Flying to the Northernmost Town in the USA: Barrow, Alaska

[Music] hey what's going on guys my name is chris for the jazz guy 13 aviation i'm here at pittsburgh international airport which is my hometown airport about to start my trek to barrow alaska it's located at the 71st parallel north deep in the arctic circle where it is 24 hours of daylight if you know me well enough and have been following me on my youtube videos you know that i like to go to exotic places in different places and after the alaska milk run trip i did last year barrow definitely caught my attention my first flight today is over to newark where i'm meeting up with a friend who's uh going to head up with me too barrow his name's justin he's a friend from college you'll probably see him more in uh as this video goes along but that's a ride for the next seven plus hours and it's 757 200 for the ev token it's so cramped [Music] there it is guys alaska quickly becoming one of my favorite states by the way united does not serve any hot food or any food on this plane for a seven hour play welcome to the hungry skies [Music] uh and we're back in anchorage where i'm back in anchorage landing here and seeing all the mountains go by with all the snow snowpack and the glaciers just reminded me of last year's milk run and it really this state really is my favorite state in the u.s it's just so beautiful to get to barrow there's only one flight a day and we missed it today because it was earlier so we'll be staying the night here in anchorage and uh getting up tomorrow and heading up to uvic or rivero alaska on alaska airlines you guys ever have deja vu this path right here and that hotel is where i stayed at for the alaska milk run almost a year ago anyway we're now staying at the fairfield which is right across from the crowne plaza guys we just walked in this restaurant called bearpaw and grill look at the menu it's like a newspaper when in alaska you eat seafood here's some lobster soup labs the chowder as the bostonians would say remember when i said when in alaska get seafood yeah i got pulled pork this is their reaction to someone's first time in alaska seeing it being 10 o'clock in this light dude i can't do this just wait till tomorrow [Music] morning y'all today is the day heading up to barrow alaska finally i've been wanting to go up here for so long never thought i would the opportunity finally came up and today's the day our flight's at 11 55 on alaska say 7 30 7 800 looks like a pretty empty flight but uh it's currently about eight o'clock and we're gonna go grab some breakfast here finally hotels have breakfast again so that's nice gonna grab some breakfast and head back to the airport and welcome back to anchorage ted stevens international airport checked in for the flight to vero so we did get breakfast they have actually to go breakfast at the hotel and then took a shuttle very nice driver he's from alaska actually and much prefers to be in alaska but with views like this i mean [Music] i try seeing barrow on that map and knowing i'm going there well we're going there it's just unreal [Music] there it is guys the ride to the north usually flying up to barrow you have to go through like dead horse or fair banks stop a couple times so that's kind of surprised that there's only a direct flight there now researching this more there's actually two there's supposed to be two direct flights there a day but because of covid it's only down to one flight and obviously that's enough by the way the temperature up there is 32 degrees and i saw snow in the forecast yesterday so obviously i brought some uh winter apparel hats and gloves the weird thing about this is two days ago i was in pittsburgh in new york and they were both 90 degrees so it's a 60 degree temperature drop in like 24 hours [Music] this is on rail i'm going to barrow alaska hello [Music] want to go to barrow and uh the idea turned to reality three months later and here we are about halfway there i'm so excited so so [Music] so [Music] [Music] so [Music] and welcome to barrow [Music] [Music] [Applause] so [Music] you
