[Music] hey what's up everybody so hey i thought it'd be cool to introduce you guys to another project i've been wanting to bring into the shop and i figured with this being a new year what better time to introduce you guys to something else got my 1972 plymouth fury sport 3 as it's called and i thought i'd give you guys a little walk around of it and it's time we see if we can't get it running and driving let's get it into the shop and see if we can uh get this thing road worthy that's my plan anyway you guys know how plans go though right i appreciate you guys following along on this journey and that's exactly what it's going to be a journey so what do we got here 1972 like i mentioned plymouth sport fury i'll crack the hood open for you guys here in just a minute let's give you guys a proper little walk around this is a pretty much a rust free car with the exception of some some surface rust there and down here in the quarters which is pretty common it it's got these little tiny little rust holes here so not much to to have to uh repair as far as rust goes you guys see it there not too bad i mean that's repairable it won't need like entire quarters or or anything like that that is flat be easy to make easy to fix so i'm not even worried about that now unfortunately uh with the exception of that little bit of rust down at the bottom it's got the roof thing going on here that is bad news y'all that's the worst thing about the whole car we got to figure something else something else on this uh this vinyl obviously gave way and the roof is rusted man i mean it's in bad shape so uh obviously we got to peel that off of there and figure something else out we'll play it by ear man i know you can't buy these roofs new they're just not making them so we would probably have to get another car and cut the roof off of that i guess i don't know so anyway uh let's take a look inside the interior we're just going to kind of keep rolling along here uh the interior is complete garbage i mean you can see the dash is busted it's busted up bad all the way across the seats are complete trash front and back the only good thing which is surprising is the headliner the headliner is actually in in good shape from front to back which is odd considering how bad shape the roof skin is i mean i i assumed it it's been leaking all this time and yet the and yet that looks in really good shape so i don't know man y'all tell me uh the floors are in good shape but the carpets is it's garbage too so anyway i can't wait to get started on this and i think one of the first things i'm gonna do is gut the interior once we get it running again i mean it's been sitting for years and i don't know exactly what all it's going to take to make it fire up i drove this car here when i bought it from about 100 miles away and it drove here just fine with no issues at all it did have a bad ball joint so i had to kind of baby and be careful with it but like i said no breakdowns or nothing like that and that is the reason that it got parked was just a bad ball joint and i figured you know if i'm going to drive it i'm going to want to uh address the interior and i just never got around to so it's been sitting for about 10 years now and uh it ran when parked we've all heard that one right let's start out by trying to get the hood open it needs a new a new hood cable so we got to do the little vice grip trick there we go at least it pops open easy i mean that was no effort at all really this hood is missing a hood spring so it's a bit of a chore to open it's going to take both hands i'm going to have to set y'all down you got to do the whole number where you got to pull it kind of lift it at the same time there you go got to make that kind of pop up otherwise you'll bend your hood there we go these hoods are like a mile long and they will bend in a hurry you see here i'm missing my hood spring this kind of makes it a little bit difficult to lift up we'll have to address that address that at some point uh we're missing a belt here oh that thing's locked oh wow that thing is like locked up that's nice okay well let's see what we got going on here looks like a nest there awesome can't wait to clean that that's a big old nest too i hope we don't have any chewed up wires it's been a little while since i've come out here and looked at this thing looks like it's in need of a little bit of cleanup let's go ahead and get the the carburetor the breather off of here and hope like hell it's clean inside i believe it to have an air filter on it looks like i'm missing a return maybe got a filter there that's good let's see if it had a just hit my head on the hood that's nice let's open this up see if it has an air filter in it because i honestly don't remember all right good it does there's something living in it good thing we had the air filter that's for sure let's lay this off to the side get it out of harm's way you got the 360 in it as you can see go ahead and screw this back on here so we don't lose it i like to keep that right with the carburetor where it belongs let's get it down in there oh man it'd be nice to clean some of this stuff out of here you see where something's been living in here let's get it evicted out of here on its way so we can start working on this deal i think before we get too far into this we see if the motor will turn over oh man that thing turns over easy look at that well cool look at that just by turning the fan it's turning let me show y'all get y'all better better look at it yeah check it out man it's turning pretty easy probably a good idea to go and check the oil before we get too far into it check it make sure it doesn't have any water you can see here that oil is black as night so i've managed to get it to spin all the way around pretty easy too that's awesome now i'm just kind of spinning it around over and over we're about on our third or fourth round here i think i'm gonna call it good man i don't think we'll have any issues out of that in case you're wondering why we're doing that when something sits for a long time you could take a chance on it busting a ring like if those rings are rusted against the cylinder walls you know you could bust a ring loose when you try to uh like if you just hooked a battery to it and just went to cranking on it i've seen a lot of will it run videos where they got to pull the plugs out and put oil and transmission fluid whatever down inside of the uh the cylinders and let them soak just to get them to break free and look here we ain't got to do none of that so that we're off to a good start that's awesome that that gives me a little optimism here this here however didn't fare out so good look at that that's that's as good as i can get that to turn and then it stops so we'll definitely need an alternator but we won't need that to make it run though i've got a battery on the charger right now and it's actually been sitting overnight on the charger so we'll have a fully charged battery battery when we go to crank this over we ought to be good to go uh what else we need to do before i get before i do anything before i start messing with anything i do want to vacuum all of this out and get all this i mean we got a big old nest going on here i hope that guy don't come back yeah that is just right inside the fender well right behind where the battery goes and i'd like to get some of this out of here if i can that's okay we came prepared i got the tools extension cords vacuum cleaner we got it all let's get in there and clean out some of this oh nastiness [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] i'm glad i caught that one i did that is uh gonna get bad right quick you guys know how it is when they get their nest built in there and they start peeting and everything it just it makes that rust go a hundred times faster i swear but we caught it just in time we can get in there with some rust treatment or something like that rust converter and everything should be fine uh the main thing is to find out if they chewed any wires while they were in there i do see some wiring going right there i don't see anything chewed up it'll be the same story on the passenger side except this side will be a little harder to get to because it's got the horns in the way a little tighter fit i think we can get the vacuum cleaner in there though i'd like to get all of this cleaned out because i don't want to drive this car into my shop with all these little nests in there that's no way [Music] so something i'd like to do on this is rather than run it off of a gas can uh i want to do something a little more permanent uh i i want to make this into like a daily drive or something that i actually drive kind of a mascot for the channel you know it'd be kind of cool to to use this to run back and forth to auctions and different things like that we could put the weird beard logo in the youtube and all that on this i thought that would be kind of cool so rather than rig it up all temporary on a gas can i thought it'd be kind of cool to go ahead drop this tank clean it out replace the sending unit if it needs it otherwise we'll roll with this one we can replace fuel lines if needed blow these fuel lines out whatever the case i want this thing to run off of its own tanks so let's go ahead and get started on that before we go any further so try this see how this gets us jump over to the other side next get this up high enough so we get underneath it and get that tank out of there we're just about there there we go well okay now that we got it high enough off the ground i don't think we'll have any problem getting the tank out of here something i'm not 100 sure on is if i'll have to take this out of the way uh i believe this is part of like a trailer hitch it goes and come in combination with this and then i believe like a hitch will hook to that uh that is going so we might as well just go ahead and take it off just to get it out of the way and we ain't got to worry about it at all after that up towards the front you know you see the two straps here most of you all know there'll be two bolts up there where that will bolt in holding this tight and then it just fits in back here right up in there into a little notch so basically we're just going to pull out the bolts up front and then this should start to fall out of the way but before i do it like i said i'm going to get rid of this just so we don't even have to deal with it it'll be out of the way i don't want it anyway so so yeah like i said let's go ahead and start with getting this thing off of here oh whoa look out guys about hit me in the face and i think about took the camera out at all at the same time but that did come off here rather easy let's go pop the other side loose hopefully this one will come loose as easy as the other side seems to be look at that all right cool nice let's just get that right on out of the way pop that on out of there i'll save the we'll save all the hardware for it for whatever reason i don't know you never know when stuff like this could come in handy for other projects but yeah we won't be towing anything with this old girl i promise you that now in an effort to kind of smooth it up like make it look better i'm gonna go ahead and take the other bar off even though it's not even in the way might as well there's no point in having it on here anymore and i think it'll make it look better i mean check us out man we're already customizing we ain't even we ain't even got it running yet [Music] well this one here is giving me a little trouble i'll put put the hurt on and see what we can do hopefully i can do this without breaking the break in my leg i've got one crank on it all right there we go twisted it right off that'll work hell whatever it takes right yeah it's gonna look way better not having that in there it kind of smooths up the back of it here so yeah that does look a lot better in my opinion not having those bars on the back of it it's kind of got a a roll pan from the factory that rolls underneath there and it just looked terrible having that bar on there i think so now we can get started under the car hey you like this thing this is an oklahoma thing right here that is a what we call a mud dauber's nest a wasp nest don't worry they're they're gone for the winter we ain't got to worry about that well i see some more of them up under there and way up under there but anyway this is what we came for this little little mess here it appears that we got several lines that are going to need to come off of here i was kind of expecting maybe just a a fuel line and a return line but i see like what is this like one two three four five hoses that appear to need to all come loose um i don't see any reason to really mark them they can only go one way it looks like so i'll go ahead and start getting all these clamps off of here once those are removed i'll probably just have to cut them to be honest with you this is so old really probably no point in even trying to mess with clamps or any of that kind of stuff we should probably just replace all this let's snip these off of here yeah they're pretty brittle y'all there's i don't think there's any saving them to be honest we talked about turning this into a daily driver i don't think we could do that with this crap on here these are terrible shape they're brittle they're just kind of falling apart as i'm cutting them [Music] okay so this would be the last one there we go and these are the bolts here that we're going to have to undo that hold the straps in place one here and then one over here so i already managed to get one strap off of here one left ratchet's acting up on what's going on here there we go all right so yeah got one completely off we'll get this one and the cool part is you don't have to unbolt it all the way just maybe an inch or so this thing here maybe like an inch or so will give you enough slack to uh it's got a groove that that it pops into know if you can see it here but it's got this little funny head on it that pops through a hole and once you get enough slack you can pop it up to where the hole is big enough for this to actually slide out of the groove that it goes in so pretty easy simple design and luckily none of this is all rusted up enough to really give us any issues i mean i haven't even broke out the wd-40 yet y'all i think now probably a pretty good time to go ahead and slide the jack underneath it well there should be enough slack in this to get it to come out through the hole i may have to pry on it a little bit with the screwdriver but you see there yeah we got enough we just need to pry on it a little bit no big deal so with it supported by the jack we shouldn't have to worry about it falling on us at this point there we go see how it pops out of the hole there once you've got enough slack on it it's worth mentioning there's going to be a bolt holding the filler neck to the body of the car up inside of here it's a 7 16 really easy to get to we'll just pop that out right quick and then the tank is completely free and ready to drop out of there there we go well let's try our look and see if we can get it to fall down out of there there we go i have to push it forward a little bit to get the filling neck to come out of the hole yeah for sure there we go something like that there slide the jack out it appears as though i've forgotten to unplug one wire you guys know the drill there's always got to be that one guy so there we go i believe that to be the fuel gauge real easy just slips right on there so now that that's out of the way now we can lower the tank all the way out i thought we'd get underneath here and check our trunk floor while we got everything out man this thing is as solid as can be look at this well i mean the tank itself seems to be in great shape it's not rusted through anywhere at all so that's good that's real good i'm going to get in here clean up this with the wire brush and then we'll knock this out and check the uh what the inside of it looks like and see what our sending unit looks like i thought we'd go ahead and back it up over here to the shop clean all this up really good that way we got access to the air compressor brush all of this off of here be able to blow it off the air compressor as well that way none of this gets down on our tank i'm sure that thing's probably dirty enough already don't need our help get any dirtier [Music] okay now that we loosen everything up with a wire brush it'd be a good time to blow it off with the air [Music] so at this point we ought to be able to tap this ring it's got this little ring that fits inside of here and if you tap it around in a circle just a little bit you don't have to go real far with it it should come out of there yeah that actually worked rather well this thing ain't even fighting us at all so far y'all i mean that's it that's all we need right there just like that so let's pull it well actually let me hit it with the air compressor one more time you can see we knocked a little bit of debris loose when we pop the ring off okay i think this ought to come out of here now this might take both hands let's see yeah this thing's been in here no telling how long it's stuck there we go that wasn't too bad we'll spin it to the notches line up there there we go we come right on out of there with it [Music] a little crusty [Music] oh yeah look at that the float is completely rusted through on it so we definitely weren't gonna have a gas gauge she looks a little crusty in there not even gonna lie man we gotta wash this thing out that's pretty bad i don't think it has any gas in it at all let's see nope not a single drop coming out of this thing yeah that's what i figured she's bone dry and crusty so let's get the water hose out and uh probably what we'll do is we'll just throw a bunch of nuts and bolts or something in there with some water slosh it around for a little while and see if we can clean that mess up a little bit let's see about popping this filler neck off of here there we go that was easy enough right i might just leave that on there for now it's kind of tore a little bit that's going to need to get replaced so at this part i'm sure you guys have seen this trick we're just going to fill the tank up a bunch of nuts and bolts i got a whole bucket load here nuts bolts washers whatever we can get to fit in there and then we're going to fill it up i'm going to fill it up with like laundry detergent and water and shake this thing around in fact i'm gonna leave it in the back of the truck while i go into town later and just let the stuff sit around and just shake around look at that ball i got all kinds of stuff in there anything that'll just slide around on the on the bottom of that tank and break all that crud loose that's what we're after did you guys see that i think fell right down in there oh my gosh probably gone forever there it is found it okay i should smell what it smells like coming out of that tank extremely old gas there's nothing in it just a bunch of crud but you still smell it smells like old ass pour some laundry soap in it something to kind of help break it up you know we'll use some gas too we'll finish it up with gas after we rinse it all back out get all the soap out of it all right let's fill it up with some water we'll only put a few gallons in here that ought to be enough to get us started now for the fun part we're just saying shake it up hey guys so we've been shaking on it for a minute now let's see what came out sounds about nasty [Music] it does seem to be cleaning up pretty good so far you can see the water is really clean coming out of it now at first it was bad so i've got the tank all rinsed out we're back up in the shop i've just been kind of blowing air through with the air compressor trying to kind of dry it out and i was blowing air through these lines on here yeah you guys remember we're underneath there we cut these lines off and uh you know i thought this just went into the tank but apparently what it is it's actually got these tubes that go all the way through the tank and around and back out to the you know and i could blow air through all of them except for this one this one right here is clogged up for some reason i don't know what's going on i don't think i need any of that stuff i mean that's some of that old admission stuff i do believe i think as long as i've got a return line i should be fine so yeah i think we got our money's worth out of that one what do you think so i'm gonna go ahead and pop that off of there it just comes right off i think the rest of it's okay it was a little bit a little bit rusty but i think i could clean it up a little more and use it it's not clogged up it's not rusted through at all so this might still actually be good we're not going to let this thing stop us though we'll get us one on the way i've only got a couple of good days of weather to make this happen so we're not going to sit around and wait on nothing if it means i got to pull that back out of there to put that on later then so be it that's what we'll do so good news i did manage to find some of those they're on ebay there's a couple other websites that have them as well they're only like 10 dollars so i'm gonna attempt to try to run this thing off of its own fuel you know its own fuel system like the fuel lines and everything i think they're all good enough we'll just clean them all out like we've been doing we've got the tank cleaned now we've got the sending unit cleaned up uh let's start on the fuel lines next and just work our way up to the motor this is all junk it's all clogged up and broken and brittle so there's just no point in having it on here so let's just get it out of here there we go let's snip this last hose off right up here we can get rid of this we don't need that jump no more a couple wire cutters out here i can't wait to get this out of the way kind of free up some room make it a little easier to work there we go clamp off of there fight me a little bit we'll get it there we go all right that ought to come out of there now yeah this is what we're working with here i don't know man it's it's junk it's it's all the lines are junk everything i don't even know if you could even blow air through it i'll try it i'll try it with air compressor but yeah it's out of here let's go ahead and get this fuel line off here this is like the main the main supply line here and then that other one's the return let's get this off of here this one there i guess i might have to cut it off and be careful don't damage your lines may have to cut this one off with the old pocket knife i don't know kind of shave one side of the hose off there and help it come off of there a little bit it was stuck on there that one was so yeah i believe that one there to be the main fuel line and then this one here's the return got my sending unit installed this is my setup this is what i'm going to go with i think it'll work we're just going to plug off those other lines that i talked about okay and then this one will actually be the return line and all i'm doing is look at this these fit so good that i can actually screw them in actually i have to use a socket because it threads in so tight and all this is for is just to keep the dirt out that's all it is uh like i said there's some tubes that go inside of there that go around the whole tank and back around out this way and uh i believe this one must be rusted through or something because you can blow air straight into the tank it doesn't come back out and around like it's supposed to and this one's completely clogged all together i do believe this car needs a return line on the fuel because it had a little bit of an issue back when i first got it that if you uh let it run for a little while after it got warmed up it would die and it wouldn't start for a little while and i believe that's because the return line wasn't working and someone had actually already unhooked it from the carburetor i want to hook it back up and i think this will get us by now that i know the true condition of this tank i'll probably most likely get rid of it and buy a new one with the brand new sending unit and the whole nine yards how about that but for right now i want to hear it run and i want to drive it into the shop so tank's going back in and it's easy i mean it literally took like 15 minutes to get it out so not to worry uh pulling it back out won't be a big issue so i'm not even gonna lie i pulled these straps out and took them into the shop kind of cleaned up the bolts not that i couldn't get the bolts to loosen up enough to get enough slack in the bolt you know the bolts that go on the end here so i went ahead and took a man cleaned them up got all the undercoating off dipped them in some oil so now they work really well i'm gonna go ahead and pull this junky exhaust pipe out of here before i put the tank in that tank's gonna come like right in here and i think this will be a lot easier to get to now so let's get this junk out here i mean look at this rusted completely through it goes up over the axle i want to go ahead and just get that out of here this bolt may just break off i don't know yet let's well no it's coming out kinda i don't know about this one why it's not it ain't even trying to come loose yeah now that one's on there y'all oh there we go i think that was gonna start turning there we go [Music] in an effort to access my mechanical fuel pump a little bit easier i'm going to go ahead and take the alternator out of the way because it's right underneath it the alternator you guys saw that thing's no good anyway so let's get it removed and uh what i want to do is i want to undo the fuel lines and blow some compressed air through them maybe even a little bit of fuel to kind of flush them out and then we'll hook them back up so before so before i take this all the way off i want to go and get all the wires unplugged off of it that way we're not dangling by any of the wires right it's got three of them all together one of them is held on with a with a nut here and we'll get that unscrewed the rest of the way off of here and we can get that unplugged try not to lose anything there we go so yeah that one's that i'll put that put the nut back on there so we don't lose it and then this should come off now there we go so yeah you can see there where we exposed the mechanical fuel pump and we've got a fuel line down here that i'm going to disconnect we're going to see if we can blow some fuel through it hopefully we won't be needing this anymore this is what i was used to drag this thing around the yard so i didn't didn't have to sit in one place too long hopefully we can move it under its own power after today that's the plan anyway get all these hose clamps all loosened up hopefully these hoses aren't too bad of shape all right otherwise we'll be replacing all of these right now about to find out this one here doesn't seem to be in too bad of shape it's not stuck or anything it looks like it's going to come right off of there i'm going to go ahead and replace the fuel pump this one has got a crack in it on the bottom where the one of the hoses come out of it so one of the fittings you know so i'm gonna go ahead and get rid of it i've got another one i've had sitting around should be okay we'll get it put in there [Music] about to get it off of here there we [Music] go see how you can see right here maybe if i get the light right you can see where it's kind of got a crack right there right there where the fitting comes out and don't you guys go thinking that had anything to do with me pulling on this hose for 10 minutes trying to get it to come off because it didn't it had nothing to do with that wait it still won't come off i'm going to try this i'm going to fill this up with some acetone okay and then i'm just going to blow it through the fuel line and hopefully it'll carry through any kind of debris or anything with it you know just push it right on through kind of clean it up as it goes that's the plan anyway this one will try see if this works [Music] so so thought maybe we tried that from up here as well let's go and just kind of back flush it let's fill this thing up with some of that acetone hit it with the air hose push it on through now after this this will be the third time i flushed acetone through it and uh this ought to be good enough i would think so here's my setup it's got the air tank hooked right to the fuel line got a hose clamp make it all nice and tight let's push that through there see what happens [Music] let's try and get this fuel pump on here get the bolts started here having that alternator out of the way sure did help i don't in fact i don't even know how we would do it with the alternator in at all no way but so far this doesn't seem to be too difficult this is the first mopar i've ever been in this involved with you know i always wanted to to get to know these things i've got a mopar project in the shop now but it's it's all like paint and body work doesn't any no uh mechanical work on it or anything i want to tighten up both sides evenly try to force anything just kind of snug it up there go back over here just keep going about to have it i know how to do it just snug them up so i accidentally knocked off our mud dauber's nest check it out so i'm gonna sit here and tighten these up after that we'll put our fuel line in and i guess i don't know man we probably start messing around with the carburetor i was noticing the link it just froze up so that ought to be fun [Music] well okay we got the tank in it's clean uh we got the fuel lines all blowed out they're clean uh what else new fuel lines up front i managed to replace that fuel pump i broke i mean that fuel pump that broke let's see what else i haven't managed to straighten out the tire situation just yet i do have some tires for it some old junky ones sitting around with it we could throw one there good enough to to get it up and rolling again i think i might go ahead and throw those on there next uh i'm gonna have to do something with this carburetor the linkage is all froze up on it so i don't know i don't know if we're gonna need to take that thing off and and give it a proper cleaning or what i thought about just maybe hosing it down and letting it sit overnight the sun is starting to set low so it won't be but maybe 20 minutes and it's going to be dark out here so that might be a good stopping point maybe we'll just hose that carburetor down and uh throw the the air breather back on it and uh let it sit overnight i think maybe i might go ahead i got enough just enough daylight i bet i could get the alternator reinstalled maybe i'll do that right quick i was noticing that this is missing a bracket there's supposed to be another bracket goes on the front of here i believe comes out here and goes down and attaches to these two bolts i believe this alternator has always had an issue with with a kind of an alignment issue and i would have to think that that might be something to do with it not having a bracket out here on the front of it yeah i think it's this guy right here that's the one we're needing uh i guess when they remove the ac compressor that the car came with they must have taken the bracket with it and didn't ever put it back on so this is kind of just floating around out there i don't think that's right i'm going to go ahead and steal this bracket here and see if it'll fit i think it will it should fit last one [Music] there we go i think i'm gonna go ahead and bring this alternator too it sounds way better than the one we got let's go ahead and get this installed before it gets dark about to lose daylight y'all but i think we had a pretty pretty decent day i mean we've got everything all cleaned up just about ready to go all we need is tires and uh probably like tires and see is this going inside or the outside let me out here y'all should have paid attention when i pulled it off the other one huh i think we got it right there um tires and fill it up with some gas obviously we'll throw the the battery in here it should be fully charged now and providing we could get the linkage freedom hopefully we could do that without having to take the carb off i don't know we may have to take the carburetor off and mess with it not really sure yet i'll know more tomorrow in the morning but anyway i think we had a pretty decent day i'm glad to have the uh the fuel system all cleaned out i think that's a pretty good accomplishment um as far as the tank goes i do think we'll probably end up replacing it we'll just go all new everything i think that's just the best way to go but at least this way we'll be able to drive it in and out of the shop and all of that while we work on it doing other things because before we even address that issue i want to uh gut the interior get all the nastiness out of that interior is disgusting and not to mention we're gonna have to figure out something on that roof so this ought to be an interesting build series i mean i don't i don't know where we're going with that roof i have no idea just yet but we will find out so anyway you guys stay tuned on all of that but as for the rest of it i just want it to run and drive and move around under its own power i don't want to be dragging it in and out of the shop or any of that kind of stuff well okay now that's taken care of uh we'll put a belt on it tomorrow like i said i'm about out of daylight and all my lights are gone dead all the batteries are dead so we're about to be in the dark uh we'll double check it make sure we're not still having an alignment issue like i used to that that pulley was always a little bit off and it never did it never did act right the belt would always squeal it was kind of weird so maybe having this bracket will fix that that would be nice uh before we go in like i said we're gonna hose down that carburetor [Music] all right we'll let that soak overnight and see what happens hopefully we ain't gonna take it off and tear it down but i'm betting we probably do well okay so it is the next morning i gotta get everything loaded back up and get it back out there let's get the tools and everything back out there uh i don't think we got much to do today before we are ready to fire this thing up let's see we need to put some tires on it that's right the tires on it are terrible uh so let's go out there handle that and uh transmission fluid i could guarantee it's gonna be low on transmission fluid i think other than that it's just a matter of pouring some gas in it and see what happens [Music] i'm really curious to see if our carburetor is it's gonna start working that thing was froze up solid last night oh dude that stuff is awesome look at that like that was like no effort at all i barely touched it and it just started moving well hell yeah uh we need a spring on it hey that's right i totally forgot we robbed the spring off for this for another project i'll have to go rob it back yeah not sure if you guys caught that video or not but we had to rob the spring off of the fury for this project so here we go let's take this back over to the fury kind of rigged this kind of rig this up the best that i can here uh the clip is the clip is missing so what we'll just do the best we can for now i'll have to get another clip here not sure what happened to it i'm sure it has nothing to do with me vacuuming earlier so this all seems to be working just fine now that's awesome let's get some fuel in it i guess i don't know um maybe i'll go and get some tires on i kind of like to have everything ready and have it actually sitting down on the ground before i fire it up because i want to test it make sure it goes into gear and all that stuff but all the tires on this will hold air this one will not emphasize that it doesn't fit anyway it's a little bit too offset a little bit too deep dish in other words it sticks out too far and it will hit the fender there the quarter panel and i don't want to mess any of that stuff up so let's get this one off of here i've got another wheel over here that i'm gonna put on now these are the wheels that came on it when i bought it definitely not the wheels that are gonna stay on it but they hold air so that's what's going on it for now i'm just gonna stick those back on and uh basically what i've got is i've got a set of these but i've only got three of them so i'm just going to leave the two on the front that are on there for now since they're already on there and go ahead and stick this one back on over on the other side and get rid of the one that doesn't fit oh cool the drums not even frozen that's nice make things a lot easier when you ain't got to deal with brake drums and brake discs and all that stuff rusting together and you gotta try to break all that crap free which means breaking out the big hammer right oh yeah that thing's airing out nice so that'll take care of the rear tires then onto the front ones [Music] hey cool this one's rolling too that's awesome [Music] so [Music] so so we've got all four wheels on it they're all aired up ready to go uh luckily nothing is frozen up you see this one here rolls pretty good well this one on the driver's side is a little different story uh it was about to freeze up we caught it just in time you see that so man i tell you what this car was about to go into a deep sleep it seems as though we caught this car just in time because everything was just starting to kind of seize up from rust so that brings me to this let's see what we're working with here we got any bets on whether or not it's going to have fluid in it let's see well actually it does have something look at that i think maybe we need to bring this over this way that'd be a lot better it does have some fluid in it not a lot but some and you can see here this one looks like it just went dry because it's still wet in there i'm telling y'all man we caught this thing just in time well that's nasty after another trip to the shop got us a little brake fluid we'll get this full oh whoa oh slow down now i filled it up pretty good that ought to get us started get this in here this little bar is kind of in my way yeah this guy here kind of gets in the way i need a shorter screwdriver but we got it get a little power steering fluid in there as well i couldn't find an alternator belt i thought i was going to uh get to put one on here and i didn't get to well i filled that smooth up didn't i what y'all think about maybe throwing a battery in it seeing if we even get this thing to crank or not let's see which way this is my negative it's funny they got a red cable for the negative that's it's not confusing at all man the wiring in this thing is just terrible it's just this little area here where they kind of come in and splice some stuff in and it's just not good it looks like it might be some house wiring going on in here like i don't know man these are kind of kind of weird we'll have to go through all of that uh we're just like i said we're just trying to get it running get it into the shop and then we will go through all of this stuff and put on some brand new all brand new battery cables all that stuff i mean these are these are bad you see they got so much corrosion in them i'm going to cut the ends of them off put some new you know get some down to the fresh wires that are down inside the casing and see if that'll at least get us through this part of it you can see once we get down inside of there it's a lot better shape yeah this might get us by that's some nice shiny wire i do believe that's going to do it for now but hey you know what the cables are clean the battery terminals are clean everything's clean so this ought to work i did test the look at that i just broke that good lord that's all right it still ought to be tight enough i think let's see we'll go a little further we're gonna be really careful now at this point okay i think it's tight enough let's tighten this one up a little more over here let's give this another shot now i remember yeah still doing it i remember the gear selector was kind of weird and you'd have to kind of wiggle it around in neutral to get it to do anything and this that's not even working so i don't know what's going on here that's not cool yeah you'd have to kind of put it in neutral and kind of wiggle it around and then find the sweet spot and it would crank but that's not even working anymore i don't know maybe the switch went completely out we just need to bypass it or something or i don't know maybe we need to get in there bang on the starter so on these the starter is located on the driver's side and uh you can see here you see where it's kind of missing that kind of like a little bushing or something missing there i do believe that's the problem with the reason my uh my selector is kind of weird where you got to sit there kind of mess with it to get it to work um let's see i was noticing this here this is just dangling it goes under here somewhere where does that plug in at figure it out i guess what if that has anything to do with it i thought maybe we would just start smacking around on the starter before we go trying to mess with wires and all of that see if that gets us anywhere well that didn't do any good uh man this this has got me wondering like this was just hanging down here i have no idea where it goes i have searched everywhere that this could actually reach to this is exactly how it was just like this i don't know and oh where that goes i just can't figure it out and i don't know if that's the source of our problem or not wouldn't that be something and i can't even figure out where the hell it goes well that didn't do us any good did it i'm trying to figure out where in the world this wire goes to you see this here this was just dangling under here and i think it goes in right here and ain't that i mean that's the thing that you you know that you that we're fiddling with when we're in there trying to get the shifter selected you know it's a safety thing that won't let the car start when it's in and drive you know when it's in gear so uh this i believe this plugs into that i don't know it's so much grease underneath here but this appears to be some sort of a sensor or something right here can y'all see that and is this i mean the end of it here feels like where the wires was yanked out of it some of you guys are probably yelling at the tv right now yeah this right here i do believe is where these came from so what do i need to do here maybe wire this together make it think there's a switch there i don't know so i'm going to kind of digging around just trying to trace my wires to see what i'm working with here and i found this blue wire found this blue wire here and it's long because it goes all the way around i mean this thing comes right off the positive cable goes around the firewall comes over here to this side and actually goes down into this little hole over here you guys see there's a hole i don't know if you can even see it it's way down there and it goes right through the firewall and was just sitting in the floorboard that's how i bought it i don't know what they had that going in there for maybe that maybe ready something to do with radio i don't know but uh it wasn't hooked up before and it ran before like i said i drove this thing home so apparently that goes to nothing let's go ahead and snip it off here i don't see any reason to have a hot wire sitting in the floorboard of our car right we've got another wire that ran right next to that one coming straight off the hot the hot side of the battery and it comes around over here and it hooks into this and that comes around over here and hooks straight into this and that is our solenoid starter solenoid i think we short across that like we did our f-150 and that will bypass our safety switch issue and if it tries to crank after that then we'll pretty well know that that's what's going on so we've got the key in the on position and we're going to short across here and see if it'll do anything there we go all right there we go all right we're hot so yeah i'm not sure if that has something to do with that wire dangling down underneath the car or what probably so you guys leave me a comment you mopar guys that know you remember uh this is this is my first crack at a mopar i've never even owned one before so uh this is my introduction i've always wanted one and when this one became available i i jumped on it and i just been preserving it or trying to the best i can just having it sitting around here you notice i had it jacked up on blocks all this time and i did go through the trouble of kind of moving it around i never let it sit in the same the same spot for more than uh six or eight months at a time and then we'd move it to a new spot and i would just kind of drag it around with a bulldozer there towards the end because i really couldn't get it to do anything but it did run and drive when i got it here but like always when you let them sit this is the kind of stuff that goes wrong with them uh different kind of switches and and connection issues and all that kind of stuff so anyway uh we will just have to bypass the key short across the solenoid but at least we know that we are cranking now so at this point i'm going to go ahead and fill it up with some gas coming down let's get our gas in here how about that all right time for the fun part let's fill this up with some fuel this will fill the bowls up this will let it run for a few minutes this provided we have spark we haven't checked it for spark yet and i'm just hoping hoping that we have some all right there we go see what happens y'all whoa we got spark we got spark all right hang on hang on hand life let's dump a little more of that in there i got excited y'all started flying everywhere let me get my light back out of here i can't believe we have spark i honestly can't believe it i didn't i wasn't expecting spark at all let's go here we go again she's trying might have to dump a little more fuel in let's see let's put a little more fuel in there man she kicked right off though don't hear that that was awesome that was awesome my optimism has risen y'all there we go all right that's okay i don't mind a slow start because i would like for the all the oil pressure to pump up before she just kicks right off you know what i mean so this is good this is okay all right well we'll get a little more in there why is she dirty see all that dirt flying around we still got to get fuel up to the motor it looks like i might go ahead and let's unscrew a fuel line see if that might help get fuel up to it hey that one's fighting me come on now there we go oh man i yank the whole thing off let me down there we go let me get that back on there i thought that was tight i guess not get that tightened back on there and what i'm going to do is we're going to get it running with this off and see if we'll start pumping fuel out of it that'd be cool here we go again let's try it again [Music] well that sounded rough didn't it well i got a little bit to shoot out but try it again just keep doing this hopefully that old fuel pump will kick off start pumping fuel otherwise we got a bad fuel pump wouldn't that be great oh yeah hell well it's pumping that's awesome i got a mess it's getting down right dangerous let's try this again [Applause] [Music] [Applause] i don't think we're pumping yet though uh through the accelerator pump it doesn't seem like i think i hear it squirting houston we have a problem all right we're gonna have to let some of this dry up that wasn't cool man there's a lot of a lot of wet fuel around here let's let it dry up for a little bit we'll come back in just a few minutes i do not want to burn this car down [Music] all right she's running on her own i know she's not happy but she's running maybe ah didn't catch it in time well anyway i'll keep messing with it eventually we'll get her running i think the pump accelerator on it's messed up because you barely give it gas and it wants to die but it tries to idle as long as you speed it up a lot yeah it'll run like full choking that is it so it looks like we got a work cut out for us what else is new that's alright i'm actually having fun messing around with this whole thing uh i guess the carburetor needs to come off it either needs a good cleaning or a rebuild or something probably a full rebuild i mean this thing this thing seemed better days so uh that would be my guess i think you can actually just buy another carburetor for these relatively cheap so well maybe we'll go that route i don't know so i'm gonna go ahead and cut the video there you guys and uh when we come back we're gonna get this thing up and running around we'll go out and back do some donuts i don't know something but she will be driving i promise you we ain't gonna give up on her please like share subscribe all that good stuff i do appreciate everybody watching uh check me out on instagram and facebook weirdbeard on facebook and instagram and uh that way you'll get a notification every time i put a video out the channel is doing good you guys i do appreciate all the support and uh with all your help we'll keep on we'll keep right on and grow and so that'll be cool and we can bring out you know more projects like this because these projects do cost money even though we do them on the cheap every little thing adds up man you start buying all the little odds and ends you know how they are so with you guys watching that that helps a lot with the projects and that's cool man it's kind of a win-win for everybody that way so anyway i'll see you guys later man you
