i guess we should see if these uh tires will take a little bit of air why wind why why does the wind have to keep blowing into the microphone why can't you just blow into those tires over there alright so now the fun part we've gotta shoehorn this thing outside and then get it to the front of the shop because unlike me the dodge whisperer doesn't have to work in the dirt he's got a shop with a lift and tools so in order to replace the starter and see if it will run i have to help him get it into the shop wait a second quick observation if that's not a camaro does that mean the bad tree production nacho is actually a barracuda that would explain why jabo is always mad at me but this also means we can't have a bunch of canadians have a faster barracuda than me in the dodge whisper and by me i mean the dodge whisper cause that's that's his car but i shall live vicariously through him since apparently everything i drive is slow wait crap if this isn't really a camaro and actually a barracuda does this mean that battery production aren't really canadians no way it snows way too much where they're at they have to be in canada oh i just got a horrible idea we get this thing running this could be the start the duddy adventure racing team yeah the d-a-r-t that's still a nova now mind you i don't technically have a car but i can live vicariously through the dodge whisper you know i could be his crew chief no mechanical aptitude absolutely no knowledge of racing or going fast i could be there for moral support and i can film it i don't know if you've noticed but the dodge whisperer doesn't post very many videos y'all want to see more of this car y'all you know go over there and subscribe i don't think he makes videos because he doesn't think he's very interesting but he knows a lot and he has a lot of cool mopars and through the power of the internet and me apparently taking a siesta the dodge whisperer has uncovered the barracuda he was able to force some wind in the front tires and even force some wind in the rear tires now that we've uncovered this barracuda and the dodge whisperer has figured out how to get it back into neutral and we think we have some breaks we're going to strap this thing to a tractor and try to drag it out of the shop because honestly folks when the car is literally right next door to a shop with a lift and tools why would you want to do a will it start in the dirt just saying let's see if we get this thing to move not under its own power under tractor power [Music] well we got it into the driveway now here's the problem we can't use the tractor to drag that into the shop so what i have to do is use my two little armadillo legs and push this thing into the shop problem is is a little bit of a lip getting into the shop so the dodge whisperer while he's steering this thing it's gonna need a little bit of a momentum to make it in there he went ahead and cleaned the windshield so he could see because apparently it would have been unsafe to try to thread the needle into the shop with a dirty windshield so let's see if i've got enough armadillos to push all these armadillos into the shop all those years of not working out finally paid off well the barracuda is in the shop i'm sure all you all are wondering what was underneath the hood well if you hadn't watched the dodge whisperers episode yet i believe it is a magnum crate motor somewhere from the early 2000s with like 380 400 horse magnum 380 so the first thing we've got to figure out because this thing's been sitting for better part of a decade is will turn oh yeah turn it's free she's free pull some plugs and give her the juice mainly because this car unfortunately has been sitting with no air cleaner on it for most of its life underneath the car cover best case scenario we dump some oil in these cylinders get her lubed up real easy then it'll probably crank over a lot better well that's assuming we can get a starter in this thing you a body owners know what we're talking about starters they're not a lot of fun see that the thing hiding behind that header very inconveniently yeah that's one of those good old 70s truck starters that just you know it's perfect amongst these headers and exhaust and the old dodge whisperer is probably going to upgrade to one of those little mini starters from another truck you know the dakota dude what now what did you say there's vice grips down there no oh well the dodge whisperer about 10 to 20 years ago lost some vice grips he just found them pretty sure those are holding the floor pans to the car hey you never know we might find a whole tool set in this thing real question is are the plug wires gonna pop right off are they gonna rip off one two three four you mean you don't tape what number those holes go to no well that's what i do one eight four three six five seven two oh well obviously he knows what he's doing because i would label all those you know one two three four five six seven eight but he just ran off some bar code sounds like something i should probably learn i'm just curious to see what these spark plugs look like see what kind of spark plugs they are i mean there's really no telling i bet you they're champions that's what every good mopar owner runs i mean unless this really is a camaro then they should they should be ac delco it's good the plugs aren't seized into the head that's encouraging auto lights oh yeah why does it look like you've been rolling coal buddy you know i don't know how to read spark plugs properly but i'm gonna say this one was rich or possibly burning oil oh this one too oh i see the problem here we've been working on clapped outcome in so long this thing runs off diesel i ain't no mechanic but i don't think they're supposed to be that color i think we probably need to get a new set to start it up with might might make a little bit of a difference oh you mean maintenance do um dodge plymouth chrysler owners do that sometimes i'm just glad to see more previous dodge owner wiring i guess in this case see oh restored but i guess in this case it's previous plymouth owner wiring i mean this thing's just waiting to catch on fire it almost did it almost did uh header in the way oh the header is already in the way can't take out a starter apparently cannot remove spark plugs i hear if you put a ls in here you won't have that problem [Music] they weren't talking about a body headers being tight yeah that one was rolling cold too buddy looks like it that paint of rust a little bit of both it's just gonna go out on a limb and assume these are not the most performance plugs you could buy for this motor i'm gonna also assume that i think you probably bought these plugs in order to get this car here like 10 years ago ah install knuckle buster this is why you want to switch back to exhaust manifolds i think the internet's going to hate you for removing these headers you don't have a choice starters and go somewhere somewhere looks like it's going to be a disaster already oh you're just being pessimistic you know we could run headers but just turn them in the zoomies out the hood easier to change the starter that way well there you go because you know starters are like changing the oil you got to do one every time yep that one ain't too great either we'll see that one's not hard wow yeah well well you know if you didn't run this thing on diesel weren't you mentioning you weren't sure what was left in that tank i wonder if a hot rod can run off varnish my go now full disclosure because i know you built this thing when you were just a young man but is that the correct location to mount a fuel pump i'm no mechanic but i'm pretty sure that thing is supposed to be at the back of the car you know better pushers than pullers i'm sure that will be addressed at some point though the wiring on this side looks meant yeah it was all brand new until it smoked oh so the magic has already been let out of this car before oh there's the problem folks we've got to put the magic back into this car that's what we have the finest grade oil for it though oh that's that premium grade bad tree production snake oil yes that is definitely me not covering up that label with something else and of course halfway house garage decides to show up while we're filming this so now we have a clapped out cummins ruining the sound on this video oh he either turned it off or just decided to die typical dodge behavior ah custom mixed oh you showed up beer you must want something i thought that thing was going to sema that's next year or halfway house finally getting rid of the rot charger it had so much potential well the good news is it is cranking over been in that spot for a while oh yeah got a rusty belt oh you know i never thought a belt could rust but apparently it can at least it's turning over nicely must be that custom cocktail put in each cylinder of course since the dodge whisperer wants professional help he's enlisted halfway house garage to help him rack the car unfortunately he's already cracked a beer so he'll be pretty worthless here in the next few minutes [Music] fun fact the demise of this car was a starter or it could be the typical clapped out mopar wiring no one seems to know the answer yet now how much previous dodge owner is in the bottom of this plymouth that's right i forgot it's got cutouts it's ready for racing man i mean you're not wrong but how many times did you rip these mufflers off this one looks like it's permanently connected to the floorboard skid plates huh excellent custom made drive shaft oh so that's the bane of our existence right here why do you think he hasn't touched this thing in over 10 years you almost just want to you know sell the car and buy another one that has a good starter on it don't look at that so what's up with the one wire i don't know hey don't don't look at that don't look at any of these things at some point in my life i decided i needed an o2 sensor for some reason so that's what i do i install sensors when the car doesn't even run it's custom very rigid [Music] clean one owner is that eight and a quarter yep this car has definitely never been wrecked and definitely has not been welded back together you can't even tell where the frame has been stitched back together just ignore all of the flux core welts yeah you know flux cores it's just as good as anything else i mean there seems to be some random welding here and there i feel like it'd be easier just to manual transmission swap this thing and pull start it then replace the starter ah better look at those vice grips that we lost 10 years ago oh they're holding in those new floor pans that never got welded in so here's the culprit and here's the header that's in the way looks like you have enough room until you get over here and realize that the back of this header is about a finger width away from the back of the starter and not a lot of room in here so currently the dodge whisperer and i are contemplating removing the header jacking up the motor or pulling the transmission i guess if this was bad tree production we could be like jeremy and just cut the header but i'm pretty sure he didn't film that so i guess it didn't happen it looks like there's room on this side so this is what we're gonna do we're gonna unbolt this starter get it disconnected we're gonna start wiggling on it and figure out which way is the best way for this thing to come out starting to understand why the dodge whisperer wants to put exhaust manifolds on this and ditch the headers but you can't put exhaust manifolds on this it's not race car hey at least it was tight god knows if i put this thing back together it would have fallen off probably oh are we making progress slowly i feel like i'm contributing nothing pretty much yeah story of my life my defense i did motivate you to put this car on the lift or you know bad tree production could had some bit to do with it i don't think the shine juice is going to work on this starter the good news is that someone already took the stud out of the bottom that normally is there because i know for a fact that this starter has burned up once before really yeah and but so by someone you mean you oh well 20 year old dodge whisper i don't know god hmm did are you do you feel like you might have put too much torque on that thing when you installed it do you think it would take bad tree production this long to take starter out probably i almost feel like they have the motor taken out by the time it's taken us to get this starter unbolted you and jeremy two hippies in a pod well we got a piece of the dust cover off that dang starter is still in there you're getting closer maybe just poke at it removing the custom heat shielding because that helped not burn up the starter hopefully the mini starters come with better heat shielding see it's just it's just hitting everything like how much further we got is it worth breaking the snout off the starter that's an option you know we do have air chisels of course halfway just clapped outcomings ruining my video again i just want to see the wires why can't i just see the wires oh god well i mean if it's dodge wiring they're already melted oh you can see them on this side oh i got a really stupid idea you're gonna like it i mean you're gonna hate it at first but you're gonna like it why don't we just take this pitman arm down that this starter is sitting on and maybe and maybe it gives us enough wiggle room i don't think i can pick an arm puller well we've got hammers well what what if we took this thing off pop that off turn the wheel where this pitman arm's over here and we laid this down here is that a thing maybe okay oh do that again come on do that again oh we're so close it's so close i think if we uh jack with that steering a little bit we can get it out y'all hadn't figured out folks i don't know anything about eight body mopars if it's not evident by what i call them so the dodge whisperer is giving me a little bit of learning as we go through this process even though he's suffering on something that he has put off for 10 years it does make me contemplate if i ever want to build one of these dodge whistler thinks it's not a good idea what do y'all think while he's working on that starter leave a comment not only are we going to be replacing a starter we'll be rewiring a starter so this is where we're at now folks so close yet so far away try jerking on that wheel again because i might be able to yeah you might be a trained mechanic but i'm extremely lazy and find other ways to do things yeah screw pulling that header uh you are going to have to rewire this now i can't help you with that i mean there's 14 miles of tape on this i don't know where to start some damn previous dodge owners happens to be you there you have it guys and gals how to remove a truck starter out of a clapped out barracuda without removing the header we have mint condition goodness to put back in the real question is how much easier is it let's find out yeah oh [Music] carefully up there rotate okay [Music] ah well it's already installed oh hell no only the starter was good yeah now it's probably stuck forever oh no see that's the benefit of running a uh dakota starter remember folks you're gonna run a clap down a body with headers splurge for the mini starter it's worth it so we're on a search for a starter unfortunately that starter we had well it released all its magic a long time ago luckily the guys from bad tree production said they could help us out weird thing is as blake started texting me goes stand next to your refrigerator and i'll let you know when it gets there not really sure what he's working on honestly you never know what that dirty hippie and blake are up to i wonder what they are doing did kind of find it weird that like was randomly texting me something about going to the bathroom watching youtube hit his head stand by the refrigerator i i i don't know i don't know so i'm just standing here waiting i feel like i could use my time better like going to the parts store yeah i'm just going to stand here by the fridge i'm too invested in this i kind of want to find out what's happening i want i wonder what those guys are doing seriously why would they want me to stand next to a refrigerator get some christmas cookies [Music] what the heck's going on out there what's going on jeremy i've had a breakthrough what what what i've been up all night i was watching the fly last night and pretty late i fell asleep and i woke up and i was on the toilet watching just mopar joe video and i noticed my clock above the toilet wasn't set back for daylight savings time yeah so when i went to get up to set the clock back i slipped and fell and i hit my head and i had the vision of a sub-compact teleportation device out of a refrigerator out of the refrigerator jeremy it's nuclear nuclear but i was only able to do one test run nuclearly so now she runs on pure organic coors light it's actually more powerful this way i believe that how does it work well jeremy let me show you um i believe there's a hippie in texas that needs a starter we'll use the starter here as a test subject that's a mopar mini starter the coolers are still full okay okay [Music] 360 times 440 equals divided by two coordinates of texas it's fired up it's ready to go all right that is cool the starter on the teleportation pad it has to be at 32 degrees fahrenheit for it to work that's why we have to use a mini fridge all right it's there [Music] are you ready ready it worked no way it worked how about you start my car oh no well i guess i got one you can have it's up to the house nice two three four five six seven eight nine zero [Music] work battery production teleporting device ships things from iowa to texas where's that candidate of mexico either way what we call dhoni what's happening man we just sent the starter through the teleportation device have you gotten anything yet oh yeah oh yeah it worked jeremy it worked congratulations we'll write down the formula and everything you need for it to work as a two-way device because i believe right now it's only coming from our end to yours fantastic fantastic if you only fix the fact that it smells like waffles and syrup that would be great too that and i think it was covered in coors it's because it runs on that sweet tours baby so you're going to have to stop drinking that nasty ass miller light if you want to teleport stuff back uh i'll see if we can rig it up to run off miller down here it might not send through properly though okay we have a good one sir enjoy your mini starter tell dodge whisper we're pulling for him that's right we'll get it in there appreciate it no problem bye well apparently the guys at battery production are freaking geniuses they've somehow managed to turn their refrigerator into a teleporting device to my refrigerator unfortunately it runs off coors yeah we we might have to make ours run off something else but the bright side is they're able to ship stuff directly here from this i wonder if i should send them tacos i don't know he did say it had to be 32 degrees in order for it to work no one likes cold tacos appreciate the starter guys i think we'll probably install it on the cuda now yeah get us one step closer to doing burnouts that seems to be the right thing to do all right one pre-chilled slightly used starter shipped all the way from iowa ah redistribution of dead dodge's parts fantastic looks meant that starter fits a lot better that shifter cable looks uh very close to the headers that's why this installation is here because i have had to replace that shifter cable at least twice in the 10 to 15 miles that i've driven this vehicle ah so you're saying is it was not right right okay it's funny look at all this room for activities now well once we get this wired up we'll see if the motor will turn over and at least get oil pressure [Music] voltage right there you don't need that little guy new wiring into the old burnt up wiring [Music] because apparently something was wired incorrectly here that was causing starters to burn up or possibly the headers were burning it up yeah we're gonna say all the above look folks mistakes were made when we built this car unfortunately for us we can't blame the previous owner we can but then we would have to accept blame for what we did fun fact dodge whisper said if we get this thing running we can burn out these 20 year old tires let's hope we get it running yeah because you know technically they're they're flat on one side and we've got to re-round them all right now that we've got that mint condition definitely not use starter installed we're going to test to see if this thing can turn over and maybe get some oil pressure all the spark plugs are pulled still in their mint condition dodge whisper went ahead and rewired that starter and now he has wired this very professional battery setup to what we call the jumper box we've shoved paper towels to maybe prevent the three gallons of oil we've dumped in each cylinder but we'll find out if they hold let's see what happens i'm really not looking for a barracuda bath said make sure this thing is in neutral it is a neutral all right i don't know this safety third does this not sound like the right decision right now even though this is probably not the smartest setup here but you know we're learning folks we're learning that's gonna need to be fixed yeah there's yeah that's no fires yet all right apparently the magic has been released several times out of this car so we're going to see if we can put it back in there i just don't want to get sprayed in the face with oil does that starter button not work oh it you know i mean that that custom starter button that you install watch your face watch your face of course not should you try the key is the key on something melted here like that for sure is melted oh yeah you can actually actually see but it it actually it may still be connected oh well so i mean that's fine right yeah typical dodge wire um in this case a plymouth so i mean i guess we could just turn the key on all right about to find out if we got any magic i mean it should work obviously this should work this nothing is sketchy about this proper tool that's right what's the proper tool ah proper tool don't worry folks they're insulated watch your face well that didn't work i just don't get why uh none of the electrical is working in this could the starter have been good that's connected that's connected we've done absolutely no checking on fuses or fusible links i'm pretty sure the voltmeter does too ah the culprit of all mopars the voltmeter oh no you're oh yeah he's actually doing dodge whispering stuff huh huh is that battery dead no no way oh i have power now oh little thing is hooked up very good ah all right so where'd the tool go um uh back in your toolbox inside the cap should we try the starter button now we could watch your face nope starter button still doesn't work should you try the key hmm are we not getting the powers we're supposed to [Music] i don't get why this isn't working this should be legit oh oh oh getting something well really i'm questioning the functionality of this voltage lettering measuring apparatus the thing is it's literally not doing anything oh oh that seems to be one no i don't get it that's you've spent at least five dollars on that yep that's a good place for it should we power probe it maybe yeah i don't know where that is though oh usually a full box of doom hmm have you found any other signs of where the magic was released i mean we're hot wiring it it doesn't need magic oh well we're really poor car thiefs if we can't even hotwire this thing [Music] oh did we finally ruin these gotta keep you on your toes oh it's oh did it break yeah oh hmm too bad neither one of us have any good jumper cables that's not connected well that's the problem tighten it up have you tried hitting it with a hammer i mean literally i just used these to start vehicle yesterday yeah i don't get it they were fine yesterday i mean this is proof that non-maintenance keeps everything in perfect condition i'll try stripped out isn't it of course it is uh we could probably put vice grips in there ah we can use the ones that are holding the floor pans in try it again ah something happened i'm almost thinking that maybe we should find a battery if only we had all these dead dodges lying around that have good batteries stay tuned we're gonna find a battery because our laziness did not pay off so we wasted time this is typical all right so we went ahead and stole the battery out of van muerte because that project's not going anywhere anytime soon this looks legit is this going to end up permanent like your floor plan holders um well i won't be able to close the hood but i'll consider it we don't need a hood where we're going also true check for smoke all right let's find out this thing will turn over ah [Applause] oh it smells like bad gas and oh yeah it got you you were trying to look can't watch do it again oh beautiful yeah that's how you properly lubricate your fenders folks you gotta build that oil pressure oh yeah huh yeah that's a that's a bloody disaster no that's that's perfect now um you've put your anti-rust i mean it's not nearly as bad on my side but i tucked in my uh rags but yeah they fell out too that now do you wish you put the cardboard on like i suggested stand right over there real quick for me make sure it's popping out of all the cylinders oh yeah [Music] looks great i told you we should put boxes here it's almost like we have a few beer boxes we could have used from your winnings i don't know what those other boxes are from if it's all the way over to the toolbox well you know batteries lubricated around the tire well how does it even get down there uh again self lubricating mopar you should have to worry about rust you did know what was going to happen oh oh this is the the shine juice that's right that's the the real shine juice look at that shine little five or 10 w30 polisher up real quick now when we start this thing it's going to smoke to high heaven [Applause] well i think she's cranking ah apparently this feels so bad the scorpions are living in it nice well how does it look it kind of looks like there's gotten some oil up there 20-year oil change interval right that's about right yeah no that's great mint the starter on it change the oil every 20 years i couldn't forget about it yeah i figure if you guys get a normal schedule of oil change and starter let the magic out repeat seems like the thing to do oh my god fuel pump still works good grief that's huh how that thing still works is beyond me because y'all haven't noticed that's in the wrong spot supposed to be back there let's not talk about it though there is a very small chance that that carburetor is not totally screwed let's not put 20-year-old fuel back in oh oh that's yeah oh it's going to need fuel hose uh i see that's oh that's i believe that's how you properly delete that now we just need ah water bottle gatorade bottle i have no idea i know there's not much gas in this but it does not it's got no pressure but it bogged down like it was sucking on something yesterday oh good it's got one of those filters that you know causes your vehicles to catch on fire absolutely yeah these are these are the best ones you can get folks they definitely don't leak dump gas everywhere and then ignite your vehicle good good point if your vehicle does not run these are the perfect filters to use especially if you don't put gas in them either so that filter i was just talking about yeah uh figured out why it's not sucking gas yeah um it's broke apparently it's mounted rigidly on this also so yeah we're gonna have to finagle something to get fuel through here into that well it's the next day and after long contemplation of beer 30 dodge whisperer actually decided to buy new spark plugs trigger warning to all you mopar purists he might have got the wrong ones now depending on what side of the camp you fall on if you're a mopar purist you probably believe in champion not here we're going full fledge in gk's yeah leave your comments down below on how wrong these spark plugs are or if you agree with them so again leave a comment down below do you prefer ngks or champions a lot of like or an autolite i think these did pretty well and of course in typical fashion we can't find any tools so while the dodge whisperer is installing all these spark plugs i'm going to supervise because after that we've got to rebuild this car remember folks unlike most of these will it starts he's planning on keeping this car and not driving it 500 miles and then proceeding to flip it so he's taking some preventative measures rebuild the carb throw some new spark plugs on there hopefully keeping all the magic in the wiring but i was told that it's possible if we get this thing running we might get to do a burnout which is important because those tires aren't round anymore we gotta we gotta get them back to round so in an effort to help the dodge whisper i told them i'd go ahead and start screwing in these spark plugs after about 10 seconds of trying i realized that the these little plastic protectors on the end of it helps folks if you remove this before you try to screw it in the head what are these called again anti-floor gappers anti-floor gappers unless you drop it on the floor after you take it off oh i'll try to avoid doing that yeah cross thread it correct how many threads are on this well those are only supposed to be finger tight anyways right you gotta have some type of pressure relief i told you that i really hate these headers you know you've mentioned it once or twice but i feel like the internet's gonna tell you that putting exhaust manifolds on this would be the wrong thing to do because race car what do you all think leave a comment down below in the comment section should i dodge whisper keep these clapped out rusted headers or put some magnum manifolds on this how much power will he lose remy you could that you know typical dodge wiring contrary to certain belief dodge wiring is just as good as plymouth wiring so they're on par with each other what do you think remy what are you trying to replace that fusible link is that in order to keep the magic in well all those spark plugs are properly hand torqued well the dodge whisperer is going ahead and wiring up that fusible ink hopefully this time it won't let the magic out that is definitely electrical connection cleaner not brake cleaner same difference leave a comment down below if you think there's a difference connect fusible link restored for now to original fire burning condition spark plugs oh yeah yeah those are hand torqued i guess we gotta pull the carb off now don't we yeah unfortunately since we're not getting this running just to drive it home to flip it and you actually want to build this car we have to do it the right way and by the way i mean you you sure you remember your numbers right yep and i definitely didn't put this distributor in backwards oh most definitely this was not installed 180 out and then wired to work because you know that's a very convenient distributor you always want to put it in correctly the first time and never 180 out good news is 20 years ago i actually put these stupid little numbers on the wires so i was right you do number the wires but are those numbered like i number things like one two three four five six seven eight or they numbered the mopar correct way no not the daddy way i see no we want it to actually run right why do you think i just keep converting everything to cummins i'm not good at counting spark plug wires definitely not binding on the kick down that does nothing yeah we're just not going to talk about that kick down linkage at all we're not going to talk about that something that needs to be um addressed in the future all right since i'm impatient even though dodge whisperer wanted to rebuild this car first i want to know if it's going to we're gonna juice her up with that gogo juice and give her a shot this is the starter button still not work underneath the hood yep or sad fuel compact yeah it's not happy it's all right we can put some shine juice on it we'll be fine oh there's a module over here another perma kill cool fan things right here all right here we go oh well apparently he has spark but uh it seems to be about canoeing at the top oh god that smells wonderful real good real good burnt oil oh something died in that intake all right we know we got fire but the carbs still got to come off all right with that quick turnover of the motor we did find out real quickly that we do have spark but we ended up smoking out the shop so while this airs out we're going to pull the carb off rebuild it so when we're ready this thing will actually run properly good news is this ancient msd ignition system still works so let's rebuild this carbon get all the armadillos we can clearly see that the accelerator pump is not pumping and it will absolutely completely just start puking gas out of there because the needles and seats aren't crashed ah so in an effort to possibly do a burnout this carburetor needs to be working properly remember this folks we're doing this for y'all definitely not for our own benefit it's definitely the right kind of screw for throttle linkage yeah that that was expertly installed 25 years ago 20 years ago you know sometimes i forget how old we are yeah oh that that was not the duddy way you need to at least grab three of the wrong sockets or allen heads till you get it right we're gonna we're gonna start over yeah let's start over for any of you all are wondering why this video is going so well and production is being made it's because i'm not doing the work if you do any follow-up videos of this you'll you'll notice that production will be made on this car just not by me oh yeah that that is the smoke of regret and neglect we might need to work on that then again all the smoke does cover up all the rat droppings that could be in that intake funny story see that big vacuum port right there looks like got a big hole there well whenever we first put this engine in that top hand truck it took us weeks to find that vacuum leak and we had no idea why it was running so terribly [Laughter] fun fact the dodge whisperer didn't key in on it on his video this motor actually used to be in the top hand he does have a video on that truck be sure and go over there and check it out crate motor and a 79 power wagon ah remy you're always helping always help again now don't feel like you gotta narrate god forbid anyone learn anything [Music] well as you all can tell some very very bad fuel has been sitting in this car for a very long time so this is why dodge whisper elected to take this thing apart hopefully it's not bad enough where we can't clean it out and still use it this ain't looking very good i wonder how much carb cleaner we do have we might need acid yeah i'm just gonna go ahead and assume that all the needles and floats and everything in this we're seized up just like that accelerator pump yeah that's where the accelerated pump is i don't know a lot about carbs folks one of these days maybe i should learn how to do this you know might be beneficial if i ever decide to learn how to build race car but based on the amount of work that um dodge whispers got to put in this car almost wondering if building race cars is too much work you'll seen the lack of progress i have on the prospector project yeah that's going great well that one doesn't look as bad still got a lot of junk in it this one is really bad that's just disgusting i can't even believe there was actually liquid still there [Music] [Music] now let all those carburetor parts soak for two hours to 24 hours see how bad this is [Music] and just like that restore let's not talk about the lack of hardware this car had on it decisions were made back then oh yeah that's going to make a difference sure put a clogged jet on it oh don't say that you'll upset jabo battery production recommended that we just throw a thermaquad back on there because mopar unfortunately all our thermoquads were on running vehicles so an effort not to make more not running vehicles dodge whisperer went ahead and rebuilt this carburetor don't worry folks we went ahead and disconnected the uh intimate fire that would come from this fuel filter so how many ugga duggars does it take to tighten down a carb [Music] do that by hand man i mean you took it off with ugga dougas yeah that's acceptable we could just run it down with that the internet would probably explode we got the impact wrench i mean i hear you just stop once it pulls the threads out of the aluminum yeah [Music] that's to do with the half inch 1200 foot-pound management see how much work you're having to put into that you could have done good that thing and been done with it don't forget about that one i'm helping a dirty hippie that cheated in a race my fault you don't maintain your vehicle uh we really need to talk about maintenance while we work on your car that's been dead for 15 years you know no about that that's one of those things one of those things well let's just hope when we put gas to this thing the smoke comes out the back of the car and not the top of the car replace that rotted fuel hose that was there prior we're going to go ahead and just bypass this ancient fuel pump and we're going to hook up a marine tank to this thing see if we can get it to light off [Laughter] i guess winning by cheating is still winning you better put some devil's lube on that buddy oh there you go oh oh oh we're gonna need some fresh hose oh i don't understand we've only been using this setup for probably the same age as this car's been dead ah you just cut off the bat end that that's that's the way to do it should we test uh fill up the fuel bowls first and see how much it leaks hopefully again less smoke here more back there did you leave your original um vacuum caps intact no i replaced them you did what didn't make notes how dare you maintenance but the hose with the screw in it was meant all right first test of the marine tank huh i hear air if you're having trouble hearing the dodge whisper that's because he's doing carb whispering that and this is not a how-to at all i will jump cut this so much you will learn nothing will you hit the pump perfect all right we're good how much of this crap should we remove before trying to start the um hot rod motor crap crap crap all the crap that's mine oh okay all right so like technically it's got gas it's leaking profusely here from something is it leaking back there or where is that we're probably going to tighten up the fuel ball screws of course the one place i did not look it's leaking oh yeah yeah no that's fine that's how you confirm there's gas in it oh yeah that was a that's both for duddy tight well i was ugga dugging and i didn't want to overdo it yeah i'll get dug enough no obviously oh yeah oh maybe i forgot that one yeah remember folks when rebuilding a carburetor don't forget to uh do we have a fire extinguisher throw beer at not good at all should we bang on it with a leatherman no that's what they do on youtube well we don't have an accelerator pump but again maybe we should have put a thermal quad on this we're calling there she goes oh god it smells so bad oh she's a smoker was it not in park mopar saying it was in park and not in park never saw it coming [Music] there we go oh yeah gotta burn all that evil off him oh so much we dumped a lot of oil in those cylinders ah you just gotta burn off all the evil remember folks we dumped a lot of oil in all these cylinders not everything coming out the back of that car it means it's flapped out [Music] oh something's vibrating fair [Music] [Music] oh gave it all the armadillos and it quit i'm sure glad we saturated all this heat wrap motor oil it's really paying off right now contrary a certain belief the longer it sits doesn't mean the better it will run so so [Music] [Applause] the information [Music] oh yeah where there's smoke there's fire it does run very good not very good i feel like this heat shielding here so saturated in oil that it's potentially could catch on fire at any point all right while this thing cools off and stops smoking dodge whisper and i will see about getting it tuned up and see what else we can do with it that's tomorrow's problem not today's good news is this thing runs after 10 15 20 or 8 years whatever story you want to believe there's some noises that we're not familiar with and some of them were kind of concerned about but it runs just ignore all that smoking all right round three is there gas in the tank we've elected to turn on a fan dude all the smoke do you have the key on yep gotta turn the ignition on there it goes [Applause] we haven't figured out what that noise is but let's see if we can get her to idle for a little bit unfortunately you can see we still have all the mouse nests emanating from this exhaust we'll say one thing this car does sound good it's far less smoky this time too wait till it heats up and starts lighting the rest of the mouse nest on fire remember folks all that's saturated in oil now we can't figure out what that noise is we're hoping it's not the transmission but sounds like the best company oh yes we clearanced it oops yeah we might have um damaged that dust cover when we did that starter job you know we're professionals folks low height low ruined might as well scrap it again legit folks [Music] yeah that's right when we were doing the starter we broke a piece off the dust cover so now it's doing this fantastic [Applause] other than that everything else seems to be working all right oh yeah she's starting to clear out now he's got to burn off all that evil maybe get that accelerator pump working left ah fluently i don't know if that's the oil we felt yesterday or it's leaking ah get a little warm i might have not tightened that cap down enough there's some little puddles underneath the car i would say this is pretty much a success dodge whisper's got his barracuda running still gotta work out a few bucks i wonder if we're gonna do a burnout tomorrow [Applause] oh yeah we gotta fix that that shield a little carb tuning [Music] [Music] you gotta earlier it needs some help yeah and i'm not a lot of help well guys and gals remember that polar vortex well we found out what happened to the barracuda last year fantastic fan freaking tastic so i was up here checking the dust shield the old dodge whisperer went to coconut things because we saw a little leak well we found out one of these uh freeze plugs decided to they wanted to rot out which is weird pretty sure that's a brass plug well maybe it was just painted grass must have been painted brass it's clearly sealed clearly i don't know if we're gonna do burnouts tomorrow in the dodge whisperer's defense he was done for the night but i convinced him to lift up the car so i could remove this dust shield so technically um this is this is my fault yeah dang polar vortex got us again sad part is we just put antifreeze in this thing unfortunately we put a gallon of antifreeze in a gallon of water so they're really not sure what was left in that motor this this must have been the side of the block didn't have anything in it so actually the real problem here folks is the dodge whisperer shoved screwdriver through that freeze cap you're not supposed to be able to do that oh but look with this new starter we've got so much room for activities now fantastic well things aren't going great freeze plug decided to go inside the block rather than pop out well at least the coolant water cooled the headers ah water cooled headers goes back to your original idea when you were a teenager that needed to happen oh no that did jesus well we'll just consider this a a block flush oh yeah oh oh it's so bad we might flush this out with the water hose tomorrow yeah yeah absolutely we're done for tonight tomorrow we gotta flush the block all right we went ahead and deleted this dust shield here and it's still missing one freeze plug but dodge whisper is going to try to start it again lost my battery clamp not that one it's that one yeah right there disaster area oh yeah you have to readjust it professional semi warm start so larry the engineer can hear it see how much more lifeblood it spits out that hole in the block now [Music] yep [Music] that dust shield was the noise there we go [Applause] oh come on now at least run it out of gas oh yeah this car sounds much better now you keep it running [Music] [Applause] jesus i can't believe my starter button still works and you even knew it was there uh huh that's the only way i've ever started it well the plymouth is still smoking let's see if we can get it running better tomorrow so the plan today for the dodge whisperer at least is to fix that freeze plug and do a little tuning on that carburetor yeah it was thrown together pretty quickly we need to fine tune it a little bit so get it running good so i was promised burnouts and who doesn't want to see a clapped out plymouth to a burnout you know help bring in that new year so let's see if the dodge whisperer can make this car shout a little bit more but let's see if we can knock this out and we're back to taking the carburetor back off maybe we can uh fix that pesky accelerator pump because this motor needs a little bit more armadillos especially if it's going to push that much rat nest out of the exhaust we still haven't fixed the whole um anti-polar vortex problem we've got down here all right guys and gals whisperer is now working on this freeze plug and as he dives deeper into it you can see how nasty the inside of this block is he's going to smash the freeze plug in there that just make this car mobile maybe even do a burnout but it's looking like the plan now is to eventually pull this motor pull all the freeze plugs and flush it this is what happens when a car sits for 10 to 15 years with just water in it no bueno well dodge whisper got that freeze plug in and now this socket is permanently installed just like these vice grips yep it's part of the course folks this thing's gonna have a whole toolkit in it by the time we're done very very inconvenient folks we could leave it in there and see if the uh armadillos will shake it out come on it's just so inconvenient oh and it's out all right freeze plugs fixed dodge whisperer's gonna work on idling [Music] oh it sounds so much better with that dust shield removed it's been nice yeah sounds so much better now dodgers were just gonna do a little tune in on that card [Applause] she's still got a little bit of a stumble to her oh [Music] [Applause] [Music] interesting is it just not holding enough fuel pressure on there oh you think it's a spark issue yeah we don't have any other random carbs lying around that would work can can you see fuel getting shot in there [Music] so pup may not be what do you mean this is our mint condition store brand off the shelf pump are you saying it's not hot rod compatible all right random update um we tried to hook up the original fuel line and have found several leaks in the fuel lines one being in the metal line up by the engine bay and we fear that the rubber hoses or lines on top of this tank are leaking so we're gonna drop the tank now see how bad it is under there well unfortunately that little rubber hose there pulled right off and um the fuel in this thing does not look good oh no and neither does oh it doesn't have a float left on it and what the is all that well it's completely plugged up that wasn't [Laughter] well that explains our fuel issue that's why we can't have nice things remember folks this tank was probably installed 20 years ago and probably only had maybe two tanks of gas thrown through it oh there you go yeah shine that light around in there oh oh no buddy no oh it's bad yeah real bad yeah that's something went wrong well that's what you get for running that super octane race fuel i don't know why there was a rubber hose on it in the first place yeah no kidding oh i think we found our stoppage huh that that will do it this would be good fuel for the keystone well because the dodge whisperer has better things to do than clean out a rusted out forgotten fuel tank he did the right thing and ordered this tank for a completely different car 10 years ago that's been sitting new in the box so in typical fashion we're going to redistribute dead dodge parts new tank can go in the cuda what am i talking about refrigerator [Laughter] what am i talking about doctors bernanke prior plan to buying this tank he must have got it sent to him by bad tree production yeah they must have shoved it in the refrigerator and just like that new fuel tank going in but i won't bore you all with the details and we are most definitely not going to discuss this at all fuel tank install complete well now that we've got the new fuel tank installed it's time to move to the front end we're going to try to plumb in that old fuel pump see if we get this thing running yes we know the fuel pump's in the wrong place that's where it's going to be right now we got to get this car driving you know for burnout purposes so current plan see if we can make this pump work again we'll tie it into the original fuel system that we've blown out cleaned out and put a new fuel tank in hopefully this will make this car run a little bit better because we think our little store brand pump just wasn't working very well all right we're going to kick on the fuel pump find out if uh oh there's no keys in the car of course because this is the only mopar in the world that actually has keys to the truck iron hole oh well again so close but you know there's that whole battery issue before we plug it in to the motor we're gonna flush these fuel lines right quick take 475 was it nasty or was it decent not terrible we did the right thing and got one of those non-see-through filters because this thing is a fire disaster anyways yep you know that's just helping clean in that engine bay before you yank this motor again definitely don't need a hose clamp on that all right now the true test in this 20 year old fuel pump run this motor 100 here we go if we have fuel leaks because that's how it works fucker's got like way too much pressure oh well i mean tell me you didn't regulate that properly when you built this car what does this thing need like a thousand psi to run properly probably i mean maybe that was a reason why all the spark plugs look like you're rolling coal there you go will this door open yeah you just gotta you gotta manhandle it oh you gotta open it from the inside sorry so you gotta use your strong hand there you go there you go oh yeah that's hey you and him set them body panels up i don't want to hear it yeah that's meant oh yeah let's get in the car larry and work the key [Music] [Music] huh [Music] [Music] well looks like we got to do some carp tuna still working on that tuning carved this motor just won't idle unless that uh choke is on we'll get through it [Music] i'm sitting in the car because i've got to work the key currently you're trying to get the car to heat up to see if the electric fan will kick on we don't even know if the electric fan works anymore in this thing now it's starting to clear out van works i think the pan just kicked back on [Music] story of our life ah the good news is the electric fan works bad news is the carb is still being a pain in the ass and of course it's still burning all the evil off everything now it's hot and smoky one step closer folks dodge whisper tuning up the carb pull off these bowls and see what's happening inside there all right rechecking the carb for the 56th time judge whisper is confident he can get it to idle now don't worry the screwdriver's there for uh aesthetic effect [Music] oh it's idling now running clean idling i don't know folks these things start to sound a little bit rowdy maybe rowdy enough for a burnout oh yeah race car folks race car we're just getting it dialed in you know for burnout purposes which is for science mainly to find out if you can take a tire that has one flat side and still make it perfectly round stay tuned maybe we'll get this thing running good enough where this clapped out barracuda to do a burnout i don't know bad tree production you might not want any of this well the dodge whisperer is uh getting rowdy to do a burnout so rowdy he's decided to put this car in race car mode that's right folks it's about to get really really rowdy all right the dodge whisperer has got that carb tuned up unfortunately when we hooked up the voltage regulator magic started appearing in the mopar wiring so we're just going to ignore that and act like that didn't happen he's currently getting this car in race car mode we're going to see if we can do a new year's burnout race car prep yep gotta keep them doors closed somehow all right guys and gals dodge was first prepped and ready let's see what a race car mode sounds like oh this car is rowdy oh yeah guys [Music] your fuel pump on [Music] oh now she sounds rowdy it helps when you have power to the fuel pump oh you hear that chop [Music] why can't i have this why can't i have this i wonder if i can make a cummins sound like that oh yeah that is full race car
