Foreshadowing in Attack on Titan - Season 1 & 2

this video will spoil the first two seasons of attack on titan this is part one in a series designed to highlight all the foreshadowing and plotting throughout attack on titan my hope is that with this series you can better appreciate the care and attention to detail that went into crafting this story [Music] there are many hints that point to the warriors and mirror being titans in the first section of this video i'll be talking about each the episode that each clip i show comes from will be shown in the top left corner the warriors ymir and those who witness the titans firsthand are the only recruits ignored by the instructor when aaron talks about the colossal titan the camera cuts to berthold when he talks about the armored titan it cuts to reiner during the battle of trust reiner and annie discuss when to break down the inner gate after he sees aaron's titan reiner tries to find out what the others know about it reiner and annie are the first to speak up in support for rescuing the titans reiner panics when he realizes that aaron might have been killed bertolt and annie immediately follow him when he goes to look what annie apologizes to her victims at trust i am [Music] during the inspection armor notices that annie is using marco's gear ryder and berthold are shown to be overly interested when everyone talks about aaron's basement after seeing his face the female titan spares arnon as armin gets closer to the truth reiner starts to get nervous later he tries to gather information on aaron's position within the formation after being spread a second time harmon realizes that the female titan is annie to test out his theory he calls aaron by his old nickname that only their friends would know reiner uncovers his face so that annie can see him before pretending to attack her [Music] after leaving a message for annie of where aaron likely is finder escapes steam can be seen coming up for reiner's injuries and he immediately heads in the direction that armin suggested to rainer after volunteering to stay behind due to losing his horse armin is going to tell reiner to deliver a message to irwin that the female titan is in luckily he was interrupted a reiner might have acted to prevent the truth from getting out during their fight annie realizes that the female titan is annie because of her unique fighting stance even begins to say her name before he's decapitated reiner is rightfully confused as to how the wall could be broken writer and bird told volunteer to investigate the breach with connie [Music] reiner tries to keep connie from figuring out that his mom became the titanic reiner gets suspicious when he realizes that yamir can read the can you do it reaction to seeing the beast titanic [Music] bertolt prepares to transform to save his own life for this next part of the video we'll be looking at less direct hints story of where he and reiner came from conflicts with what we've seen [Music] later we see that they both had a very memorable encounter with the titan notice how annie is hidden from view in both flashbacks of the scene before the colossal armor titan reveal when the flashback is shown again after the reveal annie is shown in season one reiner's repeatedly hinted to have a history with annie foreign the terms warrior and soldier are brought up a number of times foreign [Music] foreign the character's positioning in the second opening and ending hinted their allegiances the warriors faces all resemble their titans [Music] that's all for this section in the next section we'll be talking about irwin's plan to capture the female titan [Music] irwin's plan to capture the female titan begins in episode 15. in this section i'll explain how it was set up the scouts plan an expedition just one month after the new recruits join us it's speculated that erwin has a secret objective by making the expedition irwin announced the existence of aaron's basement and the scouts plan to reach it which is something that should have been sensitive information foreign aaron's position within the formation wasn't given until the day of the expedition all of the new recruits were given conflicting minds squad levi also speculates that the mission has a secret objective simply after the female titan is captured john armand and squad levi are able to put together irwin's plan for foreign foreign foreign irwin's plan was almost flawless it would have succeeded but he failed to account for the female titan's ability in this section i'll be talking about the elsa's notebook ova episode which is canon and is meant to be watched after season 1. this ova is the first time the name ymir has ever said the content of this ova was originally chapter 18.5 of the manga despite being a character in season 1 ymir wasn't named until the previous episode and hanji didn't learn her name until this scene until this point in the manga ymir had been listed as having an unknown name there being a character we knew also called dumeer was supposed to be a plot twist but the effect is lost on anyone who hadn't watched the ova before season 2. that's why hanji and levi had such a surprised reaction to hearing the name ymir in episode 28. that was all the foreshadowing and plotting an attack on titan season one and two next time i'll be covering season three which will be much more Like the title says, this is part 1. I intentionally designed this video so that people who have just finished season 2 can watch it without being spoiled. At first I was making this to have it to show my friends, but it turned into something bigger.

This is the first time I've ever done narration, so please forgive the low quality.

The video covering season 3 will be out in a couple of days.
